1:	[...] Бѣ́ше град͛ вели́кь вь аньто́листѣи землѝ на мѣс͛тѣ скаман͛дрѣ	There was a very large city in the land of Anatolia, on the place called Skamander
2:	и́мáше ·мѕ· врат͛	it had 46 gates
3:	и́схо́ждаше из не́го воѐ ·о· сте́говь	it mustered an army of 70 banners
4:	и́ вь стегꙋ бѣ́ше по ·з· сьт͛ воѐ	and under each banner there were around 6 hundred warriors
5:	и́ ть̀ град зовѣше с(е) тро́ать.	and the city's name was Troas
6:	и́ бѣ́ше вь нем црь вели́кь ѕѣло̂	and there was a very great king there
7:	име емꙋ бѣ́ше амо́рь црь	his name was king Amor
8:	и́ вь единꙋ но́щь ви́дѣ црь вь снѣ гдѐ ро́ди црца его глáвнꙋ ѡгнѣнꙋ	in one night he saw (a dream), where his Queen gave birth to a burning firebrand
9:	и запали град троꙗ́ть	and it ignited the city of Troas
10:	и и́зго́рѣ вьс͛.	and it burned down totally
11:	и вь то́ врѣме и́мꙋщи црца его вь чрѣ́вѣ дѣте.	and in that time his Queen had a child in her bosom
12:	да егда ро́ды быс(т) женьскы по́ль.	and when she gave birth, it was a girl
13:	и́ ꙋбоꙗ́ се црь ѿ сьна	and the king became afraid of his dream
14:	да егда быс(т) ·ѕ· мць о́тро́четꙋ и́ вьло́жи его црь вь стль́пь кáмень	and when the child was 6 months old, the king put it in a tower
15:	и́ сь ним вьло́жи ·г· же́ни нѣ́ми да слꙋ́жить е́мꙋ	and he put there with it three mute women to serve her
16:	и́ запрѣ́ти им црь вельми. да не прибли́жит се ни́що кь стль́пꙋ.	and he forbade them seriously not to let anything come close to the tower
	да не слишит͛ отро́че глса ни́кои.	so that the child does not hear any voice
	нъ̂ нѣ́мо да вьзрáстеть.	but to grow up mute
17:	и́ быс(т) двца вь стль́пѣ за ·еı· лѣ̀т	and thus the girld was for 15 years in the tower
18:	да егда боу́дѣше вьсход слнцꙋ. о́на бо̂ станѣше про́тивꙋ слнцꙋ.	at the dawn she stood up towards the sun
19:	и прозором глюще, по едино рѣ́чи ѿ вьсѣх ези́кь	and she spoke from the window by one word from all the languages
20:	црь амо́рь чюждаше с(е), и вьсѝ болѣ̀ре.	king Amor and all of his boyars wondered
21:	понеже́ не разꙋмѣхꙋ что̂ глѥ́ть.	because they did not understand, what she speaks
22:	и́ сьбра црь по члкꙋ ѿ вьсѣх ези́кь	and the king collected people from all nations
23:	и́ приведе хи кь стльпꙋ и́деже бѣ́ше отроко́вица.	and he brought them beneath the tower, where the girl was (imprisoned)
24:	и рче им	and he said to them:
25:	послꙋшаи́те	listen!
26:	да кто̂ что̂ чюеть тá бо записꙋи́те.	and what anyone hears, write it down
27:	ѡно бо̂ запи́сахꙋ кто̂ что̂ бѣ" чю́ль и разꙋмѣль.	and thus they wrote, what each of them had heard and understood
28:	да егда о̂на прѣста глáти. сьнесо́ше писанїе прѣд цра	and when she stopped speaking, they all brought what they wrote to the king
29:	и сьстáвишꙋ рѣ́чь.	and they made a speech out of it
30:	и обрѣ́тоше гдѐ млит се бꙋ за оца своего	and they found out that ("where") she was praying for her father
31:	глѥ	speaking:
32:	ги не по́стави емꙋ грѣ́ха	o Lord, do not count this sin of his
33:	поне́же ль́дь ѥс(т).	for he is mad
34:	и не вѣс(т) что̂ тво́рит͛.	and he does not know, what is he doing
35:	и бжїе повѣ́лѣнїе не вьзмо́жно ес(т) прѣтво́рити.	who can change the command of God?
