| 5: | i vъsa konъčno isprъvo četali po latinъski ezikъ | And they all read first in Latin language, |
| kako da su sasъ latini edinъ rodъ i ezikъ | in order to be one one nation and language with the Latins. | |
| 6: | sti ѳeofilaktъ podvignalъ cra jasena | St. Theophylact incited Emperor Asen. |
| 7: | i prišlъ na vlaxija | And he came to Wallachia. |
| 8: | i pokorilъ obe vlaxii pod svoju vlastъ | And he subdued both Wallachias under his power. |
| 9: | i zapretilъ vlaxomъ koi četitъ po latinъski ezikъ i ispoveduetъ rimъska vera da mu se otrežetъ ezikъ | And he commanded (lit. forbade) the Wallachians to cut off the tongue of those, who read in Latin and confess Roman faith. |
| 10: | i povelelъ imъ da četutъ po slavenъski ezikъ i da drъžutъ pravoslavnuju veru | And he commanded them to read in Slavic language and uphold the Orthodox faith. |
| 11: | tako ot toi vreme vlasi obratili se na pravoslavie i četali po slavenski | Thus, from that time, Wallachians converted to Orthodoxy and read in Slavic. |
| 12: | do skoro paki izvadili imъ rusii na vlaški ezikъ | Recently (?), Russians published (?) for them (the Scriptures?) in Wallachian language. |

| 20: | i sъbrali voiska mlogo | And they assembled a lot of troops. |
| 21: | i pošli na jasena cra | And they went against Emperor Asen. |
| 22: | i ne moželъ jasenъ da nadvie grъkomъ | And Asen could not defeat the Greeks. |
| 23: | i prešъlъ dunavъ u vlaxiju sasъ sva ta si voiska | And he crossed Danube to Wallachia with all of his troops. |
| 24: | i sъbralъ tamo voiska mlogo | And he collected a lot of troops there. |
| 25: | i paki prešlъ dunovъ | And he crossed Danube again. |
| 26: | i obratil se na grъci | And he turned against Greeks. |
| 27: | i bilo branъ strašno | And there was a terrible battle. |
| 28: | voiska bez čislo grъčeskaja i blъgarъskaja | A countless army of Greeks and Bulgars! |
| 29: | i udarili se | And they clashed. |
| 30: | i padla voiska grъčeskaja bezъčislъna ot blъgarovъ posečeni i pobieni | And the countless Greek army fell, beaten and slaughtered by Bulgars. |
| 31: | tako nadvilъ jasenъ na grъci | Thus Asen defeated the Greeks. |

