1:	[===] пове́сть рáди моско́вскаго̀ цр҃а пе́тра що го нарицáют москáле бꙋ́рѡ	[Title] Legend of the Peter, King of Muscovy, whom the Muscovites call Buro
2:	Єдно вре́ме беше москов͛ски цр҃ь пе́тарь жи́вь	Once upon a time, there lived Peter, King of Muscovy.
3:	҆и доне́се мꙋ гд͒ь бг҃ь на пáметь какво да ꙋчи́ни да вѝди ко҆ꙗ́ е ве́ра нáй чи́ста ҆и най, хꙋ́бава на т҆о́ꙗ ст҃ь	And Lord God brought to his mind what to do to see, which faith is the purest and most beautiful in this world.
4:	защо́ москáле вь ҆ѡно́ва вре́ме не бе́хꙋ кр͒тенѝ	Because at that time the Muscovites were not baptized.
5:	҆и ре́че цр҃ь на сво́й насто́йницї щото́ мꙋ бе́хꙋ нáй ве́рни	And the king said to his retainers, who were his most loyal ones:
6:	да йдете по свѝ грáдове кꙋдѐ ҆има цр҃їе ҆илѝ крáлѡве	ʺGo to all the cities, where there are emperors or kings!ʺ
7:	да гле́дате ко҆ꙗ́ ве́ра какво дрьжѝ чи́стотꙋ̀ ҆и какво ҆ꙗ́дене ҆еде ҆и ко҆ꙗ́ ве́ра какво сѐ мо́ли бг҃ꙋ	ʺObserve, how which faith upholds its purity, what it eats, and how which faith prays to God!ʺ
8:	товà по сви́ те, ве́ри да ви́дите	ʺSee it for each faith!ʺ
9:	҆и да напи́шете на кни́гꙋ	ʺAnd write it in a book!ʺ
10:	҆и да мѝ донесе́те писмо́ то	And bring me the writing!ʺ
11:	҆и азь да ви́димь ко́҆ꙗ е ве́ра н҆áй чи́ста ҆и нáй хꙋбава	ʺAnd may I see, which is the purest and most beautiful faith!ʺ
12:	҆и ҆ꙗ́, да бꙋ́демь на та҆ꙗ́ вера	ʺMay I will be of that faith too!ʺ
13:	тако́й сáка моѐ срдце	ʺThus my heart wills.ʺ
14:	тако́й ре́че цр҃ь	Thus the king said.
15:	҆и ҆ѡтидо́хꙋ ҆ѡнїѧ насто́йнїци	And those retainers went out.
16:	҆и хо́ди́хꙋ по свѝ грáдове ҆и по свѝ, цр͒ки дворо́ве	And they went around all the cities and all the royal palaces.
17:	҆и кою ве́рꙋ какво̀ видо́хꙋ тако́й на кни́гꙋ записáхꙋ	And what they saw (about) which faith, thus they wrote to the book.
18:	҆и ҆ѡтидо́хꙋ ꙋ тꙋрскꙋ зе́млю, през мо́ре ꙋ анадо́ль	And they went to the Turkish land through the sea, to Anatolia.
19:	҆и тамо видо́хꙋ какво дрьжꙋ́ть тꙋр͛ци ве́рꙋ	And there they saw, how Turks uphold their faith.
20:	често сѐ миють	They wash often.
21:	҆и че́сто се клáнꙗт	And they bow down often.
22:	҆и едꙋть ме́со гове́ждо ҆и ҆ѡвче	And they eat beef and lamb.
23:	҆и не дрьжꙋ́ть ни́ко́ги ни́ сре́дꙋ ни́ пе́токь	And they hold no (fasting on?) Wednesday and Friday.
24:	҆и видо́хꙋ ҆и тꙋр͛скꙋ чистотꙋ какво̀ дрьжꙋ́ть тꙋр͛ци	And they saw the Turkish purity, which the Turks uphold.
25:	҆и това записáхꙋ на кни́гꙋ	And they wrote that to the book.
26:	҆ѡ́бидохꙋ по свꙋде	And they went all around.
27:	҆и видо́хꙋ ко҆ꙗ́ ве́ра какво̀ дрьжѝ	And they saw, what which faith holds.
28:	҆и свѐ записáхꙋ,	And they wrote all down.
29:	нáй по́сле ҆ѡтидо́хꙋ ꙋ цр҃иград при́ цр҃а костáн͛дина	Finally, they came to Tsarigrad, to Emperor Constantine,
	҆и тáмо да ви́дꙋть цр҃ь костан͛динь каквá ве́ра держи́ть	to see, what faith does Emperor Constantine hold,
	҆и каквà чистотà ҆имать ҆и́ какво̀ ҆ꙗ́дене ҆е́дꙋть	and what purity they have, and what do they eat.
