6:	kto blgodějania i zastoupljenia i prědstatelъstva	who (could recount her) deeds of mercy, protections and virtues
	jaže vъ epivatox jaže vъ trakii trъnově že i misii i dalmatii	in Epibates, which in Thrace, in Tarnovo too, and in Moesia, and in Dalmatia?
7:	ne tъčiju že nъ i po vъseljenněi toje obrěšteši obnosimo ime	And you can find her name to be carried around not only (there), but over the whole world.
8:	mnoga oubo i dlъga boudetъ o prěpodobněi sei pověstъ	For the story of this Reverend (Petka) will be voluminous and long.
9:	i našъ oumъ kъ sei po lěpotě ne dovlejetъ sъpovědati	and our mind does not suffice to tell her story nicely
10:	sia oubo staa prěpodobnaa petka otčъstvo imějaše epivati	this Saint Reverend Petka's fatherland was Epibates (ʺhad Epibates as her fatherlandʺ)

	xodeštiix vъ vsěx bžiixъ zapovědexъ ne ouklonno	following all the Divine commands without going astray
	milostinjami i blgotvorenii vъsou svoju oukrašajušte žiznъ	making their lives beautiful by alms and good deeds
11:	vъspitaše že siju dobruju čistouju goloubicu xvou vъ podobnixъ nravoxъ	and they raised this good, pure dove of Christ in good manners
12:	i zakonou bžiju dobrě tou nakazavše	and after they taught her the Divine Law well
	vъ nbsnije prěidoše obitěli	they went over to the heavenly dwellings
	Naslědnicou domou ostavlъše petkou sъ bratomъ evѳimiemъ	leaving Petka as the heiress to their house behind, together with (her) brother Euthymius

	kъ jedinomou tъčiju vъzirajuštii spsti moguštomou ot malodšia i boure směrenije srdcemъ	looking towards the only one capable of saving from ʺthe tempest and the stormʺ reconciled in the heart
20:	nъ niže to samoje bilie niže vodu do sitosti prijemljaše	but she consumed neither the herbs nor water to (the point of) satisfaction
	nъ malo i xoudě	but only less and poorly
	i se źělo kъ večerou	and even that only late in the evening
21:	Kto bo toje iže togda sъpověstъ slъznii istočnikъ stenania že čestaa i neprěstanna	for who would (be able to) tell of the well of tears and (her) frequent and endless moanings

24:	Ne bo běše tamo inogo kogo sъmatrati ta moguštago	for there was no one able to see those (deeds)
	tъčiju iže vsa nazirajušteje oko	but only that all-seeing eye (of God)
25:	ne bě toi tamo popečenie o souprugoxъ volovъ niže o zlatoouzdnixъ konjexъ	there was no care for teams of oxen, nor of horses with golden bridles
	ni o odeždaxъ i posteljaxъ	nor for clothes or bedding
	ne o domox i rabinjaxъ	nor for houses and handmaids
	nъ o dševnomъ očištenii o otvětě bouduštago souda	only about purifying (her) soul, about the answers at the Last Judgement
	o srětenii ženixově	about the meeting of the Bridegroom, saying:
	tebe ženiše moi ištou gljuštii	ʺyou, o my bridegroom, do I wantʺ
	i ono ježe vъ pěniixъ vinou vъ oumě noseštii	and also that (verse) in the Song (of the songs), which she always beared in her mind
	gljušteje	saying:
	vъzvěstite mi egože vъzljubi dša moja	ʺtell me about him, whom my soul lovesʺ
26:	o semъ često bolěznoujaše kako oukrasitъ světilnikъ	she worried often about how to make her lamp prettily
	kako masla isplъnitъ	how to fill it with oil
	kako sladkago ženixova ouslišitъ glasa	how she'll notice the sweet voice of her Bridegroom
	kako dvamъ sъlikъstvujetъ moudrimъ	how can she liken herself to the wise virgins
	kako ženixova nasladit se zrěnia krasoti slavi světlosti sъprěbivania blženstva	how she'll enjoy the Bridegroom's sight, beauty, glory, lightness, presence, happiness
27:	o semъ tъčiju toje srdce bolěznъno běše	her heart was aching only because of that
28:	o semъ toje oči slъzami pomračajemii běxou vinu	her eyes were always darkened by tears because of that
	kogda priidu gljuštii i javlju se licou bžiju	ʺwhen can I comeʺ, speaking, ʺand show myself to the face of God?ʺ
29:	vъ sixъ i siceviix toi oupražnjajušti se i pekouštii se	as she worked hard (ʺtrained and struggledʺ) in this way
	nikakože prěsta loukavi tou iskoušajuštii mъčtanmi že i prividěnmi	the Evil wasn't going to stop trying to seduce her by dreams and apparitions
	množiceju že i vъ različnije zvěri sebe prětvarajuštii	turning himself many times into various beasts
	eže kako bi toi sponou ottečenia sъtvorilъ	so that he could cause her to leave (the desert)
30:	nъ	but the good Petka ʺmade the Most High her dwellingʺ by the well of tears in her eyes

