3:	Σλάντσι τꙋ κόλκꙋτꙋ ήμα σφετλινά τά σφέτι,	As the sun has light to shine
4:	τὰ τόλκꙋζη ε η πομενꙋ́βανη τꙋ η να πρεπο-δόμπναε μάηκα νάσια πέτκα.	such is also the remembrance of our Reverend mother Petka
5:	ϛꙋτꙋ- σα η προσφετίλα πο σήτζκηε σφέτ.	which has spread all over the world
6:	νέηνꙋ- τꙋ τζιꙋ́δο η νέηνꙋ τꙋ γꙋβέενι κόη ηζήκ μόζι γꙋ δα ησκάζα	whose tongue could explain (all) her miracles and life?
7:	ϛꙋτꙋ́ ή ϛόριλα τιά δομπρά ράμπο-τα να επιβάτσκο μιάϛꙋ.	what good deeds she did in the land of Epibates
	η να τρακήησκο, η να τάρνοβꙋ, η να μησήια, η να δαλμάτι,	and in Thrace, and in Tarnovo, and in Moesia, and in Dalmatia
	η νιά- τꙋκꙋ̀ πὸ τιάχ μεςτά, αμὴ η πο σήτζκηιὰ σφιάτ.	and not only in those lands, but also all around the world?
8:	δέτο νάσηια ꙋ́μ νι μόζι ποςτήγνα	that, which our mind cannot comprehend
	ηλή ηζή-κε νι νάσι δα ηζριτζέ η δα ηςκάζη	or our tongue cannot explain
	σήτζκο τꙋ η νέηνο τζιꙋ́δο η δομπρό, η γꙋβέενι η σάλζη,	all her miracles, good (deeds) and life and tears
9:	ά-μη τꙋκꙋ̀ κόλκꙋτꙋ νάσїα ꙋ́μ ποςτήγνα	but only so much, as our mind can comprehend
10:	τα να-πήσαχ άς εβθήμїε πατρїάρχ τάρνοβσκη, ϛꙋτꙋ̀ ζνάεχ	so I, Patriarch Euthymius of Bulgaria, wrote down what I knew
11:	η τꙋ́η ναπήσαχ.	and thus I wrote
12:	αμὴ η βήε πο-σλꙋ́σεητη μπλαγοσλοβένι χριςτένι	but you hear me, o blessed Christians
13:	Τάηζη σφετάε η πρεποδόμπναε πέτκα ταї μπέσι ꙋτ επїβάτσκο μιάςτꙋ.	this Saint Reverend Petka was (ʺsoʺ) from the land of Epibates
14:	μπαϛά η η μάηκα η, μπιάχα δομπρή η πραβοβέρνι χριςτένι	her father and her mother were good, orthodox Christians
15:	η χόδε-χα πꙋ̀ μπόζηη ζάποβεδ.	and they followed God's commandments
16:	μηλοςτήνια ϛρꙋ́βαχα	they gave alms
17:	η- δρꙋ́γι δομπρηνή μπιάχα ꙋ τιάχ τεκμήλ,	and they were full of other virtues
18:	η ροδί-χα τάηζι τζίςταε γάλαμπιτσα η δεβήτσα,	and they gave birth to this pure dove and maiden
19:	η ροδίχα η δρꙋ́γꙋ μάσκꙋ δέτι	and they also gave birth to another, male child
	ημη τꙋ μꙋ εβθήμηε	his name was Euthymius
	δέτο τόη ϛάνα νασέτνε βλαδίκα να μαδήτ.	who later (ʺfinallyʺ) became the bishop of Madit
20:	η ναꙋ́-τζιχα γι να ϛράχ μπόζηη η να ζακόν δόμπαρ,	and they taught them to fear God to (follow) the (ʺgoodʺ) law
21:	η ꙋμριάχα τηή.	and they died