| 55: | i pobeglъ crъ aleѯia | And Emperor Alexius ran away. |
| 56: | i kolъko e srъčano begalъ | And how heartily did he run! |
| 57: | dorъ e padnulъ emu šlemъ crski ot glavu | Even his royal helmet fell from his head! |
| 58: | a blъgarъski voini uzeli oni šlemъ | And Bulgarian warriors took that helmet. |
| 59: | i prineli go svoemu cru jasenu | And they brought it to their Emperor Asen. |
| 60: | tako paki nadvili blъgare na grъci | Thus, again, Bulgars defeated the Greeks. |
| 61: | i uzelъ vъ to vreme crъ jasenъ mnogo gradove ot grъci | And that time Emperor Asen took many cities from Greeks. |
| 62: | paki vtori putъ crъ aleѯia sъbralъ mnogo voiska | Again, for the second time, Emperor Alexius took a lot of troops. |
| 63: | i pratilъ na jasena straxota silъna i velika i konstanъdinъ i načalъnici | And he sent against Asen a great and powerful terror (?), and Constantine and (his) generals (?) |
| 64: | mnogo voiska bila i generali grъčeskia i voevodi i knezove i župъne | There were a lot of troops, and Greek generals, and commanders, and princes, and zhupans. |
| 65: | i bila voiska *#so* xiliadi | And the army was (of) 270 thousand (men). |
| 66: | no popušteniemъ bžiemъ pobili gi blъgari | But, by the will of God, Bulgars defeated them. |
| 67: | i porobili | And they subdued (them). |
| 68: | i ne povrъnul se ni edinъ načalnikъ pri cra aleѯiju | And not a single commander returned to Emperor Alexius. |
| 69: | toliko e bilo ne izrečeno krъvoprolitie | There was such an unspeakable bloodshed. |
| 70: | kogi ču crъ aleѯi toliko se izbila voiska | When Emperor Alexius heard, how many troops were destroyed, |
| uplaši se strašno i tvrъde źle | he was terribly and very badly scared. | |
| 71: | i prati negovi člveci da sakatъ mirъ ot cra jasena | And he sent his men to sue Emperor Asen for peace. |
| 72: | no ne polučilъ | But he did not receive (the peace). |
| 73: | onъ paki treti putъ pratilъ voiska na jasena cra | He sent, again, for the third time, an army against Emperor Asen. |
| 74: | nъ mnogo puti mu nadvivalъ jasenъ crъ | But Emperor Asen was defeating him many times. |
| 75: | nъ paki aleѯia crъ pratilъ četverta voiska na jasena sasъ nekoego genarala iisaka stokratora | But Emperor Alexius sent a fourth army against Asen, with some general Isaac (Seba)stocrator. |
| 76: | toi isakъ pogubilъ tri xiljadi bolъgari | That Isaac killed three thousand Bulgars. |
| 77: | posle ufatili blъgari cra aleѯiju | Afterwards, Bulgars captured Emperor Alexius. |
| 78: | i obtekli svu voisku grъčeskoju | And they surrounded the whole Greek army. |
| 79: | tako gi isъsekli i porobili | Thus they mowed them down and captured. |
| 80: | malo nešto ot nixъ pobegli | A few of them ran away. |
| 81: | tako ostala zemlъja pusta grъčeskaę̀ bezъ voinъstvo | Thus the Greek land remained deserted, without army. |
| 82: | tako grъci i sami čislat po istinu i po pravdu | The Greeks themselves thus count (their losses), in truth and justice: |
| 83: | tri sta xiljadi voiska pogibla grъčeskaja ot blъgari izbiena i porobena | Three hundred thousand Greek troops were slaughtered and captured by Bulgars. |
| 84: | tako imъ otmъstil samъ crъ cremъ grъčeskimъ vъ to vreme | Thus, in that time, made the emperor his revenge against Greek emperors. |
| 85: | zašto oni isprъvo mnogo pakostъ činili blъgaromъ | Because they first did a lot of evil to Bulgars. |
| 86: | no imъ se vozvratilo sugubo otmъštenie | But a double revenge was returned to them. |
| 87: | ne veruvali kako crъ jasenъ bžiemъ poveleniemъ bilъ postavlenъ crъ blъgarom | They did not believe, that Emperor Asen by the will of God was installed as an Emperor of Bulgaria. |

| 92: | i tako za *n* godini neprestano branъ činili grъci sasъ jasena cra dogde pogubili sve svoe voinъstvo | And thus, the Greeks were constantly battling Asen for 50 years, until they lost all their army. |
| 93: | i obništalo crstvo nixno | And their kingdom was impoverished. |
| 94: | posle se pokorilъ crъ aleѯia asenu cru velikomu | Then Emperor Alexius submitted to Asen, the great emperor. |
| 95: | i danokъ davalъ dokle crtvuvalъ jasen crъ bolъgarski | And he was paying tax, as long as Asen, Emperor of Bulgaria, reigned. |
| 96: | i premnogo danokъ uzimalъ ot cri grъčeskia | And he took an immense amount of tax from Greek emperors. |
| 97: | i tako prestali grъci i blъgare boi da ne bijutъ | And thus Greeks and Bulgars stopped the fight, so that they won't fight (again?) |
| 98: | pokorilъ gi jasenъ podъ svoju vlastъ | Asen subdued them under his might. |
| 99: | i tako se proslavilъ na zemli | And thus he became famous on the Earth. |
| 100: | zašto mnogo kralove i crove pokorilъ | Because he subdued many kings and emperors. |
| 101: | zato se nareklъ crъ vъselenъski | Thus he was called an Emperor of the Universe. |
| 102: | zašto imalъ sebe kesari rimъskie danici | Because he had Roman caesars as his taxpayers. |
| 103: | i drugi mnogo kralove pokorilъ jasenъ podъ svoju vlastъ | And Asen subdued many other kings under his might. |
| 104: | tako imalъ sti mužie i patriarъxi | Thus he had holy men and patriarchs (around himself?) |
| 105: | i poslušvalъ ixъ pokorъno | And he listened to them humbly. |
| 106: | i oni nego postavljali na velikia dobrodeteli | And they led him to a great virtue. |
