42: a lukávïi dïávolь ne prěstánuvaše da jù pláši. but the evil Devil didn't cease to frighten her
43: i mnógo pъ´ti se prětváraše katô źvě´rь strášnь, and many times (he) changed himself to a terrible beast
dávno bï ju uplášilь. da wstávi pústinja. to frighten her (and thus force her) to leave the desert
44: ami staa pétka imáše ba pomoštníka. but St Petka had God (as a) helper
45: i ne prěstanuvaxá i slь´zi wt oči te. and the tears didn't stop (to flow) from her eyes
46: i síč'ka xitros dïávolьska isčeznúvaše wt neína ta mól'ba. and all the devilish cunning was vain because of (ʺdisappeared fromʺ) her prayer

62: zaštô támo ti podbáe da sî ostávišь tě´lo to ʺbecause it is good for you to leave your body thereʺ
63: a dša ta tí šte da báde na krásky i ne věštestьvnïi rái. ʺand your soul shall be in the beautiful and immaterial Paradiseʺ
64: Katô vídě staa pétka tovâ vidě´nïe. i čjuʺ tïà dúmi as St Petka saw this apparition and heard those words
razúmě čé ïe wt ba tovâ vidě´nie. she understood, that this apparition was from God

70: I togázi staa pétka. káto čjuʺ wn'zi glas. and then, as St Petka heard that voice
i da í sé ne ště´še. even though she didn't want
a tïjaʺ wstávi wnázi pustïnja. she left that desert
71: I poíde prьvě´nь na crigrádь, and first she went to Tsarigrad
72: i ulě´ze u crkva xva. and entered the church of Christ
73: i mlba neprěstáno číněše and she prayed (ʺdid prayerʺ) perpetually
74: kákь da iskáže člkь tol'kozi metanïe i póklony. i slь´zy how could one describe so many kneelings and meditation and tears
75: i síčьki dni i nóšti na bdě´nïe bě´še. and she was awake for all the days and nights
76: i plačě´še i tьgúvaše za pústinja ta. and she wept and craved for the desert
77: i wbíde sički crkvi. katô édna pčéla rabótnaa and she visited all the churches as a diligent bee

78: i poíde u crkva prěčstěi bci. čtô se zóve vlaxérna. and (then) she went to (the) church of most-holy Mother of God which is called Blachernae
79: i támo pripáde na ikóna prčstěi bci and there she came (ʺfellʺ?) to the icon of most-holy Mother of God
80: i slь´zi wt oči te si mnógo izlïă. and she poured a lot of tears from her eyes
81: i dumáše i moljáše se bci. and she said and prayed to the Mother of God:
82: Tébe vldčce štó si na síčki svě´tь. ʺUpon yourself, o Lady (ʺwhich isʺ) of the whole worldʺ
i porodílá esi ga ba. ʺand who gave birth to Lord Godʺ
azь mói živótь u tébě wstávïxь. ʺto yourself I dedicated (ʺleftʺ) my lifeʺ
83: i na tebě´ se naděja dá me pomíluvašь. ʺand in yourself I hope that you have mercy upon meʺ

139: i mirízma xubáva kol'koto navívaše tázi mirízma na toízi smrádь. and how (her) beautiful scent covered the odor of that stench!
140: i onïa člci bě´xa glúpavy i ne razúmny and those people were dumb and irrational
141: i ne mogóxa da sè usě´tetь za onova stoe tě´lo. and they couldn't understand that (it was a) holy body
142: zaštô nikói ne znaéše če ïe támo pogrébena sta pétka because nobody knew that St Petka was buried there
143: oti bě´še w dávna pogrébena. because she was buried since long
144: amí se mnógo čjúdixa, kákь da storet and they wondered a lot what should they do
145: i rékoxa si méždu sebě`. and they said to each other:
146: kói pákь da kopáe na drúgo mě´sto. ʺwho would dig elsewhereʺ
147: amï e túka toízi gróbь dósta širókь, i dlьbókь ʺthis grave here is wide and deep enoughʺ
148: da turíme i onázi mrь´ša da nè smrь´di. ʺlet's throw that corpse (here) as well, so that it doesn't stinkʺ
149: a to ako búde tóva sto tě´lo. bь šté go izvádi ʺand if it would be a holy body, God will take it outʺ
150: i zarínaxa onázi mrь´ša támo pri stoe onovà tě´lo. and they buried that corpse there next to that holy body

169: da izvádišь móšti te stěi pet'ky. ʺand you shall retrieve the relics of St Petkaʺ
170: i dá gy ostávišь ou kov'čégь zlatì. ʺand you shall put them to a golden coffinʺ
171: zaštò crь požáli neína dobrína ʺfor the King craves for her virtueʺ
172: i šte gь séga da jù proslávi. po síčky svě´tь. ʺand now Lord will spread her fame in the whole worldʺ
173: Togázi i tïá mu sáma podúma then she spoke to him herself:
174: skóro izvadě´te moí te móšti. ʺretrieve my relics quicklyʺ
175: i položě´te na xúbavo mě´sto. ʺand put (them) on a nice placeʺ
176: zaštô ne mógu da trьpím azь za mnógo toízi smrádь. ʺbecause I can't suffer that stench anymoreʺ
177: ne boíš li se wt ba da nè biʺ pústilь bь ógnь da vì popáli. ʺdon't you fear God that he'd cast fire to burn you?ʺ
178: i azь sámь člkь wt maíka i wt bášta rodéna. ʺand I am a human (too), born from a mother and a fatherʺ
179: i móe wtčьstvo epiváti štotó go zovéte i detó ste vïe séga na négo. ʺand my fatherland (is) Epibates, as you call it and where do you live nowʺ
180: I prězь tázi nóštь i drúga ženâ dobrâ xrstïanka imé to éi Efimïa i tïa takvózi vidě´la. and in that night another woman, a good Christian, her name was Efimia, saw such (a vision)
