38: ta xodeše na maistora Thus he went to the master (to learn).
39: i vide go ocъ erъmolaja And father Hermolaus saw him.
40: i pozna go če ima dxъ sti u negovo srdce And he understood (about) him, that he has Holy Spirit in his heart.
41: i vide go And he saw him.
42: i dobre razume ocъ And he understood him well.

52: oče dogde beše živa mati moja zamanъ me učeše da stanemъ xrtianinъ ʺO father, as long as my mother lived, she always taught me to become a Christian.ʺ
53: no kakvo umre mati moja ne ma koi da me nastavi na veru xrtianъsku ʺBut since my mother died, there is no (one), who would bring me to the Christian faith.ʺ

56: kakovъ zanajatъ učišъ čedo ʺAnd what profession do you learn for?ʺ

60: o čedo panъtalee za što ti e tebe takovo elinъsko lekarъstvo ʺO Pantaleon, child, what would you have from this pagan medicine?ʺ
61: ot tija elinъski lekare ni edna pomoštъ ne ma ʺThere is not a single help from those pagan doctors.ʺ
62: veruvame čedo ʺWe believe, o child.ʺ
63: i toja efrosinъ tvoi maistorъ ʺEven that Euphrosynus, your master.ʺ
64: i ot nego mala nekoja sila i pomoštъ možatъ da sotvoratъ bolъnomu ʺEven from him (there is) little power and help (which) can be done to an ill one.ʺ
65: ni edna pomoštъ ne ma ot elinъski vračeve ʺThere is not a single help from pagan doctors.ʺ
66: no i tija bogove što gi počita crъ ni za edna potreba ne su ʺBut also the gods, whom the Emperor worships, are of no use.ʺ
67: tъkmo edna prelъstъ ʺJust one deception.ʺ
68: i koito su bezumni tia gi verujutъ ʺAnd those, who are mindless, believe in them.ʺ
69: edinъ e bgъ naš iisъ xrtosъ ʺOur God is one - Jesus Christ.ʺ
70: reče ocъ erъmolaja Father Hermolaus said:
71: čedo pantalee takovago bga ako imašъ veruvati ʺO Pantaleon, child, if you will believe in such a god,ʺ
i onъ šte tebe daruvati darъbu svaka bolestъ da lekuvašъ bezъ bilki i bezъ korene ʺthen he will grant you a gift to heal any illness without herbs or roots.ʺ
72: vidišъ li čedo panъtalee kolika sila ima našъ bgъ ʺDo you see, o Pantaleon, child, how much power does our God have?ʺ
73: svekakvi bolesti sasъ edna duma iscelъva ʺHe heals all the kinds of illnesses with one word.ʺ
74: slepi prosvetuva ʺHe enlightens the blind.ʺ
75: nedužni očistuva ʺHe purifies the ill.ʺ
76: xromi ozdravi ʺHe heals the crippled.ʺ
77: i xodatъ ʺAnd they walked.ʺ

85: i reče panъtalei And Pantaleon said:
86: o mti moja mila čulъ bexъ ot tvoi te usta takviva sladki dumi ʺO my dear mother, if I had ever heard such sweet words from you!ʺ
87: i mlogo molexъ bga da si živa ʺAnd I prayed (to) God many times, so that you were alive,ʺ
da me privedešъ na veru xrtovu ʺto bring me to the faith in Christ,ʺ
da se poklonimъ i ja kakvo se poklanjaše ti ʺso that I, too, bow down, like you were doing,ʺ
i sakaše pomoštъ ot nego ʺand (as) you were asking him for help.ʺ
88: i utvrъdi se panъtalei na veru i na ljubovъ xrtovu And Pantaleon strengthened himself in the faith and love for Christ.

