| 8: | ꙋплени́ха френци цари́гратъ | The Franks looted Tsarigrad |
| 9: | и́ ꙋбраха си́чко стрáбро и́ злато пꙋ черкви́ те и́ пꙋ манасти́рѧ | And they took all the silver and gold in churches and monasteries |
| 10: | и́ и́зроби́ха грацки́ ротъ | And they subdued the Greek people |
| 11: | катꙋ дꙋчѧкаха црѥграждени́ те си́е речъ станболи́ те и́ дни́ плачаха | As the Tsarigradians, that is, Istanbulis, thus suffered, they wept for days |

| 13: | та са моли́ха бгꙋ | And they prayed to God: |
| 14: | гсди гсди́ кадѧ забрави́ наше сармꙋши́е | ʺO Lord, why (ʺwhereʺ) did you forget our misery?ʺ |
| 15: | и́збави́ ни́ гсди́ отъ проклети́ френци́ | ʺO Lord, free us from the accursed Franksʺ |
| 16: | и́ тогази́ пои́ска бгъ да прослави́ ротъ хрстенцки́ бꙋгацки́ гласъ | And the God wanted to make the Christian nation of Bulgaria famous |
| 17: | и́ ва тꙋва време беше блгочести́ и́ хрстолюбиви́ и́ самꙋдаржевни́ бꙋлгарцки́ ѡцъ иѡ̈анъ асенъ снъ стари́мꙋ бꙋлгарцки́мꙋ | And in that time there was the honorable, and Christ-loving, and alone-ruling Bulgarian father John Asen, son of old Bulgarian (king Asen) |

| 19: | и́ еднак мꙋ при́легна сти́мъ повелени́емъ да плени́ ни́ вернá | And it came to him by the holy command to capture the unbelievers |
| и́ да зема зи́мѧ млого | He took them a lot of land | |
| 20: | и́ скочи́ юнашки́ сасъ бже и́ме повелени́емъ сасъ си́лна вои́ска сръпоцка и́ бꙋлгарцка | And he jumped heroically, with God's (ʺname'sʺ ?) command (and) with a strong Serbian and Bulgarian army |
| 21: | и́ при́е македоска земѧ | And he took the land of Macedonia |
| 22: | и́ така при́е ѳетали́ска зи́мѧ | And thus he conquered Thessaly |
| 23: | така при́е и́ тракиѧ | Thus he conquered Thrace too |
| 24: | така при́е и́ три́ваи́ѧ | Thus he also conquered Tribalia |
| 25: | така при́е и́ серѧсъ и́ сами́ гратъ сердечъ си́ѧ речъ и́ софи́ѧ | Thus he also conquered Serres and thecity of Serdica itself, that is Sofia |
| 26: | дои́де и́ до и́ драчъ драчѧнцкаѧ | |
| 27: | пакъ при́е и́ далмаци́ѧ що е арнавꙋцки́ѧ дражавъ | Then he also took Dalmatia, which is an Albanian country |
| 28: | напꙋкꙋнъ при́е натокси́ѧ гѡ̈ра си́ѧ речъ ста гора | Finally he took the Mount Athos, that is, the Holy Mountain |
| и́ на окꙋлꙋ градꙋве славни́ сꙋлꙋнъ и́ и́ни́шаръ | and the cities around, the famous Salonica and Niš (?) | |
| 29: | и́ кадѧ поми́на саси́па капи́ща та | And wherever he went, he destroyed pagan temples. |

