32: i porevni i sa katu apostolski zakon da uluvi and it came to her mind (ʺit wanted to herʺ) as an apostolic law
33: i na gola zimja biz postelka ližeši and she laid herself on the ground without a bed
34: i ut negu baška pak i sa ispalni sarce to sas revnust and from here (ʺhimʺ) again, her heart was filled with desire

35: i pubjagna ut tamo and she ran away from there
36: i utidi u pustine tu and she went to the desert
37: i tamo pominuvaši života si angelski čin and an angelic host lived there
38: i sa upriliče kato na prorok ilia i katu na ioanna krastitelja and she likened herself to Prophet Eliah and to John the Baptist

49: i pak lukavii diavol neprestanno e plašeši and the evil Devil didn't cease to frighten her
50: i mlogo patja sa pristruvaši katu zvjar strašen and many times (he) changed himself to a terrible beast
dano e uplaši ta da ustavi pustine tu to frighten her (and thus force her) to leave the desert
51: ama sfetae petka imaši si boga pomoštnika but St Petka had God (as a) helper
52: i ni i prisekvaxa salzi ti ut uči ti i and the tears didn't stop (to flow) from her eyes
53: i sička xitrus diavolska pubjagvaši i lipsvaši ut neina ta molba and all the devilish cunning was vain because of (ʺdisappeared fromʺ) her prayer
54: ta etu takvazi sila beši dubila tja ut boga such a power she had acquired from God
55: i tai sa podkaneši and thus she had decided to live
56: makar da beši žina altough she was a woman
57: ama ispalnena beši sas duxa sfetago but she was filled (by the) Holy Spirit

68: da ustaviš tui pustine ʺ(you should) leave the desertʺ

70: pak da si utidiš na baštnina ta tvoe ʺ(you should) go back to your homelandʺ
71: zaštotu tamo ti i dadinu da si ustaviš telo tu ʺbecause it is given for you to leave your body thereʺ
72: a dušja ta ti se badi na xubavii i slatkii rai ʺand your soul shall be in the beautiful and sweet Paradiseʺ
73: katu vide sfetae petka tui videnie i katu čju teizi dumi as St Petka saw this apparition and heard those words
i razumja oti e ut boga toizi xaber dunee (ʺandʺ) she understood, that this news (?) was from God
74: i pozna či šte sa prestavi skoru and she found out that she will die soon
75: i sa zaradva zaradi tui and she was glad because of it
76: a pak drugu pak sa grižeši and yet she worried (ʺyetʺ) about something else
kak šte da ustavi pustine tu tamo how will she leave the desert
77: zaštotu ni moži drugu ništu da učisti na čeloveka dušja ta mu kakvotu pustine tu because nothing else can purify the human soul as a desert
78: i tugis sfetae petka katu i dodi ut boga toizi xaber ta and then, as St Petka heard that news
i da nii i sa šteši da ustavi tamo unui pustine even though she didn't want to leave that desert

81: i flezi f čerkova ta xristova u sfetae sofia and she entered the church of Christ, to the St Sophia
82: i molba neprestanno deto struvaši and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually

i sička ta nošt stueni na molba sjakugis and staying awake every night, always praying

85: i ubikuli sički ti čerkovi katu njakuja rabotna pčila and she visited all the churches as a diligent bee

86: i utidi i f čerkova ta na presfetae bogorodica štutu sa vika vlaxernae and (then) she went to the church of the most-holy Mother of God which is called Blachernae
87: i tamo pripadna na ikona ta i na presfetae bogorodica and there she came (ʺfellʺ?) to the icon of the most-holy Mother of God
88: i salzi ut uči ti si mlogo izlivaši and she poured a lot of tears from her eyes
89: i dumaši molitva and she said a prayer:
90: na tebe pripadam vladičice ʺI bow to you, o Ladyʺ
štutu si porodila na sičkija sfet xrista boga ʺyou, who has given birth to Christ the God for the whole worldʺ
91: as sičkoe moe život na tebe gu pridadux i ʺI dedicated my whole life for youʺ
vladičice moe presfetae bogorodice ʺo my Lady, most-holy Mother of Godʺ
92: i na tebe si nadjavam da ma pomilvaš ʺand in yourself I hope that you have mercy upon meʺ
93: i ni dei sa gnusi ut mene detu sam tvoe rabine ʺdon't turn away in disgust from me, your servantʺ
94: za i as ut mladus ta si moja podir tvoego sina tragnax ʺbecause I followed your son since my youthʺ
95: i mola ti sa presfetae bogorodice ʺand I pray to you, most-holy Mother of Godʺ
96: ti znaš moe ta ženska rabuta i moe ta slabus ʺyou know my womanly nature and my weaknessʺ