22:	α πὰκ σφετάε πέτκα ꙋςτάνα σὰς μπρὰτα ση εβθήμηε	and thus St Petka remained with her brother Euthymius
	δέτο ϛάνα βλαδίκα να- μαδήτ.	who became the bishop of Madit
23:	τα η τόη μλόγο τζιꙋ́δο ποκάζα τάμο	and he showed many miracles there too
24:	ζα-ϛότꙋ μπέσι σα η τόη προσφετήλ σὰς γꙋβέενїε μλόγο η δομπρηνή.	because he, too, sanctified himself much by his piety and virtues
25:	ζαραδὶ τꙋ́η σα η ποσφετή ї- τόη	for that reason he also sanctified himself (ʺtooʺ)
26:	η νέγοβη τη σφετήη μόϛη η δꙋ δνέςκα, τζιꙋ́δνο ηςτζηριάβανιε ϛρꙋ́βατ.	and his holy relics cause miraculous healings even today
27:	η σφετάε πέ-τκα ꙋτ κατꙋ́ ησπροβόδι μπαϛά ση η μάη-κα ση	and St Petka (ʺas sheʺ) followed her father and her mother
28:	τα γὶ πογρέμπα,	and then she buried them
29:	η γὶ ꙋρεδί δομπριά,	and she gave them their due well
30:	α τζι πꙋδμπρὰ ꙋτ τꙋγής γꙋβέενι	and since then she concentrated on piety
31:	η μετάνїε η ϛꙋένι σήτζκα τα νώϛ να μόλμπα.	and (she performed) bowing and staying awake every night for prayers
32:	η πορέ-βνη η σὰ κατꙋ́ απόστολσκη ζακόν δα ꙋλꙋ́βη	and it came to her mind (ʺit wanted to herʺ) as an apostolic law
33:	η να γόλα ζημιά μπιζ ποστέλκα ληζέσι.	and she laid herself on the ground without a bed
34:	η ꙋτ νέγꙋ μπαςκά πάκ η σά ησπάλνι σαρτζέ το σὰς ρέβνꙋςτ	and from here (ʺhimʺ) again, her heart was filled with desire
	η σὰσ μήσαλ μποζέστβενναε ζα-ραδὶ δα ήδι φ πꙋϛινέ τꙋ	and divine thought to go to the desert
35:	η πꙋμπιάγνα ꙋτ τάμο	and she ran away from there
36:	η ꙋτήδη ꙋ πꙋϛινέ τꙋ.	and she went to the desert
37:	η τάμο πομηνꙋ́βασι ζηβότα ση ανγελσκη τζίν	and an angelic host lived there
38:	η σά ꙋπρηλήτζε κατό να πρόροκ ηλήα η κατꙋ́ να їωάννα κραςτήτελια.	and she likened herself to Prophet Eliah and to John the Baptist
	σὰς γꙋ-βεενὶ η σὰς ματάνїε η σὰσ σάλζη δέτο πλάτζεσι.	with her piety and bowing and tears, which she cried
39:	να ϛꙋ́δ η να πέκ σήτζκο τꙋ ταρπέσι	she suffered everything in both cold and heat
40:	η κꙋ́ς-φασι ζαρατ έδενι, πꙋ μάλκꙋ τρηβήτζα	and she ate (ʺas for eatingʺ) a bit of grass
	η τό ꙋτ βέτζερ να βέτζερ.	and even that only in evenings
41:	η μόλμπα νεπρεςτάν-νο ϛρꙋ́βασι	and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually
42:	η ζα νίϛꙋ νέ μασι μήσαλ ζα τό-ηζη σφιάτ.	and (she) wouldn't have a thought about the world (?)