98: ako stane tova detište zdravo ako oživee a elinъski lekare da umratъ ʺIf the child becomes healthy, if it becomes alive, then may the pagan doctors die.ʺ
99: i ja drugogo ne štemъ veče poslušati ʺAnd I shall not listen to another one anymore.ʺ
100: no tъkmo oca erъmolaja ʺ(I shall listen) only to Father Hermolaus!ʺ
101: i da budemъ xrtianinъ ʺAnd may I will become a Christian!ʺ

103: i reče And he said:
104: vo ime xrtovo da stane detište živo ʺIn the name of Christ, may the child becomes alive!ʺ
105: ox bže čudesa tvoja O God, your miracles!
106: i kato ot sъnъ stanu detište And the child woke up as from a sleep.
107: ožive It became alive.
108: i reče panъtalea And Pantaleon said:
109: saga poznaxъ kakvomu bgu silъnomu štemъ da se poklanjamъ ʺNow I understood, how strong God I shall worship!ʺ
110: i skoro priide pri dxovnika erъmolaja And he came soon to the priest Hermolaus.
111: i sakaše ot nego krъštenie And he wanted from him baptism,
da go krъsti dxo stimъ to baptize him by the Holy Spirit.

122: i ne ostavixa mene i maistora moego efrosina ʺAnd they did not let me and my master Euphrosynus (go).ʺ
123: zadrъžaxa ni dogde ozdrave člveko ʺThey held us, until the man was healthy.ʺ
124: takoi reče pri baštu si panъtalei Thus spoke Pantaleon by his father.
125: a gi otide pri maistora si efrosina i onъ go pita And as he went to master Euphrosynus, he asked him, too:
126: kude si bilъ tolъkova dni ʺWhere have you been so long?ʺ
127: a onъ mu reče And he said to him:
128: ocъ moi kupilъ edna čudna niva ʺMy father bought a wonderful acre.ʺ
129: i predade ju mene ʺAnd he gave it to me.ʺ
130: i ja dogde naidoxъ člveci ʺAnd until I found people,ʺ

137: i koi sednaxu ʺAnd which sat?ʺ
138: i nikakvo ne mogoxu da stanutъ ʺAnd they could not stand up?ʺ
139: i ocъ ne može ni malo da mu otreče And the father could not answer him a bit.
140: niti može da se seti Nor could he understand it.
141: no po nekolъko dni fanu da mrazi bogove te svoi But, after a couple of days, he began to hate his gods.
142: i panъtalei šteše da sakruši svi te idole And Pantaleon was going to destroy all the idols.

158: zašto ot slepota ne ima druga nužda po teška ʺFor there is no other, more dire problem than blindness.ʺ

160: zašto se mnogo vračove obrekoxu da me iscelatъ ʺFor many doctors vowed to heal me.ʺ
161: i ne mogoxu ʺAnd they could not.ʺ

163: i ostaxъ do konъca slepъ okajani ʺAnd I became totally blind, a poor one.ʺ
164: i reče sti panъtalei slepcu And St. Pantaleon said to the blind man:
165: sve tvoe imenie na vračeve si razdalъ ʺYou gave away all your property to doctors.ʺ
166: i ne si polučilъ iscelenie ʺAnd you did not receive healing.ʺ
167: a ja da te iscelimъ što xočešъ mi dati ʺAnd, be it I heal you, what would you give me?ʺ
168: reče slepecъ The blind man said:
169: što mi e ostalo u moi domъ potreba tebe sve da go dademъ ʺI shall give you everything, whatever needed had remained in my house.ʺ
170: reče sti The saint said:
171: tvoi oči xoče istini bgъ isceliti sasъ mene ʺThe True God will heal your eyes with me.ʺ
172: a što si rekъlъ da mi dadešъ dar radi iscelenie ʺAnd that, what you have said to give me as a gift for the healing,ʺ

