 | slovo vtoroe svętago proroka daniila | [Title] Second Homily by the Holy Prophet Daniel |
 | toi stii prrokъ daniilъ vidělъ strašenъ sudъ bžii | thus saw the Holy Prophet Daniel at the terrible Judgement of the Lord |
 | taka kazue | thus he spoke: |
 | viděxъ | ʺI saw the Ancient of days, as the thrones were setʺ |
vetxago denmi dondeže prstoli postaviša sę | [Dan 7:9 CS ʺzręxъ dondeže prstoli postavša+sę, i vetxïi denmi sědeʺ NIV ʺAs I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat.ʺ]
 | i sědě prevěčnii na prstolě ognennomъ | ʺand the Eternal One sat on the throne flaming with fireʺ |
 | i okolo nego tmami temъ arxaggli i aggli služaxu emu so straxomъ | ʺand around him hundreds of thousands angels and archangels served him with fearʺ |
 | i poteče rěka ognenna | ʺand a river of flame flowedʺ |
 | taę rěka vrie strašno | ʺthe river is boiling horriblyʺ |
 | i klokoti | ʺand it bloatsʺ |
 | taę kě da zavleče grěšni te ou věčna muka da se mučatъ sosъ diavoli | ʺthis (river) will bring the sinners to the eternal torment, to be tormented by the devilsʺ |
 | i toi stii prrokъ danilъ ot tova viděnie mnogu se ouplašilъ | when this saint Prophet Daniel saw this vision, he became scared very much |
 | zašto vidělъ kako kě da bide strašenъ sudъ bžii | because he saw what is going to be (at) the terrible Judgement of God |
 | i mnogu imalъ straxъ | and he had feared a lot |
 | i plakalъ ot tova strašno viděnie | and he cried because of that terrible vision |
 | imalo tova vreme carъ ne věrenъ | there was a faithless king in that time |
 | toi carъ nešto mu zavidělъ ot garasъ na togo stago prroka daniila | this king had (ʺappeared to himʺ) some malice towards this saint Prophet Daniel |
 | i go frъlilъ na arslani živъ da go izedatъ | and he threw him to lions, so that they eat him alive |
 | o le čudo divno i mnogu golemo | oh, look! (what a) wondrous and very great miracle! |
 | takovii silnii i strašni arslani i ot tri dni gladni ne go izele | such terrible lions, (held) hungry for three days, and they did not eat him! |
 | ami mu se poklonile | but they bowed to him |
 | i nogi mu lizale | and they licked his legs |
 | i krotki mu se oučinile kako ovci na ovčarъ | and they became tame as sheep to a shepherd |
 | gladaite sega koi ima věra i čisto živee | look now, who has faith and lives purely! |
 | toi svętii prrokъ daniilъ ne malъ nikakovъ grěxъ | this holy prophet Daniel had no sins |
 | i bilъ čistъ kako agglъ bžii | and he was pure as an angel of God |
 | i tri dni sědělъ pri gladni arslani ou jama dlaboka zatvorenъ | and he sat for three days in a deep hole with hungry lions |
 | a tie ljutii źvěri ot stago imale straxъ ot nego | but those fierce beasts were afraid of the saint |
 | zašto vo ousta nosilъ mltvi | because he carried prayers in his mouth |
 | i imalъ bga ou negova duša | and he had God in his soul |
 | zatova ne možele da go izedatъ a҅rslani te | thus the lions could not eat him |
 | slušaite vie što nikoi patъ ne se molite bgu | you hear, who never pray to God! |
 | ni slušate što vi ouči xrstosъ ou stoe eѵaggelie | nor do you listen to what Christ teaches you in the holy Gospel |
 | ami xodite bezъ straxъ bžii | but rather you go without the fear of God |
 | teško i gorko vamъ kě da bide na vaše oumiraně | it will be hard and bitter for you, when you will be dying |
 | sekii denъ davate na diavola xiliadi vaši grěšni reči i zborovi | every day you give the Devil (his due) with your sinful words |
 | i si te vaši reči grěšni gi piše diavolъ ou negovi tevteri | and all your sinful words are written down by the Devil in his notebooks |