	ηλη ζα δομπρά δρέχα δα ꙋμπήτζε.	nor about good clothes to wear
	ηλή ζα ρώδ.	nor about a family
	ηλή ζα ημάνι.	nor about wealth
43:	αμὶ τꙋκꙋ́ ꙋτζή τε η μπεχά σὰσ σάλζη πάλνι δενιά η νοϛιά η μόλμπα να μπόγα	but only her eyes were filled by tears by day and night and prayers to God
44:	η σητζκα τα η μήσαλ η ναδέζδα μπέσι να γόςποδε μπόγα.	and all of her thoughts were the hope of the Lord God
45:	η μη-σλεσί ζα φτόρꙋ τꙋ πρησέστβїε. η ζα μπόζηε- το ϛράσνꙋ σαδόμπηϛι.	and she thought about the Second Coming, about the Divine Judgment
	η κάκ δα σή ꙋρηδή η δα ση πρημηνί δꙋσιά τα νέηνα. η δα ποσρέ-σνι χριςτά μπόγα σὰς σφέτίλνικ ꙋκρασέν.	and how to decorate her soul, to meet Christ the God with a decorated (prepared) lamp
	η κακβό δομπρό δα ςτόρι	and what good deed should she do
	δα τζιꙋ́η τꙋγίς γλάς κρό-τακ ꙋτ γόςποδα μπόγα.	to hear that meek voice of the Lord God
	η κάκ δα ηςπάλνι σφε-τήλνηκα ση σφόη σὰς ζηητίν	and how to fill the lamp with oil (Mt 25:1-13)
	δα φλέζη σας χήτρη τη δεβήτζη ꙋ ράї.	to enter the Paradise with the wise maidens
	δα σά νασήτι να κρασοτά η χꙋ́μπꙋς ράησκα ή σφετλινά	to satisfy herself with the heavenly glory and (the) beauty and (the) light
	η πέσνη άνγελσκη	and (the) angelic songs
46:	τꙋκꙋ̀ ζαρὰτ- τꙋη μπέση η μησαλ τά.	her thoughts were (directed) only for that
47:	η τβάρδε ταγꙋ́βασι σὰς- σαρτζέ το ση	and (she) yearned powerfully in her heart
	κάκ δα πολꙋ́τζι ꙋνꙋ́η δομπρό	how to receive that boon
48:	η έτꙋ τάη ση σπρꙋβάζδασι σφόε ζηβότ πꙋ ꙋνꙋ́η πꙋ-ϛηνέ, ζα μλόγο βρέμη.	and thus she lived her life on that desert for a long time
49:	η πάκ λꙋκάβηη διάβολ, νεπρεςτάννο ε πλάσεσι	and the evil Devil didn't cease to frighten her
50:	η μλόγο πάτια σα πρηϛρꙋ́-βασι κατꙋ́ ζβιάρ ϛράσεν	and many times (he) changed himself to a terrible beast
	δανό ε ꙋπλάσι τα δὰ ꙋστάβι πꙋϛινέ τꙋ.	to frighten her (and thus force her) to leave the desert
51:	αμὰ σφετάε πέτκα ήμαση- ση μπόγα πομόϛνικα	but St Petka had God (as a) helper
52:	η νηή η πρησέκβαχα σάλζη τη ꙋτ ꙋτζή τη η.	and the tears didn't stop (to flow) from her eyes
53:	η σήτζκα χήτρꙋσ διάβολσκα πꙋμπιάγβασι η λήπτζβασι ꙋτ νέηνα τα μόλμπα.	and all the devilish cunning was vain because of (ʺdisappeared fromʺ) her prayer
54:	τα έτꙋ τακβάζη σήλα μπέσι δꙋμπήλα τιά ꙋτ μπόγα	such a power she had acquired from God
55:	η τάη σα πόδκάνεσι	and thus she had decided to live
56:	μακάρ δα μπέσι ζηνά,	altough she was a woman
57:	αμα ησπάλνενα μπέσι σὰς δꙋ́χα σφε-τάγο	but she was filled (by the) Holy Spirit
58:	τα ζαρατ τꙋ́η μπιάγασι ꙋτ νέε σήλα διά-βολσκά	and for that reason devilish force ran away from her
59:	η ηστζέζβασι κατꙋ̀ δήμ.	and disappeared as a smoke.