30:	҆и виде́ ги, цр҃ь костан͛ди́нь	And Emperor Constantine saw them.
31:	҆и питà свой слꙋ́ги	And he asked his servants.
32:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
33:	т҆и҆ꙗ́ чл҃ве́ци ѿ кꙋдꙋ ҆есꙋ	ʺThose people, where are they from?ʺ
34:	҆и ҆ѡни ре́кохꙋ	And they said:
35:	цр҃ꙋ чести́ти тїа чл҃ве́ци сꙋть насто́йници моско́вьско́мꙋ цр҃ꙋ пе́трови	ʺO honorable Emperor, those people are retainers of Peter, King of Muscovy.ʺ
36:	҆и при́звá ги цр҃ь	And the emperor invited them.
37:	҆и питá ги	And he asked them.
38:	ӥ ре́че	And he said:
39:	ви́ѐ пощо рáди доидо́х͛те до тꙋ́ва	ʺWhy did you come here?ʺ
40:	каже́те ми прáво	ʺTell me the truth!ʺ
41:	҆и ҆ѡни ре́кохꙋ	And they said:
42:	ти дá си жи́вь цр҃ꙋ	ʺMay you live (well), o Emperor!ʺ
43:	нїѧ до́йдох͛ме до тво́ю рꙋ́кꙋ ҆и да ви́димо каквà ве́ра ви́е верꙋ́вате	ʺWe came to your hands, to see, what faith you follow,ʺ
	҆и каква чисто́та вїе дрьжи́те ҆и какво̀ ҆ꙗ́дене ви́е ҆еде́те	ʺand to see, what purity do you uphold, and what food do you eat,ʺ
	҆и нїе да ви́димо ҆и нїе да вер͛вамо	ʺso that we would see and believe too,ʺ
	҆и нїе тако̀во да ҆еде́мо	ʺand so that we would eat thus,ʺ
	҆и да бꙋ́демо ҆и нїе цр҃ꙋ рабѝ тво́й,	ʺand so we, too, will become your servants, o Emperor!ʺ
44:	҆и като чꙋ цр҃ь такви́ва мир͛ни дꙋ́ми ѿ тїѧ чл҃ве́ци ҆á ҆ѡнь ре́че́ на сво̀й насто́иници	And when the emperor heard such peaceful words from those men, he said to his servants:
45:	ско́ро донесе́те на тїѧ пꙋ́тници по ҆еди́нь кáть рꙋ́ба	ʺBring soon for each of those (?) travellers a dress!ʺ
46:	҆и доне́соха рꙋ́ба	And they brought the dress.
47:	҆и премени́хꙋ ги хꙋ́баво ҆и чт͒но какво́то е цр҃ꙋ прилично	And they clothed them nicely and honorably, as it is appropriate for an emperor.
48:	҆и гости́хꙋ ги досто̀ле́пно	And they fed them wonderfully.
49:	҆и напойхꙋ ги	And they gave them drinks.
50:	҆и ҆ꙗ́дохꙋ ѿ, све́каквѝ ҆ꙗ́стиа различнїа цр҃ьскѝ	And they ate from various royal dishes.
51:	҆и добрѐ ҆ѡбикнáхꙋ	And they like it well (?)
52:	коги́ би ꙋ, ютро стáнꙋ цр҃ь костан͛динь рáно	When the morning came, Emperor Constantine woke up early.
53:	҆и призвá сво́й патиар͛си ҆и свои влдци ҆и попо́ве ҆и кли́рици ҆и певцѝ	And he summoned his patriarchs, and his bishops, and priests, and clerics, and singers.
54:	҆и ѡти́до́хꙋ вь вели́кою цр҃квꙋ, цр҃скою	And they went to the great royal church.
55:	҆и почехꙋ дá дрьжꙋ́ть ст҃ꙋю ли́тꙋрги́ю	And they began to hold the holy liturgy.
56:	когѝ ре́че по́пь блáгослове́но цр͒тво	When the priest said: ʺBlessed (be) the kingdom!ʺ
	цр҃ь паде, сась лицѐ своѐ на землѝ	the emperor fell with his face to the ground.
57:	҆и поклони́ се	And he bowed.
58:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
59:	гд͒и сп͒и́ людїе тво́й	ʺO Lord, save your people!ʺ
60:	҆и бл͒гловѝ досто҆ꙗ́нїе твое	ʺAnd bless your inheritance!ʺ
61:	҆и́ стáнꙋ цр҃ь ѿ зе́мли	And the emperor stood up from the ground.
62:	҆и се́де на злáтень престо́ль сво́й	And he sat on his golden throne.