 | vie slepъ oumъ ne vidite tie ouzdi što vi zauzdilъ diavolъ | you (with a?) blind mind, you don't see those reins by which the Devil has caught you |
 | i vi vleče ou věčna muka | and (by which) he drags you to the eternal torment |
 | sega čoveci kako slepi na seko źlo trъčatъ kako ti na sidžiri psi te gi vikatъ da gi vrъzatъ | now, people run as blind to any evil, as dogs to chains, when they are called to be bound |
 | i oni xodatъ i trъčatъ da gi vrъzat ou sidžiri | and they go and run to be bound to the chains |
 | taka i diavolъ trъča i xodi po čoveci skoro da imъ vrъze oumo tъ | thus also the Devil runs and walks around the people to chain their minds |
da ne poznaętъ svoi te grěxovi | so that they don't know their sins
 | mnogu se radue diavolъ za tie čoveci koi ne mislętъ grěxovi te i oumiraně | the Devil rejoices much about those people, who don't think (about their) sins and death |
 | tie koi oumiratъ bezъ pokaęnie teško i gorko nimъ | it is hard and bitter to them, who die(s?) without repenting |
 | si te stii bile čisti kako aggli | all the saints were pure as angels |
 | a denъ i noštъ se molile bgu | they prayed for the day and night to God |
 | a sega legnatъ stanatъ kako dobici i kako koni | now they lay down, stand up like cattle and horses |
 | ni se prekrъstuętъ | they don't cross themselves |
 | ni metanii činatъ | nor do they pray |
 | spiatъ | they sleep |
 | i drematъ | and dream |
 | diavolъ imъ zatvorilъ oči | the Devil closed their eyes |
 | ne vidatъ patъ bžii | so that they don't see the way of God |
 | a edni se storile slugi i izmekęri na diavola | some have become servants and slaves of the Devil |
 | ne slušatъ što gi ouči xrstosъ a što gi ouči diavolъ | they don't hear, what the Christ teaches them |
 | xodatъ po baeně i po magii | they go to diviners and magic |
 | oxъ | oh |
 | bezumnii i muži i ženi si kupavatъ sami věčna muka | mindless men and woman buy their own eternal torment |
 | sami vlazatъ ou oginъ | they enter the fire by themselves |
 | a ne vidatъ si te stii ot što imale straxъ ot bga i plakale | they don't see all the saints, who feared God and cried |
 | a segašnii xrtiani ime bžie xulętъ | and the contemporary Christians blaspheme about the name of God |
 | i stoe kreštenie ispoganile so prokleto baeně i magii | and they paganized their baptism with accursed divination and magic |
 | sami se predavatъ na diavola | they gave themselves over to the Devil by themselves |
 | oxъ | oh |
 | slepi i bezumni kako kě da dadete dževatъ xrstu | you blind and mindless ones, what answer are you going to give to Christ? |
 | vie ste pljuvale na diavola koga ste se krestile | you spat at the Devil as you baptized yourself |
 | a sega pakъ se poklanętъ diavolu so baeně i magii | and now, they bow to the Devil again with divination and magic |
 | tie robotatъ na diavola | these work for the Devil |
 | i činatъ izmetъ na satana | and they make service to Satan |
 | koga se krestile oučinile nixni duši nevěsti na xrsta | when they were baptized, they made their (soul) a bride for the Christ |
 | a tie koi xodatъ po baeně oni oučinile nixni duši nevěsti na diavola | but these, who go to divination and magic, made their souls brides for the Devil |
 | sega se slepi xrtiani te | now the Christians are blind |
 | zašto ne gi oučatъ popovi | because their priests don't teach them |
 | na nixъ vika prrokъ osia | prophet Hosea calls to them: |
 | gore gore | ʺwoe, woeʺ |
 | skriša | ʺthe priests hid the way of Godʺ |