31:	sice oubo toi vъ ženъskomъ jestvě moužъskii stežavšii razoumъ vъse vražie jakože někotorouju paoučinu razaraaše kъzni	And thus, gaining a manly mind with the womanly nature, she destroyed all of the Enemy's machinations as some spider web.
32:	i jakože dvdъ na kъždo dnъ mislъnago nizlagaaše goliaѳa	and as David, she vanquished the Goliath every day
33:	i bě viděti iže vъ zlobě velmi xvaleštago se zmia	and one could see the dragon, basking strongly in his anger

34:	i sice oubo podvigši se na jestvo i sice svoju oukrasi dšu	and thus, fightning with the nature, so she made her soul beautiful
35:	jakože i na toi isplъniti se slovo ono prročъskoe	thus the prophetic words were fulfilled in her case:
36:	vъždelějetъ crъ dobrotě tvojei	ʺLet the king be enthralled by your beautyʺ (Ps 44:11)
37:	i tako oubo dějaniemъ vъ viděnii obrěte vъsxodъ	and in such works she found ascension
38:	i slovomъ i dělomъ žitie oukrašъšii	and making her soul beautiful by words and works
	prěbistъ lěta dovolna vъ poustini	she spent enough years in the desert
39:	vъ jedinu že ot noštei	one night (ʺin one of the nightsʺ)
	na mltvou sebe obično vъdavši	as she gave herself to the prayer, as usual
	i roucě na nbo oumiljenně vъzdějavšii	and as she raised her hands with love towards heavens
	zritъ někotoroje bžstъvnoe viděnie junošu někoego světla	she saw some kind of a divine apparition: a shiny young man
	kъ njei prišъdša	coming to her
	i sice gljuša	and thus speaking:
40:	poustinju ostavlъši kъ otčъstvou vъzvrati se	ʺreturn to your fatherland as you leave the desertʺ
41:	tamo bo tebě tělo podobaetъ zemli ostaviti	ʺfor there it's appropriate for you to leave the body in the groundʺ
	dxъ že vъ ne veštъstъvnaa prěvesti seljenia	ʺand to transfer your spirit to the immaterial realmʺ
42:	silou oubo viděnia rasmotrivъ	as she saw the power of the apparition
	i bžstvno to biti razouměvъ	and as she understood it was divine
	radoujaše se oubo o tělesnomъ raspreženi	she rejoiced about being freed from the body
43:	pečalujaše že o ostavljeni pustinje	but she was worried about leaving the desert
44:	ničtože bo ino tako dšu očištaetъ i vъ prъvoobraznoje privoditъ jakože poustinja i bezmlъvie	for nothing else purifies the soul and brings it to the primordial (perfection) than the desert and the silence
45:	obače oubo i ne xotešti pustinju ostavlъ vъ mirъ vъzvrati se	but even though she didn't want to leave the desert, she returned to the world
46:	i kъ crstvoujuštomou prišъdši gradou vъ bžia slova prěkrasnii priide xramъ	and as she arrived to Tsarigrad (ʺthe reigning cityʺ), she entered the temple of the of (John) the Evangelist
47:	čto ne dějušti i tvoreštii	And what she wouldn't do be doing (there)?
	kolěnomъ čestaa tvoreštii poklonjenia	Doing frequent knee-bendings,
	slъznije točeštii istočniki	pouring wells of tears,
	ot srdca čestaa ispouštajuštii stenania	letting frequent moanings from the heart,
	i poustinnoe pominajušti prěbivanie	and remembering the life in the desert,
	ljutoju sъnědaemaa běše pečaliju	as she was being overcome by sadness.

	jakože ljubodělna pčela vъse prolětnie cvěti sice iže tamo vъsa staa ljubotroudně obišъdъ města	as she dilligently visited all of the places there as a dilligent bee (visits) the spring flowers
	kъ prěsvětlomu xvi mtere priide xramou iže i vlaxerna imenoujet se daže do dnsъ	she came to the shiny temple of the mother of Christ, which is also called Blachernae
49:	i tamo kъ toje čъstněi pripadši ikoně	and there, falling to her honorable icon
	toplije ne štedno islivaše slъzi	she poured hot tears unsparingly
	tebě gljušti vldčce mirou vъsъ moi vъzložix životъ	saying: ʺI gave you all my life, o Lady of the Worldʺ
50:	na te vъsou moju vъzlagaju nadeždu dvice	ʺupon you I lay all my hopes, o Virginʺ

63:	i boudi mi supoutnica nastavnica okrъmitelnica	ʺand be my companion, my advisor and my supportʺ

	edina kъ jedinomu vinou besědoujuštii	and thinking about a single thing (?)
67:	vrěmeni že ne malu mimošъdšou	and after some (ʺnot just a bitʺ) time passed
	svoje otxoždenie ježe ot soudou razoumě	she understood that she will depart from this world (ʺwhich is from henceʺ)

