42: a lukavii diavolъ ne prěstanuvaše da ju plaši but the evil Devil didn't cease to frighten her
43: i mnogo pъti se prětvaraše kato źvěrъ strašnъ and many times (he) changed himself to a terrible beast
davno bi ju uplašilъ da ostavi pustinja to frighten her (and thus force her) to leave the desert
44: ami staa petka imaše ba pomoštnika but St Petka had God (as a) helper
45: i ne prěstanuvaxa i slъzi ot oči te and the tears didn't stop (to flow) from her eyes
46: i sička xitros diavolъska isčeznuvaše ot neina ta molba and all the devilish cunning was vain because of (ʺdisappeared fromʺ) her prayer

i naprasno vidě bžstvno viděnie and suddenly she saw a divine apparition
57: edinъ agglъ i se javi kato edinъ mladъ momkъ an angel appeared to her as a young boy
58: i světi kato svěšt and (he) shined as a candle
59: i rče ei and he said to her:
60: da ostavišъ pustinja ta ʺ(you should) leave the desertʺ
61: i idi si pakъ nazadъ na tvoe otčъstvo ʺand go back to your homelandʺ
62: zašto tamo ti podbae da si ostavišъ tělo to ʺbecause it is good for you to leave your body thereʺ
63: a dša ta ti šte da bade na kraski i ne věštestъvnii rai ʺand your soul shall be in the beautiful and immaterial Paradiseʺ
64: kato vidě staa petka tova viděnie i čju tia dumi as St Petka saw this apparition and heard those words
razumě če ie ot ba tova viděnie she understood, that this apparition was from God

68: kak si ostavi pustinja ta ʺhow can I leave the desert?ʺ
69: zašto ne može ništo drugo da očisti člku dša ta kato pustinja because nothing else can purify the human soul as a desert
70: i togazi staa petka kato čju onzi glas and then, as St Petka heard that voice
i da i se ne štěše even though she didn't want

73: i mlba neprěstano činěše and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually

75: i sičъki dni i nošti na bděnie běše and she was awake for all the days and nights
76: i plačěše i tъguvaše za pustinja ta and she wept and craved for the desert
77: i obide sički crkvi kato edna pčela rabotnaa and she visited all the churches as a diligent bee

78: i poide u crkva prěčstěi bci čto se zove vlaxerna and (then) she went to (the) church of most-holy Mother of God which is called Blachernae
79: i tamo pripade na ikona prčstěi bci and there she came (ʺfellʺ?) to the icon of most-holy Mother of God
80: i slъzi ot oči te si mnogo izliă and she poured a lot of tears from her eyes
81: i dumaše i moljaše se bci and she said and prayed to the Mother of God:
82: tebe vldčce što si na sički světъ ʺUpon yourself, o Lady (ʺwhich isʺ) of the whole worldʺ
i porodila esi ga ba ʺand who gave birth to Lord Godʺ
azъ moi životъ u tebě ostavixъ ʺto yourself I dedicated (ʺleftʺ) my lifeʺ
83: i na tebě se naděja da me pomiluvašъ ʺand in yourself I hope that you have mercy upon meʺ
84: i ne děi se gnusi ot mene što sam tvoa robinja ʺdon't turn away in disgust from me, your servantʺ
85: zašto i azъ ot mladostъ tvoemu snu poslěduvax ʺbecause I followed your son and prayed since my youthʺ

87: i ti znaešъ dvce moe to žensko esstvo i moa slabostъ ʺand you know, o Virgin, my womanly nature and my weaknessʺ

92: zašto koga běx vъ pustinja tebe imax pomoštnica ʺbecause I had yourself as my helper as I was in (the) desertʺ
93: a sega se vrъnax vъ mirъ ʺbut now I have returned into (the) worldʺ
94: ami pakъ i sega me učjuvai i upazi ʺbut now, hear and protect me againʺ
95: i pomoštnica mi budi ʺand be my helperʺ
96: i pokrii me ot sičko zlo ʺand cover me from all evilʺ
97: i tova se pomoli and thus she prayed
98: i plaka ot sičko srdce and wept from all heart