žreci patъ božii | [cf. Hos 6:9 CS ʺSkryša žercy putь gsdenьʺ, NIV ʺAs marauders lie in ambush for a victim, so do bands of priests; they murder on the road to Shechemʺ]
 | i prrokъ isaia vika | and prophet Isaiah calls: |
 | se prelъstile ot pianstvo pastiri te | ʺthe shepherds are seduced by the drinkingʺ (cf. Is 28:7) |
 | i prorokъ ieremia vika | and prophet Jeremiah calls: |
 | gore vamъ budetъ pastirie i že pogublęjutъ i rastočajutъ ovci pastvi moeę | ʺwoe to you, o shepherds, who waste and scatter the sheep of my grazing groundsʺ (Jer 23:1) |
 | zematъ volna i mleko | ʺthey take the wool and fatʺ (Ez 34:3) |
 | a ovci moi ne gi pasatъ | ʺand they don't bring my sheep to pasturesʺ |
 | edna ako zagine ot vasъ kě da ę posakamъ | ʺif one is lost, they let it soʺ |
 | tako glagoletъ adonai gsdъ Eloi savaoѳъ | ʺthus speaks Adonai, the Lord, Eloi Sabaothʺ |
 | i sega ima dvě vrata otvoreni | and now they have two doors open |
 | koi deka saka da vleze tamo vlezue | he who wants, enters |
 | vrata se kazue věra | this door is called faith |
 | ami takva věra koi ne milue ništo ot ovoi věkъ | but (it is) such faith, which does not love anything of this age |
 | tie možatъ da vlezatъ ou rai | those ones cannot enter the God's Paradise |
 | taka kazue | thus he (?) speaks: |
 | koi milue nešto ot ovoi věkъ tie ne možatъ da vlezatъ ou rai | ʺhe, who loves something of this age, those cannot enter the God's Paradiseʺ (?) |
 | zašto se dušmani bgu | because they are enemies of God |
 | se što imatъ čoveci da go imatъ kako čuždo | they are (enemies of God?) for there are men, who have Him like something alien (?) |
 | zašto oko na duša oumъ | because the the eye of the soul (is) the mind |
 | a ako oumъ misli stoka i pari | and if the mind thinks (only) about wares and money |
koi tova mislętъ tie čoveci se slepi | he, who thinks so, those people are blind
 | i oumъ nixni slepъ | and their mind is blind |
 | i komu mu xodi oumъ tamo i vamo po pomisli grěšni | and whom the mind goes here and there on bad thoughts |
togai duša e vrъzana ou temnici strašni | then the soul is bound in terrible dungeons
 | i pakъ kazue | and again, He says: |
 | žena tvoę jako loza plodovita | ʺyour wife is like a fruitful vineyardʺ (Ps 128:3) |
 | tova e plodъ na duša ako ima misli bžii i dobri | that is the fruit of soul, if it has divine and good thoughts |
 | zašto misli se bžii | because these thoughts are God's (?) |
 | a pomisli se diavolski | and (bad) ideas are devilish |
 | koi ima misli dobri blgi toi si misli za pokaęnie za rai | he, who has good thoughts, thinks about repentance (and) Paradise |
 | a drugo ništo ne misli | and he does not think of anything else |
 | a koi ima pomisli toi misli za oboi věkъ za stoka za pari | and he, who has (devilish) ideas, thinks of this age, of wares (and) money |
 | tie nikoi patъ ne se gotovi za oumiraně | these are never (ʺno way/timeʺ) ready for death |
 | tie se daleku podъ zemlę zatvoreni ou temnici strašni | these are for a long way closed in the earth, in terrible dungeons |
 | da misli vsekii čovekъ kako kě da oumre | let every human thinks about how he will die |
 | tie se misli blgi | these thoughts are good |
 | tie misli čuvatъ duša ot grěšni pomisli | these thoughts protect the souls from sinful ideas |
 | togai ima duša blgi misli kako carski voini | then he thinks as a royal soldier |
 | i čuvatъ svoę gospoža duša | and guards his lady the soul |
 | zatova trebue sekii čovekъ da e karaulъ na oumъ | for that reason, let every human be on guard for his mind |
 | da derži oumъ | to hol it |
