2:	како оуби сїѡна цра амореиска. и ѡга цра въсан͛скаго. и ·вı· цри ханаских.	[Title] How he slew Sion, king of Amorites and Og, king of Vasan, and 12 (other) kings of Canaan
3:	Быс град вѣкь. ѕѣло. вь анаѳоли́скои земли на мсѣ скаман͛дре.	There was a very large city in the land of Anatolia, on the place called Skamander
4:	имаше ·мѕ· врат͛.	it had 46 gates
5:	исхождаше из͛ него воиска ·о· стѣговь.	it mustered an army of 70 banners
6:	и тои град называет͛ се трда.	and the city's name was Troas
7:	бѣше въ неи црь вѣлик͛ и страшень ѕѣло	there was a very great and terrible king there
8:	имѣ емꙋ бѣ аморь црь.	his name was king Amor
9:	въ еди́нꙋ но́щь виде црь сьнь страш͛нь	in one night he saw a terrible dream
10:	и оубоꙗ се ѿ него́.	and he was afraid much because of it
11:	виде где роди црца глав͛ною ѡгьн͛ною	he saw (a dream) where the queen gave birth to a burning firebrand
12:	и запалы град трад͛	and it ignited the city of Troas
13:	из͛горе ѿнꙋд͛.	it burned down totally
14:	и въ то врѣмѣ имѣаше црца дете въ оутробѣ.	and in that time the queen had a baby in her bosom
15:	егда роди его быс жен͛скы пол͛.	when she gave birth, it was a girl
16:	егда быс ѿроче ·ѕ· мць. и въставы црь ѿроче въ стльпѣ. и три жены неми да слꙋжить еи.	when the child was 6 months old, the king imprisoned it in a tower with three mute women to serve her
17:	и запрѣти вѣл͛ми ꙗко да не чюе глас нї речи члвчїе.	and he strictly prevented her from hearing neither voice nor words of humans
	да тáко въз͛растеть.	to have her grow like that
	да не видитъ камо се хощеть ѡбратыти.	to make her not see (any help) to turn for
18:	и тꙋ быс вь стльпѣ ·еı· лѣт	and thus she was for 15 years in the tower
	не чꙋв͛ши глас ны ре́чи члвчїи.	without having heard a voice or words of humans
19:	егда бѣше въ исход͛ слнца стáнеше на въстокъ слнца ѡбразѡм.	at the dawn she stood up towards the east with face
20:	и прозѡрѡм гледающи глаше. ѿ въсех езыкъ по речи единои.	and, looking from the window, she spoke from all the languages by one word
21:	црь амо́рь чюждаш(е) се и въси болꙗре	king Amor and all of his boyars wondered
22:	понеже не разꙋмѣхꙋ что глеть.	because they did not understand, what she speaks
23:	и сьбра црь по члкꙋ ѿ вьсѣх ези́кь	and the king collected people from all nations
24:	и привдѣ их под͛ стльпь идеже бе ѿроко́вица.	and he brought them beneath the tower, where the girl was (imprisoned)
25:	и тако рче им͛	and he said them:
26:	послꙋшаите	listen!
27:	да что чюете и разꙋмеете тако напишете	and write what you hear and understand
28:	тако и записаше еже кто разꙋме	thus they wrote, what they understood
29:	егда ѡна прѣста глати. снесоше въсы̏ писанїе прѣд цремь.	when she stopped speaking, they all brought what they wrote to the king
30:	и ѡбрѣто́ше где. млет се бꙋ за ѡца своего	and they found out that ("where") she was praying for her father
31:	глеть.	speaking:
32:	ги не по́стави емꙋ грѣха.	o Lord, do not count this sin of his
33:	лꙋдь бо ѥс	for he is mad
34:	и не вѣс что творить.	and he does not know, what is he doing
35:	бжїе хотение кто можеть разꙋмерити.	who can understand the will of God?