36:	а сїе еже ви́дѣ сь́нь то̂ хо́щеть сьтво́рити брáть моѝ.	but that, what he had seen in the dream, that shall be done by my brother
37:	ѥс(т) ннꙗ вь чрѣ́ве мтри моеѝ црци	who now lays in the bosom of my mother the Queen
38:	и хо́щет͛ роди́ти се.	and who will be born
39:	да егда роди́ се о́тро́че быс(т) мꙋжь́ски по́ль.	when the child was born, it was a boy
40:	и́ повѣ́ле црь	the king commanded
41:	и ѿнесоше его вь го́рꙋ пꙋстꙋ.	and they brought him to deserted mountains
42:	и́ поврь́гоше его	and they threw him away
43:	и́ обрѣ́те его меч͛ка и́же бѣ́ше изьгꙋ́била щен͛це своѐ ѿ лов͛ць	and the child was found by a bear, which had lost its cub to hunters and had much milk
44:	и́ подемши меч͛ка отро́че.	and the bear took the child
45:	и вьсьхрáни его за ·г· лѣт͛ дон͛деже пришьд лов͛ци	and (the bear) fed the child for 3 years until the hunters came
46:	и оубишꙋ меч͛кꙋ.	and they killed the bear
47:	а отроче ем͛ше	and they took the child
48:	и при́ведоше ег прѣд цра	and they brought it to the king
49:	и познавь его црь рче	and having recognized him, the king said:
50:	се" ѥс(т) снь моѝ.	this is my son
51:	и нарче име емꙋ але́ѯандрь. сѝрѣч о́брѣ́тень.	and they called the son Alexander, that is, the 'found one'
52:	а и́же быс(т) вь стль́пѣ двца. и и́зведо́шꙋ ю	and the maiden, which was in the tower, was taken outside
53:	и наре́коше име еѝ маг͛дона сѝрѣч͛ прѣ́мꙋдра	and they gave her name Magdona, which means 'most wise'
54:	дь́щи его бѣ" лѣпа и прѣ́мꙋдра ѕѣло̂. пáче вьсѣх вели́ко	his daughter was the most wise in the whole world
55:	и́ написа мꙋжа на ко́ни.	and she drew a man on a horse
56:	и прихо́ждахꙋ ѿ и́них црех͛	and other kings were coming
57:	хо́техꙋ ю поети себѣ̀ црцꙋ.
58:	она же глáше	and she spoke:
59:	аще не виждꙋ мꙋжа на кон͛ ꙗ́здеща ꙗ́коже азь писах. то не пои́мꙋ себѣ̀ мꙋжа.	if I will not see a man riding on a horse, like in my drawing, I will not take a husband for myself
60:	и тáко сѣдѣше не хо́тѣше.	and thus she sat, wanting not (anyone)
61:	и́ вь един͛ днь сѣде́щи еѝ на вѣтрьницѣ	and one day she sat on the balcony
62:	и́ ви́дѣ мꙋ́жа вьз͛ море ꙗ́здеща ·в· прьпри́ща мѣ́ста	and she saw a man riding out of the sea, about two fathoms from the place
63:	и́ рче кь о́цꙋ своемꙋ. црꙋ	and she said to her father, king Amor:
64:	ги тои́ мнѣ̂ бꙋдет͛ мꙋ́жь.	o lord, that shall be my husband
65:	нь̂ пꙋсти	so send (a messenger)
66:	и́ при́зови его	and invite him in
67:	и́ посла црь	and the king sent (to him messengers)
68:	и́ при́зоваше его.	and they invited him in
69:	и́ вѣдѣ црь сáракина	and the king knew (saw?) a Saracen
70:	и почю́ди се ѕѣло̂.	and he wondered a lot
71:	и рче емꙋ	and (the king) said to him:
72:	повѣждь ми брáте ѿ кꙋ́дꙋ гре́диши	tell me, o brother, where do you come from?