79:	sicevii podvizi prěpodobnije petki	such were the deeds of the Reverend Petka
80:	sicevi borbi dxovnije mtere	such were the struggles of (our) spiritual mother
	jaže vъ malo vrěme na zemli podvigši se i zlostradavšii	who walked the earth for a short time and suffered badly
	velikou na nbsěxъ vъsprijetъ slavou	(but then) received great glory in the heavens
81:	nъ ni tako prězrě bъ svoju rabou na mnozě bezъpametnou ležati	but God wouldn't frown upon His servant by leaving her to lie without memory
	niže tljeju rastlěti se neporočnomou onomu tělesi	nor (by) leaving that untainted body (of her) to rot (ʺby corruptionʺ)
82:	nъ i o semъ čjudo pokaza divno	but He shown a miraculous wonder on it
83:	stlъpniku oubo togda blizъ něgde tou na stlъpě bezъmlъstvoujuštu i sebě i bvi vъnimajuštou	as one hermit was fasting and dedicating himself to God somewhere nearby
	slouči se korabnikou někojemu nedougomъ ljutimъ bolěvšou skončati se	a sailor, who was suffering from a dire illness, died (ʺit happend to one sailor...to dieʺ)
	i tou něgde povrъženu biti	and he was thrown somewhere over there (ʺand to be thrown thereʺ)
84:	Načet že smradъ isxoditi bezměrnъ	and terrible stench began to come out
	jako ne vъzmošti nikomuže minouti iže blizъ tou približajuštiim se poutemъ	not allowing to pass anyone, who would close by (ʺby his wayʺ)
	ne tъčiju že	and not only for them
	nъ i stlъpnikou ot eže ne mošti ne sъtrъpimago smrada onogo trъpěti	but it was also impossible for the hermit to withstand that stench
	ponouždaenou bivšou ot stlъpa sъniti	so (much) that he had to step down from (his) pillar
	jakože i někimъ povelěti rovъ iskopati glъbokъ	to command somebody to dig a deep grave
	i smrъdeštii onъ tamo vъvrgnuti troupъ	and to throw there that stinking corpse
85:	oni že sъ ousrъdnjemъ povelěnnoje prijemše ouspěvaaxu vъ dělě	and they, accepting the task seriously, hasted in their work
86:	vъ sixъ oubo těmъ oupražnjajuštim se	as they were working on it
	i rovъ ouglъbljavajuštimъ	and as they were making the grave deep (already)
	obrětoše tělo vъ zemli ležoušte	they found a body laying in the earth
	tlju že nikakože podjemše	which wasn't rotten (ʺdid not start to rot in any wayʺ)
87:	oužasni že bivše i čjudese koupno isplъnše se ne doouměvaxu se o sъlučъšiim se	(Even if) they were amazed and filled with wonder, they did not comprehend what happened.

	straxomъ abie obъjetъ bivъ	he was instantly overtaken by fear

	ne mogi světlostъ i krasotou oněxъ sъ drъznoveniemъ zrěti	unable to dare to look at their light and beauty
94:	jedin že ot světlixъ oněxъ jemъ ego za rouku vъzdviže	and one of the shiny ones raised him by (ʺcatchingʺ) his arm
	georgie glje vъskuju tako prězrěste tělo prěpodobnije petki	saying: ʺo George, why did you thus ignore the body of Reverend Petka?ʺ
95:	nъ	ʺso remove it quickly and put it to a shiny coffinʺ

102:	otčъstvo že moje se epivate zovomoje	ʺand this is my homeland, which is called Epibatesʺ

106:	i to sъ mnozěmъ ousrъdiemъ izъmše	and as they took it out with much effort
	jakože někojemou skrovištu ne običnou i mnogo cěnnou čjuždaaxu se	they were amazed by it as if it was a very rare and precious treasure
107:	vъzъmše že to sъ svěštami i kadili aromati že i blgovonii	and taking it with candles and censers and incenses and perfumes
	sъ radostiju položiše vъ crkvi stixъ i vъsexvalnix apslъ	they placed (it) with joy in the church of the saint and most praised Apostles
108:	vъ njei že leže mnogaa i čjudnaa znamenia tvoraše	and laying there she performed many (ʺandʺ) wondrous signs
109:	i ne tъčiju vъ straně onoi nъ	and not only in that land
	i po vъsěxъ okrstniix stranaxъ	but also in all neighbouring countries
	toje čjudesa i znamenia vъsěmъ vědomaa běxou	her miracles and signs were known to all
110:	vъsi bo iže okrъstъ nedoužnii i běsnoujuštei se	for all who were around suffering from illness or madness
	sъ věroju prixodeštei iscěljennja poloučaaxou	when they came with faith, they were healed
111:	izide že toje slouxъ po vъsei okrъstněi strani onoje	And her fame spread all around the neighbourhood of that country.
