| 1: | [===] ҆азь по́па пꙋно ѿ село̀ мо́крешь написáхь сїю ҆истори́ю ҆изве́стно радѝ крáлѡве ҆и цр҃ове | [Foreword] I, Priest Puno from the village of Mokreš, wrote this chronicle about kings and emperors, |
| како сꙋ се би́ли бльгаре ҆и грьци, | how the Bulgars and Greeks had fought, | |
| ҆и после ѿтьвнáхꙋ тꙋрци царство бль́гар͛ское вь лето ·҂ато· | and (how) afterwards the Turks took the Kingdom of Bulgaria in the year 1370. | |
| 2: | [зри́] | [Sidenote] Behold! |
| 3: | ҆Изволе́нїемь ҆о́ц҃а с поспеше́-нїемь сн҃а ҆и соврьше́нїемь ст҃аго дх҃а ҆и саписáхь ҆и приве́дохь вьсаческа҆ꙗ́ | By the will of the Father, with help of the Son, and by the perfection of Holy Spirit, I wrote down and brought forth all (of this). |
| 4: | [҆и] азь смире́ни ҆и гре́шни гд͒ꙋ поспе́шствꙋ́юще мѝ списáхь сїю ҆истори́цꙋ славе́нобол͛гарьскою | And I, humble and sinful, while the Lord was helping me, wrote down this Slavenobulgarian Chronicle. |
| 5: | ҆и дрꙋги мно́ги сказáнїꙗ ҆и чꙋдесà ҆инї҆ꙗ́ рáди ст҃ителѝ, произве́дохь ѿ проло́гь цр͒ки́ | And I took many other legends and (stories about) miracles about saints from the Royal Prologue, |
| ради про́сти лю́дїе да разꙋме́ють си́лꙋ на сло́во гд͒не что̀ говорит | for the simple people, so that they understand the power of the Word of the Lord, what it says. | |
| 6: | ҆и написáхь сїа словесà вь ҆ѡбидно село мо́крешь что̀ есть ва види́нскꙋ ҆епархїю | And I wrote these words in the poor village of Mokreš, which lays in the Eparchy of Vidin. |
| 7: | понеже бех ꙋ село̀ мо́крешь | For I was (living?) in the village of Mokreš. |
| 8: | ҆и ҆ѿьчество, мое бе́ше тáмо | And my fatherland was there. |
| 9: | ҆избрáное сло́во ѿ разли́чни кни́гь ҆исторїй ҆и проло́гь ҆и маргари́ть вьс҆а савакꙋпихь зае́дно на еди́но место ҆ꙗ́коже ҆ѡбрето́хь | I collected selected text(s) from various books - chronicles, Prologue, Margarit - all on one place, as I have found them. |
| 10: | тако̀ ҆и написáхь | And thus I wrote it down. |
| 11: | тогдà бе́хь ҆áзь ·на· ле́то | I was 51 years (old) then. |
| 12: | ҆и вь сш҃тен͛ство бе́хь до тои го́дь, седмь нá десето ле́тень, | And in that year I was for the seventeenth year (?) in priesthood. |
| 13: | ҆и ѿ много желанїе потрꙋдих се | And I worked hard from the lot of desire. |
| 14: | ҆и преписáхь ю да ю̀ ҆име́емь | And I transcribed it, so that I have it. |
| 15: | поне́же многáжди виде́хь ҆и ꙋслишах како ꙋкорáють нáсь срьбїе ҆и грьци | Because I have seen and heard many times, how Serbs and Greeks deride us. |
| 16: | защо не ймее́мь сво҆ꙗ́ ҆истори́а заедно̀ совáкꙋпле́на за цр҃ие бльгар͛ски ҆и ст҃ихь | Because we don't have a chronicle collected together about emperors of Bulgaria and saints, |
| що били пре́жде цр͒твꙋвáли ҆и ст҃или се ѿ ни́хь | who were ruling before, and who were sanctified by them. | |
| 17: | то́го радѝ желанїемь, возжелехь по своего рода бльгар͛скаго | For that reason, I was overcome with desire for my Bulgarian kin. |
| 18: | ҆и преписáхь ю да се не изьгꙋбить | And I rewrote it, so that it does not perish. |
| 19: | ви же оц҃и ҆и братиа, кои чети́те ҆или желáете преписáти | And you, o fathers and brothers, who read or want to rewrite (this), |
| ҆áще что̀ ҆ѡбреще́те погрешено ҆исправе́те | if you find anything faulty, correct it! | |
| 20: | ҆и бл҃гословите ме́не гре́шнаго | And bless me! |
| 21: | ҆á не кльнете | And do not curse me! |
| 22: | защо не пи́са ҆áнг҃гель гд͒нь | Because an angel of God did not write (this). |
| 23: | но писá рꙋкà гре́шна чл҃веческа | But a sinful human hand wrote. |
| 24: | Ѡ всемл͒ти́ве гд͒и сохрани́ ме, влдко всеси́лне ѿ всакáго гре́ха и ѕло́би | O most merciful Lord, save me, o most powerful ruler, from all the sin and anger! |
| 25: | соблюдѝ не сквер͛на ҆и не поро́чна ѿ всѧкїѧ прокáзи проти́внаго диаволá | Preserve (me) untainted and unrotten by all the kinds of leprosy of the hostile Devil! |
| 26: | ҆и дáждь ми гд͒и слꙋжи́ти тебе вь преподобїи ҆и прáвде до после́днѧгѡ, дне ҆и чáса ҆и скон͛чанїѧ моего̀ | And grant me, o Lord, to serve you in sainthood and justice until the last day, and hour, and (until) my end! |
| 27: | ти бо есѝ бг҃ь мо́й | For you are my God. |