173: tako reče panъtalea Thus spoke Pantaleon:
174: nadam se na xrta moego ʺI put my hope on my Christ.ʺ
175: a ocъ negovъ čineše mu se sasъ bilъki ili sa nešto šte da go pomaže da go isceli And it seemed to his father, that he would smear him with herbs or something to heal him.
176: i reče mu ocъ And his father said:
177: ne nafaštai se čedo da izъlekuvašъ togova človeka ʺDo not hope to heal that man, o child!ʺ
178: če štešъ da se zasramišъ ot tvoego maistora i ot drugi lekare po vešti ʺFor you will put yourself to shame before your master and, even more, before the other, more knowleadgeable doctors.ʺ
179: tolъko ot ni vešti lekare ne možexu da go izlekuvatъ ʺSo many (more) knowledgeable doctors than us were unable to heal him!ʺ
180: ta ti li šteš nego da iscelišъ ʺAnd you (think that you) are going to heal him?ʺ
181: reče panъtalei bašte si Pantaleon said to his father:
182: oče drugi ne može da iscelъva kato ja ʺO father, others cannot heal like me.ʺ
183: zašto e moi maistorъ nadi svi te po lekarъ ʺBecause my master is a better healer than all of them.ʺ
184: a bašte mu se pomneše če za maistora si efrosina duma And his father thought, that he meant Euphrosynus to be his master.
185: paki mu reče ocъ Again, his father said:
186: čedo ne fali se sasъ tvoego maistora ʺO child, do not boast about your master!ʺ
187: če ja smъ čulъ ot slepъca če i pri nego e xodilъ ʺFor I have heard from the blind man, that he went to him too,ʺ
i onъ ne moželъ da go isceli ʺand he was (supposedly) unable to heal him too.ʺ
188: reče sti The saint said:
189: gledai oče i sam ʺO father, observe by yourself,ʺ
da vidišъ čudesa bžia ʺso that you see the miracles of God,ʺ
i da veruvašъ istinago xrta ʺand so that you believe in the True Christ.ʺ
190: tako reče sti Thus spoke the saint.
191: i prostre svoju desnicu And he stretched his right hand.
192: sotvori čtnago krta na oči slepago And he did a (sign of) True Cross over the eyes of the blind man.
193: i reče And he said:
194: vo ime iisa xa sina bžia ʺIn the name of Jesus Christ, Son of God!ʺ
195: edinъ časъ mu se otvrъzaxu oči te In one moment, his eyes were unbound.
196: i progleda And he started to see.
197: i toi poverъva u toja časъ vъ xrta And he started to believe in Christ in that moment.
198: a ne toko slepec And not only the blind man,
no i drugi mlozina poverъvaxu vъ xrta but also many others started to believe in Christ.

200: i kato go isceli panъtalei a onъ poveruva sa sve srdce iisa xrta And as Pantaleon healed him, he believed in Jesus Christ with all his heart.

209: i sokruši svi te idole And he destroyed all the idols.
210: i po tova malъko bi živъ ocъ stomu And afterwards, the father of the saint lived (for) a little (time).
211: i umre vъ blgočestie And he died in piety.

213: i mlogo čudesa tvoreše na svaka denъ And he was performing miracles every day.

217: koi xoče da poverъva vъ xrta da go iscelimъ ʺHim, who will believe in Christ, I shall heal.ʺ
218: i ništo mu ne uzimamъ zaplata ʺAnd I shall take nothing as the pay.ʺ
219: i koi ne šte da veruva xrta i ja ne štemъ nego da iscelimъ ʺAnd I will not heal the one, who will not believe in Christ.ʺ
220: i u edinъ denъ sedexu po trъgu svi te lekare And one day the all doctors sat on the marketplace.

233: beše go mučelъ crъ radi vera The Emperor had (supposedly) tortured him because of the faith.

339: i počexu da se molatъ na svoi bgove And they began to pray to their gods.
340: ednogo boga zovexu vaalъ One god they called Baal.
341: a drugogo ževъga Another (they called) Zeus (?)
342: a tretago askipia And a third one (they called) Asclepius.
343: i svi te bogove na redъ prizovaxu And they called each other one by one.