100: i trъgna da ide na svoe to si otčъstvo and went (ʺto goʺ) to her (ʺownʺ) homeland
101: i doide do epivati čto běše neino otčъstvo and came to Epibates, which was her homeland

123: Ami i tuka gъ bъ ne ostavi ę da e za mnogo dni sъkriena na zemlja but even here, Lord God wouldn't leave her hidden in the Earth for long
i da e bez pametъ neino to čistoe i světъloe tělo to leave her pure and holy body to remain without rememberance
124: ami pokaza čjudo divno zaradi neini te mošti stii but he showed a miracle on her holy relics

130: i poče da isxodi smradъ ot nego zlъ and a terrible stench started to come out from him

139: i mirizma xubava kolkoto navivaše tazi mirizma na toizi smradъ and how (her) beautiful scent covered the odor of that stench!
140: i onia člci běxa glupavi i ne razumni and those people were dumb and irrational
141: i ne mogoxa da se usětetъ za onova stoe tělo and they couldn't understand that (it was a) holy body
142: zašto nikoi ne znaeše če ie tamo pogrebena sta petka because nobody knew that St Petka was buried there
143: oti běše o davna pogrebena because she was buried since long
144: ami se mnogo čjudixa kakъ da storet and they wondered a lot what should they do
145: i rekoxa si meždu sebě and they said to each other:
146: koi pakъ da kopae na drugo město ʺwho would dig elsewhereʺ
147: ami e tuka toizi grobъ dosta širokъ i dlъbokъ ʺthis grave here is wide and deep enoughʺ
148: da turime i onazi mrъša da ne smrъdi ʺlet's throw that corpse (here) as well, so that it doesn't stinkʺ
149: a to ako bude tova sto tělo bъ šte go izvadi ʺand if it would be a holy body, God will take it outʺ
150: i zarinaxa onazi mrъša tamo pri stoe onova tělo and they buried that corpse there next to that holy body
151: i razidoxa se po doma si: - and they all went home
152: i ot těxъ někoi člkъ georgie ime to mu xrstianinъ dobrъ one of them (was) a certain Georgi, a good Christian

156: i sědi na stolъ zlatъ světlikavъ and she sat on a shiny golden throne

161: ot xubostъ ne možeše da gleda toja světъ he couldn't watch that light for its beauty
162: i edinъ ot onia xubavi i světlikavi momci pristapi and one of those beautiful shiny young men stepped to him
163: i uze go za ruka and he seized his arm

165: stani georgie ʺstand up, Georgi!ʺ
166: i oti ste taka storile ʺand as you did soʺ
167: ta ste ostavile onova tělo vonešto pri tělo to stěi petki ʺas you left that stinking body next to the body of St Petkaʺ
168: ami skoro da poidešъ ʺyou shall go quicklyʺ
169: da izvadišъ mošti te stěi petki ʺand you shall retrieve the relics of St Petkaʺ
170: i da gi ostavišъ ou kovčegъ zlati ʺand you shall put them to a golden coffinʺ
171: zašto crъ požali neina dobrina ʺfor the King craves for her virtueʺ
172: i šte gъ sega da ju proslavi po sički světъ ʺand now Lord will spread her fame in the whole worldʺ

175: i položěte na xubavo město ʺand put (them) on a nice placeʺ
176: zašto ne mogu da trъpim azъ za mnogo toizi smradъ ʺbecause I can't suffer that stench anymoreʺ
177: ne boiš li se ot ba da ne bi pustilъ bъ ognъ da vi popali ʺdon't you fear God that he'd cast fire to burn you?ʺ
178: i azъ samъ člkъ ot maika i ot bašta rodena ʺand I am a human (too), born from a mother and a fatherʺ
179: i moe otčъstvo epivati štoto go zovete i deto ste vie sega na nego ʺand my fatherland (is) Epibates, as you call it and where do you live nowʺ
180: i prězъ tazi noštъ i druga žena dobra xrstianka ime to ei Efimia i tia takvozi viděla and in that night another woman, a good Christian, her name was Efimia, saw such (a vision)

183: skoro utrě rano da kažešъ tova da vi ot ba ognъ ne izgori ʺyou shall tell that early in the morning, so that you won't be burned down by the fire of Godʺ
