Balkan Slavic Digital Editions

A corpus of historical texts from 10th to 19th century collected for the study of linguistic developments in the Balkan Slavic area. Texts are provided with English translations, digital text with syntactic and morphological annotation for linguistic analysis, a search function, as well as facsimiles for close reading.

Pop Punčov Sbornik

The manuscript № 693 of the National Library "Sv.Sv. Kirill i Metodii" in Sofia, is a unique example of the 18th century literature in Bulgaria. With its eclectic contents, reader-friendly language and narrative style, but also illustrations and author's self-representation, it represents a transitional stage between the medieval scribal tradition of literature, aiming at preservation of ancient knowledge, and the modern trends - education of the people, encyclopaedic collection of available knowledge, as well as the ideology of a nation.

Life of St. Petka of Tarnovo

Hagiography of St. Petka (Parascheva), the patron saint of Second Bulgarian Kingdom, written by Patriarch Euthymius of Tarnovo in the 14th century. The digital edition includes multiple versions in early modern Bulgarian from various dialectal areas, as well as Church Slavonic and Romanian. The texts can be viewed as individual chapters in plain, annotated or collated (with max. of 3 at once) view.

Psalterium Sinaiticum

An 11th century Glagolitic psalter from the monastery of St. Catherine on Sinai. Allows searching by psalm or verse and interlinear view with other translations of the Psalms. Also provides a lexicon of Old Church Slavonic verbs (LOVe) for more detailed morphological analysis. Annotation in progress.

Tale of Alexander the Elder

A 15th century Church Slavonic text from Macedonia, mixing elements of Trojan War, biblical conquest of Canaan by Hebrews, and the exploits of Alexander the Great. The corpus currently includes five versions of the text - from Adžar (NBKM 326), Odessa (ODNB 1/112), Petersburg (RAN 13.2.25), Sofia (CIAI 1161), and Veles (NBKM 667) miscellanies.
