1: [===] azъ popa puno ot selo mokrešъ napisaxъ siju istoriju izvestno radi kralove i crove [Foreword] I, Priest Puno from the village of Mokreš, wrote this chronicle about kings and emperors,
kako su se bili blъgare i grъci how the Bulgars and Greeks had fought,
i posle ottъvnaxu turci carstvo blъgarъskoe vъ leto *#ato* and (how) afterwards the Turks took the Kingdom of Bulgaria in the year 1370.

3: izvoleniemъ oca s pospešeniemъ sna i sovrъšeniemъ stago dxa i sapisaxъ i privedoxъ vъsačeskaja By the will of the Father, with help of the Son, and by the perfection of Holy Spirit, I wrote down and brought forth all (of this).
4: i azъ smireni i grešni gdu pospešstvujušte mi spisaxъ siju istoricu slavenobolъgarъskoju And I, humble and sinful, while the Lord was helping me, wrote down this Slavenobulgarian Chronicle.
5: i drugi mnogi skazanija i čudesa inija radi stiteli proizvedoxъ ot prologъ crki And I took many other legends and (stories about) miracles about saints from the Royal Prologue,
radi prosti ljudie da razumejutъ silu na slovo gdne čto govorit for the simple people, so that they understand the power of the Word of the Lord, what it says.
6: i napisaxъ sia slovesa vъ obidno selo mokrešъ čto estъ va vidinsku eparxiju And I wrote these words in the poor village of Mokreš, which lays in the Eparchy of Vidin.
7: poneže bex u selo mokrešъ For I was (living?) in the village of Mokreš.
8: i otъčestvo moe beše tamo And my fatherland was there.
9: izbranoe slovo ot različni knigъ istorii i prologъ i margaritъ vъsa savakupixъ zaedno na edino mesto jakože obretoxъ I collected selected text(s) from various books - chronicles, Prologue, Margarit - all on one place, as I have found them.
10: tako i napisaxъ And thus I wrote it down.
11: togda bexъ azъ *na* leto I was 51 years (old) then.
12: i vъ sštenъstvo bexъ do toi godъ sedmъ na deseto letenъ And in that year I was for the seventeenth year (?) in priesthood.
13: i ot mnogo želanie potrudix se And I worked hard from the lot of desire.
14: i prepisaxъ ju da ju imeemъ And I transcribed it, so that I have it.
15: poneže mnogaždi videxъ i uslišax kako ukorajutъ nasъ srъbie i grъci Because I have seen and heard many times, how Serbs and Greeks deride us.
16: zašto ne imeemъ svoja istoria zaedno sovakuplena za crie blъgarъski i stixъ Because we don't have a chronicle collected together about emperors of Bulgaria and saints,
što bili prežde crtvuvali i stili se ot nixъ who were ruling before, and who were sanctified by them.
17: togo radi želaniemъ vozželexъ po svoego roda blъgarъskago For that reason, I was overcome with desire for my Bulgarian kin.
18: i prepisaxъ ju da se ne izъgubitъ And I rewrote it, so that it does not perish.
19: vi že oci i bratia koi četite ili želaete prepisati And you, o fathers and brothers, who read or want to rewrite (this),
ašte čto obreštete pogrešeno ispravete if you find anything faulty, correct it!
20: i blgoslovite mene grešnago And bless me!
21: a ne klъnete And do not curse me!
22: zašto ne pisa anggelъ gdnъ Because an angel of God did not write (this).
23: no pisa ruka grešna člvečeska But a sinful human hand wrote.
24: o vsemltive gdi soxrani me vldko vsesilne ot vsakago grexa i źlobi O most merciful Lord, save me, o most powerful ruler, from all the sin and anger!
25: sobljudi ne skverъna i neporočna ot vsękię prokazi protivnago diavola Preserve (me) untainted and unrotten by all the kinds of leprosy of the hostile Devil!
26: i daždъ mi gdi služiti tebe vъ prepodobii i pravde do poslednęgo dne i časa i skonъčanię moego And grant me, o Lord, to serve you in sainthood and justice until the last day, and hour, and (until) my end!
27: ti bo esi bgъ moi For you are my God.
