| 15: | poslé gi ʾizvédoxu ʾis tevnícu | Then they brought them out of the dungeon. |

| 35: | ʾi u tovà vréme počè cr̃ь Kostán͛dinь da právi cr̃kvi ʾi mn͒tíre | And in that time, Emperor Constantine started to build churches and monasteries. |

| 48: | ʾime i béše sofía | Her name was Sophia. |
| 49: | ʾi réče i ʾwnja voĭnь | And the soldier said to her: |
| 50: | bábo dá posedimь na dómь tvóĭ dogde sme tuka u vašïja grádь | ʺO old woman, let me sit in your house, as long as we are here in your city!ʺ |
| 51: | ʾá žena ta mu réče | And the woman said to him: |
| 52: | ʾjá smь ženà vdovíca | ʺI am a widow.ʺ |
| 53: | ʾi wšte smь: sírotica | ʺAnd I am also poor.ʺ |
| 54: | ʾi ne mamь sásь što da te goštevamь | ʺI have nothing to treat you with.ʺ |
| 55: | ʾá zloʾumni vóĭnь réče | And the evil-minded soldier said: |
| 56: | ʾw babo; za gošteváne ne trúdi se | ʺO old woman, do not worry about treating me.ʺ |

| 60: | slábo ʾumnà ženà prífanu vóĭna u svoi dómь | The weak-minded woman took the soldier to her house. |
| 61: | ʾi posedè nekoliko dnì | And he sat (there) for some days. |
| 62: | ʾi pomísli zá wnuju dv͂icu | And he thought about the girl. |
| 63: | ʾi fáleše se prì ʾónuju ženu čé e ʾjáko bogátь na svojù zémlju; | And he boasted to the woman, that he was very rich in his land. |
| 64: | ʾi mlógo lь´steše ʾwnuju ženù da mu dadè devícu dь´šterь svojù za ženù | And he was deceiving the woman a lot, so that she gives him the girl, her daughter, as a wife. |
| 65: | ʾá žená ta ne dávaše devícu | But the woman was not giving the girl (to him). |
| 66: | kogì vide vóĭnь | When the soldier saw, |
| sasь dobro ne móže da jù uzmet | that he cannot take her by good, | |
| pofalí se ʾi sa͒ zlo da jù uzmet | he boasted, that he would take her by evil. | |
| 67: | réče máĭkja i | Her mother said: |
| 68: | ʾw bezúmniče da sè ne nádašь | ʺO you mindless one, do not make hopes,ʺ |
| da dademь ʾjá svoè čédo na ne znaʾjánu stránu | ʺthat I would give my child to unknown land.ʺ | |
| 69: | ʾi kazáli su méne če sí ti ʾimašь žénu ʾi deca | ʺAnd they told me, that you have a wife and kids.ʺ |
| 70: | ʾá zloùmni vóĭnь zákle se za ime bž̃ïe kakvò ne è žénenь | And the evil-minded soldier sweared by the name of God that he was not married. |
| 71: | ʾi réče | And he said: |
| 72: | ʾjá míslimь tvójà dьštér͛ka da búde vasïę: na své to moè ʾimane | ʺI plan to (make) your daughter manage all my property.ʺ |
| 73: | ʾí sofíja ʾjáko slábo ʾumna ženà poveruvà lьžóvnuju negóvu klétvu | And Sophia, as a weak-minded woman, believed in his false vow. |
| 74: | ʾi pomisli da sì dadè dь´šterь vóĭnu | And she thought of giving her daughter to the soldier. |
| 75: | ʾi dignu na nébo ʾoč̃i ʾi ruce | And she raised her eyes and hands towards the heaven. |

| 77: | gd͒i ʾiıs͒e xr͒te poglednì tujù sírotu dv͂ícu dь´šterь mojù | ʺO Lord Jesus Christ, look upon that poor girl, my daughter!ʺ |
| 78: | pomislíxь da jù dadémь tomúva čúždomu ʾi ne znànomu čl͂véku | ʺI thought of giving her to that strange and unknown man.ʺ |
| 79: | ʾja se nádamь na mílostь tvojù gd͒i | ʺI set my hopes upon your mercy, o Lord,ʺ |

| 80: | ʾi svu nadéždu vozložì sofía na bg̃a | And Sophia put all her hopes on God. |
| 81: | ʾi napravì svad͛bu | And she made a wedding. |
| 82: | ʾi mnógo vréme sedexu vóĭne te u edésь grádь | And the soldiers sat in the city of Edessa for a long time. |
| 83: | ʾi wnája nevesta začè | And the bride conceived. |
| 84: | ʾi póĭde trúdna wt togóva vóĭna | And she became pregnant by that soldier. |
| 85: | ʾi dóĭde vréme da sì ʾidutь vóĭne te | And the time came for the soldiers to go. |
| 86: | a toa vóĭnь sákaše da sì vodi svojù nevestu | And the soldier wanted to take his bride. |

| 105: | ʾi reče i | And he said to her: |
| 106: | kogì ʾideme na moĭ dómь | ʺWhen we come to my home (...)ʺ |
| 107: | ʾjá si ʾimamь ženù | ʺI have a wife.ʺ |
| 108: | ʾi da ne rečéšь če ʾi tebe ʾimamь za ženu | ʺDo not say, that I have you as my wife too!ʺ |
| 109: | nelo da rečéšь če sì robin͛kja | ʺBut tell, that you are my servant!ʺ |
| 110: | kogì ču nevesta takáva duma na goléma žal͛ba doĭde ì: | When the bride heard such words, a great sorrow came on her. |
| 111: | mlógo žal͛no pláčeše | She wept very sadly. |
| 112: | ʾi bg̃u se moleše | And she prayed to God. |
| 113: | ʾi dúmaše | And she was speaking: |
| 114: | gd͒i ʾiï͒se xr͒te viždь žalbu mojù ʾi slьzi móĭ | ʺO Lord Jesus Christ, look upon my sorrow and my tears!ʺ |
| 115: | na tébe se nádamь gd͒i | ʺI set my hopes upon you, o Lord.ʺ |
| 116: | ʾi dóĭdoxu si na domь | And they came home. |