63:	҆и по мáло вре́ме дойде ре́дь да целꙋють, чт͒нїе ҆и ст҃ие ҆ико́ни	And after a short time the time came to kiss honorable and holy icons.
64:	прїиде цр҃ь ҆и патри́ар͛хь	The emperor and the patriarch came.
65:	҆и целовáхꙋ чт͒нїе ҆и ст҃ие ҆икони	And they kissed honorable and holy icons.
66:	по цр҃а ҆и патриарха прїидо́ша влдци	After the king and patriarch, the bishops came.
67:	҆и свѝ бол҆ꙗ́ре цр҃еви целовáхꙋ ст҃и́е ҆икони́	And all the boyars of the emperor kissed the holy icons.
68:	тако́й ҆и сви хр͒ти҆ани прїидо́хꙋ	Thus, also all the Christians came.
69:	҆и целовáхꙋ ст҃ие ҆ико́ни	And they kissed the holy icons.
70:	҆á ҆ѡ́ни҆ꙗ́ пев͛ци цр҃еви когѝ запе́хꙋ глáсь трѝ ст҃имь пе́снь чло́ве́кꙋ ꙋмь зано́сехꙋ	And those singers, when they sang the song (in?) Tone Three (?) for the saints, they were carrying away (?) the minds of men.
71:	тако́и ꙋмиле́но пее́хꙋ глáсь кáто не́кой аг҃ге́ли бж҃їи	They sung the Tone nicely as some angels of God.
72:	҆á ҆ѡнїѧ насто́инїци цр҃ь петрови сто́ехꙋ ꙋ цр҃квꙋ на тро́нове	And those retainers of King Peter sat (lit. stood) on the thrones in the church.
73:	҆и като̀ видо́хꙋ ꙋ цр҃квꙋ толи́ко хꙋбо́сть ҆и видо́хꙋ толи́ко пе́снь ҆и толи́ко слáва що ѐ ҆имало ҆ꙋ хри́стиан͛скꙋ ве́рꙋ почꙋди́хꙋ се	And when they saw so much beauty and saw so much singing and glory, which is in Christian faith, they were amazed.
74:	и ꙋ-диви́хꙋ се	And they were astonished.
75:	҆и све що видо́хꙋ тáмѡ́ записáхꙋ на кни́гꙋ	And all, what they saw, they wrote down into the book.
76:	҆и ѡтидо́хꙋ си ꙋ московїю	And they went forth to Muscovy.
77:	҆и зане́сохꙋ цр҃ꙋ писмо́ то	And they brought the writing to the king.
78:	҆и дáдоха мꙋ́ го	And they gave it to him.
79:	҆и цр҃ь петрь при́зва сво́й чет͛ци ҆и кни́жници	And King Peter summoned his readers and librarians.
80:	҆и про́че́тохꙋ ҆ѡновà писанїе що бе́хꙋ написáли ҆ѡни́а насто́иници каде́ що бе́хꙋ видели по цр͒ки те ве́ри	And they read that writing, which was written by those retainers, what (and) where they saw in royal faiths.
81:	све́ ҆исказáхꙋ цр҃ꙋ петрꙋ по ре́дꙋ за сви́ те цр҃їе ҆и за сви́ те ве́ри	And they told to King Peter everything duly about all the kings and all the faiths,
	кои какво̀ дрьжѝ чистотꙋ̀ ҆и ко҆и какво́ ҆ꙗ́дене ҆еде	who and how upholds purity, and who what kind of food eats.
82:	н҆аи по́сле проче́тохꙋ ҆и цр҃ь костáн͛диново де҆ꙗ́-нїе	Finally, they read also about the deeds of Emperor Constantine,
	какво̀ цр҃ь костан͛динь дрьжи́ ве́рꙋ хꙋ́бавꙋ	that Emperor Constantine has a beautiful faith,
	҆и дрьжѝ чистꙋ свою̀ дш҃ꙋ	and (that) he holds his soul pure,
	҆и сáмь сáсь своѐ лицѐ на землѝ пáда во вре́ме	and he himself falls with his face on the ground, in the time,
	когѝ речѐ по́пь бл҃гослове́но цр͒тво	when the priest says: ʺBlessed (be) the kingdom!ʺ
83:	тако̀й прáво ҆исправи́хꙋ насто́иници цр҃ь пе́трови цр҃ꙋ пе́трꙋ бꙋрꙋ	Thus well the retainers of King Peter explained (it) to King Peter-Buro.
