60: slabo umna žena prifanu voina u svoi domъ The weak-minded woman took the soldier to her house.
61: i posede nekoliko dni And he sat (there) for some days.
62: i pomisli za onuju dvicu And he thought about the girl.
63: i faleše se pri onuju ženu če e jako bogatъ na svoju zemlju And he boasted to the woman, that he was very rich in his land.
64: i mlogo lъsteše onuju ženu da mu dade devicu dъšterъ svoju za ženu And he was deceiving the woman a lot, so that she gives him the girl, her daughter, as a wife.
65: a žena ta ne davaše devicu But the woman was not giving the girl (to him).
66: kogi vide voinъ When the soldier saw,

74: i pomisli da si dade dъšterъ voinu And she thought of giving her daughter to the soldier.

78: pomislixъ da ju dademъ tomuva čuždomu i ne znanomu člveku ʺI thought of giving her to that strange and unknown man.ʺ
79: ja se nadamъ na milostъ tvoju gdi ʺI set my hopes upon your mercy, o Lord,ʺ
da ju začuvašъ ot sveko zlo ʺthat you protect her from all evil.ʺ
80: i svu nadeždu vozloži sofia na bga And Sophia put all her hopes on God.
81: i napravi svadъbu And she made a wedding.
82: i mnogo vreme sedexu voine te u edesъ gradъ And the soldiers sat in the city of Edessa for a long time.
83: i onaja nevesta zače And the bride conceived.
84: i poide trudna ot togova voina And she became pregnant by that soldier.
85: i doide vreme da si idutъ voine te And the time came for the soldiers to go.

109: nelo da rečešъ če si robinъkja ʺBut tell, that you are my servant!ʺ
110: kogi ču nevesta takava duma na golema žalъba doide i When the bride heard such words, a great sorrow came on her.
111: mlogo žalъno plačeše She wept very sadly.
112: i bgu se moleše And she prayed to God.
113: i dumaše And she was speaking:
114: gdi iise xrte viždъ žalbu moju i slъzi moi ʺO Lord Jesus Christ, look upon my sorrow and my tears!ʺ
115: na tebe se nadamъ gdi ʺI set my hopes upon you, o Lord.ʺ
116: i doidoxu si na domъ And they came home.
117: vide go žena ta mu če vodi xubavu nevestu mladu His wife saw him, that he brings a pretty, young bride.

124: i sluguvaše And she served.
125: i noina gospodarъka ju pozna če xoče skoro da rodi And her lady understood (lit. knew her), that she will give birth soon.
126: i karaše ju na tešъki raboti And she drove her to (do) hard work,
dano bi umrelo dete to u korъmo nevestinъ so that the child in the bride's bosom would die.
127: a bgъ ju začuva But God protected her.
128: i rodi muško dete And she gave birth to a boy.
129: i priličeše na voina And it looked like the soldier.
130: kogi vide gospodarъka takovo dete a ona se počudi When the lady saw such a child, she wondered.
131: i u edinъ denъ zaprati robinju negde po nekoju rabotu And she sent one day the servant somewhere for something.
132: a ona uze otrovu And she took poison.
133: i turi na dete u usta ta And she put (the poison) to the mouth of the child.
134: kogi doide maikja na dete to naide go mrъtvo When the mother of the child came back, she found it dead.
135: i žlъti peni imaše na usta ta And it had yellow foam around the mouth.
136: a ona sirota nevesta beše razumna But that poor bride was wise.
137: ne napravi glъčъ She did not make a scandal.
138: nelo žaleše But she mourned.
139: i mlъčeše And she was silent.
140: i uze malъko vlъnica And she took a bit of wool.
141: i otri onię peni ot usta na dete to And she swept that foam from the mouth of the child.
142: i skri vlъnica ta And she hid the piece of wool.
143: i u edinъ denъ mužъ noenъ napravi zjafetъ goštenie And one day, her husband threw a party.
144: prizova si komъšii i srodnici He invited neigbors and family.
145: sedexu They sat,

