5:	Vsę´kogi dólžni esmỳ slíšateli móĭ, da pomęnúvamę Gga, i da poXválęme stýxъ egw`,	We are obliged, my hearers, to remember the Lord and praise His saints every time
6:	tovà námъ zavè dobrò	this leads us (?) to the good
7:	i polézno est.	and it is helpful
8:	Poné-že pomęnúvanïe Bžïe Čudesà, i poXvalénïe stýxъ egw`, mnógo ou-těšénïe podáva námъ,	because the remembrance of divine miracles and the praise of His saints gives us much comfort
9:	kakvótъ Prorókъ Dvdъ dúma:	as the Prophet David says:
10:	Pomęnúxъ súdbi tvóĭ Gsdi	ʺI remember, Lord, your ancient lawsʺ
11:	i outěšix sę.	ʺand I find comfort in them.ʺ
12:	Alà kogà tókmw so oustà pomęnú-vanïe Bžïe Čudesà i poXvalénïe stýxъ egw`,	but if (this) remembrance of divine miracles and the praise of His saints is only with mouth
	ne è tolíko poXválno i Bgoprïę´tno,	it is not as praiseworthy and pleasing the God
	akò ne xódimъ i nï´ĭ po těxnoe živénïe, kakvótъ tï´e stýĭ člvcy živéęli.	if we, too, do not walk (the path of) their life, which these holy men had lived
13:	Ponéže ony imě´ęli vsę´kogi na pámęt svо́ĭ Bga, i Bžia stráxъ,	because they always had God and fear of God in their mind
14:	i po zápovědi egw` xódili,	and they followed (ʺwalked onʺ) His commandments
15:	togw` rádi i Bgъ proslávilъ íxъ i na toę` svě´tъ i na onyę.	that is also why God gave them glory both in this world and in the world beyond
16:	Amì nï´ĭ kogà ne xódime po zápovědi Bžïĭ,	but if we do not follow (ʺwalk onʺ) His commandments
	i po Živénïe stýxъ egw`,	and the life of His saints
	káko móže da búdě poXvalénïe i Prazdnovánïe nášy prïę´tno na Bga, i na svě-týxъ ougódnikovъ egw.	how can our praising and holding feasts be pleasing to God and His saints?
17:	Xválimę nï´ĭ i počítamę světýĭ ougó-dnicy Bžïĭ,	(let us?) praise and respect God's saints
18:	alà potrébno estь námъ da pomýslimъ, i da rečémъ:	but it is (also) important for us to think and say:
19:	Aџipъ tı´e světýĭ ougódnicy Bžïĭ, ne lí sa býli i tï´e katò násъ člvcy	were not these God's saints really humans like us?
	i živéęli na tóę svě´tъ?	(did they not) live in this world (too)?
20:	amì kakóvoe živénïe prominúvali óny,	well, what kind of life they lived
	tà ímatъ segà tolíko sláva i poXvála	so much glory and praise they have now
	i ot Bga i wt člvcy.	both from God and from humans
21:	Tà kogà ispítame i čúemъ živénïe íxъ,	so when we try (?) and hear (about) their life
	togíva podóbno éstь nam, i nı´ĭ da sę` pódъkánimъ, i da sę` potrúdimъ na tákovoe Bgougód-noe živénïe.	then it is appropriate for us too, to decide and work on such a God-pleasing life
22:	Alà glédame ne tókmw múžïe štó sa pokoríli plótь svojù Dxu	but we do (let us?) not look only on the men, who subdued their flesh by their spirit
	i pobědíli stóvnagw borítelę dïávola,	and who vindicated the Devil, the destroyer of the world
23:	nò i ženỳ vooružíli sebě´ na negw`,	but also women (who) took arms against him
24:	i so svoę` žénskaę némoštь pobědíli i so-krušíli strelỳ egw`:	and they have defeated and broken his shots
25:	Kakvótъ i dnešnaę stáę prePodóbnaę Para-skéѵa,	such (is) also the today's Saint Reverend Parascheva
	štó ę dnésъ počítamę i Prazdnúvame,	for whom we pay respect and do feast today
	štò xóčem segà i da ská-žim živénïe eę`,	and about whose life we will speak now
26:	i kogà čúete da sę` počúdite, káko li tě´snoe i priskorbnoe živénïe prominúvala na tóę stъ,	and when you hear, wonder about her hard life in this world
