2: дá покáже́мо слово за богáтаго їѡ̂ва may we show you a homily about the wealthy Job
какво бг҃ъ йспитꙋвá человекá [...] (about) how God tests man
3: Злйннꙗ́ й нáпáстъ що ходѝ по чл҃ве́цй ѿ трй работй бйвà Evil and scourge that plague the people come from three things
4: е́дно ѿ йспйтѝю бж҃ию One: from God's trial
когѝ йспѝтꙋвá бг҃ъ чл҃векъ дáлй любѝ бг҃а when God tests man's love for Him
когй мꙋ дои́де ѿ негде некоѧ́ бедá when calamity comes upon him from somewhere
5: второ бйвá когй се ѿлꙋчѝ бг҃ъ ѿ чл҃векá за некоѧ̂ согре́ше́нїе́ The second one is when God separates Himself from man because of a sin
6: а трето бивá наѝ ѕло And the third one is the worst -
7: когѝ сас весе ѡ̂ставѝ бг҃ъ чл҃века when God abandons man entirely
8: ѿ йскꙋше́нне бж҃їе бйвá й ѕло й бедà й напастъ From God's temptation comes evil and calamity and scourge
каквото поте́глѝ й праведнѝ їѡ̂въ which the righteous Job suffered himself
9: че беше чл҃векъ прáведенъ и добръ ӥ мл͒тивъ for he was a righteous and good and merciful man
предъ бг҃а и предъ чл҃веци in front of God and others
10: иѡ̂въ ймáше седáмъ сӥнове й дъщер͛кѝ трй: Job had seven sons and three daughters
11: й ѡ̂вци имаше трѝ хи́лѧдй седáмъ хйлѧдѝ he had seven thousand sheep
12: кáмилю имáше трй хйлѧ́дй he had three thousand camels
13: волове имаше две хїлꙗ́дѝ he had two thousand oxen
14: и кравѝ петъ стотѝнъ and five hundred cows
15: и коне хе-р͛гели́ѧ седáмъ сто́тинъ and a herd of seven hundred horses
16: и рáтáе имáше млого he had many farmhands too
17: и рáботá и слꙋгꙋвáне безъкрáино млого and work without end
18: а коли́ко сребро и злато имаше иово не изъброено and how much uncounted silver and gold Job had...
19: но въ малко дни све се довръ(ш)ѝ but in few days everything ended
20: и нищо мꙋ не ѡ̂станꙋ and he was left with nothing
21: после и деца та мꙋ измрехꙋ then his children died too
22: токо ѡ̂нъ ѡ̂стáнꙋ и женá та мꙋ only him and his wife were left
23: таково времѧ̀ дочека he suffered such times
24: и снáгá та ѿжи́ви́ниче that his body got covered with scrofula
25: и лежеше кáто ни́кои на бꙋни́ще исъфръленъ and he lied there like nobody, thrown away at a dumping ground
26: и чирепъ не маше да си ѡстрꙋже снáга та he did not either have a splitter to scrape his body
27: и хлебъ не мáше да еде или кръчáгъ водꙋ дá пи́е nor did he have bread to eat or a jug to drink water
28: á жена негова станꙋла сиротица Meanwhile his wife became a pauper
29: и ѡ́деше ѿ и́жꙋ до хиꙋ та просе хлебъ та мꙋ приносеше and she went from hut to hut to beg for bread and bring it to him
30: и метнꙋвáше мо ѿ дáлекъ and she threw it to him from afar
31: и дꙋмáше мꙋ and she talked to him:
32: докоги да лежи́шъ ти тꙋка ѿбидни́че тол͛кова похꙋленъ Until when are you going to lie here, you wretch, ever so slandered?
33: защо не речешъ некоѧ хꙋлна дꙋма на бога Why don't you say a slanderous word to God?
34: дано бѝ ꙋмръ дá почи́нишъ да не тегли́шъ. толковá зло So that (you) die doing (at least) something to not suffer so much evil
и моѧ дꙋша дá ѿдахне ѿ толко́ва смратъ що излази́ ѿ снага та твоѧ and so that my soul takes a rest from the whole stench that comes out of your body.
35: Тогива се ѿбрънꙋ иѿво Then Job turned around
36: тá и́ рече and said to her:
37: нали́ си женá безꙋмна Are you a reckless woman?
38: какво да похꙋли́мъ на бо́га коги ни бе́ше дáлъ бг҃ъ толко до;бро Why should I blaspheme God, when he gave us so much good?
