7: | neino žitie i neini sti mošti i neino čudo sъs postъ i sъsъ slъzi koi ezikъ možetъ izrešti | Whose tongue could tell (of) her life and her holy relics, and her wonder with the fasting and with tears? |
8: | kolika dobrodetъ pokaza na epivatsko mesto i na trakitskoe i trъnovъ i na misia i na dalmati | How much virtue she showed in the land of Epibates and in the Thracian (land) and in and in Tъrnovo, and in Moesia, and in Dalmatia! |

18: | i rodixa taę čista devica | and they gave birth to this pure maiden |
19: | rodixa i drugo mužko otroče ime emu evtimia | they gave birth also to another, male child, his name was Euthymius |
20: | i stana na maditъ grad episkopъ | and he became the bishop of Matidia |
21: | i naučixa gi na strax bžii i na zakonъ xristianski | And they taught them to fear God and His law |
22: | i neini roditeli prestavixa se | And her parents presented themselves (died) |
23: | i ostana staę sъsъ brata svoego eftimia | and (Petka) remained with her brother |
24: | I onъ mnogo čudo pokaza | And he did many miracles too |
25: | poneže beše i toi mnogo prostilъ vsu stranu onu sъs postъ i čistota | because he was and enlightened his entire country with his fasting and purity |

31: | postъ bdenie metanie slъzi i vozdixanie | Fasting, vigil, prayer, tears and gasps |
32: | Zime ot studъ trъperaše | in the winter was trembling from cold |
33: | lete ot slnce goreše | in the summer she was burning from the sun |
34: | I trava beše ei jastie | And grass was her food |
i to na zaxodъ slnce | and even that only at the sunset | |
35: | i molba ne prestano tvoraše | and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually |
36: | i nikako ne imaše pomislъ ni za dom ni za roditele ni za srodnici ni za krasni odeždi ni za jastia i pitia | and (she) wouldn't have a thought neither about a house, nor about the parents, nor kinsman, nor about beautiful clothes, nor food and something to drink. |
37: | nikako ne pomišlęše tako | She did not think about anything like that |
38: | Tъkmo sъs slъzi i molba prebivaše | And with tears and prayers she lived |
39: | i na vsakъ čas vtoro prišestvie xvo misleše | and she thought every time about the Second Coming of Christ |
40: | kako xošteme da posreštneme xa sъs svetli svetilnici | how she will meet Christ with a prepared lamp? |
41: | i kako bi dobro sъtvorila da ukrasitъ svoju dšu | And so how to decorate her soul |
i da počuetъ glas evangelski ot Xa | to hear that voice of Christ from the Gospel: | |
42: | Priidite milostivi devici da se nasladite krasota raiskaę | ʺCome, dear maidens, enjoy the beauty of the paradise!ʺ |
43: | i tako provoždaše životъ svoi po onaa pustinę za mnogu vreme | And thus she lived her life on that desert for a long time |
44: | lukavi že diavolъ ne prestano plašeše ę | But the Devil always frightened her |
45: | i pretvaraše se jako strašenъ źverъ | And many times (he) changed himself to a terrible beast |
46: | i plašeše ju da bi ostavila pustinju | (and he) would frighten her (away) quickly to leave the desert |
47: | nъ staa imaše xa pomoštnika | But St. Petka had Christ as a helper |
48: | i ne prestano na nego vъziraše | and she look at Him perpetually |
49: | i slъzi ispuštaše | and she poured tears |
50: | egda prizivaše ba na pomoštъ vsa sila diavolska otgonęše | When she called God's help, the entire devilish power left |

52: | Vozždeleetъ crъ dobroti tvoeę | ʺthe King shall crave for your goodnessʺ |
53: | Tako i staę sъs postъ prebistъ mnoga leta vъ pustini | And like that the Saint (Petka) lived many summers in the desert fasting |
54: | i vъ edna noštъ egda tvoraše molba i molitva | And in one night, when she did prayer and prayer, |