	и́ли что̂ ище́ши	or what do you look for?
73:	сáрáкинен͛ рче.	the Saracen said:
74:	азь есмь сꙋл͛тан͛ црь вьсеѝ землѝ сарáкинскои.	I am king Sultan of all Saracenia
75:	и хрáбростїю моею̀ никто не и́мат͛	and no one has my bravery
76:	и и́щꙋ же́нꙋ да пои́мꙋ се́бѣ лѣ́пꙋ и́ мꙋдрꙋ пáче вьсѣх вели́ко	I search for the most beautiful and wise woman in the world to take her for a wife

87:	и́ ѿведе вь сарáкїю вели́кꙋ.	and he brought her to the Great Saracenia
88:	алеѯандрь же расте вь домꙋ ѡца своего̀.	Alexander grew up in the house of his father
89:	и быс(т) мꙋжь рат͛никь и кр(ѣ)пкь ѕѣло̂. и црь вьсѣм елином.	and he was the (strongest) warrior of all the nations and a king for all Greeks/pagans
90:	и бѣ́ше лѣ́пота его ве́лїа ѕѣло̂.	And his beauty was very great.
91:	и пове́лѣ вльхвом своим	And he commanded his wizards
92:	и рче.	and he said:
93:	аще ми и́зьобрѣщет͛ же́нꙋ лѣ́пꙋ и мꙋдрꙋ пáче вьсѣх вели́ко. то̂ азь вам сьтво́рꙋ мно́га до́бра.	If you will find me the most beautiful and wisest woman in the world, I will do a great good to you
94:	вльх͛ви сь вль́шьб͛ствѡм своим. ѡ́бишьдшим вьсꙋ землю̀.	And the wizards travelled around the whole world by their magic
95:	и обрѣ́тоше же́нꙋ вь моу́реѝ сиѡ́на цра црцꙋ имающи лѣпо́тꙋ велїа ѕѣло̂.	and they found a woman in Morea, King Sion's queen, having a very great beauty
96:	и́ме еи бѣ́ше гилꙋ́да.	Her name was Giluda
97:	и́ при́ведоше ю кь алеѯан͛дрꙋ	and they brought her to Alexander
98:	и́ повѣ́даше емꙋ.	and they said to him (about her)
99:	тогда пáкы рче вльхвом своим.	then he said to his wizards:
100:	сьберѣ́те ме вь сь́нѣ сь нею̀. да ви́димь дрꙋ́гь дрꙋ́га.	bring me together with her in a dream, so that we can see each other
101:	и́ сьбрав͛ше их вльх͛ви нощїю вь сьнѣ.	and the wizards brought them together every night in a dream
102:	и́ толи́ко люблѣ́хꙋ се ѕѣло̂. за ·в· лѣт͛	and they loved each other very much for 2 years
	ели́ко дню желáхꙋ вечерꙋ би́ти.	so that in day they wanted the evening to come
103:	да ꙗ́ко вь сьнѣ згово́рѣста се тáко и́ вь дни тво́рахꙋ	and as they made a plan in a dream, thus they did in a day
104:	алеѯандрь сьтво́ри се ꙗ́ко единь ѿ кꙋпь́ць	Alexander disguised himself as one of the merchants
105:	и прїи́де вь палиѡ́пол͛ сь кораб͛ми кь сиѡ́нꙋ црꙋ.	and he went with ships to Paleopol to King Sion
106:	и́ но́сеще мно́го и́мѣнїа	and he brought much wealth
107:	и́ даро́ва си́ѡ́на цра.	and he gave presents to King Sion
108:	и́ сиѡ́нь црь даро́ва тог͛.	and King Sion gave presents to him
109:	и сьтво́риста се брáтїа.	and they made themselves brothers
110:	а ги́лꙋда црца сь алеѯандром вьсегда бѣ" по ѡ́бӥчаю.	and Giluda always was with Alexander, as it was (their) custom
111:	да егда го́стѣста се ѡ́на сѣ́дѣше при алеѯандра	so when they had a dinner, she sat next to him
112:	сиѡ́нꙋ смѣꙗше се. ꙗко алеѯан͛дрова же́на бѣ".	she laughed at Sion that she was the Alexander's wife.