97: ami ti presfetae bogorodice badi mi pomoštnica ʺbut you, o St Mother of God, be my helperʺ
98: zašto usim na tebe na drugo mesto ne mam nadežda da sa nadjavam ʺbecause I have no hope at another place than by yourselfʺ
99: ami ti mi badi naklunjavanie ʺbut you be my teacher (?)ʺ
da ma nakluniš na dobro i na pokajanie ʺso that you leads me to the goodness and remorseʺ

čerkova na presfetae bogorodica (in the) church of the most-holy Mother of God
107: i plaka tamo u toe sarce and wept there, at that heart
108: i izlezi ut čerkova ta and she went out of the church
109: ači tragna tugis da idi du epivaѳi na neinu tu baštnino and really she went (ʺto moveʺ) to Epibates, her fatherland
110: i sidja tamo mlogo vremi and she sat there for a long time
111: i nikui ja ni puznavaši and nobody recognized her
112: i tamo po čestu i metani and there (she did much) kneeling
i stueni sička ta nošt na molba and staying awake for the whole night, praying

127: i nie pozna nikui du negu čjas and no one knew her until that (?) moment
ut de i dušla (nor) whence she came
128: i etu tai si isprovodi dini ti sfoi taizi sfetae prepodobnae petka tuka na zimja ta and thus this St Reverend Petka passed her days here on the Earth

130: ami i tuka ni e ustavi gospod bog za mlogo vremi skrita v zimja ta i da but even here, Lord God wouldn't leave her hidden in the Earth for long

132: njakui si askitija imaši tamo na blizu pri groba i na sfetae petka there was one hermit nearby, close to the grave of St Petka

137: i farlixa telo tu mu njakui xora tam plizu pri unas kula and they threw his body there, close to that tower
deto sideši na nee onzi puštinak where the hermit sat
138: i tugis fmirisa sa pal ta mu na unugos gimičie and then the flesh of that sailor began to stink
139: i ze da vuni zla vunja and a terrible stench started to come out (ʺto stinkʺ)
kolkutu veči ni možeši ut tamo da primini čelovek so much that one couldn't pass by
140: naidno i onzi puštinak i toi ni možeši veki da tarpi ut unas maršja detu voneši tolkus neither the hermit could suffer that corpse, which was stinking so much, any more
141: i f idin den slezi onzi postnik ut kula ta si and one day he climbed down from the tower
142: i nameri čeloveci and he found (some) men
143: i reči im da iskupaet idin trap guljam and he told them to dig a big hole
i tamo da ugudat unui vuneštu telo štutu mirišeši and to throw that stinking body there
144: i xora ta uneizi poslušexa unugos puštinaka and those people obeyed that hermit
145: i utidaxa tamo and they went there
146: i zexa da kupaet and started to dig
147: i namerixa telo tu i na sfetae petka tzjalu i xubavo and they found the body of St Petka, healthy and beautiful
148: kolkutu navivaši neina ta xubava mirizma unaizi mirizma vunešta ta (and) how much her beautiful scent covered the odor of that (ʺstinkingʺ) stench!
149: i uneizi čeloveci bjaxa glupavi i ne razumni and those people were dumb and irrational
150: ta ni mužixa da sa usetat zaradi unui sfetoe telo and they couldn't understand that (it was a) holy body
151: zaštotu i nikui ni znaeši zašto i tamo pogrebena sfetae petka because nobody knew that (ʺwhyʺ?) St Petka was buried there
152: oti because she was buried since long
ut kole beši pogrebena (ʺbecause since when she was buriedʺ ?)
153: i mlogo sa čjudixa kak da storat and they wondered a lot what should they do
154: i rekuxa pumiždu si and they said to each other:
155: koi pak da kupai pak na drugu mjastu ʺwho would dig elsewhereʺ
156: ami etu toizi trap tuka kak e tolkus dalbok i šerok ʺlook, how wide and deep is this grave!ʺ
157: ami da turim vatre i taizi vuneštae palt ʺso, let's throw that stinking corpse there as wellʺ

170: i ni možeši da gleda unaizi sfetlina and he couldn't watch that light for its beauty
171: i idin ut uneizi xubavi i sfetlivi momci pristapi and one of those beautiful shiny young men stepped to him

i ʺand from that other one, whom you have put there, and his stenchʺ

202: i položixa ja f čerkova na sfeti ti apostoli and they laid her in the Church of the Holy Apostles
203: i tamo mlogo čjudo stori tugis sfetae petka and St Petka then performed many miracles there
204: besni sa iscirixa i bolni i gluxi the mad were cured, and the ill, the deaf and the wounded as well
205: i ut drugi bolesti sjakakvi sa iscirixa and they were healed from all kinds of other illnesses
206: koito duxoždaxa sas vjara čistae i sas ljubov i sas se sarce na sfetae petka toizi čjas sa uzdravjavaxa those, who came, and had pure faith and love for St Petka from the whole heart, were cured instantly