59: | a dšu vъ nbsnaę krasota | ʺbut your soul will be in the heavenly beautyʺ |
60: | Egda staę takovo videnie vide razume kako ot ba estъ tova videnie | When the Saint saw this vision, she understood that this vision was from God |
61: | i pozna kako xoštetъ skoru da se prestavitъ | And she knew she was to die soon |
62: | i raduvaše se | and she rejoiced |
63: | nъ griža imaše kako da ostavit pustinju | and (she) was worried about leaving the desert |
64: | dševni razgovorъ | (which provides?) consolation of the soul |
65: | i togda staa ostavi pustinju | And then the Saint left the desert |
66: | i otide prežde v crigradъ | and she went first to Tsarigrad |
67: | i uleze u crkovъ | And she entered the church |
68: | i ne prestano molęše se bu | and she prayed to God perpetually |
69: | i poide po vsi crkvi jakože nekoę pčela trudoljubna | And she went to every church like a hard-working bee |
70: | i poide vъ crkov prestei bdci naricaemei vlaxerna | and (then) she went to (the) church of St Mary which is called Blachernae |
71: | i tamo pripade na ikona prestei bdci | And there she bowed to the icon of the holy Saint Mary |
72: | i mnogo izlia slъzi | and she shed many tears |
73: | i tako molęše se | And so she prayed |
74: | Gpže bce mati moę vldčce što si porodila gda ba isa xa moego | ʺO lady, Mother of God, my mother, my lady, who gave birth to my Lord God Jesus Christʺ |
i azъ na tebe nadeju se da me pomilueši | ʺand in thee I hope that thou hast mercy upon meʺ | |
i da se ne vozgnusiši ot mene | ʺdon't turn away in disgust from meʺ | |
ni ot moi grexove | ʺnor of my sinsʺ | |
75: | poneže ot moju mladosъ tvoemu snu posledovax | ʺbecause I followed thy son and prayed since my youthʺ |
76: | i molju ti se vldčce | ʺand I beg you, o ladyʺ |
77: | ti znaeši žensko esъstvo moju slabostъ | ʺyou know my womanly nature and my weaknessʺ |
78: | i tebe imamъ pomoštnica | ʺand I have you as a helperʺ |
79: | razve tebe drugo ne imamъ | ʺI have not got anything else except you.ʺ |
80: | i egda bexъ vъ pustinju tebe imaxъ pomoštnicu | ʺAnd when I was in the desert, I had you as a helperʺ |
81: | i sega esmъ vъ mire | ʺbut now I have returned into (the) worldʺ |
82: | i paki ne ostavi mene gpže bdce | ʺand again, don't leave me, o Lady, Mother of Godʺ |
83: | I poide staę vъ svoe otъčestvo Epivatъ | And the Saint went to her fatherland Epivat |
84: | i prebistъ tamo vreme ne malo | And there she stayed some time |
85: | i nikoi ne poznavaše ę | and nobody knew her |
86: | i egda vide svoe prestavlenie sъtvori molba kъ bu | and as she saw her death (coming), she prayed to God |
87: | i reče | and she said: |
88: | Člvekoljubče vldko da ne ostaviši rabu tvoju | ʺO, Lord, Lover of humans, do not leave me, Your servantʺ |
89: | na tebe gsdi azъ nadeju se da me ne ostaviši | ʺI put my hopes on You, o Lord, that You will not leave meʺ |
90: | i nastavi rabu tvoju | ʺso help Your servantʺ |
91: | kъ tebe pribegla esmъ gi bže moi | ʺTo you I fled, my Lord God.ʺ |
92: | Poveli agglu mirnu da priimetъ moju dšu i da ę sočetetъ sъs aggli i arxaggli | ʺGive a command to a peaceful angel to take my soul and to place it among angels and archangelsʺ |
93: | jako blgoslovenъ esi vo veki vekovъ | ʺfor You are praised in eternityʺ |
94: | aminъ | ʺamenʺ |
95: | I vъ toę čas predade dšu svoju vъ ruce bžii | And in this time she surrendered her soul into the arms of God |
96: | i nekoi xristiane pogreboxa telo | And some christians buried her body |
97: | i ne znaexa ot gde beše prišla | and they did not know from where she came |
98: | i tako provodi dni svoi na sego života | And so came the day in this one's life |
99: | i tamo naide večni pokoi | and there she found eternal peace |
100: | I da pokažeme kako i sъmrъti pokaza čudo | And may us show what miracle she showed (after) death |
101: | Nekoi postnikъ imaše tamo | There was a man fasting |
102: | na stlъpъ prebivaše | he lived on a pillar |
103: | i posteše se tamo blizъ groba stei petki | and he fasted close to the site of St. Petka's grave |
104: | i priluči se tamo | And so it came to pass |
105: | i umre nekoi korabčia | that one sailor died |
106: | I korabčii vrъlixa go tamo blizu pri slъpa | And the (other) sailors threw him in the vicinity of the pillar |
107: | i poče da isxoditъ smradъ ot onova telo | And stench started to come out of this body |
108: | i povele posnikъ da iskopajutъ dupka golema pri slъpa i da go zakopaętъ | And the hermit commanded to dig a big hole next to the pillar and to bury it |
109: | egda počexa kopati naidoxa telo stei petki | When they started to dig, find the body of Saint Petka |
110: | ispuštaše blgouxanie | it had a nice scent |
111: | i nekoi člvekъ imenemъ georgia pomoli se bu da mu pokažetъ bъ | And a certain man, with the name Georgi, prayed to God to show him (?). |
112: | Egda večerъ bistъ leže spati | When it was evening, he lied down to sleep |
113: | i vide na snъ edna žena crca krasna sede na prestolъ zlati i voine mnogo okolo neę | And he saw a woman in his dream, a beautiful queen, sitting on a golden throne and many warriors around here |
114: | i ufati georgia | And (one of the soldiers) seized Georgi |
115: | i reče mu | and he said to him: |
116: | Počto ostavixte smrъdlivo telo pri mošti stei | ʺWhy did you leave the dead body next to the holy relics?ʺ |
117: | Nъ skoru poidi | ʺGo quicklyʺ |
118: | i izvadi mošti stei petki | ʺand retrieve the relics of Saint Petka!ʺ |
119: | I postavi gi u govčegъ zlati | ʺAnd put them in a golden coffinʺ |
120: | poneže i crъ požali neini mošti | ʺbecause the king honoured her relicsʺ |
121: | i gъ xoštetъ da ę proslavitъ | ʺand God wants to make her famousʺ |

