10: Pomęnuxъ sudbi tvoi Gdi ʺI remember, Lord, your ancient lawsʺ
11: i utěšix sę ʺand I find comfort in them.ʺ
12: Ala koga tokmo so usta pomęnuvanie Bžie Čudesa i poXvalenie stixъ ego but if (this) remembrance of divine miracles and the praise of His saints is only with mouth
ne e toliko poXvalno i Bgopriętno it is not as praiseworthy and pleasing the God
ako ne xodimъ i nii po těxnoe živenie kakvotъ tie stii člvci živeęli if we, too, do not walk (the path of) their life, which these holy men had lived
13: Poneže oni iměęli vsękogi na pamęt svoi Bga i Bžia straxъ because they always had God and fear of God in their mind
14: i po zapovědi ego xodili and they followed (ʺwalked onʺ) His commandments
15: togo radi i Bgъ proslavilъ ixъ i na toę světъ i na onię that is also why God gave them glory both in this world and in the world beyond
16: Ami nii koga ne xodime po zapovědi Bžii but if we do not follow (ʺwalk onʺ) His commandments

kako može da budě poXvalenie i Prazdnovanie naši priętno na Bga i na světixъ ugodnikovъ ego how can our praising and holding feasts be pleasing to God and His saints?
17: Xvalimę nii i počitamę světii ugodnici Bžii (let us?) praise and respect God's saints
18: ala potrebno estъ namъ da pomislimъ i da rečemъ but it is (also) important for us to think and say:
19: Aџipъ tie světii ugodnici Bžii ne li sa bili i tie kato nasъ člvci were not these God's saints really humans like us?

togiva podobno estъ nam i nii da sę podъkanimъ i da sę potrudimъ na takovoe Bgougodnoe živenie then it is appropriate for us too, to decide and work on such a God-pleasing life
22: Ala gledame ne tokmo mužie što sa pokorili plotъ svoju Dxu but we do (let us?) not look only on the men, who subdued their flesh by their spirit

24: i so svoę ženskaę nemoštъ pobědili i sokrušili streli ego and they have defeated and broken his shots
25: Kakvotъ i dnešnaę staę prePodobnaę Paraskeva such (is) also the today's Saint Reverend Parascheva

30: Vъ zemli serbskoi blizu Pri grada Kalvkratię bilo nękoe selo there was a village in the land of Serbia, close to the city of Kallikratia

32: S milostinę i sъ dobrii raboti ukrašali živenie svoe they made their lives beautiful by alms and good deeds
33: I kato rodili taę Golubica Xva and, when they gave birth to that dove of Christ,

sъ brata eę Evѳimia što bil toi poslě Epskopъ Maditiiskii with her brother Euthymius, who later became the bishop of Matidia
37: i mnogo Preslavnaę Čudesa učinilъ na životě i po prestavlenii svoe and he did many glorious miracles both in his life and after his death (ʺtranslationʺ [to the heavenly dwellings])
38: A prePodobnaę Paraskeva kato sę prestavili ocъ i Mtrъ eę načenala da proxodi těsnii i priskorbnii putъ but Reverend Parascheva, as her parents died, began to follow a narrow and hard path (cf. Mt 7:13?)

40: i ne sterpě mnogo da sědi u toę mnogometęžnii světъ meždu člvci te and she could not suffer to stay in this troubled world, among humans
41: no vsę ostavi so (ʺbutʺ) she left everything
42: i poběgna u pustinju and she fled to the desert
43: i tamo ravno Agglskoe živenie provoždavaše and there she lived an angelic life (ʺequallyʺ, i.e. a life equal to that of angels)
44: Upodobęvaše sebě Bgovidcu Iliju i stomu Ioannu Krestitelju she likened herself to Prophet Elias and St John the Baptist
45: Trěva tokmo jadęše i drugii plodъ she ate only grass and other fruit