| 33: | що са чи́те на ста гора ꙋ славнаѧ лавра | Thus it can be read on the Holy Mountain, in the famous Lavra |
| 34: | и́ напꙋкꙋнъ ни́ са ꙋбꙋѧ ѿ ꙋни́ѧ френци́ | And, finally, he was not scared from those Franks |
| 35: | ами́ са заварна | But he came back |
| 36: | та и́де пꙋ бѧло море | And he went through the White (Aegean) Sea |
| 37: | та прие и́ бже и́ме повели́ немꙋ и́ цри́гратъ | And he took, as the God's name told him, Tsarigrad too |
| 38: | и сокриши́ потани́и́ френци́ | And he subdued the Franks, (placing them) under tax |
| 39: | и́ напꙋкꙋнъ мꙋ са пꙋклони́ха ѡ̈ни́ѧ френци́ да мꙋ даватъ данъ и́ да мꙋ бадатъ раѧ | And finally those Franks bowed to him, to give taxes and to be his subjects |
| 40: | и́ тогази́ стана напꙋкꙋнъ блгочестиви́ хрстосъ любиви́и́ цръ иоанъ | And then the honorable, Christ-loving king John finally stood up |
| 41: | та си́ пꙋи́де назатъ на свои́ и́ славни́и бꙋлгарцки́ црегратъ тарнꙋфъ | And he went back to his glorious Bulgarian royal city of Tarnov |
| що се нарица трепезонъ бꙋлгарцки́ си́е речъ таитъ бꙋлгарцки́ | Which is called ʺTrabzon of Bulgaria, that is, ʺTait (?) of Bulgariaʺ. | |
| 42: | и́ напꙋкꙋнъ ми́на са време що са мина | And finally, a time which passed, passed (?) |
| 43: | разбра цръ иѡанъ | The king John understood |
| 44: | асъ сасъ моѧ старꙋсъ рѧкꙋрат мꙋ разбрахъ за стаѧ при́подобнаѧ петка епеваи́скаѧ | ʺI with my age found out about Holy Reverend Petka of Epibatesʺ |
| катꙋ чи́нѧ толкꙋва чюди́са | ʺthat she does many miraclesʺ | |

| 46: | и́ запали́ мꙋ са сарце то като леенъ за вода | And his heart was engulfed in flames as (of) a deer (desiring) for water |
| 47: | и́ тогази́ зе цръ и́оанъ та пꙋснъ и́ди́нъ ферманъ дꙋ станбꙋлъ дꙋ френци́ те | And then the king John decided (?) to send a command to Stanbul to the Franks |
| 48: | и́ речи́ | and he said: |
| 49: | ни́ ща вамъ данъ да ми́ давате ни́ стри́бро ни злато | ʺI do not wish from you to give me neither silver nor gold (as a) taxʺ |
| 50: | ами и́скамъ вамъ що и́мате во епи́ватъ гратъ | ʺBut I want that, what you have in the city of Epibatesʺ |
| и́ли́ в село що са нари́ча по грацки́ кали́кратѧ | ʺor in the village, which is called Kallikrateia in Greekʺ | |
| та и́ма мощи́ чи́сни и́ сти петка и́скамъ | ʺand which has the true relics and St. Petka - that I wish (?)ʺ | |

| да ми́ прати́те ти́ѧ мощи́ сти петкꙋви́ | ʺyou send me the relics of St. Petka,ʺ | |
| да ми́ са и́сплати и мене жилѧни́ тѡ̈ | ʺso that my desire will be fulfilledʺ | |
| 52: | и́ тогази́ катꙋ при́несꙋха послани́ци́ те црюви фирмани́ цръ фафъ станбꙋлъ | And then, as the envoys of the king brought the message (to the) king in Stambul |
| и́ прꙋчи́таха гѡ̈ ѡ̈ниѧ френци́ фафъ граци́ | and (as) those Franks in Greece read it, | |
| и тие парвенъ цаловаха фи́рмана тъ црювъ | they first kissed the message from the king | |
| 53: | та че напꙋкꙋнъ зеха та прати́ха фи́рманъ назатъ на славни́и́ гратъ тарнꙋвъ | And then, finally, they decided to send a message back to the glorious city of Tarnovo |

| 55: | ами́нъ црю | ʺAmen, o kingʺ |
| 56: | да баде ꙋ добаръ чѧсъ | ʺMay it be in good timeʺ |