39: нали́ знáешъ кáкво сѐ радавахмо ѡ безꙋмнице You know how happy we were, oh you reckless one
40: а съга какво да не претръпимо това зло Why should we now not bear through this evil?
41: и така прово́ди иѡво свои, дни ꙋ болестъ And so Job spent his days in illness
42: защо беше праведе́нъ чл҃векъ бж҃и for he was a righteous man of God
43: беше праведенъ и цр҃ко́вникъ и посни́къ и бг҃ꙋ ꙋгоденъ he was a man of the church, he was a faster and pious
44: та мо завиде, диѧволъ so the Devil got envious of him
45: тá се ѡбзаложи сасъ дрꙋгаго диꙗволá and laid a bet with another devil
46: та мꙋ изъмори сва та стока ще имаше богáти́ ıѡво and killed all the stock that the wealthy Job had
47: после мꙋ измори синове те и дъщери́ те then he killed his sons and daughters
48: и ѡбрахá мꙋ сребро то и злато то and they robbed him of his silver and gold
49: наи после диѧволъ и него по;храка finally, the Devil spat on him too
50: та станꙋ све рани́ снагá та мꙋ and his body became full of wounds
51: и оживини́че and it caught scrofula
52: та тече́ше гнои so pus was running
53: и беше фанꙋлъ чръвѧ оу снага та and his body got infected with worms
54: и не можеше д;а се преѡбръне на дрꙋга та страна ѿ боле;сти and he could not turn on the other side because of sickness
55: та па никакво́ никакво не похꙋли; на бг҃а but he did not defame God
56: чꙋете ли хр͒тӥанӥ колӥко любовъ имаше богатӥ иѡво за бога Do you, christians, hear how much love for God the wealthy Job had?
57: испросилъ беше диаволъ ѿ бг҃а да ѡскр͛би иѡва да The Devil had asked God to offend Job
го; испита далӥ ще любїи иѡва бг҃а на скръбно време in order to test him if he will love God in times of sorrow
58: а бг҃ъ знаеше че не ще ӥѡво да похꙋли на бг҃а but God knew Job will not defame God
59: такмо си щеꙗ бг҃ъ да го ѡ;стави да потегли зло за ꙋверение yet God wanted him to suffer evil for the sake of belief
да верꙋвамо и ниꙗ на тиѧ злочестӥ днӥ наши so that we, too, have faith in these bad days
60: ӥ доӥде време и денъ да си слꙋжи иѡво ст҃ого ѡц҃а николае and the time and day came for Job to make a service to the holy father (St.) Nicholas
61: нити имамъ пари да си кꙋпи̂мъ восокъ he did not have money to buy himself wax
62: нити и́мамъ да си кꙋпимъ ѳемѧнь nor did he have (money) to buy himself incense
нити дрꙋго що nor anything else
63: токо бръкнꙋ оу пазова he just put his hand in his neckline
64: та извади ѿ снáга тá си три́ чръвѧ. and he took three worms out of his body
65: и́ рече на женá та си́ and he said to his wife:
66: нá ти тиѧ чръвове Here, (take) these three worms,
67: дá ѿ ѿи́дешъ на пазаръ go to the market
68: да ги́ дáдешъ give them
69: зá единъ чръвъ• да взмешъ жито take grain for one worm
70: а зá дрꙋги́ восокъ and for another one wax
71: á за третиѧ да земашъ ѳамианъ and for the third one take incense
72: а ѿбид;ница жена рече and the wretch of a woman said:
73: чл҃вече бж҃їи кои́ хоче тебе да ꙋзме чръвѧ Oh you, man of God, who would want to take worms from you
да ти даде жито и восокъ и ѳимиѧнъ to give you grain and wax and incense?