84:	҆и самь цр҃ь пе́трь тако́и ре́че	And King Peter himself spoke thus:
85:	чꙋ́ите	ʺListen!ʺ
86:	҆и разꙋме́йте	ʺAnd understand!ʺ
87:	защо̀ не́ ма ни ҆една ве́ра по чи́ста ҆и по хꙋ́бава ѿ хр͒ти҆аньскꙋ ве́рꙋ на то́ꙗ ст҃ь	ʺFor there is no faith more pure and more beautiful than the Christian faith in this world!ʺ
88:	такой ҆и сви цр҃еви ꙋго́дници ре́кохꙋ	Thus also all the king's favorites spoke:
89:	во ҆истинꙋ не́ ймат ни́ еднà ве́ра по чиста ҆и по хꙋ́бава ѿ хр͒тиан͛скꙋ ве́рꙋ. на то҆ꙗ́ ст҃ь	ʺTruly, there is no faith more pure and more beautiful than the Christian faith in this world!ʺ
90:	тоги́ва ре́че цр҃ь петрь москов͛ски	Then Peter, King of Muscovy, said:
91:	ско́ро ҆иде́те ꙋ цáригрáдь да до́йде цр҃ь костан͛дїнь	ʺGo soon to Tsarigrad, so that Emperor Constantine comes,ʺ
	да мѐ покр͒ти да бꙋ́демь ҆и ҆ꙗ́ не́мꙋ брáть	ʺso that he would baptize me, so that I, too, will be his brother!ʺ
92:	҆и ҆ѡти́дохꙋ слꙋ́ги цр҃ь пе́трови	And the servants of King Peter went.
93:	҆и ре́кохꙋ	And they said:
94:	цр҃ꙋ костан͛ди́не дá йдешь вь нáшь грáдь мос͛кови́ю	ʺO Emperor Constantine, may you go to our city of Muscovy,ʺ
	да покр͒тишь цр҃а нáшего петра да бꙋ́де те́бе брáть	ʺso that you baptize our king Peter, so that he will be your brother!ʺ
95:	҆á цáрь костан͛динь ре́че	But Emperor Constantine said:
96:	҆ꙗ́ не мо́жемь дá ҆идемь да покр͒тимь цр҃а вáшегѡ ꙋ зе́млю вáшꙋ	ʺI cannot go to your land to baptize your king!ʺ
97:	но ҆áко мꙋ тре́бꙋе да до́йде ꙋ мо́й грáдь да го̀ покрь́стимь дх҃о́мь ст҃и́мь	ʺBut if he needs, let him come to my city, so that I baptize him by Holy Spirit.ʺ
98:	҆и не ҆ѡти́де	And he did not go.
99:	҆и видо́хꙋ слꙋ́ги цр҃ь пе́трови	And the servants of King Peter saw (it clear):
100:	не ще҆ꙗ́ цр҃ь костан͛динь да йде, ꙋ грáда мо́сков͛скаго да покрь́сти бꙋ́рꙋ цр҃а моско́в͛скаго	Emperor Constantine did not want to go to the city of Muscovy to baptize Buro, King of Muscovy.
101:	҆ѡ-тидо́хꙋ	They went.
102:	҆и казáхꙋ цр҃ꙋ пе́трꙋ	And they told King Peter.
103:	҆и ҆ѡнь по́жали	And he was sad.
104:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
105:	ско́ро дá йдете́ ҆и вто́ри пꙋ́ть	ʺGo soon for the second time!ʺ
106:	҆и рече́те цр҃ꙋ костáн͛динꙋ да до́иде дá ме́ пѡ́крь́сти	ʺAnd tell Emperor Constantine to come to baptize me!ʺ
107:	че ҆ако не до́иде ҆и вторѝ пꙋ́ть да ме́ покр͒тѝ да се не нáда на добро̀	ʺFor if he does not come the second time to baptize me, he should not expect any good.ʺ
108:	по́сле ҆ꙗ́ хо́щемь ди́гнꙋ́ти свѝ мо́й бол҆ꙗ́ре ҆и сви мо́й кне́зове ҆и свꙋ мою̀ во́йскꙋ на не́го	ʺThen I will raise all my boyars, and all my princes, and all my troops against him.ʺ
109:	҆и порази́ щем мꙋ свꙋ держáвꙋ	ʺAnd I shall crush all of his country!ʺ
110:	҆и ҆ѡтидо́хꙋ цр҃ь пе́трови слꙋги́	And the servants of King Peter went:
111:	҆и ре́кохꙋ	And they said:
112:	цр҃ꙋ костан͛дине по҆идѝ ҆ꙋ москови́ю ꙋ нáшь грáдь,	ʺO Emperor Constantine, go to our city of Muscovy,ʺ
	да покр͒тишь цр҃а нáшего бꙋрꙋ	ʺto baptize our King Buro!ʺ
113:	҆и пáки не ҆ѡтиде́ цр҃ь костан͛динь да покр͒ти цр҃а бꙋ́рꙋ	And again, Emperor Constantine did not go to baptize King Buro.