27:	togw` rádi i Bgъ Proslávil eę` i na nbo i na zemlì,	(because) that is why God gave her glory both in the heavens and on the Earth
28:	i soxranil stóe Tě´lo eę` cě´lo i ne povrédeno wt estestvennoe izgnívanïe i rasýpanïe.	and preserved her body untainted by the natural rotting and decay
29:	Nò slúšaĭte da prïemnite pólzu.	so hear, so that you receive a boon
30:	Vъ zemlì sérbskoĭ blízu Pri gráda Kalѵkrátïę býlo nę´koe sé-lo,	there was a village in the land of Serbia, close to the city of Kallikratia
	štó sa naricálo Epivátъ,	which was called Epibates
31:	ou tó sę sélo rodíla táę svě-táę prePodóbnaę Paraskéѵa	St Reverend Parascheva was born in this village
	wt Blagočestívyxъ oca i Mtrъ, štò býli xodíli po vsę` zápovědeĭ Bžïĭ ne ouklónno.	from a pious father and mother, who followed (ʺbe atʺ) God's law without straying
32:	S mi-lostýnę i s' dóbryĭ rabóti oukrašáli živénïè svoè.	they made their lives beautiful by alms and good deeds
33:	I katò rodíli táę Golúbica Xva,	and, when they gave birth to that dove of Christ,
	xránili i nastavlę´li eę` na podóbnyę nrávy,	they cared and taught her to good habits
34:	i na zakon Bžïĭ dobrě´ naučíli eę`,	and they taught her the God's law well
35:	i prestávili sę óny vъ Nbsnyę wbý-teli:	and (then) they moved to the heavenly dwellings
36:	I wstávili ou dóm' naslě´dnicu táę Paraskéѵa	and they left Parascheva at home as their heir
	s' bráta eę` Eѵѳímia, što byl tо́ĭ póslě Epskopъ Maditï´iskïĭ,	with her brother Euthymius, who later became the bishop of Matidia
37:	i mnógw Preslávnaę Čudesà oučínilъ na životě´ i po prestávlenïĭ svoè.	and he did many glorious miracles both in his life and after his death (ʺtranslationʺ [to the heavenly dwellings])
38:	A prePodóbnaę Paraskéѵa, kató sę prestávili ócъ i Mtrъ eę`, načénala da proxódi těsnyĭ i priskórbnyĭ pútь,	but Reverend Parascheva, as her parents died, began to follow a narrow and hard path (cf. Mt 7:13?)

	s' póstъ, i s' bdénïe da oumertvę´va Tě´lo svoè,	to mortify (the desires of) her body with fasting and staying awake
	i da pokorę´va egw` na dúšu svojù.	and to subdue it to her soul
39:	Í póslě sę razgorě´ s' Bžestvénnoe želánïe,	and then she was filled (ʺengulfed in flamesʺ) by a divine desire
40:	i ne sterpě´ mnógo da sě-dì ou tóę mnogometę´žnyĭ svě´tъ méždu člvcy te,	and she could not suffer to stay in this troubled world, among humans
41:	no vsę` wstávi	so (ʺbutʺ) she left everything
42:	i pobě´gna ou pustýnju,	and she fled to the desert
43:	i támo rávno Ágglskoe živénïe provoždávaše:	and there she lived an angelic life (ʺequallyʺ, i.e. a life equal to that of angels)
44:	Oupodobę´vaše sebě´ Bgovídcu Ilï´ju, i stómu İwánnu Krestítelju.	she likened herself to Prophet Elias and St John the Baptist
45:	Trě´va tókmw jadę´še i drúgïĭ plódъ	she ate only grass and other fruit
	štó sa naxóždaše támo po onáę pustýnę,	which could be found in that desert
46:	i tò výše málo,	and even that only scarcely
47:	a wt mrázъ i wt pékъ slnéčnyĭ stupę´vaše sebě´,	and she numbed herself from (towards?) the frost and the heat of Sun
48:	nò tókmw na edínagw Bga glédaše,	and (ʺbutʺ) she look only at the one and only God
	štò tо́ĭ móže da spasì sę´kigw wt malodúšïę i wt búri štó sa smirénnyę srdcemъ.	who can save everyone with a peaceful heart from the anxiety and storms
49:	Amì kо́ĭ móže da iskáži istóčniki slézy eę`,	but who could tell of the well of tears of her
	i částoe i neprestánnoe vozdýšanïe:	and her frequent, endless moanings?