 | da ne go pušta da xodi po grěšni pomisli | let he never lets it go about to sinful ideas |
 | zašto oumъ ne stoi | because the mind does not stand |
 | sekii časъ xodi | it moves every time |
 | ama kako xodi taka xodi | and it goes as it goes |
 | ako go derži saisbia ta | if he holds it as a landlord |
 | da mu dade rabota | (then) it gives him work |
 | tova e rabota na oumъ da misli dobri misli | the work of the mind is to have good thoughts |
 | tova e blgi misli da se moli bgu | good thoughts mean to pray to God |
 | a koi ne se molętъ bgu ami mislętъ za ovoi věkъ togai nixni ne zauzdenъ oumъ xodi po loši i grěšni pomisli | and who does not pray to God, but he thinks about this age, then their mind goes unrestrained on bad and sinful ideas |
 | oumъ dovodi ou čoveci i aggli i diavoli ne zauzdenъ oumъ dovodi na čoveci diavoli | the mind leads in both angels and devils unrestrained mind leads devils on the humans |
 | xrstosъ reklъ | the Christ said: |
 | iděže estъ sokrovište vaše tamo budetъ i srdce vaše | ʺwhere is your treasure, there will be your heart tooʺ (?) |
 | taka kazue | thus He says: |
 | deka e čoveku oumъ | ʺwhere is the mind of a humanʺ |
 | tamo mu e i duša ta | ʺthere is his soulʺ |
 | a derži oumъ ou sebe da se da ne ma grěšni pomisli | thus hold the mind close, so that it does not have sinful ideas |
 | togai duša blizu pri bga | such soul is close to God |
 | a ako ne derži oumъ ot grěšni pomisli togai duša sama i gola | and if the mind is not held away from the sinful ideas, the soul is alone and naked |
 | ne ma koi da ja čuva | there is no one to protect it |
 | sme dolžni da trъpime se što ni doide bolěstъ ili siromaštia | we have to suffer, because (when?) an illness or poverty comes |
 | i da ne xulętъ imę bžie | and we should not blame the name of God |
 | prašta bgъ na čoveci gazepi | God sends toil to men |
 | zašto kogo ne go nakaže bgъ teško nemu | because when God does not make them suffer, it is hard for them |
 | tie se daleku ot bga | they are far away from God |
 | blaze na siromasi i ma bolni | blessed are the poor and the ill! |
 | a mnogu strašno na bogati i na zdravi | and woe to the rich and healthy! |
 | oni daleče otstoętъ ot outěšenię bžię | they stand far away from seeking refuge at God |
 | pervo vreme bile čudni xrtiani | in the beginning, the Christians were wonderful |
 | oni ni gledale ni mislile za ovoi věkъ | they did not look at, nor think of this age |
 | ami denъ i noštъ mislile za onoi věkъ | they thought about the other age for the day and night |
 | zatova ostavile sladki raboti ot ovoi věkъ | for that reason they left the sweetness of this world |
 | i se oučinile pustinnikami | and they became hermits |
 | oni mislile | they thought: |
 | ako bi se oženile ne bi mogle da si čuvatъ duši te ot grěxovi | if they would marry, they would not be able to protect their souls from sins |
 | zatova se što imale ostavile | thus they left all what they had |
 | i otišle po gori po planini goli i bosi gladni i žedni | and they went to forests and mountains, naked and barefoot and hungry and thirsty |
 | i živele pri strašni arslani i pri ljuti źmii i pri divii źvěrovi | and they got to terrible lions and fierce snakes and wild beasts |
 | a bile edni ot nixъ carskii čeda | and there were royal children among them |
 | a zaradi svoi duši da ne gi zagubatъ xodile sękii denъ kako oumreni | and, for the sake of their souls, they walked like dead for every day |
 | i nikoi ne može da iskaže nixni zaxmeti po 40 i 50 i 60 godini | and no one can tell (all of) their works (they did) for 40 and 50 and 60 years |