359: gdi be moi vse mogi i vse silъni usliši gdi molenie moe ʺO Lord, my God, omnipotent and all-powerful, listen, o Lord, to my prayer!ʺ
360: i skoro usliši me ʺAnd listen to me soon!ʺ
361: pokaži gdi čudesa tvoja predъ togo pomračenago naroda ʺShow your miracles in front of this darkened people!ʺ
362: i da vidutъ tvoju slavnuju silu ʺMay they see your glorious power.ʺ

364: i fanu bolъnago za ruku And he took the ill man by the hand.
365: i reče mu And he said to him:

376: zaklinjamo te za veliki naši bgove da ne ostaviš panъtaleju ni edinъ časъ živъ da bude ʺWe adjure you in the (name of) our great gods to not leave Pantaleon alive for a single moment!ʺ
377: ako li tako ne sotvorišъ skoro xočešъ da pogibneš ʺIf you will not do so, you shall die soon.ʺ
378: i naša vera ʺAnd our faith (shall die soon too).ʺ
379: i xočeme stanuti xrtianomъ za poruganie i da ni se smejutъ ʺAnd we will become ripe for mockery for the Christians, so that they laugh at us.ʺ
380: i xočatъ nad nasъ da cruvatъ i da ni zapovedvatъ da im se boime ʺAnd they will rule over us and command us, so that we fear them.ʺ

399: i reče mu crъ And the Emperor said to him:
400: panъtalee sasъ kakvi magii sotvori na moi te voine ruce te kato mrъtvi ʺO Pantaleon, with what kind of magic did you make the hands of my soldiers as dead?ʺ
401: i svešti te izgasnaxa što tebe gorexa ʺAnd the candles, which were burning you, were exstinguished.ʺ

409: i daite mlogo ogъnъ na kotelo da kipi olovo ʺAnd give a lot of fire to the kettle, so that the lead boils!ʺ

421: i reče golemъ kamikъ da privežu stomu na šiju And he said (a command) to bind a big stone on his neck.

423: i togiva mu se javi xrtosъ And then the Christ appeared to him.
424: i tešъki kamikъ javi se stomu lekъ kato lisъ And the heavy stone appeared to the saint as light as a leaf.

446: nikogi da ne pomislišъ cru da početemъ tvoi bogove ʺYou should never think that I will respect your gods!ʺ
447: zašto me plašišъ sasъ tvoi zverove ʺWhy do you (try to) scare me with your beasts?ʺ
448: koi umrъtvi voinomъ ruce ʺWho made the hands of the soldiers dead?ʺ

462: i tvrъdeše mu srdce da se ne boi And he hardened his heart, so that he does not fear.

497: radi tebe koliko člveci pobieni biša ʺSo many people were slaughtered because of you!ʺ

500: i stajat nenavistnici na bogove te naši i protivnici na cr̂tvo moe ʺAnd they become haters of our gods and enemies of my kingdom.ʺ

519: crъ te zove da idešъ pri nego ʺThe Emperor summons you to come to him.ʺ
520: i erъmolaja reče And St. Hermolaus said:
521: i ja znaemъ pošto me zove ʺI know, too, why he calls me.ʺ
522: če mi samъ xrtosъ pokaza ʺFor the Christ Himself showed me,ʺ

524: kakvo ti e ime ʺWhat is your name?ʺ

527: ime moe erъmolaja ʺMy name (is) Hermolaus.ʺ

541: elate svi zaedno sasъ mene da prineseme opъštu mltvu na bogove te ʺLet us all go, together with me, to bring a prayer to the gods together!ʺ
542: i togiva xočemъ da imamъ vasъ moi verъni ljudie ʺAnd then I shall have you as my loyal subjects.ʺ
543: i mlogo xočemъ vasъ da početem ʺAnd I will give you many honors.ʺ
544: i mlogo darъ vasъ da daruvamъ ʺAnd I will give you many gifts.ʺ