124: | Skoro da me izvadiši ot toę smradъ | ʺyou should get me out of this stench quicklyʺ |
125: | Ne boiši li se ba da ne padnetъ ognъ ot nbsa da vi pogoritъ | ʺdon't you fear God will throw fire from heaven on you?ʺ |
126: | poneže azъ esmъ ot epivatia | ʺbecause I am from Epibatesʺ |
127: | i taę noštъ i druga nekoę žena imenemъ еfimia | And this night and some other woman, called Efimia, |

131: | i zanesoxa ixъ sъsъ temianъ i svešti | and they took them with thyme and candles |
132: | i položixa ixъ vъ crkovъ stix aplъ | and they laid them down in the church of the Holy Apostles |
133: | i tamo mnogo čudo sъtvori | And there many miracles happened |
134: | togda mnogo besni isceli slepi gluxi i vsakna bolezni koi prixoždaxa sъs vera | then she healed many possessed, blind, deaf and all (other) ill, who came with faith |
135: | i proču se po vsa zemlę epivatska | and it was famous around the whole land of Epibates |
136: | Ne tъkmo epivati nъ do Crigradъ | (and) not only in Epibates, but in Tsarigrad, too |
137: | i togda beše oslabelo grъčesko crtvo | And afterwards the Greek kingdom weakened |
138: | i sъs bžiemъ proizvoleniemъ priidoša rimlęne | And with God's will the Romans came |
139: | i uzexa crigradъ | and they took Tsarigrad |

163: | Ne iskamъ ot vasъ ni zlato ni srebro tъkmo što imatъ u epivatъ mošti stei petki da mi go poslete sъs kovčega | ʺI don't want gold or silver from you, only the relics of Saint Petka that there are in Epivat, that you send me them with the coffinʺ |

169: | Egda poču crъ takiva reči provodi preosštennago Marka mitropolita velikago sъs mnogoju čъstъ da poidetъ do epivatъ grad da prenesetъ telo prepdbnia petki vъ slavnii grad trъnovъ | When the king heard these words, he commanded Marko the superior mitropolit with great honors to go to Epibates and to take the body of the Reverend Petka in the glorious city of Tarnovo |
