| 4: | takò ʾi vláxïa bilì priéli rim͛ska ʾerésь | Thus also Wallachia had accepted the Roman heresy. |
| 5: | ʾi vьsa konь´čno ʾisprь´vo četàli po látin͛ski ʾezíkь | And they all read first in Latin language, |
| kakò da sù sásь, latíni ʾedínь ródь ʾi ezíkь, | in order to be one one nation and language with the Latins. | |
| 6: | St̃ì ѳeʾwfiláktь podvignálь, cr̃a ʾjáséna | St. Theophylact incited Emperor Asen. |
| 7: | ʾi príšlь na vlaxíja | And he came to Wallachia. |
| 8: | ʾi pokorílь ʾw´be vlaxïĭ pod svojù vlástь | And he subdued both Wallachias under his power. |
| 9: | ʾi zapretílь vláxomь kóĭ četítь po latin͛ski ʾezíkь ʾi ʾispóvedúetь rim͛ska véra da mu sè wtréžetь ʾezíkь | And he commanded (lit. forbade) the Wallachians to cut off the tongue of those, who read in Latin and confess Roman faith. |

| 20: | ʾi sьbráli vóĭska mlógo | And they assembled a lot of troops. |
| 21: | ʾi pošlì, na ʾjáséna cr̃a | And they went against Emperor Asen. |
| 22: | ʾi ne možélь ʾjásenь da nadvíe grь´komь | And Asen could not defeat the Greeks. |
| 23: | ʾi preš͛lь dunavь ʾu vlaxíju sásь svá ta si vòĭskà | And he crossed Danube to Wallachia with all of his troops. |
| 24: | ʾi sьbrálь támo vòĭska mlogo | And he collected a lot of troops there. |
| 25: | ʾi páki prešlь´ dúnovь | And he crossed Danube again. |
| 26: | ʾi wbratíl se na grь´ci | And he turned against Greeks. |
| 27: | ʾi biló bránь strášno | And there was a terrible battle. |
| 28: | vóĭska bez číslo grьčeskaja ʾi blьgar͛skaʾjá | A countless army of Greeks and Bulgars! |
| 29: | ʾi udaríli se | And they clashed. |
| 30: | ʾi pádla voĭska grь´českaʾjá bezьčíslьna wt blьgárovь posečéni ʾi pobíeni | And the countless Greek army fell, beaten and slaughtered by Bulgars. |
| 31: | takò nadvilь ʾjásenь na grь´ci | Thus Asen defeated the Greeks. |

| 33: | ʾi wtkarál gi wt zémli blьgar͛skía | And he expelled them from the land of Bulgaria. |

| 36: | ʾi bilì srьbʾjá nékoliko vreme pódь vlástiju ʾjásénovu | And the Serbs were for some time under the power of Asen. |

| 45: | ʾi zarádì mnógoe krь´voprolítïe wtkaral͛ gi cr̃ь ʾjásénь srьbïe ʾi grь´ci wt blьgaríju | And because (?) a lot of bloodshed, Emperor Asen expelled Serbs and Greeks from Bulgaria. |

| 47: | Páki cr̃ь grь´česki ʾiwʾanь katàkuzímь prišélь na cr̃a ʾjáséna sásь velíka vóĭska | Again, Greek Emperor John Kantakuzenos came against Emperor Asen with a great army. |
| 48: | no cr̃ь ʾjásen nadvílь ʾemu | But Emperor Asen defeated him. |
| 49: | ʾi fatílь cr̃a ʾiʾwʾana | And he captured Emperor John. |
| 50: | ʾi ʾizbólь ʾemu ʾwčì, | And he pulled his eyes out. |
| 51: | Po ʾiʾwana vьstálь cr̃ь grьčeski ʾáléѯia | After John, Greek Emperor Alexius rose up. |
| 52: | ʾi ʾwnь sьbralь vóʾiska wt mnógo ʾezíci | And he assembled an army from many nations. |
| 53: | ʾi pošélь nà blьgárïju | And he went against Bulgaria. |
| 54: | kogì počéli da sé bijat nadvíli blь´gare grь´komь | When they began to fight, Bulgars defeated the Greeks. |
| 55: | ʾi pobéglь cr̃ь ʾáléѯià | And Emperor Alexius ran away. |
| 56: | ʾi kol͛ko e srьčano begálь | And how heartily did he run! |
| 57: | dorь e͒ pádnulь ʾemu šlémь cr̃ski wt glávu | Even his royal helmet fell from his head! |
| 58: | ʾá blьgar͛ski vóĭni uzéli ʾwni šlémь | And Bulgarian warriors took that helmet. |
| 59: | ʾi prinéli go svóemu cr̃u ʾjásénu, | And they brought it to their Emperor Asen. |
| 60: | táko páki nadvíli blь´gare na grь´ci | Thus, again, Bulgars defeated the Greeks. |
| 61: | ʾi uzélь vь to vréme cr͂ь ʾjásenь mnógo grádove wt grь´ci | And that time Emperor Asen took many cities from Greeks. |
| 62: | páki vtóri putь cr̃ь ʾáléѯia sьbrálь mnógo vóĭska | Again, for the second time, Emperor Alexius took a lot of troops. |
| 63: | ʾi prátílь na ʾjáséna stráxota síl͛na ʾi velíka ʾi ʾkonstan͛dínь ʾi načálьnici | And he sent against Asen a great and powerful terror (?), and Constantine and (his) generals (?) |
| 64: | mnógo vóĭska bilà ʾi genèráli grь´českïa ʾi voevódi ʾi knézove ʾi župь´ne | There were a lot of troops, and Greek generals, and commanders, and princes, and zhupans. |