74: а иѡво рече́ And Job said:
75: ти иди сасъ име бж҃еи You go with God's name
76: и помоли́ се ст҃омꙋ ни́колае and pray to Saint Nicholas
77: взе щешъ потреба. you will get what you need
78: и ѡна ꙋзе тиѧ три́ чръвове And she took these three worms
79: и вáръза ги́ ꙋ кръпꙋ and she tied them in a cloth
80: и зáнесе ги на пазаръ and she took them to the market
81: и рече and she said
82: дꙋкѧнџи за и́ме бж҃е; на ти̂ на ти́ тиѧ три́ чръвове O merchant, in the name of God, here, (take) these three worms
83: тá; ми́ даи́ мáкáръ три́ зрънá жи́то и́ мáло восокъ и́ ѳимѧнъ and give me even if only three grains of wheat and a little wax and incense
дá си́ ѿ;слꙋжи́мо ст҃аго оц҃а ни́колаю и́; so that we serve the holy father Nicholas
нáı дꙋкѧнъџиѧ ꙋзе кръпа та сасъ; чръвове те And that merchant took the cloth with the worms
85: и тꙋри́ ю на лáви́цꙋ and he put it on the shelf
86: и́ дáде на жанá та жи́то и́ восокъ и́ ѳи́мианъ and gave the woman wheat and wax and incense
87: и́; ѿти́де́ си́ женá та and the woman left
88: а дꙋкѧнџиа рáзъръза кръпá тá дá ви́ди́ кáкви́ сꙋ ти́ѧ; чръвове́ and the merchant untied the cloth to see what these worms were
89: коги́ погле́да ꙋ кръпа тá три жлъти́ци when he looked, in the cloth (were) three gold coins
90: а ѿнъ скоро тръчá по не́ѧ дá ю ги́ дáде and he soon ran after her to give them back to her
91: и не́ може́ дá ю наи́де́ and he could not find her
92: ви-ди́те ли хр͒тиане чꙋдесá Do you, christians, see the miracles?
93: после́ и́ѡвина женá свари́ ѡнова жи́то Then Job's wife cooked the wheat
94: и ѿслꙋжи́хꙋ сá ст҃ого ни́колáе́ and they served Saint Nicholas
95: и ѡстá имъ еднá крївáчкá вáрено жи́то and they were left with a handful of cooked wheat
96: иово ре;че Job said
97: сꙋпрꙋжници́ моѧ ꙋзми́ това жи́то O my wife, take this wheat
98: и връжи го ꙋ кръпꙋ and tie it in a cloth
99: и добре го скри да ни̂ бꙋде готово за годи́на and hide it well so that it is ready for us in a year
100: че не ма и тоги́ва за що да си кꙋпимо because then there will be nothing to buy for, too
101: и ѡна скри́ жито то And she hid the wheat
102: коги́ би́ до годи́нꙋ дои́де́ де́нъ пáкъ дá си́ слꙋжетъ ст҃áго ни́колáе When a year passed, the day for the service to St. Nicholas came again.
103: ꙋзе женá тá иѡвина кръпá тá The wife of Job took the cloth
да види дá не бꙋде изъгни́ло to see if the wheat had rotted
104: жи́то то сотвори́ бг҃ъ на мáръгáри́;тъ (and when she looked), God had turned the wheat into pearls
105: и занесе жена та три́ зрънá на пазаръ паги на тоговаá дꙋкѧџиѧ and the woman took the three grains to the market, again to this merchant
да си ꙋзме́ потре́би́ю зá слꙋжбꙋ to get what she needed for the service
106: о́нъ ви́де зрънá тá; че е маръгаритъ he saw that the grains were pearls
107: ꙋзе ги́, he took them
108: и даде и жи́то и; восокъ и ѳимѧнъ and he gave her wheat and wax and incense
109: и ще́ много гроше́ве и́; даде he gave her many more coins too
110: видите ли брáте кáкво бг҃ъ и́спи́;тꙋва чл҃века Do you, brothers, see how God tests man
и твори́ знáмени́ѧ и́ чꙋдесá and creates omens and miracles?
111: после и́ѡво ѡзраве Then Job recovered
112: и доби повече стокá and he got more stock
113: и доби́ повече сребро и злáто and he got more silver and gold
114: и добѝ дрꙋги си́нове и дъще́ри̂ and he got other sons and daughters
115: разꙋмех͛ти ли хр͒тиѧне Did you understand, Christians?
116: товâ бг҃ь ꙗви́ да ви́димо ни́е и да верꙋвáмо гд͒а нáшего їис҃а, хр͒тá и дáржи́имо ст҃и празници God showed this for us to see and believe our God Jesus Christ and to hold the holy holidays
117: достá сꙋ нáмъ ꙋ не́дела та шесъ дни́ дá рáботи́мо To work six days a week is pretty much for us
118: седми́ денъ ст҃ꙋю неделю дá прáзнꙋвамо let us celebrate the seventh day, the holy Sunday
119: тá дá ни́ бг҃ъ поми́лꙋва и́; дá ни помогне́ во слáвꙋ бж҃и́ю so that God reprieves us and helps us in into God's glory
