1: [===] ʾazь pópa puno wt selò mókrešь napisáxь sïju ʾistoríju ʾizvéstno radì králwve ʾi cr͂ove [Foreword] I, Priest Puno from the village of Mokreš, wrote this chronicle about kings and emperors,
kako su se bíli blьgare ʾi grьci, how the Bulgars and Greeks had fought,
ʾi posle wttьvnáxu turci carstvo blь´gar͛skoe vь leto *#ato* and (how) afterwards the Turks took the Kingdom of Bulgaria in the year 1370.

3: ʾIzvolénïemь ʾóc͂a s pospešé-nïemь sña ʾi sovrьšénïemь st̃ago dx͂a ʾi sapisáxь ʾi privédoxь vьsačeskaʾjá By the will of the Father, with help of the Son, and by the perfection of Holy Spirit, I wrote down and brought forth all (of this).
4: [ʾi] azь smiréni ʾi gréšni gd͒u pospéšstvújušte mì spisáxь sïju ʾistorícu slavénobol͛garьskoju And I, humble and sinful, while the Lord was helping me, wrote down this Slavenobulgarian Chronicle.
5: ʾi drugi mnógi skazánïja ʾi čudesà ʾinïʾjá rádi st̃itelì, proizvédoxь wt prológь cr͒kí And I took many other legends and (stories about) miracles about saints from the Royal Prologue,
radi prósti ljúdïe da razuméjutь sílu na slóvo gd͒ne čtò govorit for the simple people, so that they understand the power of the Word of the Lord, what it says.
6: ʾi napisáxь sïa slovesà vь ʾwbidno selo mókrešь čtò estь va vidínsku ʾeparxïju And I wrote these words in the poor village of Mokreš, which lays in the Eparchy of Vidin.
7: poneže bex u selò mókrešь For I was (living?) in the village of Mokreš.
8: ʾi ʾwtьčestvo, moe béše támo And my fatherland was there.
9: ʾizbránoe slóvo wt razlíčni knígь ʾistorïĭ ʾi prológь ʾi margarítь vьsʾa savakupixь zaédno na edíno mesto ʾjákože ʾwbretóxь I collected selected text(s) from various books - chronicles, Prologue, Margarit - all on one place, as I have found them.
10: takò ʾi napisáxь And thus I wrote it down.
11: togdà béxь ʾázь *na* léto I was 51 years (old) then.
12: ʾi vь sš̃ten͛stvo béxь do toi gódь, sedmь ná deseto létenь, And in that year I was for the seventeenth year (?) in priesthood.
13: ʾi wt mnogo želanïe potrudix se And I worked hard from the lot of desire.
14: ʾi prepisáxь ju da jù ʾiméemь And I transcribed it, so that I have it.
15: ponéže mnogáždi vidéxь ʾi uslišax kako ukorájutь násь srьbïe ʾi grьci Because I have seen and heard many times, how Serbs and Greeks deride us.
16: zašto ne ĭmeémь svoʾjá ʾistoría zaednò sovákupléna za cr̃ie blьgar͛ski ʾi st̃ixь Because we don't have a chronicle collected together about emperors of Bulgaria and saints,
što bili préžde cr͒tvuváli ʾi st̃ili se wt níxь who were ruling before, and who were sanctified by them.
17: tógo radì želanïemь, vozželexь po svoego roda blьgar͛skago For that reason, I was overcome with desire for my Bulgarian kin.
18: ʾi prepisáxь ju da se ne izьgubitь And I rewrote it, so that it does not perish.
19: vi že oc͂i ʾi bratia, koi četíte ʾili želáete prepisáti And you, o fathers and brothers, who read or want to rewrite (this),
ʾášte čtò ʾwbreštéte pogrešeno ʾispravéte if you find anything faulty, correct it!
20: ʾi bl͂goslovite méne gréšnago And bless me!
21: ʾá ne klьnete And do not curse me!
22: zašto ne písa ʾáng͂gelь gd͒nь Because an angel of God did not write (this).
23: no pisá rukà gréšna čl͂večeska But a sinful human hand wrote.
24: W vseml͒tíve gd͒i soxraní me, vldko vsesílne wt vsakágo gréxa i źlóbi O most merciful Lord, save me, o most powerful ruler, from all the sin and anger!
25: sobljudì ne skver͛na ʾi neporóčna wt vsękïę prokázi protívnago diavolá Preserve (me) untainted and unrotten by all the kinds of leprosy of the hostile Devil!
26: ʾi dáždь mi gd͒i služíti tebe vь prepodobïi ʾi právde do poslédnęgw, dne ʾi čása ʾi skon͛čanïę moegò And grant me, o Lord, to serve you in sainthood and justice until the last day, and hour, and (until) my end!
27: ti bo esì bg̃ь móĭ For you are my God.