50:	I kо́ĭ móže da izrečè na góloe zemlì legánïe i oumr-štelénïe plóti svoę`,	and who could tell of her laying on a naked floor and mortification of her flesh?
51:	i ne býlъ támo nę´koĭ da gléda, kóliko li Pó-klony oučínęla prePodóbnaę,	for there was no one to see how many times the Reverend (Petka) bowed
52:	tókmw glédaše ju vsevíděštïĭ óko Bžïe:	only the all-seeing eye of God watched over her
53:	I ne ímaše taę` támo níkakovaę gríža za světóvnyę pusto-šnïę véšti,	and she cared there for no vain, worldly things
54:	tókmw mýslęše za svoè dušévnoe wčišténïe, i za wtvě´tъ Bgu na ónyę svě´tъ,	she thought only about purifying her soul
55:	kako íma da posrě´šni Xrstà Ženíxa svoegw`.	(she tought about) how she will meet Christ, her groom
56:	I na vsę´kïĭ dénъ tovà dúmala:	and she said this every day:
57:	Tebě´ Xrstè Ženíše mо́ĭ íštu,	ʺI want you, o Christ, my groomʺ
58:	i tebě´ vsegdà na oúmъ mо́ĭ ímamъ,	ʺand I think of you (ʺhave you on my mindʺ) permanentlyʺ
59:	javí mi sę menè	ʺshow yourself to me!ʺ
60:	ponéže tebě´ vozljubì dušà móę.	ʺbecause my soul fell in love with youʺ
61:	Za tovà tókmw vsę´kogi bolě´znovaše:	she was always tortured by this:
62:	Kakò da oukrasì Světílnikъ svóĭ,	how to make her lamp nice
63:	i káko xóče da izýde so ony-mi Múdrimi Děvícami da posrě´šni Ženíxa svoegw`,	and how she will go to meet her groom with the wise maidens
	i da čúe sla-dkïĭ glásъ egw`,	and to hear His sweet voice
	i da sę` nasladì na gledánïe Krasotỳ egw`,	and to enjoy the looking at His beauty
64:	tová sę tókmw grížaše	that was her only concern
65:	i dúmaše:	and she was saying:
66:	Kogdà prïídu i javljú sę lícu Bžiju;	ʺwhen will I come and show myself to the face of God?ʺ
67:	nò katò živéęše onà táko ou taę` pustýnę,	but as she thus lived in that desert
	mnógo zavídęše eì lukávyĭ vrágъ dïávolъ na dobrodě´telь eę`.	Devil, the evil Enemy, envied her virtue very much
68:	Í vsę´ki sę trúdęše s'- mečtánïe i s prividě´nïe da oustrášitъ jù:	and every (day?) he tried to scare her by dreams and visions
69:	Mnógo kráty prewbra-zóvalъ sebě´ na razlíčnyę	he turned himself many times to various beasts
	źvě´ry	The ending corresponds to jo-stem pl.acc (although zvěrь was an i-stem).