36:	нъ еже ѥс сьнь видел͛ то сьтво́рить брать моı	but what he had seen in the dream, that shall be done by my brother
	еже ѥс въ оутробѣ црцы	who lays in the bosom of the Queen
37:	и хощеть родити се.	and who will be born
38:	егда роди се быс ѿроче мꙋжьскѡ.	when the Queen gave birth, it was a boy
39:	повѣле црь	the king commanded
40:	и ѡднесоше его въ пꙋстїе горы	and they brought him to deserted mountains
41:	и повръгоше его.	and they threw him away
42:	и ѡбрете ѿроче меч͛ка иже бе изьгꙋ́била щен͛це свое ѿ лов͛ца и болѣхꙋваше млѣкомь.	and the child was found by a bear, which had lost its cub to hunters and had much milk
43:	и въс͛хранıи ѿроче за ·г· лѣт͛	and (the bear) fed the child for 3 years
44:	дондеже ѕвѣрь лов͛ци оубише	until the beast was killed by hunters
45:	и ѿроче ем͛ше и привѣдоше кь црꙋ	and having taken the child, they brought it to the king
46:	и позна црь ꙗко ть" ѥс снь его	and the king recognized his son
47:	а еже быс двца въ с(т)льпе изведоше ю	and they freed the maiden, which was in the tower
48:	и нарекоше име еи Магьдꙋнꙋ.	and they gave her name Magdona
	рек͛ше сиреꙗн͛ски прѣмꙋдра.	which means 'most wise' in Syriac
49:	а синоу нарече алеѯан͛дрь.	and they called the son Alexander
	елин͛скы обретень.	(which means) 'a found one' in Greek
50:	дьщи его бѣ въсего свѣта- и мꙋдреи въсех.	his daughter was the most wise in the whole world
51:	и списа мꙋжа на коны	and she drew a man on a horse
52:	прихождахꙋ ѿ инех цри	other kings were coming
53:	просехо ю жени себѣ	they asked her to become their wife
54:	ѡна глаше	(but) she spoke:
55:	егда видꙋ мꙋжа на кони ꙗздеща. ꙗкоже ѥс въ писани моемь	when I will see a man riding on a horse, like in my drawing
	того поимоу азь мꙋжа.	that one I will take (for) a husband
56:	и тако въсех не хотеще.	and thus she rejected all
57:	въ единь днь седещи еи на полате виде члвка въз͛ море ꙗздеща ·в· пьприща места	as she sat in the palace one day, she saw a man riding out of the sea, about two fathoms from the place
58:	и рче кь ѡцꙋ своемꙋ аморꙋ црꙋ	and she said to her father, king Amor:
59:	ги тои бꙋдеть мꙋжь мои	o lord, that shall be my husband
60:	послы да призовꙋть его	send to him (messengers?) to invite him in
61:	и посла црь	and the king sent (to him messengers)
62:	и призваше его	and they invited him in
63:	и въниде црь	and the king came in
64:	и почюди се	and he wondered
65:	и въпроси его црь	and the king asked him:
66:	повѣждь ми брате ѿ кꙋдꙋ еси или что ищеши	tell me, o brother, where are you from or what do you seek
67:	саракинь рче.	the Saracen said:
68:	азь есмь сꙋл͛тань црь въсе саракїни	I am king Sultan of all Saracenia
69:	и хрáбрость мою никто не имать	and no one has my bravery
70:	ищꙋ женꙋ въсех лѣп͛ша и мꙋдреиша	I search for the wisest and most beautiful woman of all
71:	понеже ю бѣ самь видель въ снѣ	because he had seen such one in a dream by himself
72:	да аще знаете где повѣдите мнѣ	so if you know where (there is one), tell me
73:	тогда магдонꙋ изведоше емꙋ.	then they led Magdona to him
74:	виде ю сꙋл͛тань и позна ю.	Sultan saw her and he knew her
76:	и поемше	and he took her
77:	и ѡдведе ю вь саракинїю	and he brought her to Saracenia
78:	алеѯандрь расте въ домꙋ ѡца своего.	Alexander grew up in the house of his fater
79:	и быс ратникь креп͛кь и црь въсем елиномь	and he became the (strongest) warrior of all the nations and a king for all nations
80:	беше бо лѣпота емꙋ вѣлїа и красотá.	And his beauty was very great.