114:	҆и ҆ѡтидо́хꙋ	And they went away.
115:	҆и казáхꙋ цр҃ꙋ че не ще да до́йде цр҃ь костан͛динь, да покр͒ти цр҃а бꙋрꙋ моско́вьскаго̀	And they said to the king, that Emperor Constantine will not come to baptize King Buro of Muscovy.
116:	тоги́ва се зле́ расрь́ди, цр҃ь бꙋ́ро моско́вски	Then King Buro of Muscovy became very angry.
117:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
118:	ско́ро войска да сѐ збе́ре́	ʺMay the army is assembled soon.ʺ
119:	да порáзимь свꙋ дрьжáвꙋ костан͛диновꙋ	ʺLet me crush all the Constantine's realm!ʺ
120:	҆и да мꙋ, ꙋ҆змемь се́ла ҆и грáдове	ʺAnd let me take his villages and cities!ʺ
121:	҆и да мꙋ погꙋ́бимь свѝ бол҆ꙗ́ре ҆и кне́зове	ʺAnd let me kill his boyars and princes!ʺ
122:	҆и да мꙋ̀ не ҆ѡстáвимь ни ҆еди́нь, нáчал͛никь ꙋ него́во цр͒тво	ʺAnd let me leave not a single commander in his kingdom!ʺ
123:	҆и сво во҆ин͛ство него́во да пото́пимь,	ʺAnd let me drown all of his forces!ʺ
124:	нàй по́сле ҆и него дá посече́мь	ʺFinally, let me kill him too!ʺ
125:	҆и женꙋ̀ него́вꙋ д҆а ꙋз҆мемь ҆ꙗ́ да бꙋде мо҆ꙗ́	ʺAnd let me take his wife, so that she will be mine!ʺ
126:	тако̀ ѿгово́ри цр҃ь бꙋро моско́в͛ски	Thus answered King Buro of Muscovy.
127:	҆и збрá се во́йска, бе́зьчи́слена	And a countless army assembled.
128:	ни́ бро́й ҆имаше коли́ко мили҆ѡне бе́хꙋ се збрáли дá йдꙋть на цр҃а кон͛стан͛дина	There was no count of millions, who assembled to go against Emperor Constantine.
129:	҆и до́йде хабáрь цр҃ꙋ костáн͛динꙋ че́ йде войска си́лна на не́го	And the news came to Emperor Constantine, that a strong army is going against him.
130:	҆и ѡнь сáмь видѐ че не́ ма хáйрь ѿ не́го	And he himself saw, that he does not have fortune against (lit. from?) him.
131:	҆и рече	And he said:
132:	ско́ро мен͛зиль да йде да но́си кнїгꙋ послáницꙋ ѿ цр҃а костан͛ди́на	ʺMay a messenger goes quickly, to bring a written message from Emperor Constantine:ʺ
133:	да сѐ врь́не во̀йска назáть,	ʺMay the army returns back.ʺ
134:	҆и да ме не посрáми цр҃ь бꙋ́ро	ʺAnd may King Buro does not put me to shame.ʺ
135:	҆и ҆ꙗ́ хо́щемь дáти сестрꙋ̀ мою̀, не́мꙋ за женꙋ̀	ʺAnd I will give him my sister for a wife.ʺ
136:	҆и тако̀ ҆ѡпрости́ го цр҃ь бꙋ́ро	And thus King Buro forgave him.
137:	҆и ҆ꙋзе мꙋ ми́лꙋ сестрꙋ за же́нꙋ се́бе	And he took his beloved sister for a wife for himself.
138:	҆á коли́ко то́пове бе́ше при́готви́ль	But how many guns he had prepared!
139:	ни бро̀й ҆имаше	There was no count (of it)!
140:	҆и све по́врьнꙋ назáть ѿ какво́ се предáде ҆емꙋ цр҃ь костáн͛ди́нь	And he returned all back, as Emperor Constantine gave himself over.
141:	҆и ког҆и́ се при́мири́хꙋ цр҃їе по не́колко вре́ме ди́гнꙋ се ѿ место цр҃ь костáн͛динь	And when the kings made peace, after some time Emperor Constantine rose up from (his) city.
142:	҆и пойде, дӑ йде ꙋ москови́ю да покр͒ти цр҃а бꙋ́рꙋ	And he went (lit. to go) to Muscovy to baptize King Buro.
143:	҆и пове́де по се́бе патрѝар͛си ҆и влдци ҆и попо́ве ҆и кли́рици ҆и пев͛ци	And he took with him patriarchs, and bishops, and priests, and clerics, and singers.
144:	҆и ҆ѡтидѐ цр҃ꙋ бꙋ́рꙋ ꙋ дворо́ве	And he went to the palaces of King Buro.