113:	да егда ѿхождаше сиѡн͛ вь дом своѝ. глáше црци своеѝ,	and when he went home, he said to his queen:
114:	ѡ велїе чю́до о сем	o, what a wonder is this
115:	ꙋ сего кꙋп͛ца сїа же́на, вели́кꙋ при́ликꙋ имат͛ кь немꙋ. ꙗк͛ тогова ѥс(т) же́на	the woman of this merchant is so similar to him, as if she was his wife
116:	тогда игилꙋда гневаше с(е),	Then Giluda got angry
117:	и глáше емꙋ	and she said to him:
118:	почто̂ ме́не при́лагаеши к то̂мꙋ.	why do you associate myself with him?
119:	аще âзь тáко есмь то̂ и́ ти при́личен͛ еси то́мꙋ кꙋп͛цꙋ.	if I am such, then you also look like that merchant
120:	ѡн͛ пáкы алеѯандра зо́вѣше на го́сти	And he invited Alexander as a guest again
121:	и ѡна тꙋ̀ бѣ"	and she was there
122:	и тáко творѣ́ста за ·ѕ· мць гогда оу то́го ког͛да оу того.	and thus they did for 3 months, once at one, other time at another one (?)
123:	алеѯандрь ѡбрѣ́таше се вь и́ньнаꙗ̂ рꙋха прѣмѣнꙋюще се.	Alexander was coming clad in different clothes
124:	и и́мáше бо̂ алеѯандрь вь ко́раби своем, ман͛ѳїю сь злáтом и бисером и каменїем мно́гоцѣ́нним оукрáшеннаа.	and Alexander had in his ship a mantle jeweled by gold and pearls and precious stone
125:	чюв͛ши бо̂ иги́лꙋда црца ꙗко́ про́даюет͛ алеѯандрь вь корáби своем манѳїю.	and Giluda heard that Alexander sells the mantle,
126:	си́ѡ́нь црь вь́нѣ изь град изь́шьль бѣ́ше	King Sion had left the city
127:	и не бѣ̀ тоу".	and he was not there
128:	гилꙋ́да же вьстав͛ши сь мáло раб͛ми	and Queen Giluda stood up with few servants
129:	и прїи́де вь корабль кь алеѯандрꙋ видѣ́ти манѳїю.	and she came to the ship to see the mantle
130:	алеѯандрь повѣлѣ вьздвиг͛нꙋти вѣтрила корабем	Alexander commanded to hoist the sails
131:	и ѿнесо́ше гилꙋдꙋ црцꙋ.	and he abducted Queen Giluda
132:	и́ при́ведоше ю вь ве́лики град троꙗдь	and he brought her to the big city of Troas
133:	тогда град по́тресе ѕѣло̂.	Then the city shook very much
134:	амо́рь црь ѿць его рче	the king Amor, his father, said:
135:	вь йстинꙋ
	сьби́ се сь́нь моѝ. иже видѣхь главнꙋ ѡгнѣнꙋ.	truly, my dream, where I saw the burning log, has been fulfilled
136:	сиѡ́нь црь ѡста вь пе́чали и вь порꙋганїем великѡм ѕѣло̂.	King Sion remained in sorrow and great shame
137:	и пꙋсти кь ıѡ́гꙋ црꙋ брáтꙋ своемꙋ оу́ вáсань град.	And he sent (a messenger) to his brother Jug in the city of Vasan
138:	ıѡ́га црь посла кь своим шꙋрем. вь ханаѡн͛ и вь хал͛деи и вь месо́потамїю и вь пер͛сих. и вь тар͛сись	And Jug sent to his brothers-in-law in Canaan, and Chaldea, and Mesopotamia, and in Persis, and in Tarsis.