81:	и рче вльхвом своим:	And he told his wizards:
82:	аще ми ѡбрещете женꙋ лѣп͛ша и мꙋдреиша въсего свѣта азь вамь добра сьтворꙋ	If you will find me the most beautiful and intelligent woman in the world, I will do a great good to you
83:	и ѡбидоше въсꙋ землю вльшьствѡм.	And the wizards travelled around the whole world by their magic
84:	и ѡбретоше женꙋ вь миреи оу сїѡна цра	and they found a woman in Morea, King Sion's queen
85:	име еи бѣ гїлꙋда	Her name was Giluda
86:	и повѣдаше̏ алеѯан͛дрꙋ црꙋ.	and they told him
87:	алехан͛дрь црь рче	then he said to his wizards:
88:	сьберете ме ꙗко въ снѣ сь нею да вимь дрꙋг дрꙋга.	get me with her together in a dream, so that we can see each other
89:	вльхви вльховьствомь своим сьбирахꙋ их. ката нощы за ·в· лѣт	the wizards by their magic got them together every night
90:	и толико люблехꙋ се	and they loved each other for 2 years every night
91:	елико желѣхꙋ кь вечероу быт(и)	so that in the day they wished (only) for the evening to come
92:	ꙗко вь снѣ сговораста се тако въ дны творахꙋ	what they agreed with each other in the dream, thus they did in the day
93:	алеѯан͛дрь сътвори се ꙗко единь кꙋп͛ць.	Alexander disguised himself as one of the merchants
94:	и прїиде с корабми въ палеѡполь къ сїѡнꙋ цроу носещїи именїа. многа.	and he went with ships to Paleopol to King Sion, bringing much wealth
95:	и дарꙋва сıѡна цра.	And he gave presents to King Sion
96:	и сїѡнь црь того дарꙋва.	and King Sion gave him presents
97:	и сътвориста се ·в· бр(а)та	And they became ("made themselves") brothers
98:	и гилꙋда црца. въсегда сь алеѯан͛дромь бешѣ въ таине.	and Queen Giluda was always with Alexander in secret
99:	егда хотеше алеѯан͛дрь сїѡна цра гоститы. ѡна тꙋ седеше сь алѯан͛дромъ.	when Alexander wanted to make a dinner for Sion, she sat there next to Alexander
100:	сıѡнꙋ цроу. мнеше алеѯандрова жена ѥс(т).	Sion thought she was Alexander's wife
101:	и пакы ѡна ѿхождаше вь дѡм свои.	and she went home again
102:	глаше црь сїѡн гилꙋдѥ:	King Sion spoke to the Queen:
103:	ѡ вѣлїе чюд(о)	o, what a wonder is this
104:	оу сего кꙋп͛ца жена ѥс(т) велїкꙋ твою приликꙋ носїть.	this merchant has a wife, (which) looks very similarly to you
105:	гилꙋда вѣлыко гневаш(е) се	Giluda was very angry
106:	и глаше.	and she said:
107:	что мѣне тако прилагаеши.	why do you associate myself thus (with him)?
108:	кто	who? (?)
	и да егда азь тава ес͛мь.	even if I am such
	то и ты томꙋ приличен ѥси.	then you also look like that merchant
110:	ѡн паки алеѯан͛дра зовеше на госты.	And he invited Alexander as a guest again
111:	и ѡна пакы тꙋ бѣ	and she was there
112:	и тако твореше въсегда за ·ѕ· мсць.	and thus they did for 6 months
113:	и оу того и ꙋ того ѡбреташ(е) се.	and he appeared once in one, other time in another (clothes?)
114:	и въ ина рꙋха прѣмѣнꙗш(е) се.	and he clad himself in different clothes
115:	тако и бѣжа с нею алеѯан͛дрь.	and thus Alexander ran off with her
116:	сıѡнь цръ ѡста въ пѣчалїи и въ порꙋган͛ны вѣлїко.	King Sion remained in sorrow and great shame
117:	алеѯан͛дрь егда въ вѣлїки град͛ трда вьвдѣ гилдꙋ потресе се град͛ вел͛ми	when Alexander brought Giluda into the great city of Troas, the city was shaken strongly
118:	и морь црь рче	and King (A)mor said:
119:	въ истинꙋ сьврьши се сьнь мои еже видех прѣжде.	truly, the dream I saw earlier is fulfilled
120:	сїѡн же црь посла кь братꙋ своемꙋ иѡгꙋ.	and King Sion sent for his brother Jug
121:	иѡгь посла кь шꙋремь своим вь хаанань. и въ хал͛дею и въ мѣс(т)опотамїе.	Jug sent for his brothers in law in Canaan and Chaldea and Mesopotamia
122:	мѣс(т)опотамїисты црїе и пер͛сидсти сьбраш(е) ·дı· црıе.	and the Mesopotamian and Persian kings assembled 14 kings
123:	и приидоше на алеѯан͛дра цра и на град вѣлїкы трда.	and they came against King Alexander and the great city of Troas
124:	и ѡбиседоше град͛	and they besieged it
125:	и ратоваше его за ·зı· лѣт͛	And they fought for 17 years
126:	и не имаше емꙋ. что сътворити ѿ множества полѣма (вои).	and they were not able to finish anything because of all the forces
127:	единь именемь пал͛мида бѣше слꙋга иѡга цра.	one (man) named Palmida was a servant of King Jug
128:	и прооуме се затрїкы играти.	And he invented to play dice
129:	тогда палмида прооуме тавлиꙋ играти ꙗко да срьдце болерѣ играюще.	then Palmida invented backgammon, to make the heart of boyars playful (?)
130:	и пакы пал͛мида сьтвори конꙗ мед͛на велїа ѕѣло.	and again, Palmida crafted a very big copper (bronze?) horse
131:	и вълезе. въ конꙗ сїѡн црь и ·л· храберь добрихь.	and King Sion entered the copper horse and with him 30 good and brave (warriors)
132:	и медни конь маѳатаскїи хождаше.	and the copper horse walked by himself (?)