48: no tokmo na edinago Bga gledaše and (ʺbutʺ) she look only at the one and only God
što toi može da spasi sękigo ot malodušię i ot buri što sa smirennię srdcemъ who can save everyone with a peaceful heart from the anxiety and storms
49: Ami koi može da iskaži istočniki slezi eę but who could tell of the well of tears of her
i častoe i neprestannoe vozdišanie and her frequent, endless moanings?
50: I koi može da izreče na goloe zemli leganie i umrštelenie ploti svoę and who could tell of her laying on a naked floor and mortification of her flesh?
51: i ne bilъ tamo nękoi da gleda koliko li Pokloni učinęla prePodobnaę for there was no one to see how many times the Reverend (Petka) bowed
52: tokmo gledaše ju vseviděštii oko Bžie only the all-seeing eye of God watched over her
53: I ne imaše taę tamo nikakovaę griža za světovnię pustošnię vešti and she cared there for no vain, worldly things
54: tokmo mislęše za svoe duševnoe očištenie i za otvětъ Bgu na onię světъ she thought only about purifying her soul
55: kako ima da posrěšni Xrta ženixa svoego (she tought about) how she will meet Christ, her groom
56: I na vsękii denъ tova dumala and she said this every day:
57: tebě Xrste ženiše moi ištu ʺI want you, o Christ, my groomʺ
58: i tebě vsegda na umъ moi imamъ ʺand I think of you (ʺhave you on my mindʺ) permanentlyʺ
59: javi mi sę mene ʺshow yourself to me!ʺ
60: poneže tebě vozljubi duša moę ʺbecause my soul fell in love with youʺ
61: Za tova tokmo vsękogi bolěznovaše she was always tortured by this:
62: Kako da ukrasi Světilnikъ svoi how to make her lamp nice
63: i kako xoče da izide so onimi Mudrimi Děvicami da posrěšni Ženixa svoego and how she will go to meet her groom with the wise maidens
i da čue sladkii glasъ ego and to hear His sweet voice
i da sę nasladi na gledanie Krasoti ego and to enjoy the looking at His beauty
64: tova sę tokmo grižaše that was her only concern
65: i dumaše and she was saying:
66: Kogda priidu i javlju sę licu Bžiju ʺwhen will I come and show myself to the face of God?ʺ
67: no kato živeęše ona tako u taę pustinę but as she thus lived in that desert
mnogo zavidęše ei lukavii vragъ diavolъ na dobrodětelъ eę Devil, the evil Enemy, envied her virtue very much
68: I vsęki sę trudęše sъ mečtanie i s prividěnie da ustrašitъ ju and every (day?) he tried to scare her by dreams and visions
69: Mnogo krati preobrazovalъ sebě na različnię he turned himself many times to various beasts

71: No dobraę Nevěsta Xva Paraskeva višnęgo Bga bila položila priběžište sebě but Parascheva, the good bride of Christ, had made the Highest God her refuge
72: i sъ pomoštъ ego i sъ Krestnoe znamenie vsi diavoli progonęše and she chased away all the devils with His help and the sign of Cross
73: i vsę kozni ego kato nękoę paęžina rasterzavaše and she was breaking all of (Devil's) schemes as some web
74: i kraino poběždavaše ego and in the end she was defeating him
75: Počto u ženskom estestvě mužeskii razumъ predobila bila because she, with her female nature, had exceeded the male reason
76: I kakvotъ Dvdvъ Goliaѳa pobědilъ tako i Paraskeva staę lukavago diavoa pobědila and as David defeated the Goliath, so St Parascheva defeated the evil Devil
77: S takovoe priležanie i sъ dobrodětelnoe živenie ukrasila bila dušu svoju she had made her soul beautiful by such events and virtuous life
78: i bila na Xrsta Bga vozljublennaę Nevěsta and she became the beloved bride of Christ the God
79: kato da sę ispolni na neę Proročeskoe rečenie so that the prophecy was to be fulfilled on her:
80: Vozželaetъ Crъ dobroti tvoeę ʺLet the king be enthralled by your beautyʺ
81: počto sę vselilъ u neę Xs so ocemъ i so stimъ Duxomъ because the Christ moved into her with the Father and the Holy Spirit
82: I počivalъ vъ neę kakvotъ vъ Crkvi stěi and he dwelled in her as in the Holy Church
83: Vo istinnu taę staę Paraskeva učinila bila sebě Crkovъ Bga živago truly, this St Parascheva did make a church of the Living God from herself
84: Poneže supazila i uvardila dušu svoju ot grěxъ i ot světovnię nečitoti [...] because she saved and protected her soul from sin and worldly impurity
85: Dovolno godini kato sědęla staę u onaę pustinę as she sat for many years in the desert
U edina noštъ vostanala na mltvu po običaju svoemu one night she stood up to pray, as usual
86: i vozdvignala rucě svoi so umilenie na nbo and she raised her hands lovingly towards the heavens
87: i viděla Aggla Bžia and she saw an angel of God
na obrazъ mladšago presvětlago looking like a shiny young (boy)
88: i priišel pri neę and he came to her
89: i reče ei and he said to her:
90: O děvice ostavi pustinju ʺo virgin, leave the desert!ʺ
91: vozvarni sę ʺgo backʺ
92: i idi na otečestvo svoe ʺand return to your fatherlandʺ
93: poneže tamo podobno estъ tebě da otdadešъ Tělo tvoi zemli ʺbecause it is appropriate for you to give your body to the earth thereʺ
a Dxъ tvoi da poide na Agglskoe selenie ʺbut (for) your spirit (it is appropriate) to go to the angelic dwellingsʺ
94: I Prepodobnaę kato razsmotri tova viděnie i razumě and the Reverend (Petka), as she saw that vision, (ʺthenʺ she) understood,
kako tova povelenie ot Bga estъ that it was a command from God
95: i Radovaše sę kato xoče da sę razděli ot tělesnoe spreženie and she was glad that she was going to leave the prison of her body
96: a za pustinnoe živenie skorbęše but she was sad because of (leaving) the desert life
97: Poneže ničto drugoe tako dšu člčskoe ne može da očisti because nothing else can purify human soul (so well)
i na pervoobrazie da privede and (nothing else can) bring it to the original perfection
kakvotъ pustinnoe i bezmolvnoe živenie as the life in desert and silence
98: Obače i da ne bila iskala otstavila pustinju but even if she did not want, she left the desert
99: i ot tamo poišla na CriGrad and from there she went to Tsarigrad
100: i vlęzla vъ prekrasnaę Crkov stię Sofii and she entered the beautiful church of St Sophia
Tako i vъ Crkvi prestii Bdci as well as the church of Most Holy Mother of God
i že vъ Vlaxernax which is in Blachernae
101: i tamo sę poklonila na Ikonu Prečstię Bgomatere and there she bowed to the icon of Most Pure Mother of God
102: i ot tamo poišla vъ otečestvo svoe epvvat and from there she went to her fatherland, Epibates
103: Tamo nękoliko vremę poživeęla there she lived for some time
104: ala ne izměnila pustinnago truda svoego but she did not change her desert way of life (ʺworkʺ)