147: i jadoxu (and) they ate.
148: a robinъkja ta uze onaja vlъnica And the servant took the piece of wool.
149: i reče And she said:
150: da vidimъ dali ot taja penja umre moe to detenъce ʺLet us see, whether my child died of that foam!ʺ
151: i omi onaę vlъnica u edna čaša And she washed the piece of wool in a cup.
152: i dade na svoę gospodarъka And she gave it to her lady.
153: i ona se napi And she drank (from it).
154: kakvo se napi toja časъ umre When she drank, she died on the spot.
155: i srodnici noini oskrъbixa se And her relatives became angry.
156: i kogi ju zakopaxu imaxu omišalъ na robinju And when they buried her, they had a suspicion towards the servant.
157: i rekoxu kako ona ju otrovi And they said, that she had poisoned her.
158: i fanaxu robinju And they caught the servant.
159: i turixa ju živa u grobъ pri noina gospodarъka And they threw her into the grave next to her lady alive.
160: i ostavixu člveci da čuvatъ grobo And they left people there to guard the grave.
161: i mlogo tegota i smradъ imaše ot onuju mrъtvuju ženu i tesnota u grobo And there was a lot of hardship, and stench from that dead woman, and narrowness in the grave.
162: i moleše se bgu And she prayed to God.
163: i dumaše And she was saying:
164: gdi bže moi uzmi mi dšu moju ʺO Lord, my God, take my soul!ʺ
165: i vamъ se molimъ sti ispovednici gurie i ti samone i avivo ʺI pray to you too, o holy confessors Gurias, and you too, o Samon and Habib!ʺ
166: izbavete me ot tova tesno mesto ʺFree me from this narrow place!ʺ
167: tako se moleše Thus she prayed.
168: i vide And she saw:
169: tri mužie priidoxu Three men came.
170: i rekoxu And they said:
171: ne boi se ʺDo not fear!ʺ
172: ti si imala nadeždu na nasъ ʺYou had your hope on us.ʺ
173: i nie ne štemo tebe ostaviti ʺAnd we will not leave you.ʺ
174: tako i rekoxu sti Thus the saints said to her.
175: i zaspa žena ta And the woman fell asleep.
176: i za magnovenie oko naide se u edesъ gradъ u crkvu stomu guriju samonu i avivu And in a moment she found herself in the city of Edessa, in the church of Sts. Gurias, Samon and Habib.
177: i javixa i se sti And the saints appeared to her.
178: i rekoxa ju And they said to her:
179: poznavaš li kade si ʺDo you recognize (it), where you are?ʺ
180: a ona se uplaši And she became afraid.
181: i ne može da poznae za mlogo vreme And she could not recognize (it) for a long time.
182: i posle pozna And then she recognized (it).
183: i vozraduva se And she became happy.
184: pade She fell (to her knees).
185: i pokloni se na stci te And she bowed to the saints.
186: i oni ju rekoxu And they said to her:
187: ete nię sotvorixъme tvoę nadežda što tebe predade mti tvoja namъ ʺBehold, we fulfilled (lit. created) you hope, (with) which your mother gave yourself to us (?)ʺ
188: i reče ot nasъ da te saka ʺAnd she said, that she wants you (to be brought) by us.ʺ
189: i nie te donesoxъme tuva ʺAnd (thus) we brought you here.ʺ
190: i ne vide gi nikoi gde otidoxu And nobody saw, where they went.
191: i ostanu onaja nevesta u crkva ta And the bride remained in the church.
192: kogi bi u jutro doide crkovni pop da čete pravilo In the morning, the priest of the church came to read the service.
193: i vide nevestu And he saw the bride.
194: sedi u crkvu She sat in the church.
195: i pita ju And he asked her:
196: kakvo si došla do tuka ʺHow did you come here?ʺ
197: ona mu kaza po redu sve što e patila She told him duly everything, how she fared.
198: i prizvaxu noina maikja And they summoned her mother.

200: i reče And she said:

205: i minu nekoliko vreme And some time passed.

208: i veselъ čineše mu se kakvo nikoi ne znae što e onъ storilъ And he acted like happy, as no one knew what he had done.
209: i pita go tъšta mu And his mother in law asked him:
210: što čini moe čedo ʺWhat is my child doing?ʺ
211: zdrava li e ʺIs she healthy?ʺ
212: i onъ reče And he said:
213: zdrava e ʺShe is healthy.ʺ
214: i rodila mi e muško dete ʺAnd she bore me a male child.ʺ
215: a mudra sofia ne može da trъpi lъžovni reči And wise Sophia could not suffer the deceptive words.
216: rasrъdi se She became angry.
217: i reče mu And she said to him:
218: o lъžu i ne pravedni i ne smisleni koliko si zlo storilъ ʺO you unjust and mindless, (saying?) lies, how much evil you have done!ʺ
219: vraže a ne člveče kakvo ne uboja se ot bga i ot sti ispovednici xrtovi ʺO you devil, and not a human, how could you not fear God and the holy confessors of Christ?ʺ
220: i na lъža si se zaklelъ za čtno ime bžie ʺAnd you falsely vowed (comitted perjury) on the honorable name of God.ʺ
221: tako reče sofia Thus spoke Sophia.
222: i izvede svoju dъšterъku pred nego And she brought her daughter in front of him.
223: i reče mu And she said to him:
224: poznavaš li taja nevesta ʺDo you recognize this bride?ʺ
225: taja li e što si ju zakopal živu u grobъ ʺIs this (the one), whom you have buried alive in a grave?ʺ
226: kogi vide nevestu zloumni voinъ ot straxъ pogubi svoi umъ When the evil-minded soldier saw the bride, he lost his mind from the fear.
227: i stanu kato mrъtavъ And he became like dead.
228: i ne može nikakvo da produma And he could not say anything.
229: i nekolъcina človeci bexu gotovi da go svrъžutъ And a couple of people were ready to bind him.
230: i vrъzaxa go And they bound him.
231: i privedoxa go predъ sudiju And they brought him to a judge.
232: privedoxa i nevestu They brought the bride too.
233: i ona sve po redu iskaza And she duly told everything.
234: i voinъ ne može nikakъ da lъžetъ And the soldier could not lie in any way.
235: povele sudija da mu otsečutъ glavu (So) the judge commanded (his people), to cut off his head,
i telo negovo na ognъ da izъgoratъ and to burn his body on a fire.
236: pomoli se vldka sudiju The lord (then) begged the judge,
da mu ne izgorutъ telo to na ognъ so that they would not burn his body on a fire,
tokmo po pravdu da otsečutъ negova bezumna glava (but) only that they would justly cut off his mindless head,
da se savrъšutъ sudъbi bžii so that the divine judgement be fulfilled.
237: vъ slavu prečtnoe ime stei i ne razdelnei trci For the glory (of the) most honorable name of the holy and inseparable Trinity,
oca i sina i stago dxa of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