 | sekii denъ bile gladni i žedni i goli kako ot maika roždeni | every day they were hungry and thirsty and naked as they were born from their mother |
 | i ot golemi zaxmeti kako oumreni bile | and because of hard works they were like dead |
 | a bile čisti kako aggli | but they were pure as angels |
 | sosъ takvi zaxmeti se ide ou rai | with such works one gets to the divine Paradise |
 | a drugii stii mučenici što gi mučile za věra xrstova | and other saints (were) martyrs, who were tortured for the Christian faith |
 | tri sta i 60 godini sekii denъ mučile mnogu turli muki | three hundred and sixty years, every day they tortured by many various tortures |
 | edni živi gi drale | some were flayed alive |
 | a drugii ot visoki kameně puštale gi dolu da se oubiętъ | while others were thrown down from high rocks to die |
 | a drugii ou furni gi pekle živi | and others were baked alive in furnaces |
 | i ou kazani gi varile | and they were boiled in cauldrons |
 | i na čarkovi gi vrъtele | and they were hanged on churches |
 | i na arslani gi živi gi davale da gi jadatъ | and they were given alive to lions as a food |
 | i na źmii gi frъlale da gi ougrizatъ | and they were thrown to snakes to be bitten by them |
 | i ou smrъdeni temnici gi zatvorale | and they were closed in stinky dungeons |
 | i mnogu stii mučenici ou smrъdeni temnici se prestavile | and many holy martyrs died in stinky dungeons |
 | slušaite i da vidite kolku golemi teški muki pretrъpele stii mučenici | hear and may you see, how great and hard tortures the holy martyrs suffered! |
 | tie se tokmo so arxaggeli i aggli | they are now just with archangels and angels |
 | taka gi počita staę crkovъ xeruvimi i serafimi | thus they are respected by the holy Church, by the Cherubim and Seraphim |
 | zašto ou nixъ i ou nixni duši sědělъ xrstosъ | because Christ sat next to their souls |
 | a oni pominale izъ igleni ouši | and they remembered (with?) pointed ears |
 | a sega ni mučatъ ni biętъ ni gladni ni žedni | but now (they are) not tortured, nor beaten, nor hungry nor thirsty |
 | a sami xodatъ po stremnini i propasti diavolski | but they go by themselves to the lands and abysses of the Devil |
 | xrstosъ rabotilъ *gi* godini drevodělъ da gi nauči nasъ i nie da rabotime da ne jademe čuždii potъ | Christ worked for 13 years as a carpenter to teach us too to work, (and) not to eat another one's toil |
 | pakъ koga stanalъ *l* godini sobralъ stii apsli | then, as he was 30 years (old), He collected the holy apostles |
 | xodalъ tri godini | He walked for three years |
 | mnogu čuda oučinilъ | He did many miracles |
 | oumreni oživilъ | He revived dead |
 | ot petъ xlěbovi petъ xiliadi muži nasitilъ | from 5 breads He fed 5000 men |
 | a i ženi i děca jale ot tie xlěbovi | and even women and children ate from those breads |
 | i sobrale stii apsli 21 koša troxi | and the holy apostles collected 21 baskets of leftovers |
 | posle Evrei ot zavistъ mnogu go mučile | then the Jews, because of jealousy, tortured him much |
 | *ѯz* xiliadi pati go oudrile po tova krasno i prekrasno lice | 67 thousand times they struck Him on that beautiful face |
 | go bile | they were beating Him |
 | se to tělo negovo bilo edna rana | all of His body was one single wound |
 | po tie ljuti muki go raspęle na krstъ | after those fierce tortures they put Him on a cross |
 | i mu zabile ou ruki i ou nogi golemi klinci | and they stuck big nails to His hands and legs |
 | a toi agnecъ bžii si te tie muki pretrъpělъ zaradi nasъ | and this Lamb of God lived through these tortures for our sake |