145:	҆и кон͛дисáхꙋ тáмо	And they made a camp there.
146:	҆и виде́ ги цр҃ь бꙋ́ро	And King Buro saw them.
147:	҆и зарадвà йм се ҆ꙗ́ко	And he rejoiced a lot about them.
148:	҆и приве́де ги, на до́мь сво́й	And he brought them to his house.
149:	҆и поче́те ги	And he paid them respect.
150:	гостѝ ги	He gave them a feast.
151:	҆и напо́й ги до́столепно как͛вото е цр҃ꙋ при́лично	And he gave them drinks, as it is appropriate for a king.
152:	҆и попитá ги	And he asked them.
153:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
154:	мо́жем ли ҆и ҆ꙗ́ да прїйдемь на вáшꙋ ве́рꙋ ҆и да бꙋ́демь брáть вáшь	ʺIs it possible for me too, to receive (lit. come to) your faith, and to become your brother?ʺ
155:	҆и цр҃ь костáнди́нь продꙋ-҆ма	And Emperor Constantine spoke.
156:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
157:	бꙋ́ди волꙗ тво҆ꙗ́, цр҃ꙋ	ʺYour will be done, o king!ʺ
158:	да тѐ покр͒тимь	ʺLet me baptize you!ʺ
159:	но не́ ймеешь цр҃ꙋ ст҃ꙋю цр҃квꙋ	ʺBut you have no holy church, o king.ʺ
160:	҆и не ҆имеешь чьстнїе ҆ико́ни	ʺAnd you have no honorable icons.ʺ
161:	҆и не е при́лїчно нáмь цр҃омь да се кр͒тиме, бе́зь цр҃квꙋ ҆и бе́зь чьстнїе ст҃и́е ҆ико́ни	ʺAnd it is not appropriate for us, kings, to get baptized without a church and without honorable, holy icons.ʺ
162:	тоги́ва питá цр҃ь бꙋ́ро цр҃а костáн͛ди́на	Then King Buro of Muscovy asked Emperor Constantine:
163:	що ѐ товà црь́ква	ʺWhat is that (thing, which you call) a church?ʺ
164:	҆и за какво́ се нари́ча, цр҃ква	ʺAnd why is it called a church?ʺ
165:	҆и за кою́ е потре́бꙋ товà що го, ви́е зове́те цр҃ква	ʺAnd for which purpose is that, what you call a church?ʺ
166:	҆á цр҃ь костáн͛ди́нь ре́че	And Emperor Constantine said:
167:	҆ѡ цр҃ꙋ брáте мо́й то-ва що сѐ зове́ цр҃ква ҆ѡнà про-све́тва чл҃ве́ци	ʺO king, my brother, that, what is called a church, it enlightens people.ʺ
168:	цр҃ква прово́ди чло́ве́ци ҆ꙋ рáи бж҃їи	ʺA church brings people to the Paradise of God.ʺ
169:	цр҃ква вьвѡ́ди чл҃ве́ци ꙋ цр͒тво нб͒ное	ʺA church brings people to the Kingdom of Heaven.ʺ
170:	цр҃ква се зо́ве до́мь бж҃їй	ʺA church is called a house of God.ʺ
171:	тако́ рече цр҃ь костан͛ди́нь цр҃ꙋ моско́вскомꙋ	Thus spoke Emperor Constantine to the king of Muscovy.
172:	ӥ то҆ꙗ́ чáсь ре́че цр҃ь бꙋ́ро	And in that moment King Buro said:
173:	ско́ро цр҃квꙋ да мѝ напрáвите	ʺMay you make me a church soon!ʺ
174:	҆и до́йдо́хꙋ мáйстори	And builders came.
175:	҆и загрáди́хꙋ црь́квꙋ ѕе́лѡ вели́ка	And they built a very large church.
176:	҆и подписáха ю сáсь ст҃ие ҆ѡбрáзи	And they painted (?) it with holy pictures.
177:	҆и соврьши́ха ю хꙋ́баво ле́по ҆и чьстно̀	And they finished it nicely, well, and honorably.
178:	҆и вле́зохꙋ ꙋ цр҃квꙋ ҆ѡба цр҃а	And the both kings entered the church,
	҆и патри́ар͛си ҆и влади́ци ҆и попо́ве ҆и кли́рици и певци	and (with them) the patriarchs, and bishops, and priests, and clerics, and singers.
179:	҆и поче́хꙋ да че́тꙋт ст҃ое прáвїло да ҆ѡсве́тꙋть цр҃квꙋ	And they began to read the liturgy, so that they consecrate the church.
180:	҆и ҆ост҃и́ха ю	And they consecrated it.