133:	пал͛мида пѡдкова конꙗ по копетами.	Palmida put horseshoes on the horses
134:	и ѡд͛бра добрих вои ·т·	and he selected 300 good warriors
135:	и скри их въ нощи зад͛ градѡм.	and they went away at night
136:	и того конꙗ ѡставише на ѡколїщи.	and they left the horse around
137:	и изидоше ѿ град͛	and they went away from the city
138:	и наидоше конꙗ на ѡколїщїи.	and they found the horse in the vicinity
139:	и чюждахꙋ се	and they wondered
140:	и поведаше алеѯан͛дрꙋ.	and they told Alexander
141:	алеѯан͛дрь рче	Alexander said:
142:	въвѣдте конꙗ въ грда.	bring the horse into the city
143:	ведещи конꙗ въ град͛. трад͛	bringing the horse into the city of Troas
144:	и на вратех грдоу изыде сıѡн црь ис конꙗ и вьси вои сь ним.	and at the gates of the city, King Sion and all the warriors came out of the horse
145:	и приеть град͛ трдоу	and they took the city of Troas
146:	и раз͛валї его до кон͛ца.	and they destroyed it utterly
147:	алеѯан͛дрь црь поеть женꙋ свою гилдꙋ	and Alexander took his wife Giluda and left the city at night
148:	и въбѣжа къ сꙋл͛танꙋ зетꙋ своемꙋ въ саракїнїю.	and he ran away to Sultan, his son in law, into Saracenia
149:	да ꙗко быс(т) гневь бжїи на сıѡна цра.	for there was God's anger against King Sion
150:	егда прииде въ дѡм свои сь вои своими не ѡбретоше жени свои въ домовѣх своих.	when he returned to his home with his warriors, they did not find their wives in their houses
151:	понеже бехꙋ бежалї сь раби своими.	because they ran with their servants
152:	въси вои обретоше домови свои пꙋсты.	all the warriors found their houses deserted
153:	алеѯан͛дрь же поеть сꙋлтана и въсꙋ силꙋ саракїинскые.	and Alexander took Sultan and all the forces of Saracenes
154:	и побы в͛си цри ханан͛скїе. и месопотамискїе и халдеискїе.	and he slew all the kings of Canaan, Mesopotamia and Chaldea
155:	иде на ѡга цра	he went against King Jug
156:	и оуби его	and he killed him
157:	и разоры град͛ великь въ вьсань.	And he destroyed the great city of Vasan
158:	и тех възехꙋ земли сьракинїи вь достоꙗнїе.	and the (nation of) Saracenes took their land for their own
159:	и въсе егда прѣбивае тако.	and as everything thus passed (?)
160:	и приидоше на сıѡна цра въ моуреꙋ	and they came to King Sion to Morea
161:	и смїри се алеѯан͛дрь сь раби сїѡн͛скими. еже бехꙋ бежали сь женами детеми.	and Alexander made peace with servants of Sion, who ran away with wives (and) children (of his warriors?)
162:	сїѡн црь стоꙗше въ ѡлеѡсѣ.	King Sion stood in Eleon
163:	а сꙋл͛тан͛ и раби их бъıꙗхꙋ господини свое	and Sultan and their servants fought with their masters
164:	и ратꙋвахꙋ.	and they were making war
165:	понеже имь имехꙋ жены и домови их.	because they had their wives and their houses
166:	и тако ратоваш(е) се за ·в· мсца.	and thus it was fought for 2 months
167:	и оубише сıѡна цра и въсе вои его.	and they killed King Sion and all of his warriors
168:	и ѡста сꙋлтан и сь алеѯандромь ·р· люди.	and King Sultan remained with Alexander and about a hundred of warriors
169:	и виде алеѯандрь колїко се зла сьтворише ѡ едноı жене.	and Alexander saw, how much evil was done due to one woman
170:	тогда ѥрслмь разорише. и дрꙋзех градовь инех ·сл·	and then Jerusalem was destroyed too, among 230 other cities
171:	и вьсе вои из͛быше	and all the warriors were slain
172:	и гори ѡпꙋстыше. и въсе хори.	and hills were desolated and all the lands
173:	и ·ги· цри свень пѣр͛скаго цра.	and 13 kings excluding the King of Persia (were killed)
174:	и тако алеѯан͛дрь црь ѿсече главꙋ проклетои гилꙋде.	and thus Alexander cut off the head of accursed Giluda
175:	и самь скочи въ море	and he himself jumped into the sea
176:	оудави се.	and he drowned
177:	бꙋ нашемꙋ слва вь вѣкы	glory be to our God forever!