546: ne šte da bude tova cru ʺThis shall not be.ʺ
547: ne šteme nię da zagubime dšu našu ʺWe don't want to lose our soul(s).ʺ
548: takovi razumъ imamo mie xrtiani ʺWe, Christians, have such a reasoning.ʺ
549: podъ mnogo muki da umremo xrta radi ʺTo die under many tortures for the sake of Christ.ʺ

551: i dignaxu ruce svoi na nebo And they raised their hands towards the heaven.
552: i pomolixu se da imъ prati bgъ pomoštъ And they prayed, so that God sends them help.
553: i javi imъ se bgъ And God appeared to them.
554: i potrese zemlju And He shook the earth.
555: i bezъumni crъ maѯimianъ reče And the mindless Emperor Maximian said:
556: videxte li kakvo ne možexu da trъputъ naši bogove vaše xulenie ʺDid you see, how our gods cannot suffer your blasphemy?ʺ
557: i rasrъdixu se na vasъ ʺAnd they became angry with you!ʺ
558: i zaradъ tova bogove potresoxu zemъlju ʺAnd because of that the gods shook the earth.ʺ
559: i reče erъmolaja And Hermolaus said:
560: višъ cru da ne budutъ padnuli na zemlju ʺO Emperor, make sure they are not fallen to the ground!ʺ
561: pa togava reči če su oni potresli zemlju ʺThen say, that they shook the earth!ʺ
562: ošte ne beše izdumalъ erъmolaja Hermolaus did not even finish the word.
563: i doide člvekъ And a man came.
564: i reče And he said:
565: cru na mnoga leta živъ budi ʺO Emperor, may you live for many years!ʺ
566: svi te bogove popadaxu ʺAll the gods have fallen!ʺ
567: i po mali čti sasipaxu se ʺAnd they fell apart into small pieces!ʺ
568: i onia stci podsmejaxu se And the saints laughed (at them).
569: i rekoxu And they said:
570: tolika li sila imaxu bogove i potresoxu zemlju ʺSo much power did the gods have, (that) they shook the earth?ʺ
571: a pošto padnaxu ʺSo why they did fell?ʺ
572: ne razumni crъ i ne smisleni mučitelъ povele The unwise Emperor and senseless tormentor gave a command.
573: i posekoxu tri stci And they killed the three saints.
574: i česnia nixъni mošti noštemъ ukradnaxu xrtiani And the Christians stole their honorable relics in the night.
575: i pogreboxa gi čtno And they buried them honorably.
576: i paki prizva crъ stago panъtalea And again, the Emperor summoned St. Pantaleon.

578: i reče mu And he said to him:
579: tvoi učitelъ erъmolaja i družina ta mu razumexu što e bilo po dobro na toja stъ ʺYour teacher Hermolaus and his company understood, what is better in this world.ʺ
580: i prinesoxu mltvu bogomъ ʺAnd they brought a prayer to the gods.ʺ
581: i ja nix početoxъ kakvoto si trebuvaše ʺAnd I honored them, as it was due to them.ʺ
582: i ti panъtalee ako poslušašъ moe povelenie da se poklonišъ na idole mlogo darъbu štemъ te daruva ʺYou too, o Pantaleon, if you obey my command and bow to the idols, I will grant you many gifts.ʺ
583: ako li me ne poslušašъ ne štešъ da izbegnešъ ot ruke moi ʺIf you don't obey me, you will not run away from my hands.ʺ
584: i xočešъ da umrešъ ot gorъki samrъtъ .: ʺAnd you shall die a bitter death.ʺ