181:	҆и до́йде ре́дь ҆и чáсь да дрьжꙋ́ть све́тꙋю ли́тꙋр͛ги́ю	And the turn and time came to hold the holy liturgy.
182:	҆и ре́че патриа͛рхь бл҃гослове́но цр͒тво	And the patriarch said: ʺBlessed (be) the kingdom!ʺ
183:	҆и поклони́хꙋ се ҆ѡба цр҃а сáсь лицѐ до́ земи	And the both kings bowed with faces to the ground.
184:	҆тако̀ ҆и сви́ чл҃ве́ци поклони́хꙋ се до землѝ,	And thus all the people bowed to the ground.
185:	҆и коги́ запе́хꙋ пев͛ци глáсь ҆ꙋмиле́ни чл҃векꙋ ҆и ҆ꙋмь зано́сехꙋ	And when the singers sang the loving tone, even the man's mind was carried way.
186:	такѡ́ ле́по цр҃ꙋ пе҆ехꙋ глáсь	So beautifully they sang the tone to the king.
187:	҆и цр҃ь бꙋ́ро ѿ мл͒ть ви́кнꙋ сáсь голе́мь глáсь коли́ко мо́же	And King Buro exclaimed from mercy with a strong voice, as much as he could.
188:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
189:	ѡͯ мл͒ти́ви, Бж҃е мо́й ко҆ꙗ́ е хꙋбо́сть ҆имáло ꙋ прáвослáвнꙋю ве́рꙋ хр͒ти́ан͛скꙋ	ʺO my merciful God, what beauty is there in the Orthodox Christian faith!ʺ
190:	҆и сьврьши́хꙋ ст҃ꙋю литꙋрги́ю	And they finished the holy liturgy.
191:	҆и покрь́сти́хꙋ цр҃а бꙋ́рꙋ сас во́дꙋ дх҃омь све́ти́мь	And they baptized King Buro with water (and) with Holy Spirit.
192:	҆и при́чести́ха го	And they gave him Eucharist.
193:	҆и дáдоха мꙋ нáфора	And they gave him the host.
194:	҆и като мꙋ̀ бе́ше ҆име цр҃ь бꙋ́ро	And, as his name was King Buro,
	по́сле коги́ го покр͒ти́хꙋ ѡнӥ мꙋ наре́кохꙋ ҆име цр҃ь пе́трь, моско́вски	afterwards, when they baptized him, they gave him the name King Peter of Muscovy.
195:	҆и когѝ ҆изе́де нафора та ҆á ѡ́нь пáде нá земи	And when he ate the host, he fell on the ground.
196:	҆и като чѐ ҆ѡслепѐ	And it seemed he became blind.
197:	҆и пꙋкнáхꙋ ҆емꙋ ҆и две́ те ҆о́чи́	And both of his eyes broke up.
198:	҆и ҆ꙋплаши се	And he became afraid.
199:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
200:	҆ѡ мл͒ти́ви, бж҃е добре́ си ҆ꙗ́ цр͒твꙋ́вахь по мою̀ ве́рꙋ	ʺO merciful God, I ruled well in my faith!ʺ
201:	да не бе́х͛ се покр͒ти́ль не ще́хь ҆ѡ́слепе́ти сáсь две́ те мо́й ҆о́чи	ʺIf I would have not got baptized, I would not have become blind with both of my eyes.ʺ
202:	токо товà ҆изре́че	He just said that,
203:	и то҆ꙗ́ чáсь ҆испáднꙋ ҆е́мꙋ ҆изь ҆о́чи́ те мре́жа	and in that moment a network fell from his eyes,
	като̀ ци́па лꙋ́кова	like a shell from an onion.
204:	҆и про́гледà	And he started to see (again).
205:	тоги́ва ҆емꙋ просїѧ ст҃ь	Then the light shone him through.
206:	тоги́ва видѐ сл҃н͛це ҆и месець	Then he saw the sun and the moon.
207:	тоги́ва видѐ ҆ꙗ́сни ҆и светли́ви зве́зди	Then he saw the clear and shiny stars.
208:	тоги́ва мꙋ се ѿврь́зáхꙋ ҆о́чи́	Then his eyes were unbound.
209:	҆и виде плáнини ҆и го́ри ҆и хол͛ми ҆и вс҆ꙗ́ преде́ли зе́мли	Then he saw the mountains and hills and barrows, and all the borders of the Earth.
210:	҆и ре́че	And he said:
211:	се прї҆идохь на ве́рꙋ	ʺBehold, I came to faith.ʺ
212:	҆и кр͒ти́х се са͒ во́дꙋ	ʺAnd I was baptized by water.ʺ
213:	҆и видо́хь ст҃ь ҆истини	ʺAnd I saw the real world.ʺ
214:	тáко да покр͒ти́мь ҆и ве́сь ро́дь чл҃ве́чески	ʺThus, let me baptize the whole mankind!ʺ
215:	҆и повеле́ цр҃ь пе́трь цр҃ꙋ костанди́нꙋ ҆и патри́ар͛хꙋ	And he commanded Emperor Constantine and the patriarch.