| 119: | kakvá e tája ženà | ʺWho is that woman?ʺ |

| 121: | róbinja mi e | ʺ(She) is my servant.ʺ |
| 122: | dovédoxь jù da tì slúguva | ʺI brought her to serve you.ʺ |
| 123: | mláda nevésta mlьčéše | The young bride was silent. |
| 124: | ʾi sluguvaše | And she served. |
| 125: | ʾi nóʾina gospodar͛ka jù pozna če xóče skóro da ródi | And her lady understood (lit. knew her), that she will give birth soon. |
| 126: | ʾi karašé ju na teš͛ki ráboti | And she drove her to (do) hard work, |
| danó bi umrélo deté to u korьmo nevéstinь | so that the child in the bride's bosom would die. | |
| 127: | ʾá bg̃ь jù začuvà | But God protected her. |
| 128: | ʾi rodi muško detè | And she gave birth to a boy. |
| 129: | ʾi prilíčeše na vóĭna | And it looked like the soldier. |
| 130: | kogì; vidè gospodar͛ka takóvo detè ʾá wna se počudi | When the lady saw such a child, she wondered. |
| 131: | ʾi u edinь denь záprati robinju négde po nékoju rábotu | And she sent one day the servant somewhere for something. |
| 132: | ʾá wna uze ʾwtróvu | And she took poison. |
| 133: | ʾi turi na detè u ustá ta | And she put (the poison) to the mouth of the child. |
| 134: | kogi do:ʾide máĭkja na deté to naĭdé go mrь´tvo | When the mother of the child came back, she found it dead. |
| 135: | ʾi žlьtì péni ʾimaše na usta ta | And it had yellow foam around the mouth. |
| 136: | ʾá wna sirota nevésta béše razumna | But that poor bride was wise. |

| 139: | ʾi mlьčéše | And she was silent. |

| 141: | ʾi ōtri ʾwnïę péni wt usta na deté to | And she swept that foam from the mouth of the child. |
| 142: | ʾi skri vlь´nica ta | And she hid the piece of wool. |
| 143: | ʾi u edinь; dénь múžь noenь nápravi zjafétь goštenïe | And one day, her husband threw a party. |

| 151: | ʾi ʾwmi ʾwnaę vlь´nica u ednà čáša | And she washed the piece of wool in a cup. |
| 152: | ʾi dade na svoę` gospodar͛ka | And she gave it to her lady. |
| 153: | ʾi wná se napi | And she drank (from it). |
| 154: | kakvó se napi; toʾjà čásь umre; | When she drank, she died on the spot. |
| 155: | ʾi sródnici nóĭni ʾwskrьbíxa se | And her relatives became angry. |
| 156: | ʾi kogi ju zakopáxu ʾimaxu ʾwmišalь na róbinju | And when they buried her, they had a suspicion towards the servant. |
| 157: | ʾi rékoxu káko wná ju ʾwtrovi | And they said, that she had poisoned her. |
| 158: | ʾi fanaxu róbinju | And they caught the servant. |
| 159: | ʾi turixa ju žíva u gróbь pri nóina gospodár͛ka | And they threw her into the grave next to her lady alive. |
| 160: | ʾi wstavixu čl͂véci da čúvatь grobo | And they left people there to guard the grave. |
| 161: | ʾi mlógo tegota ʾi smrádь ʾimaše wt wnúju mrьtvuju ženù ʾi tesnota u gróbo | And there was a lot of hardship, and stench from that dead woman, and narrowness in the grave. |
| 162: | ʾi mólešé se bg̃u | And she prayed to God. |
| 163: | ʾi dúmaše | And she was saying: |
| 164: | gd͒i bž̃e móĭ uzmí mi dš̃u moju | ʺO Lord, my God, take my soul!ʺ |

| 179: | poznávaš li kadé si | ʺDo you recognize (it), where you are?ʺ |

| 184: | páde | She fell (to her knees). |
| 185: | ʾi poklóni se na st̃ci te | And she bowed to the saints. |

| 187: | ʾete nïę sótvoríx͛me tvoę nadéžda što tébe predáde mt̃i tvòʾja; námь | ʺBehold, we fulfilled (lit. created) you hope, (with) which your mother gave yourself to us (?)ʺ |
| 188: | ʾi réče wt násь da tè sáka | ʺAnd she said, that she wants you (to be brought) by us.ʺ |
| 189: | ʾi nïe te: donésox͛me túva | ʺAnd (thus) we brought you here.ʺ |

| 215: | ʾá mudra sofía ne može da trьpì lьžòvni réči | And wise Sophia could not suffer the deceptive words. |

| 218: | w͒ lь´žu ʾi ne právedni ʾi ne smísleni kolíko si zlo storilь | ʺO you unjust and mindless, (saying?) lies, how much evil you have done!ʺ |

| tokmo po právdu da wtsečútь negóva bezumna; gláva | (but) only that they would justly cut off his mindless head, | |
| da sè savrь´šutь sud͛bi bž̃ïĭ | so that the divine judgement be fulfilled. | |