70:	i tečálъ i oustremlę´l sę na stáę	and he was running and attacking the saint
	da bỳ mógalъ nę´koĭ prepę´tïe da oučíni éĭ na tovà dobrodě´telnoe živénïe.	so that he can make that virtuous life somehow harder
71:	Nò dobráę Nevě´sta Xva Paraskéѵa výšnęgw Bga býla polóžila pribě´žište sebě´,	but Parascheva, the good bride of Christ, had made the Highest God her refuge
72:	i s' pómoštъ egw`, i s' Kréstnoe zná-menïe vsì dïávoly progónęše,	and she chased away all the devils with His help and the sign of Cross
73:	i vsę` kózni egw` katò nę´koę páę-žina rasterzávaše,	and she was breaking all of (Devil's) schemes as some web
74:	i kráĭno poběždávaše egw`.	and in the end she was defeating him
75:	Počtò ou žé-nskom éstestvě múžeskïĭ rázumъ predobíla býla.	because she, with her female nature, had exceeded the male reason
76:	Í kakvótъ Dvdvъ Golïáѳa pobědílъ, tákw i Paraskéѵa stáę, lukávagw dïávoa pobě-díla.	and as David defeated the Goliath, so St Parascheva defeated the evil Devil
77:	S takóvoe priležánïe, i s' dobrodě´telnoe živénïe, oukrasíla býla dúšu svojù,	she had made her soul beautiful by such events and virtuous life
78:	i býla na Xrstà Bga vozljúblennaę Nevě´sta,	and she became the beloved bride of Christ the God
79:	katò da sę` ispólni na néę Proróčeskoe rečénïe:	so that the prophecy was to be fulfilled on her:
80:	Vozželáetъ Crъ dobro-tỳ tvoeę`,	ʺLet the king be enthralled by your beautyʺ
81:	počtꙩ́ sę vselílъ ou néę Xs so océmъ, i so stýmъ Dú-xomъ.	because the Christ moved into her with the Father and the Holy Spirit
82:	Í počívalъ v' néę kakvótъ vъ Crkvi stě´i:	and he dwelled in her as in the Holy Church
83:	Vo ístinnu táę stáę Paraskéѵa oučínila býla sebě´ Crkovъ Bga živágw.	truly, this St Parascheva did make a church of the Living God from herself
84:	Ponéže supázila i ouvárdila dúšu svojù wt grě´xъ, i wt světóvnyę neči-totỳ. [...]	because she saved and protected her soul from sin and worldly impurity
85:	Dovólnw godíni katò sědę´la stáę ou ónaę pustýnę:	as she sat for many years in the desert
	Ou edí-na nóštь vostánala na mltvu po obyčáju svoemú,	one night she stood up to pray, as usual
86:	i vozdvígnala rú-cě svо́ĭ so oumilénïe na nbo,	and she raised her hands lovingly towards the heavens
87:	i víděla Ággla Bžia	and she saw an angel of God
	na óbrazъ mládšago presvě´tlagw,	looking like a shiny young (boy)
88:	i prïĭšel pri néę	and he came to her
89:	i rečè éĭ:	and he said to her:
90:	O děvíce wstávi pustýnju,	ʺo virgin, leave the desert!ʺ
91:	vozvarní sę	ʺgo backʺ
92:	i idì na otéčestvo svoè,	ʺand return to your fatherlandʺ
93:	ponéže támo po-dóbnw éstь tebě´ da wtdadéšъ Tě´lo tvо́ĭ zemlì,	ʺbecause it is appropriate for you to give your body to the earth thereʺ
	a Dxъ tvо́ĭ da- poíde na Ágglskoe selénïe.	ʺbut (for) your spirit (it is appropriate) to go to the angelic dwellingsʺ
94:	I Prepodóbnaę katò razsmotrì tovà vidě´nïe, i razumě´,	and the Reverend (Petka), as she saw that vision, (ʺthenʺ she) understood,
	kakò tovà povelénïe wt Bga éstь,	that it was a command from God
95:	i Rádovaše sę katò xóče da sę` razdělì wt tělésnoe sprežénïe,	and she was glad that she was going to leave the prison of her body
96:	a za pustýnnoe ži-vénïe skorbę´še:	but she was sad because of (leaving) the desert life
97:	Ponéže níčto drúgoe tákw dšu člčskoe ne móže da wčísti	because nothing else can purify human soul (so well)
	i na pérvoobrázïe da privedè	and (nothing else can) bring it to the original perfection
