2: toi crъ aleѯanъdria kogi dignu voisku da se bie sasъ grъci i bi se za mnogo vreme That King Alexander, when he raised an army to fight Greeks, he fought for a long time.
3: i kogi izleze ot dom svoi And when he went out of his home,
i otide na voisku and went to war,
i ne vrъnu se vъ domъ svoi četiri desetъ leta he did not return home for forty years.
4: sve xodi i bieše se neprestano He was just ceaselessly going on and fighting.
5: i kade udareše sasъ božiemъ poveleniemъ sve e nadvivalъ And wherever he was attacking, he was victorious.
6: i nikakvo ne prestajaše ot boi And he was not stopping the fight in any way.
7: sve bieše voinъstvo He just beat the army.
8: i vidoxu slugi negovi što mu beše xlebarъ i axъčia i vinočerpatelъ And thus his servants saw it - (those,) who were his baker, his cook, and his cupbearer.
9: i dogovorixu se troica ta da otrovatъ cra aleѯanъdriju And the three of them agreed to poison King Alexander.
10: zašto imъ beše dosadilo xodene sveku godinu da xodatъ sasъ cra na boi Because they had been annoyed by the journeys, going each year with the king to fight.
11: i zaradi to se dogovorixu troica ta da otrovatъ cra And for that (reason) the three of them agreed to poison the king,
da umre dano bi se raznela voiska ta so that he would die, so that the army will be dispersed (?),
i oni da se priberutъ na domъ svoi and so they would return home.
12: i otidoxu u edinъ gradъ And they went into a city.
13: i konъdisa crъ na krai gradъ And the king made camp at the edge of the city.
14: i vidoxu onię tri slugi crevi edno drъvo dudovo zeleno i xubavo izgodno And those three servants of the king saw a mulberry tree, green and pretty, a nice one.
15: i raspexu cru čadъrъ podъ onova drъvo And they spread a tent for the king beneath the tree.
16: i sede crъ podъ čadъro na senъkju And the king sat down beneath the tent into shadow.
17: i priide vreme da ede xlebъ And the time came to eat bread.
18: a onię tri slugi crevi mislexu kakvo da imъ prilegne da otrovatъ cra And the three servants of the king thought, how they could get an opportunity to poison the king.
19: i edinъ ot nixъ And one of them,
štoto služeše vino sasъ čašu cru na trъpezu who served wine to the king with a cup at a table,
i onъ se čudeše kakvo cra da otrovi he, too, wondered, how to poison the king,
da bi umrelъ so that he would die,
da si idutъ sveki na domъ svoi so that everyone would go to his home.
20: zašto imъ beše mlogo dosadilo zamanъ krъvoprolitie Because the endless bloodshed became very annoying to them.
21: i uze sluga creva otrovu And the servant of the king took the poison.
22: i namaza na onova drъvo dudovo edinъ listъ sasъ otrovu And he smeared the poison on the mulberry tree, on one leaf.
23: i donesoxu cru xlebъ i gozba And they brought bread and (other?) food to the king.
24: i poče crъ da ede And the king began to eat.
25: i onъja sluga nalja cru čašu vino And that servant poured a cup of wine to the king.
26: i božemъ reče kato če se e nekakъ naprašila čaša And he suddenly (?) said, that the cup is somewhat dusted.
27: i segnu sasъ ruku gore na drъvo to And he reached with hand upwards to the tree.
28: i otkinu onja listъ štoto beše namazanъ sasъ otrovu And he plucked the leaf, which had been smeared with poison.
29: i brъknu sasъ listo u čaša ta božemъ And he dipped the leaf into the cup at once,
kato če šte da izvadi rusъ sasъ listo isъ čaša ta as if to remove the dust with the leaf from the cup.
30: i omi listo sasъ otrova ta u čaša ta And he washed the leaf with the poison in the cup.
31: i dade cru And he gave (it) to the king.