| 66: | no popušténïemь, bž̃ïemь pobíli gi blь`gari | But, by the will of God, Bulgars defeated them. |
| 67: | ʾi pw´róbíli, | And they subdued (them). |
| 68: | ʾi ne povrьnúl se nï edínь načálníkь pri cr͂a ʾáléѯiju | And not a single commander returned to Emperor Alexius. |
| 69: | tolíko e bilò né izrečéno krьvoprólïtie | There was such an unspeakable bloodshed. |
| 70: | kogì ču cr̃ь ʾáléѯi tolíko se ʾizbíla vóĭska | When Emperor Alexius heard, how many troops were destroyed, |
| ʾupláši se strášno ʾi tvrь´de źlè | he was terribly and very badly scared. | |
| 71: | ʾi pratí négóvì čl͂veci da sákatь mírь wt cr̃a ʾjáséna | And he sent his men to sue Emperor Asen for peace. |
| 72: | no ne polučílь, | But he did not receive (the peace). |
| 73: | ʾWʾnь páki tréti pútь pratílь voĭska na ʾjáséna cr̃a | He sent, again, for the third time, an army against Emperor Asen. |
| 74: | nь mnógo púti mu nadvívalь ʾjásénь cr̃ь | But Emperor Asen was defeating him many times. |
| 75: | nь páki ʾáléѯia cr̃ь pratílь četverta vóĭska na ʾjásena sásь nékoegw genárala ïisàka stokrátora | But Emperor Alexius sent a fourth army against Asen, with some general Isaac (Seba)stocrator. |
| 76: | tóĭ ʾisákь pogubílь, trì, xílʾjadi bol͛gari | That Isaac killed three thousand Bulgars. |

| 82: | takò grь´ci ʾi sámi čislat pó ĭstinu ʾi po právdu | The Greeks themselves thus count (their losses), in truth and justice: |
| 83: | trí sta xíljadi vóĭska pogíbla grьčéskaja wt blь´gari ʾizbíena ʾi poróbena | Three hundred thousand Greek troops were slaughtered and captured by Bulgars. |
| 84: | táko ʾimь wtmьstil sámь cr̃ь cr̃emь grь´českimь vь to vréme | Thus, in that time, made the emperor his revenge against Greek emperors. |
| 85: | zaštò ʾwnì ʾisprь´vo, mnógo pákostь činíli blь´garomь | Because they first did a lot of evil to Bulgars. |
| 86: | no ĭm͛ se vozvratílo sugúbo wtmьšténïe | But a double revenge was returned to them. |
| 87: | né veruváli kako, Cr̃ь ʾjásénь bž͂ïemь póveléniemь bilь postávlénь cr̃ь blь´garwm | They did not believe, that Emperor Asen by the will of God was installed as an Emperor of Bulgaria. |
| 88: | nь´ se rugáli ʾemu | But they blasphemed against him. |
| 89: | ʾi digali vois͛ku tolíko puti na négo | And they were raising armies so many times against him. |
| 90: | ʾá wn͛ níkáko ne ĭšelь na níxь | But he did not go against them in any way. |
| 91: | no kogi príxoždáli na négo ʾwnь s pw´moštiju bž͂ïju nadvíválь ʾimь, krépko | But as they were coming against him, he was defeated them staunchly with the help of God. |
| 92: | ʾi táko za *n* gódinì neprestáno bránь činíli grьci sasь ʾjásena cr̃a dogdè pogubíli svè svoè voĭnьstvw´ | And thus, the Greeks were constantly battling Asen for 50 years, until they lost all their army. |
| 93: | ʾi ʾwbništálo cr̃stvo níxno | And their kingdom was impoverished. |
| 94: | posle se pokorílь cr̃ь ʾaléѯia ʾásénu cr̃u velíkomu | Then Emperor Alexius submitted to Asen, the great emperor. |
| 95: | ʾi danokь daválь doklè cr͒tvuvalь ʾjásen Cr̃ь bol͛garski | And he was paying tax, as long as Asen, Emperor of Bulgaria, reigned. |
| 96: | ʾi prèmnógo danokь uzimálь wt cr̃i grь´českïa | And he took an immense amount of tax from Greek emperors. |
| 97: | ʾi táko prestáli grь´ci ʾi blьgare bóĭ da nè bíjutь | And thus Greeks and Bulgars stopped the fight, so that they won't fight (again?) |
| 98: | pokorílь gi ʾjásénь pódь svojù vlástь | Asen subdued them under his might. |
| 99: | ʾi takó se proslávilь na zemlì | And thus he became famous on the Earth. |
| 100: | zašto mnógo králwve ʾi cr͂ove pokorìlь | Because he subdued many kings and emperors. |
| 101: | zató se naréklь cr̃ь vьselen͛ski | Thus he was called an Emperor of the Universe. |
| 102: | zašto ʾimálь sébe kesári rim͛skïe daníci | Because he had Roman caesars as his taxpayers. |
| 103: | ʾi drugi mnógo králwve pokorílь ʾjásénь pódь svojù vlástь | And Asen subdued many other kings under his might. |
| 104: | táko ʾimálь st̃i múžie ʾi patríărьxi | Thus he had holy men and patriarchs (around himself?) |
| 105: | ʾi poslušvalь ʾixь pokor͛nw | And he listened to them humbly. |
| 106: | ʾi wnì nego postavlʾjáli na vélíkia dobrodételi | And they led him to a great virtue. |