139:	месопотамсти же црїе и ханаѡ́ньсти и̂ перси́дсти и тарсидсти сьбрáше се вьсѣх црѝ ·дı·	And all the 14 Mesopotamian, Persian, Tarsidian and Canaanite kings gathered together
140:	и прии́доше на алеѯан͛дра цра и на ве́ликы град троꙗть	And they went against the king Alexander and the great city of Troas
141:	и ѡбисѣ́доше крѣ́пко	and they besieged (it) staunchly
142:	и
	рьвáше его за ·зı· лѣт͛	And they fought it for 17 years
143:	и не можахꙋ емꙋ что̂ сьтво́рити ѿ множетва полѥ́ма	and they were not able to finish anything with all the forces (?)
144:	и бѣ́ше един͛ мꙋжь. именем памида пикерьни ıѡ́га црвь.	And among them there was a certain man with the name Palmida, King Jug's cupbearer
145:	и сьтвори изарь игрáти	And he invented the game of dice
146:	да
	егда наꙋчише с(е) вьсѐ воѐ изáра игрáти.	and when he taught all the warriors to play dice
	тогда же тъѝ пáмида сьтво́ри и тавлїю	then the same one also invented backgammon
	ꙗко да себѣ соут͛ а не ѡпои.	played as such, and not as on the field (?)
147:	пáкы тьжде пами́да. искова конꙗ мѣд͛на вели́ка ѕѣло̂.	And Pamida crafted a very big copper (bronze?) horse
148:	и̂ вьлѣзе вь ко́нꙗ мѣ́днаго сиѡ́нь црь	And he King Sion entered the copper horse
149:	и сь ним вьлѣзоше ·л· добри и храбри воѐ.	and with him 30 good and brave warriors entered
150:	а мѣдни кон͛ матан͛ски и хождаше.	And the copper horse walked by himself (?)
151:	и пáкы тьжде памида подко́вавь ко́не наѡ́пáко петалами	and then Pamida put horseshoes (?) on all horses with inverted crescents (?)
152:	и нареди вьсѐ вои́ске	And he ordered all the troops
153:	и̂ сьтвори вои́вод ·т· добрих	and made (elected) 300 good commanders
154:	и вь нощ͛ ѿи́де	and he went away at night
155:	и ськри их пами́да зад градѡм	and he hid them behind the city
156:	а на оутрїа паде далеч͛ ѿ град.	and in the morning they went far away from the city
157:	а мѣдни ко́нь остáвише на ѡ́ко́лище.	And the copper horse stayed in the surroundings
158:	и повелѣ алеѯандрь вьве́сти мѣд͛ни кон͛ вь град.	And Alexander ordered to lead the copper horse into the city
159:	тогда изиде ис ко́нꙗ мѣд͛наго си́ѡн͛ црь и сь ним ·л· воѐ до́бри и хрáбри.	then King Sion emerged from the copper horse with 30 brave soldiers
160:	и ехоу грáдꙋ врат͛. дон͛деже и мапи́да прїи́де сь мно́жеством воѐ.	and they held the door of the city until Pamida came with many warriors
161:	и приехꙋ вели́кы град троjӑдь	and they took the great city of Troas
162:	и́ разо́ришꙋ и̂ расыко́пашꙋ его	and they destroyed and crushed it, speaking:
163:	глю́ще
164:	истьщаи́те истьщаи́те до ѡ́снованїе землѝ.	raze, raze it to the foundations of the earth!