| 58: | и́ тоги́ва катꙋ чꙋ тꙋва цръ иѡанъ развесели́ са тварде | And as King John heard it then, he became very happy |
| 59: | и́ тогази́ зе та пꙋсна ахрепи́скꙋпа влдка и́ попови́ и́ ѡ̈ще дѧкꙋне | And then he decided to send the archbishop and priests, and also deacons, |
| да зематъ мощи́ те сти́и́ петкꙋви́ | to take the relics of St. Petka | |
| 60: | и така пꙋеха сти мощи́ сасъ гꙋлѧма слава | And thus they took the holy relics with great glory |
| 61: | и́ и́маха сиръ френцки и́ грацки́ | And they had French and Greek cheese (?) |
| 62: | и́ дꙋдоха | And they came |
| 63: | ѿсади́ха садна бꙋлгарски́ | And they passed (?) the Bulgarian settlements |
| 64: | и́ тогази ѿ си́ла и́ ѿ градови излезꙋха сасъ свеще и́ сасъ канди́лни́ци сасъ тамѧнъ и́зморно | And then from the villages and cities (people) went out with candles and censers with thyme |
| 65: | и́ посрещаха сти мощи́ | And they met the holy relics |
| 66: | болни́ и́сцелѧваше | The ill were healed |
| 67: | и́ посрещаха сти мощи́ | And they met the holy relics |
| 68: | роми́ прꙋходюваха | The lame began to walk |
| 69: | и́ лепи́ прꙋгледꙋваха | and the blind began to see |
| 70: | и́ варвѧ ми́нзи́лъ хаберъ слатъ хаберъ на црѧ и́оана | And all the news (?) came to the King John |
| 71: | та казꙋваха | And they said (about it?) |
| 72: | и́ дареши́ ги́ цръ и́ гꙋлѧмъ даръ | And the king gave them a great gift (?) |
| 73: | и́ кꙋга при́ожда славни́е гратъ тарнꙋво | And when (they) came (to) the glorious city of Tarnovo, |
| и́ тогази́ зе цръ и́оанъ та си́ пꙋстави́ корона та си́ стиѧ на глава та | then King John decided to put his holy crown on his head | |
| 74: | и́ ꙋблечи́ в пора та си́ црцка | And he clothed himself in his regal vestments (?) |
| 75: | и́ и́злези́ сасъ маи́ка си́ црцка и́лена и́ сасъ своѧ си́ два на ди́сетъ тѧхъ ри́џели́ | And he went out with his royal mother Elena and his 12 retainers (?) |

| 77: | погледаха местꙋ | They looked (at ?) the city |
| 78: | пꙋсрешна и́ при́е чи́сни́ мощи́ | And he met and accepted the holy relics |
| 79: | и́ цалꙋва ги́ | And he kissed them |
| 80: | и́ внеси́ ги́ в славни́ гратъ ф тарнꙋвъ | And he brought them to the glorious city (ʺinʺ) Tarnovo |
| 81: | и́ повели́ цръ | And the king commanded |
| 82: | та загради́ха черкꙋва и́ манасти́ръ славенъ во име сти́и́ѧ петка | And they built a church and a famous monastery in the name of St. Petka |
| 83: | и́ пꙋложи́ха сти́е мꙋщи́ | And they put (there) the holy relics |
| 84: | и́ сидѧха ти́ѧ чисти́ѧ мощи́ ф тарнꙋво ·лв· годѧнъ | And those pure relics were seated there in Tarnovo for 32 years |
| 85: | и́ напꙋкꙋнъ кꙋга са размери́ ꙋ рꙋмѧли́ска зи́мѧ | And finally, as she became known (?) in the land of Rumelia, |
| кꙋтꙋ зеха да при́земетъ тꙋрци́ те земѧ та | then (?) the Turks decided to conquer the land | |

| 91: | та ги́ постави́ ва манасти́ръ сти́ти́ли́мъ | And he placed them in the monastery of the Apostles |