60:	η προροκ τζάρ δαβίδ ζα τακβήζη ζηνί προροκꙋ́βασι	and Prophet-King David prophesized about such women
61:	η δꙋ́μασι˸	and said:
62:	σέ	ʺLet the king be enthralled by your beautyʺ (NIV Ps 45: 11)
	βαςζηλέη	RCS (Ps 44: 11): ʺvozželáetъ crь dobróty tvoeę`ʺ
	τζάρ δꙋμπρινά τα τβόε	Vuković 1536: ʺvьždélějetь crь dóbro_tě tvojeìʺ
63:	η τάη σφε-τάε πέτκα πρημήνα μλόγο γꙋδήνι τάμο φ ꙋ-νꙋ́η πꙋϛινέ.	and thus lived St Petka for many years in the desert greatly fasting
64:	η φ ιδνά νόϛ	and (ʺinʺ) one night
	κατꙋ ση ϛρꙋ́βασι μόλμπα τα η μετάνι τι	as she was doing her prayers and bowing
	η ρατζέ τι ση βαςδίγασι ναγόρε η πλάτζεσι, η	and she raised her hands high and wept
	έτꙋ άπανσασ βήδε ε-δνό μποζέστβεννοέ βηδένїε	and here suddenly she saw a divine apparition
	τζι δόδι ηδίν άν-γελ	that an angel came
65:	η σά ηβή κατꙋ ηδίν μλάτ μόμακ	and he appeared as a young boy
66:	η- σφέτεση κατꙋ́ σφέσ	and (he) shined as a candle
67:	τά η ρέτζι˸	and he said:
68:	δα ꙋςτάβισ τꙋ-η πꙋϛινέ	ʺ(you should) leave the desertʺ
69:	η δα σὰ βάρνις	ʺand go backʺ
70:	πάκ δα σὴ ꙋτήδις να μπάϛνινα τα τβόε	ʺ(you should) go back to your homelandʺ
71:	ζαϛότꙋ τάμο τη η δάδινꙋ δα σή ꙋστάβις τελώ τꙋ	ʺbecause it is given for you to leave your body thereʺ
72:	α δꙋσιά τα τι σέ μπάδι να χꙋ́μπαβηη η σλάτκηη ράї.	ʺand your soul shall be in the beautiful and sweet Paradiseʺ
73:	κατꙋ̀ βήδε σφετάε πέτκα τꙋ́η βηδένїε η κατꙋ́ τζιꙋ́ τέ-ηζη δꙋ́μη	as St Petka saw this apparition and heard those words
	η ραζꙋμιά ώτη ε ꙋτ μπόγα τόηζη χαμπέρ δꙋνέε.	(ʺandʺ) she understood, that this news (?) was from God
74:	η ποζνά τζι σε σὰ πρεστάβι σκόρꙋ	and she found out that she will die soon
75:	η σά ζαράδβα ζαραδί τꙋ́η.	and she was glad because of it
76:	α πὰκ δρꙋ́-γꙋ πάκ σα γρήζεσι	and yet she worried (ʺyetʺ) about something else
	κακ ϛέ δα ꙋστάβι πꙋϛι-νέ τꙋ τάμο.	how will she leave the desert
77:	ζαϛότꙋ νι μόζη δρꙋ́γꙋ νίϛꙋ δα- ꙋτζίςτη να τζελοβέκα δꙋσιά τα μꙋ κακβότꙋ πꙋϛινέ τꙋ.	because nothing else can purify the human soul as a desert
78:	η τꙋγίς σφετάε πέτκα κατꙋ́ η δόδι ꙋτ μπόγα τόηζη χαμπέρ τα	and then, as St Petka heard that news
	η δα νηή η σα ϛέσι δα ꙋςτάβι τάμο ꙋνꙋ́η πꙋϛινέ,	even though she didn't want to leave that desert
	α τιά γꙋ ꙋςτάβη.	she left it
79:	η ϛανα	and she stood up
80:	τα ꙋτήδι νάη ναπρέτ φ τζάριγράτ.	and went first to Tsarigrad
81:	η φλέζη φ τζέρκοβα τα χριςτόβα ꙋ σφετάε σοφїα.	and she entered the church of Christ, to the St Sophia
82:	η μόλμπα νεπρεςτάννο δέτο ϛρꙋ́βασι,	and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually
83:	κόη μόζι δα δꙋηςκάζη. τόλκꙋζη μετάνη η πόκλο-νι	how could one describe so many kneelings and bowings
	η σήτζκα τα νόϛ ϛꙋένι να μόλμπα σιά-κꙋγις.	and staying awake every night, always praying
84:	η πλάτζεσι η ταγꙋ́βασι ζα πꙋϛινέ τꙋ ꙋ-νꙋ́η ϛꙋτꙋ γꙋ́ ꙋςτάβι.	and she wept and craved for the desert
85:	η ꙋμπηκꙋλί σήτζκη τι τζέρκοβι κατꙋ́ νιάκꙋια ραμπότνα ψιλά,	and she visited all the churches as a diligent bee
	ϛꙋτꙋ́ ꙋμπηχόζδα σήτζκη τι τζβιάτꙋβι πρόλετνι.	which visits all the vernal flowers