	kakvot pustýnnoe i bezmólvnoe živénïe.	as the life in desert and silence
98:	Obáče i da ne býla ískala wtstávila pustýnju,	but even if she did not want, she left the desert
99:	i wt támo poĭšlà na CriGrad,	and from there she went to Tsarigrad
100:	i vlę´zla vъ prekrásnaę Crkov stýę Sofï´ĭ:	and she entered the beautiful church of St Sophia
	Tá-kw i vъ Crkvi prestýĭ Bdcy	as well as the church of Most Holy Mother of God
	í že vъ Vlaxérnax,	which is in Blachernae
101:	i támo sę pokloníla na İkónu Prečstyę Bgomátere,	and there she bowed to the icon of Most Pure Mother of God
102:	i wt támo poĭšlà vъ otéčestvo svoè epѵvat.	and from there she went to her fatherland, Epibates
103:	Támo nę´koliko vrémę poživéęla,	there she lived for some time
104:	alà ne izměníla pus-tynnago trúda svoegw`	but she did not change her desert way of life (ʺworkʺ)
	sireč: Post i mltva.	that is, fasting and prayer
105:	I katò približílo vrémę da poíde pri Bga,	and, as the time closed on for her to go to God,
	pomólila sę prilě´žno za sebě´, i za vsýę svě´t',	she prayed appropriately for herself and the whole world
106:	i tákw Blžennu Dúšu svojù predála vъ Rúcě Bžïĭ:	and thus she rendered her blessed soul to God's hands
107:	Togíva Tě´lo ju pogrébli po Xrstïánskomu obyčáju,	then her body was buried (ʺthey buriedʺ) according to Christian custom
	alà nè na izbránnoe mě´sto.	but not on the chosen place
108:	Alà katò Blgo izvólilъ Bgъ da Proslávi ougódnicu svojù,	but as God has well-chosen to bless His saint
	i slě´dъ mnógw godíni javil stýę eę` Móšty takóvym óbrazom.	(ʺsoʺ) He made her relics appear after many years in the following way
109:	Ně´kïĭ stólp-nikъ býlъ blízu póstilъ	one stylite had fasted there
	támo na tò mě´sto gdé Prepodóbnaę pogré-bena býla.	close to the place, where Reverend (Petka) was buried
110:	Í slučílo sę nę´koemu koráblenniku	and it happend to one sailor
111:	katò plávalъ býlъ po móre	as he had sailed on the sea
	i razbolę´l sę býlъ wt ljútaę bólestъ,	(ʺthenʺ) he had succumbed to a grave illness
112:	i oumrę´lъ,	and he died
113:	i támo blízu izfárlilъ trúpъ egw`,	and his body was thrown (ʺhe threwʺ) somewhere there
114:	i katò ležálъ na kráĭ móre ónoe mértvoe tě´lo, načénalo	and as that dead body was laying on the shore
	bezmě´renъ smrádъ da izlázy wt negw`, tolíko	an immense stench began to come out of it
	po-néže ne býlo vozmóžno níkomu da pominè wt toę` pút	so that (ʺbecauseʺ) no one coul pass by (ʺfromʺ) the (ʺthatʺ) road (nearby)
115:	i ónyę stol-pnikъ ne móžeše da terpì ónago smráda	nor the stylite could suffer the stench
116:	i xóčeše da wstávi ónyę stóplъ i da pobě´gne wt negw` wt ónyę smrádъ	and he was going to leave his pillar and to run away because of that stench
117:	I povelę´l' na nę´koĭ člvcy da iskopáętъ róvъ glubókъ	and (so?) he commanded some people to dig a deep hole
	i da zagrebútъ ónyĭ smrádnyĭ trúpъ.	and to bury the stinking body there
118:	Í katò kopáęli ónyĭ člvcy toę` róvъ	and, as those people were digging the hole,
	po Bžïju smotrénïju naĭšlè edíno tě´lo člčskoe	by God's will (?) they found a human body
	ne izgnílo cě´lo ležálo ou zemlì,	(which was) undecayed (and) healthy, laying in the ground
119:	i katò víděli egw` mnógo sa čudíli	and, as they saw it, they were very amazaed
	na takóvoe čistoe i ne izgníloe tě´lo.	because of such a pure and undecayed body
120:	Alà býli člvě´ci ne iskúsni glúpavi,	but (those) people were inexperienced, dumb
121:	i nì priglédali egw` nízašto,	and they did not look at it with care (?)