105: I kato približilo vremę da poide pri Bga and, as the time closed on for her to go to God,
pomolila sę prilěžno za sebě i za vsię světъ she prayed appropriately for herself and the whole world
106: i tako Blžennu Dušu svoju predala vъ Rucě Bžii and thus she rendered her blessed soul to God's hands
107: Togiva Tělo ju pogrebli po Xrstianskomu običaju then her body was buried (ʺthey buriedʺ) according to Christian custom
ala ne na izbrannoe město but not on the chosen place
108: Ala kato blgo izvolilъ Bgъ da Proslavi ougodnicu svoju but as God has well-chosen to bless His saint
i slědъ mnogo godini javil stię eę Mošti takovim obrazom (ʺsoʺ) He made her relics appear after many years in the following way
109: Někii stolpnikъ bilъ blizu postilъ one stylite had fasted there
tamo na to město gde Prepodobnaę pogrebena bila close to the place, where Reverend (Petka) was buried
110: I slučilo sę nękoemu korablenniku and it happend to one sailor
111: kato plavalъ bilъ po more as he had sailed on the sea
i razbolęl sę bilъ ot ljutaę bolestъ (ʺthenʺ) he had succumbed to a grave illness
112: i oumręlъ and he died
113: i tamo blizu izfarlilъ trupъ ego and his body was thrown (ʺhe threwʺ) somewhere there
114: i kato ležalъ na krai more onoe mertvoe tělo načenalo and as that dead body was laying on the shore
bezměrenъ smradъ da izlazi ot nego toliko an immense stench began to come out of it
poneže ne bilo vozmožno nikomu da pomine ot toę put so that (ʺbecauseʺ) no one coul pass by (ʺfromʺ) the (ʺthatʺ) road (nearby)
115: i onię stolpnikъ ne možeše da terpi onago smrada nor the stylite could suffer the stench
116: i xočeše da ostavi onię stoplъ i da poběgne ot nego ot onię smradъ and he was going to leave his pillar and to run away because of that stench
117: I povelęlъ na nękoi člvci da iskopaętъ rovъ glubokъ and (so?) he commanded some people to dig a deep hole
i da zagrebutъ onii smradnii trupъ and to bury the stinking body there
118: I kato kopaęli onii člvci toę rovъ and, as those people were digging the hole,
po Bžiju smotreniju naišle edino tělo člčskoe by God's will (?) they found a human body
ne izgnilo cělo ležalo ou zemli (which was) undecayed (and) healthy, laying in the ground
119: i kato viděli ego mnogo sa čudili and, as they saw it, they were very amazaed
na takovoe čistoe i ne izgniloe tělo because of such a pure and undecayed body
120: Ala bili člvěci ne iskusni glupavi but (those) people were inexperienced, dumb
121: i ni prigledali ego nizašto and they did not look at it with care (?)
122: no dumali meždu sebě but they spoke to each other:

Bgъ xočeše da izъjavi za nego sъ nękoi čudesa ʺGod would show some miracles about itʺ
124: i paki zasipali ego ou zemlju and they buried it back to the ground
125: tamo farlili i onię smerdęštii trupъ they threw the stinking corpse inside as well
126: i poišle vъ domi svoi and they went to their homes
127: Ou taę noštъ nękoi člvkъ ot nixъ na ime Georgia in that night, one of them, called Georgi
što bilъ mužъ Xrstoljubivъ who was a Christ-loving man
na toę večerъ pomolil sę Bgu made a prayer to God in the evening
128: i zaspalъ and he fell asleep
129: I vidělъ na soně nękoę Crica što sědęla na Presvětlomъ Prestolě and he saw in his dream a queen, sitting on a shiny throne
130: i množestvo mnogo voini okolo neę stoęli and a great many of soldiers staying around her
131: I onię Xrstoljubivii čelověkъ kato vidělъ tova mnogo sę ouboęlъ and the Christ-loving man, as he saw them, became afraid
132: i padnalъ na zemli and he fell to the ground
133: poneže ne možilъ da gleda světlosti krasoti eę because he could not look at her shine (and? of?) beauty
134: I edinъ ot světlię onię Voini potekъlъ and one of those shining soldiers stepped out
135: i poelъ ego za ruku and he took him by hand
136: i vozdvignalъ ego and he raised him
137: i reče emu and he said to him:
138: Georgia zašto toliko ne početoxte onoe stoe Tělo Prepodobnię Paraskevi ʺGeorgi, why did you not pay respect to the holy body of Reverend Parascheva?ʺ
139: no pogreboxte ego so onię smradnię trupъ ʺbut (instead) you have buried it together with that stinking corpse?ʺ

141: i da izvadite tova stoe Tělo ot tamo ʺand you should remove that holy body from thereʺ
142: i da položite ego na Čestnoe město ʺand put it on a honorable placeʺ
143: poneže xočetъ Bgъ da Proslavi rabu svoju na zemlju ʺbecause God is going to (wants?) make His servant famous on the Earthʺ
144: Togiva i onaę světlaę Crica reče emu then the shiny queen also said to him:

146: i da izvadite ot onoe město Mošti moi ʺand take my relics away from that placeʺ
147: i da položite ixъ na izbrannoe město ʺand put them on a chosen placeʺ
148: počto ne mogu da terpę onoe smradnoe tělo ʺbecause I cannot stand that stinking bodyʺ

150: i otečestvo moe epivatъ estъ gde vi sega živeite ʺand Epibates, where you do live now, is my fatherlandʺ
151: Ou taę noštъ i nękoę žena na imę Evfimia i ona takovoe viděnie viděla in that night, also a woman called Euphemia saw such a vision
152: I na outre i dvoica ta skazali na vsi ljudie što viděli and in the morning the both tol (what they heard) to all the people they met
153: Tova kato čuęli Blgověrnii onię ljudie as those faithful people heard it,
potekoša so svěšti na stię Mošti Prepodobnię Paraskevi they all went with candles to the (site of) holy relics of Reverend Parascheva

i sproti nego obladali i Bolgarskoe i serbskoi Crstvo to hold the Kingdom of Bulgaria and Serbia too

167: Togiva toi crъ selimъ napadnalъ na Gradъ Ternovъ sъ množestvo voiska then this King Selim attacked the city of Tarnovo with a great army

169: togiva ouzelъ i tię Čestnię Mošte Prepodobnię Paraskevi then he took also the honorable relics of Reverend Petka

175: ami načenali i agaręni te da privodi na poklonenie but they also started to bring the Hagarenes to bow to them
176: I po tova sę smutili agaręni te and this made the Hagarenes anxious
177: i ouboęli sę da sę nękako ne rasprostre po više tova ouvěrenie and they feared, that the faith could (ʺwill notʺ) spread more

sъ povrednoe gledanie by evil (damaging? cursing?) gaze
so čuždiĭ ženi směšenie by mixing with strange women
i sъ vsękoe lukavoe načinanie and by any other evil doings