86:	η ꙋτήδι η φ τζέρκοβα τα να πρεσφετάε μπογορόδι-τζα ϛꙋτꙋ σά βήκα βλαχέρναε	and (then) she went to the church of the most-holy Mother of God which is called Blachernae
87:	η τάμο πρηπά-δνα να ηκονα τα η να πρεσφετάε μπογορόδιτζα.	and there she came (ʺfellʺ?) to the icon of the most-holy Mother of God
88:	η σάλζη ꙋτ ꙋτζή τη ση μλόγο ηζλήβασι	and she poured a lot of tears from her eyes
89:	η δꙋ́μασι˸ μολїτβα˸	and she said a prayer:
90:	να τέμπε πρηπάδαμ βλαδήτζιτζε	ʺI bow to you, o Ladyʺ
	ϛꙋ-τꙋ σή ποροδήλα να σήτζκηια σφέτ χριςτά μπόγα	ʺyou, who has given birth to Christ the God for the whole worldʺ
91:	άς σήτζκοε μόε ζιβότ να τέμπε γꙋ πρїδάδꙋχ ï-	ʺI dedicated my whole life for youʺ
	βλαδήτζιτζε μόε πρεσφετάε μπογορόδιτζε	ʺo my Lady, most-holy Mother of Godʺ
92:	η να- τέμπε ση ναδιάβαμ δα μὰ πομήλβασ	ʺand in yourself I hope that you have mercy upon meʺ
93:	η νι δέ-η σα γνꙋσή ꙋτ μένε δέτꙋ σαμ τβόε ραμπήνε.	ʺdon't turn away in disgust from me, your servantʺ
94:	ζα- η άς ꙋτ μλαδꙋς τά ση μόια ποδίρ τβόεγο σήνα τράγναχ.	ʺbecause I followed your son since my youthʺ
95:	η μόλα τι σα πρεσφετάε μπογορόδι-τζε	ʺand I pray to you, most-holy Mother of Godʺ
96:	τή ζνάσ μόε τα ζένσκα ράμπꙋτα η μόε τα σλάμπꙋς	ʺyou know my womanly nature and my weaknessʺ
	ϛꙋτꙋ έ να μόε τα δꙋσιά ωζνώμπα.	ʺwhich worries my soulʺ (ʺwhich is my soul's worryʺ)
97:	αμὴ τὴ πρεσφετάε μπογορόδιτζε μπαδή μη πομόϛνιτζα.	ʺbut you, o St Mother of God, be my helperʺ
98:	ζαϛὸ ꙋσήμ να τέμπε να δρꙋ́-γο μέςτο νέ μαμ ναδέζδα δα σά ναδιάβαμ.	ʺbecause I have no hope at another place than by yourselfʺ
99:	αμὴ τή μη μπαδή νακλꙋνιάβανїε	ʺbut you be my teacher (?)ʺ
	δα μά νακλꙋνίς να δομπρό η να ποκαιάνїε.	ʺso that you leads me to the goodness and remorseʺ
100:	η τή δα μά ꙋπάζις ꙋτ σιάκακβο ζλώ.	ʺ(so that) you shall protect me from all evilʺ
101:	ώτι κꙋ́γιτꙋ μπὲχ φ πꙋϛινέ τꙋ, τέμπε ήμαχ ζα πομόϛνї-τζα.	ʺbecause I had yourself as my helper as I was in (the) desertʺ
102:	η σηγά πάκ κατꙋ σά βάρναχ φ μήρ,	ʺand now, as I have returned into (the) world againʺ
	έ-τꙋ πάκ τέμπε ση ήμαμ ναδέζμπα,	ʺsee, I have my hopes in you againʺ
103:	η σηγά τή δα μά ꙋπάζβασ,	ʺand now, protect me againʺ
104:	η πομόϛνιτζα δα μὴ μ-πάδις,	ʺand be my helperʺ
105:	η δα μά ποκρήβασ ꙋτ σιάκακβꙋ ζλώ.	ʺand cover me from all evilʺ
106:	η τꙋ́η σα πꙋμόλι τάμο να βλαχέρναε	and thus she prayed there in Blachernae
	τζέρκο-βα να πρεσφετάε μπογορόδιτζα	(in the) church of the most-holy Mother of God
107:	η πλάκα τα-μο ꙋ τοέ σαρτζέ	and wept there, at that heart
108:	η ηζλέζη ꙋτ τζέρκοβα τα	and she went out of the church
109:	ατζὴ τράγνα τꙋγίς δα ήδη δꙋ επιβάθη να νέηνꙋ τꙋ μ-πάϛνινο.	and really she went (ʺto moveʺ) to Epibates, her fatherland
110:	η σηδιά τάμο μλόγο βρέμη	and she sat there for a long time
111:	η νήκꙋη ιά νι πꙋζνάβασι.	and nobody recognized her
112:	η τάμο πο τζεςτꙋ η μετάνι	and there (she did much) kneeling
	η ϛꙋ-ένι σήτζκα τα νόϛ να μόλμπα	and staying awake for the whole night, praying
	κόη μόζι ηςκά-ζα.	who could tell (how much?)