122:	no dúmali meždú sebě´	but they spoke to each other:
123:	Da bỳ býlo tovà nę´koĭ stóe Tě´lo,	ʺif that was some (kind of) holy bodyʺ
	Bgъ xóčeše da iz'javì za negw s' nę´koĭ čudesà,	ʺGod would show some miracles about itʺ
124:	i páki zasýpali egw` ou zémlju,	and they buried it back to the ground
125:	támo fárlili i ónyę smerdę´štïĭ trúpъ,	they threw the stinking corpse inside as well
126:	i poĭšlè vъ dómy svóĭ.	and they went to their homes
127:	Ou táę nóštъ nę´koĭ člvkъ wt níxъ na íme Gew´rgïa,	in that night, one of them, called Georgi
	štò býlъ múžъ Xrstoljubívъ,	who was a Christ-loving man
	na toę` véčerъ pomólil sę Bgu	made a prayer to God in the evening
128:	i za-spálъ.	and he fell asleep
129:	Í vidě´lъ na sóně nę´koę Críca štò sědę´la na Presvět-lomъ Prestólě,	and he saw in his dream a queen, sitting on a shiny throne
130:	i mnóžestvo mnógw vóĭny wkolò neę` stoę´li:	and a great many of soldiers staying around her
131:	Í ónyę Xrstoljubívyĭ čelově´kъ, katò vídělъ tovà mnógw sę ou-boę´lъ	and the Christ-loving man, as he saw them, became afraid
132:	i pádnalь na zemlì,	and he fell to the ground
133:	ponéže ne možílъ da gléda svě´tlosti krasotỳ eę`.	because he could not look at her shine (and? of?) beauty
134:	Í edínъ wt svě´tlyę ónyę Vóĭny poték'lъ	and one of those shining soldiers stepped out
135:	i poélъ egw` za rúku	and he took him by hand
136:	i vozdvígnalъ egw`,	and he raised him
137:	i rečè emú:	and he said to him:
138:	Gew´rgïa zášto tolí-ko ne počétoxte onóe stóe Tě´lo Prepodóbnyę Paraskéѵi?	ʺGeorgi, why did you not pay respect to the holy body of Reverend Parascheva?ʺ
139:	nò po-gréboxte egw` so ónyę smrádnyę trúpъ?	ʺbut (instead) you have buried it together with that stinking corpse?ʺ
140:	skóro da poídite	ʺyou should go soonʺ
141:	i da izvádite tovà stóe Tě´lo wt támo,	ʺand you should remove that holy body from thereʺ
142:	i da položíte egw` na Čestnóe mě´sto,	ʺand put it on a honorable placeʺ
143:	ponéže xóčetъ Bgъ da Proslávi rabú svojù na zémlju.	ʺbecause God is going to (wants?) make His servant famous on the Earthʺ
144:	To-gíva i onáę svě´tlaę Críca rečè emú:	then the shiny queen also said to him:
145:	Skóro da poídite	ʺgo soonʺ
146:	i da iz-vádite wt ónoe mě´sto Móšti móĭ,	ʺand take my relics away from that placeʺ
147:	i da položíte íxъ na izbrán-noe mě´sto,	ʺand put them on a chosen placeʺ
148:	počtò ne mógu da terpę` onoe smrádnoe tě´lo,	ʺbecause I cannot stand that stinking bodyʺ
149:	po-néže i ázъ esmъ člvkъ,	ʺbecause I am a human tooʺ
150:	i otéčestvo moè epıvátь éstь, gdè vỳ segà živéĭte.	ʺand Epibates, where you do live now, is my fatherlandʺ
151:	Ou táę nóštь i nę´koę ženà na ímę Eѵfímïa, i onà takóvoe vidě´nïe víděla:	in that night, also a woman called Euphemia saw such a vision
152:	Í na oútre i dvoíca ta skazáli na vsì ljúdïe štò víděli.	and in the morning the both tol (what they heard) to all the people they met
153:	Tovà katò čúęli Blgově´rnïĭ ónyę ljúdïe	as those faithful people heard it,
	potekóša so svě´šty na stýę Móšty Prepodóbnyę Paraskéѵi,	they all went with candles to the (site of) holy relics of Reverend Parascheva
154:	i s golę´moe Blgogově´nïe izvádili íxъ wt támo,	and they removed them from there with great piety
155:	i Rádovali sę katò čì naĭšlè nę´koĭ mnogocě´nnoe sokróvište,	and they were happy as (if?) they had found a precious treasure

197:	Togw` rádi i Bgъ Proslávilъ ixъ i na nbo i na zemlì:	and because of that God glorified them both in the heavens and on the Earth