da ni otkupi ot ruki diavolski | so that He may buy us out from the hands of the Devil
 | i koga bilъ xrstosъ na krstъ tri saxati slnce se potemnilo | and when the Christ was on the cross, the sun became dark for three hours |
 | i tri saxati zemlę se tresla strašno | and the ground was shaking terribly for three hours |
 | i oživele si te oumreni tamo ou stii gradъ ierusalimъ | and all the dead were revived there, in the holy city of Jerusalem |
 | i mnogu koi bile stii gi viděle kako tie oživele | and those, who were saints, saw, how those became alive |
 | taka kě da oživeatъ tamo na onoi věkъ | thus they will arise there, in the next age |
 | i da kažeme | may we say |
 | sega vikatъ čoveci | now the people say: |
 | ni e teško ot vergia | ʺwe suffer from the taxesʺ |
 | da poznaeme pravo i čisto | let us look at it the rightly and purely! |
 | da ne xulime imę bžie | let us not blaspheme the name of God! |
 | koe e po teško dali vergia ili ljuti muki | which is worse, the tax or fierce torment? |
 | mnogu e po teško muki ot vergia | torment is much worse than the taxes |
 | togai ne sa(ka)le pari | in those times, they did not take the money |
 | ami oni davale pari koi ostavi věra bžię | they were giving the money to those, who abandoned the faith in God |
 | ama stii i moži i ženi i děca ne ostavile věra | but the saints, men and women and children, did not abandon the faith |
 | ami xodile na muki kako na radostъ | but rather, they went to torments as if to joy |
 | a sega taka da da mučatъ | but let them (try to) torture (us) now! |
 | dali bi se našelъ ot desetъ xiliadi edenъ da pretrъpi takvi ljuti i teški muki | would there be anyone among ten thousand, who would suffer through such fierce and hard torments? |
 | ama tie stii ou težki muki pěale pěsni bžii | but those saints sang songs of God from those hard tortures |
 | ama tie xrstianni imale i nosile ou nixni ousti i nixno srdce imę xrstovo | but those Christians had and carried in their mouths and hearts the name of Christ |
 | neprestanno čitale | they read ceaselessly: |
 | gsdi iise xrste sne bžii pomilui mę grěšnago | ʺo Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, may you have mercy on sinful myselfʺ |
 | oni sekii časъ xrsta molile | they prayed to Christ in every hour |
 | i xrta vikale da imъ pomože i da gi oukrěpi | and they called the Christ to help them and to make them strong |
 | xrsta vikale | they called the Christ |
 | i xrsta molile | and they prayed to Christ for that |
 | zatova i xrstosъ ou nixni duši i sědělъ | and the Christ sat at their souls |
 | i živalъ xrstosъ | and the Christ lived |
 | i imъ dalъ sila i krěpostъ | and He gave them power and endurance |
 | oni ako ne bi se molile na xrsta sekii časъ ne bi možele da pretrpatъ tolku ljuti muki | if they did not pray to Christ everytime, they would not be able to suffer so fierce torments |
 | zatova ne věrni te gi frъlale ou oginъ da izgoratъ | for that reason the unbelievers threw them to fire to burn |
 | a oginъ ne moželъ da gi izgori | but the fire could not burn them |
 | i otrovъ ne moželъ da gi otrovi | and the poison could not poison them |
 | i arslani ne možele da gi izedatъ | and the lions could not eat them |
 | i ljuti źmii ne možele da gi ougrizatъ | and the fierce snakes could not bite them |
 | o le věra kolku e silna i moleně bga i čisto živeně | oh, how strong is the faith, and the prayer to God, and pure life |
 | ama tie bžii xrstiani nikoi patъ ne se opile | but those Christians of God never got drunk |
i ne bile pięni | or were drunk (?)