32: i napi se crъ And the king drank.
33: i po nekoi časъ fanu crъ da se meta And after some time, the king began to jitter.
34: i poče da se trъška And he began to throw himself to the ground.
35: i primučne mu zle And it became very torturing for him.
36: i priide čas samrъtni šte da umre crъ And the time of death came: The king will die.
37: i zbraxu se skoro svi vezire crevi And all the viziers of the king assembled soon.
38: i zbraxu se svi boljare i svi knezove And all the boyars assembled, and all the princes,
i svi voevodi i svi kadii i sve voinstvo crevo and all the commanders, and all the judges, and all the king's soldiers,
da vidutъ kakva bi taja rabota to see, what was that, what happened.
39: i dogde oni da se zberut da vidutъ i crъ umre And until they could assemble to see (what happened), the king died.
40: a onię vezire rekoxu And those viziers said:
41: skoro rasporete edna mъska da obložimo cra dano ne bi umrelъ ʺQuickly tear up a mule to put it around the king, so that he would not die!ʺ

46: i tako skonъča crъ aleѯandria dšu svoju u toi vreme And thus, in that time, King Alexander ended his soul (i.e. died).
47: predъ samrъtъ crevu tri četiri dni konъ crevъ što go samъ crъ jazdeše onъ toko cvili The king's horse, on whom the king himself was riding three (or) four days before his death, he only neighed.
48: i kopae sasъ noze And he kicked with his legs.
49: i izъ oči te mu slъzi tečexu kato gradъ And from his eyes tears were flowing like a hailstorm.
50: i cvili And he neighed.
51: i kopae And he kicked.
52: i plače konъ za svoego gospodina And the horse cries for his lord.
53: i umaraša se konъ ot žalostъ And the horse was getting tired of sorrow.
54: i reče vezirъ And the vizier said:
55: ela puštete i otvrъžete konъ crevъ ʺGo (and) release and unbind the horse,ʺ
da vidimo dali šte stori konъ nekoę čudesa ili nekoe znamenie ʺso that we see, if the horse will do some miracle or some sign!ʺ
56: i priidoxu človeci And people came.
57: i otvrъzaxu i puštixu konja And they released and unbound the horse.
58: a onъ siromaxъ konъ kakvo se strašno pribrъzi nizъ onaja silna voiska And, the poor horse, how terribly he galloped down through that mighty army!
59: i kakvo li strašno cvileše And how terribly he neighed!
60: i kakvi krъvavi slъzi izъ oči te si roneše And how bloody tears did he shed from his eyes!
61: i kakvo strašno svoi mesa xapeše And how terribly did he bite his flesh! (?)
62: i trъči And he ran.
63: i cvili And he neighed.
64: i gleda da naide togova človeka štoto cra otrovi And he looked around, to find the man, who poisoned the king.
65: konъ trъčeše The horse ran.
66: i tražeše And he searched.
67: a voiska se rastupaše And the army was stepping aside.
68: i naide konъ dušmanina creva vinočerpatelja And after some time, the king began to jitter.
69: i fana go go sasъ zubi And he caught him with the teeth.
70: i sve mu mesa ta sasъ zubi sjade And he bite all of his flesh with the teeth.
71: i svi mu kosti i stavi sasъ noze stroši radi svoego gospodina cra aaleѯanъdriju And he broke all of his bones and joints because of his master, king Alexander.
72: tako skonča i crevъ vinočerpatelъ dšu svoju zlobidno Thus also the king's cupbearer badly ended his life.
73: tako napisaxu vezire aleѯanъdrovi Thus the viziers of Alexander wrote.
74: tova čudo preslavnoe radi znamenie i pofala crъskaja This famous miracle (happened) for a sign and praise of the king.
75: takovъ konecъ prie crъ aleѯanъdria Such an end King Alexander received.
76: i to estъ emu slava i čestъ crkaę And that is his royal glory and honor.