113:	η σὰ πομήνα νιάκꙋη βρέμη	and some time passed
114:	η ποζνά βέ-τζι τζὶ σε σά πρεςτάβι ꙋτ τόηζη σφιάτ.	and she understood that she was going to die soon (ʺpresent herself from this worldʺ)
115:	η- τιά πꙋδμπρά δα σή ϛρꙋ́βα μόλμπα τα σὰς σὰλζη	and she started to pray with tears
116:	η δꙋ́μασι. μολїτβα˸	and spoke (this) prayer:
117:	τζελοβέκου-μπητζλї́φτζε βλαδίκο	ʺo Lord, Lover of humansʺ
	δα νι ꙋςτάβις μένε, ϛꙋ σάμ ρομπήνια τβόέ.	ʺdo not leave me, (who am) your servantʺ
	δέτꙋ σαμ σήτζκο τꙋ ꙋςτάβιλα ζαραδὶ τβόη τꙋ ήμη	ʺwho has left everything for your nameʺ
118:	η καμτꙋ́ τέ-μπε πρημπιάγναχ.	ʺand to yourself I ranʺ
119:	αμὴ ζαραδὶ τꙋ́η η τή ση-γή γοςποδι μπόζε μόη ποβελή να άνγελα τβο-εγό	ʺbut, my Lord God, give a command to an angelʺ
	μήρνο δα πρηέμη δꙋσιά τα μη	ʺto calmly receive my soulʺ
120:	η δα μὴ νι- μπάδι ζαμπράνενꙋ δα φλιάζα φ τζάρϛꙋ τꙋ τβόη ꙋτ νε τζεςτήβη τη η μράςνι διάβολη.	ʺand that I wouldn't be barred from entering your kingdom by sinful and filthy devilsʺ
121:	αμη μά σποδομπή μπὲζ ϛράχ δα ςτάνα πρὲτ- τβόε ϛράσνηια πρεςτόλ	ʺbut make me worthy to stand without fear before your awesome throneʺ
122:	ώτι ση μπλαγοσλοβέν γόςποδι δό βεκα	ʺbecause you are blessed, o Lord, in eternityʺ
123:	αμήν.	ʺamenʺ
124:	η τάη κατꙋ σά πꙋμό-λη η τόηζη τζιάς ση πρηδάδι δꙋσιά τα να μπόγα.	and in that moment, as she thus prayer, she gave her soul to God
125:	η σα σαμπράχα τꙋγίς νιάκꙋη χριςτένι	and then some Christians gathered
126:	τὰ η- πογρέμπαχα τελώ τꙋ νέηνꙋ.	and they buried her body
127:	η νηέ ποζνά νηκꙋη δꙋ νέγꙋ τζιάς	and no one knew her until that (?) moment
	ꙋτ δέ η δꙋσλά.	(nor) whence she came
128:	η έτꙋ τά-η ση ηςπροβόδι δηνή τη σφόη τάηζη σφετά-ε πρεποδόμπναε πέτκα τꙋ́κα να ζημιά- τα.	and thus this St Reverend Petka passed her days here on the Earth