 | i nikoi ne pealъ pesni diavolski | and none (of them) sang devilish songs |
 | ni svirele | and they did not play (instruments) |
 | ni igrale | and they did not dance |
 | ni si te muži i ženi kniga znale | but all the men and women knew the literature (Scripture?) |
 | večerъ i outro čitale | they read in the evening and in the morning |
 | bga molile | they prayed to God |
 | a sega ne molętъ bga | and now they do not pray to God |
 | ami peatъ pesni diavolu | but (instead) they sing songs to the Devil |
 | i se radue diavolъ so nixni dši | and the Devil rejoices about their souls |
 | i ne ležale so ženi sekii denъ | and (the early Christians) did not lay with their wives every day |
 | čisto živele kako aggli | they lived purely as angels |
 | a sega ot grěšno živeeně i ot prokleto pięnstvo oumъ zagubile | and now, because of sinful life and accursed drinking, they even lose their minds |
 | se oučinile kako bezumnii dobici | and they became like mindless cattle |
 | ot 50 i ot 60 i ot 70 godini se ženatъ po tri ženi | they marry in (their) 50s and even 60s, with (up to) three women |
 | tri ženi ne dava zakonъ | (and) the Law does not allow (ʺgiveʺ) three wives |
 | imъ vlegolъ bludnii diavolъ | the adulterous Devil laid in (the idea) |
 | i gi vleče ou muki věčnii | and he drags them into the eternal torment |
 | a oni kako slepi vidatъ verigi i ouzdi diavolskii | they, as blind ones, do not see the chains and reins of the Devil |
 | oni slepi i ne věrni ne se molętъ na xrsta | they, blind and faithless ones, do not pray to Christ |
 | ami xodatъ po prokleto baeně i magii | but they go with accursed drinking and magic |
 | oxъ slepi duši i ne věrni čoveci zašto se pisuete na diavola | o you blind souls and faithless men, why do you enlist yourself to the Devil? |
 | diavolъ gi muči | the Devil tortures them |
 | a oni pakъ vikatъ diavola | but they call the Devil again |
 | oxъ golema slepota | o how big is (your) blindness! |
 | slušaite | hear me: |
 | xrstosъ koga xodilъ po zemlę ispadilъ ot edenъ čovekъ mnogu diavoli | when the Christ walked the Earth, He banished from one man many devils |
 | a tie diavoli se molile na xrsta da imъ dade izinъ da vlezatъ ou svini | then these devils prayed Christ to allow them to enter some swines |
 | a bezъ izinъ ne možele da vlezatъ ou svini te | and without His permission they could not enter the swines |
 | koga ne može diavolъ da vleze bezъ izinъ ou svini to i xičъ ne može da vleze ou kašta i ou domъ bžii | if a devil cannot enter a swine without the Lord's permit, the less can it enter a house of God |
 | nie sički xrstiani sme domovi i kašti bžii | we all Christians are the houses of God |
 | zašto sme se pričastile tělo i krovъ xrstova | because we have taken the body and blood of Christ |
 | ne može diavolъ da vleze pri xrsta | the Devil cannot enter next to Christ |
 | ou věrnii xrstiani živee xrstosъ | Christ lives in faithful Christians |
 | a koi čoveci ne matъ čista věra ou nixъ živee diavolъ | and the men, who do not have pure faith, in them the Devil lives |
 | tie se konakъ diavolskii | they are Devil's mansions |
 | zašto xodi diavolъ po čoveci | because the Devil goes around the men |
 | i rika kako arslanъ | and he growls like a lion |
 | saka da ni izede živi | he wants to eat us alive |
 | toi ne jade meso | he does not eat meat |
 | ni pie krъvъ | nor does he drink blood |
 | ami xodi po si te čoveci | but he goes around all people |
 | imъ krade ot srdce to věra | and he steals the faith from their hearts |
 | i imъ krade oumo tъ | and he steals the mind |