594: koliko ne može dšu da si podъemne So much (that) he could not assemble his soul (?) anymore.
595: i ot jadъ reče And he said from the anger,
i nego da posečutъ to kill him, too,
i da mu izgoratъ telo to na ognъъ and to burn his body in fire.
596: i kogi povedoxu voine stago da go posečutъ † golema mu radostъ priide And when the soldiers came to kill the saint, a great joy came to him.
597: i paki potrusi se zemlę And the earth shook again.
598: i vrъzaxu stago za maslično drъvo And they bound the saint to an olive tree.
599: i zamaxъnu edinъ voinъ da go poseče And a soldier waved (the sword) to kill him.
600: izvi se ostro žilezo And the sharp iron twisted.
601: i voin ot straxъ kato zaide mu pametъ And the soldier (was shocked?) by fear, (as much) as his mind was blown.
602: i reče And he said:
603: i ja veruemъ če e xrtosъ istini bgъ ʺI believe, too, that the Christ is the True God!ʺ
604: i uze venecъ i toi And he took the wreaths (of a martyr) too.
605: i stanu blgočestivъ And he became pious.
606: i paki reče panъtalea na voine te And Pantaleon said again to the soldiers:
607: sotvorete povelenie crevo ʺFulfill the Emperor's command!ʺ
608: i oni veče ne smejaxu da dignutъ ruku na stago And they did not dare to raise a hand against the saint anymore.
609: nelo mu celovaxu voine te noze te And the soldiers kissed his feet.
610: i mlogo milosъ sotvorixu sasъ nego And they had (lit. made) much mercy with him.
611: i posle mu otsekoxu čtnuju glavu And then they cut off his honorable head.
612: i sotvorixu povelenie crevo And they fulfilled the Emperor's command.
613: i gdeto beše vrъzanъ sti za maslično to drъvo tamo posekoxu stago And they killed the saint on the place, where the saint was bound to the olive tree.
614: namesto krъvъ izide mleko Milk came out instead of blood.
615: i onova drъvo u onja časъ ispolъni se sasъ rožъba And the tree was filled in that moment with fruit.
616: kakvo ču crъ i za drъvo to When the Emperor heard about the tree,
povele da go otsečutъ he commanded to cut it down,
da ne bi se i ot drъvo to storilo nekoja čudesa so that no (more) miracles would happen on (lit. from) the tree.
617: i uzexu xrtiani čtnie mošti stomu And the Christians took the honorable relics of the saint.
618: i zanesoxu gi na gradъ adamanъ And they brought it to the city of Adaman.
619: tamo položixu mošti stago mčnika iscelitelja panъteleimona : There they placed the relics of the holy martyr and healer Pantaleon.
620: o čudo golemo i preslavno O (such) a great and most glorious miracle!
621: čuxъte li blgosloveni xrtiani mučenie i čudesa stomu Did you hear, o blessed Christians, (the story of) the martyrdom and miracles of the saint?
622: tako dlъžni esmi i mie da verъvame i da praznuvame Thus we, too, are obliged to believe and to celebrate.
623: sega na tija vremena ne ima elinski crove da mučatъ za vera Now, in these times there are no pagan emperors to torture for faith.
624: nelo da se podъkanime da ugodime bgu So let us resolve to be pleasant to God,
da ne zaminuvatъ naši dni i godini i sъvъ životъ našъ sasъ grexъ so that our days and years and the whole life will not pass in sin.
625: da ne ugodvame vragu Let us not be pleasant to the Enemy!
626: no da budemo čisti sasъ telo i sasъ dšu But let us be pure in body and soul!
627: i da postime And let us fast!
628: i da drъžime veru kakvo običe xrtosъ i svi sti But let us uphold the faith, as the Christ and all the saints like!
629: mie da se molime neprestano na svi sti Let us pray to all the saints without ceasing!
630: a oni da se molatъ bgu za nasъ And may they pray to God for us,
da ni dade bgъ pomošt što oreme i kopame so that God gives us help, when we till (the earth) and dig,
da ni se rodi so that (the earth) gives us fruit,
i dъžъ blagъ vъ svoe vreme da ni dade bgъ and that God gives us good rain in its time.
631: i ot svi strani da ni dade bgъ pomoštъ And may God gives us help from all sides.
632: i da smo se zabavili And let us have spent some time!
633: zašto nię pokazaxme u stoe pisanie nekoliko reči Because we showed some words in the holy scripture.