165:	алеѯандр же поем же́нꙋ свою гили́дꙋ црцꙋ	And Alexander took his wife Giluda
166:	и вь но́щи из град изиде	and he left the city at night
167:	и побѣгнꙋвь кь соултанꙋ црꙋ зе́тꙋ своѐмꙋ вь сáкїю.	And he fled to King Sultan, his son-in-law, to Saracenia
168:	да ꙗ́ко бѣ́ше гнѣ́вь бжїи на си́ѡна цра.	for there was God's anger against King Sion
169:	да егда вьзврáти се сь свои́ми воѝ. вь дом своѝ ни един͛ же ѿ них не о́брѣ́те же́нь своѝ.	and when he returned to his home with his warriors, not one of them found his wife
170:	нь тьк͛мо поу́сти дове их ѡбрѣ́тахꙋ.	but they found only empty houses
171:	о́ни бо̂ бѣ́хꙋ бѣ́жали сь раб͛ми свои́ми.	because they ran with their servants
172:	áлеѯандрь вьз͛дви́же соул͛тана црѣ и вьсꙋ сарáкїю.	Alexander raised King Sultan with all the Saracenia (to arms)
173:	и и́зби вьсѐ цре ханаѡ́ньскїе и́ месопо́тамистїе и́ хал͛деи́скїе. и тар͛сискїе и́ пер͛сискїе.	and he killed all the kings of Canaan, and Mesopotamia, and Chaldea, and Tarsis, and Persia
174:	и́ на сиѡ́на црѣ прїи́де вь мо́реи град	and he attacked King Sion in the city of Morea
175:	и порáзи его.	and (Alexander) defeated him
176:	такожде и на ıѡ́га црѣ брáта его прїи́де	in the same way he attacked King Jug, his brother
177:	порáзи его	and (Alexander) defeated him
178:	и разо́ри вели́ки град васан͛.	And he destroyed the great city of Vasan
179:	и тѣх прѣехꙋ сарáкинꙗне.	and their (land) was taken by Saracens
180:	âлеѯандрь сми́ри се сь рáби сиѡн͛скими.	Alexander made a peace with the servants of Sion
	еже бѣхꙋ бѣжали сь госпждами свои́ми. иже бѣхꙋ им же́ни.	who had ran away with their mistresses, who were their wives
181:	алеѯáньдрь стоꙗ́ше вь пáлиополь.	Alexander stood in Paleopol
182:	а сиѡн͛ црь стоꙗше вь елеѡ́сѣ.	and Sion stood in Eleos (Mount of Olives?)
183:	а сꙋлтан͛ стоꙗ́ше сь рабими сиѡ́ньскими.	and Sultan stood with Sion's servants
184:	биꙗ́хꙋ се рáби сь гсньми свои́ми	the servants fought their own masters
185:	поне́же им же́ни домо́ве йхь напꙋ́стиле.	because their wives left their houses
186:	и́ толи́ко бѣше вь ти дни. теш͛кы рáты	And the fights were so heavy in those days
	ели́ко тисꙋ́щь мрь́тви гивахꙋ за ·и· мца на днь по ти́сꙋщьи.	that for two months, each day there fell a thousand of dead
187:	и́ порáзише вьсѐ црїе ханáн͛сти ·дı·	And they killed all the 14 kings
188:	тогда ѥрслмь разо́ришꙋ и и́нѣх грáдовь великих ·сил·	then Jerusalem was destroyed, among 230 other cities
189:	и́ воѐ погꙋбише	and warriors were slain
190:	и́ хо́ри ѡ́пꙋстишꙋ.	and they desolated lands
191:	сꙋлтан͛ же ѡста и алеѯандрь и сь ним ·р· люд	and King Sultan remained and Alexander and about a hundred of warriors with him
192:	поне́же вьсѝ и́збише с(е)	because all (the others) were slain
193:	и видѣ алеѯандрь коли́ко се злà сьтвори за еднꙋ же́нꙋ.	And Alexander saw how much evil was done for one woman
194:	и́ поем мь́чь свои	and he took his sword
195:	и́ ѿсѣче же́нѣ своеи глáвꙋ. и́гилꙋди црци (сестри своеѝ).	and he cut off the head of his wife, Queen Giluda
196:	а сам ско́чи вь мо́ри.	and he himself jumped into the sea
197:	бꙋ же нáшемꙋ слáва вь вѣ́кы	glory be to our God forever!