216:	҆и просвети́хꙋ водꙋ	And they consecrated water.
217:	҆и сьбра се сьвь наро́дь що бе́ше́ ꙋ цр҃ь пе́тровꙋ дрь́жáвꙋ	And all the people, who were in the kingdom of King Peter, assembled.
218:	҆и ꙋзе патри́҆áрхь чáшꙋ сре́бренꙋ	And the patriarch took a silver cup.
219:	҆и сипꙋ́ваше ҆ѡнꙋю ст҃ꙋю во́дꙋ све́комꙋ чл҃векꙋ, на глáвꙋ	And he was pouring that holy water on everyone's head.
220:	҆и тáко покр͒ти́хꙋ се моськале	And thus the Muscovites were baptized.
221:	҆и тáко во́сприꙗша всеродное кр҃щенїе вь ле́то ·цни·	And thus they received the all-national baptism in the year 958.
222:	҆и тáко погоди́ша се цр҃їе	And thus the kings made peace.
223:	҆и тако сми́ри́ша се	And thus they reconciled.
224:	҆и тако̀ се́бе постави́ша брáтꙋ брат͛ство ̉	And thus they made a brotherhood (to be to each other as) brother.
225:	и́ цр҃ꙋ цр͒тво	And (thus they gave to each other as) king (the title to?) a kingdom.
226:	҆и такои (бис)ть, ҆ꙋвере́нїе ҆и смире́нїе ҆и до́го(во)рь разꙋ́мна, цр҃ь, цр҃емь,	And thus there was conversion, reconciliation and prudent agreement of a king with a king.
227:	҆и пѡ́радѝ тѡ́ зговори́хꙋ се цр҃їе бль́гарьски да бꙋдꙋть брáтиа	And thus the kings of Bulgaria (?) made an agreement to be brothers,
	҆и свѐ ҆еди́нь род ҆и еди́нь кр͒ть ҆и ҆еднà ве́ра	and all to be of one kin, and one baptism, and one faith,
	҆и еди́нь по́сть ҆и еди́нь гд͒ь ӥıс҃сь хр͒то́сь Во слáвꙋ бж҃ию	and one fasting, and one Lord Jesus Christ, in the glory of God.
228:	҆и знáйте ҆и разꙋме́ите како̀ не мо́жеть ни ҆е́ди́нь цр҃ь ҆или крáль да побе́ди ҆и да надви́е, цр҃ꙋ моско́вскомꙋ	And do know and understand, that no king or emperor can defeat the king of Muscovy.
229:	҆и сви́ те ве́ри, бою́т се ѿ москáла	And all the faiths fear the Muscovite.
230:	защо̀ моско́вь ҆имат си́ла сáсь чт͒нѝ кр͒ть гд͒нь	Because Moscow has the power of (lit. with) the True Cross of the Lord.
231:	то́го рáди побе́два ҆и надви́ва на сви́ те ве́ри	That is why it is defeating all the faiths.
232:	защо̀ ҆и сáмь гд͒ь бг҃ь тáко ре́че	Because even the Lord God Himself thus said,
	да ймать москáле, с҆ила ѿ сави́ше	so that Muscovites have the power from above,
	҆и да поко́рать сви те ве́ри ҆и езични́ци по́дь свою̀ вла͒(ст)	and so that they defeat all the faiths and heathens under their rule.
233:	защо москáле загради́хꙋ цр҃кв(...) мо́насти́ри	Because Muscovites built churches (and) monasteries.
234:	҆и мо́лать бг҃а (непре)стáно	And they pray to God ceaselessly.
235:	зато̀ ҆имь бг҃ь помáга	That is why God helps them.
236:	тако́ ҆и за нáсь мо́лать бг҃а москáле	Thus also the Muscovites pray God for us.
237:	҆и тáко говѡрꙋть	And they speak thus:
238:	гд͒и ꙋслиши моле́нїе нáше	O Lord, hear our prayers!
239:	҆и избавѝ ро́дь нáшь гд͒и ҆избавѝ ҆из рꙋки сꙋпроти́вникомь нáшимь ҆áгар҆ꙗ́номь проклетимь	And save our kin, o Lord, from the hands of our enemy, the accursed Hagarenes!
240:	заврьзáни да бꙋть до́ века	May they will be bound forever!
241:	то́мꙋ пе́трꙋ цр҃ꙋ слáва ҆и похвала.	Glory (be) and praise to this King Peter!