 | i dava na čoveci nevěrie | and he gives to the faithlessness to the people |
 | imъ dava straxъ da gi ima ot diavola | and he makes them fear the Devil |
 | a koi imatъ straxъ ot diavola tie bga ne matъ i ne se bžii | but who fear the Devil, those don't have a God, nor are His |
 | tie se vrъzani i zauzdeni so ouzdi diavolski | they are bound and reined (?) up with devilish reins (?) |
 | sosъ tova lovi i fašta diavolъ čoveci | thus the Devil hunts and catches people |
 | zatova kazue stii ioannъ bgoslovъ | that is why John the Evangelist teaches: (?) |
 | straxъ muku imatъ | ʺfear has a tortureʺ (?) |
 | taka kazue | thus he says: |
 | koi imatъ straxъ ot diavola tie čoveci bga ne matъ | ʺthose people have no God, who fear the Devilʺ (?) |
 | tie se bezbožni | they are without God |
 | si te xrtsiani i muži i ženi imame da se borime sosъ diavola | all Christians, men and women alike, we have to struggle with the Devil |
 | ne se bori sosъ diavola tie čoveci ne možatъ da se kurtalisatъ ot ruki diavolski | those people (who) do not struggle with the Devil cannot save themselves from the Devil's hands |
 | oni koi imatъ straxъ ot diavola oni ne se bžii | those who fear the Devil, they are not of God |
 | koga ošte živi ne se bžii | as long as they live, they are not God's |
 | tie i koga oumratъ ne se bžii | and when they die, they are not God's |
 | zašto ne male straxъ ot bga | because they did not have fear of God |
 | ami se boęle ot diavola | but they feared the Devil |
 | i taka piše bratie | and thus he (John?) wrote, o brothers |
 | da se protivite diavolu | may you resist the Devil |
 | i toi kě da poběgne ot vasъ | and he will ran from you |
 | tova e protiveně da ne vi straxъ ot diavola | this is the remedy (?), so that you do not fear the Devil |
 | i da ne činite što e grěšno | and may you do not do sinful things |
 | i da ne slušate snaga na grěxovi | and may you do not hear the body about sins |
 | tova e protiveně diavolu | that is the resistance to the Devil |
 | i da se pokaete | and may you repent |
 | zašto ide oumiraně | because the death is coming |
 | i ne znaeme koga kě da ni grabne i kě da ni posěče strašna sěkira bžię ljuta smertъ | and we do not know, when the terrible axe of God, the fierce death, will catch us and slash us |
 | i kě da ni otnese tamo na strašenъ sudia iisъ xrstosъ | and it will carry us there, to the terrible judgement of Jesus Christ |
 | toi tamo ne se izmolue | He is not merciful there |
 | a ovde dokatъ sme živi e mnogu milostivъ | only as long as we are alive He is merciful |
 | i proštava sekomu sički te grěxovi | and He forgives all the sins to everyone |
 | i taka reklъ xrstosъ | thus the Christ said: |
 | si te xrstiani i muži i ženi da imatъ na oumъ | ʺmay all the Christians, men and women alike, have a chanceʺ (?) |
 | i tova da mislętъ | and may they think |
 | ovie četiri reči | (see) these four things |
 | koi misli tie reči može da bide sinъ bžii | he, who thinks about these four things, may become a son of God |
 | i može da poběgne ot si te grěxovi | and he will be able to run away from all the sins |
 | i može da oumre ou čisto pokaęnie | and he may die in pure repentance |
 | sekii tova da misli | may everyone thinks (about) this: |
 | *a* smertъ | first, the death |
 | *v* sudъ | second, the Judgement |
 | *g* crstvo nbsnoe | third, the Kingdom of Heaven |
 | *d* muka věčnaę | fourth, the eternal torment |
 | soxrani gsdi vsěxъ pravoslavnixъ ot šuię strani | Lord, save all those of the rightful faith from the left (evil?) side |
 | i nasъ polilui | and give us mercy |
 | aminъ | amen |
