5:	Toja st̃i pántaléĭ béše vъ létw ne čt͒ívago cr̃a máѯimiʾána	This St. Pantaleon was (living) in year(s?) of the dishonorable Emperor Maximian.
6:	ʾóc͂ь négóvь béše ʾelínь	His father was a pagan.
7:	béše mu ʾime evstorgia	His name was Eustorgius.
8:	ʾjáko ʾimaše grížu da početè ʾidole
9:	ʾá máĭkja pan͛talewva béše ʾime ʾei evúla	And the name of Pantaleon's mother was Eubula.
10:	ʾi béše bl͂gočéstíva	And she was pious.
11:	póklanjáše se ʾistínomu bg̃u	She worshipped the True God.
12:	ʾi na sváki čásь ʾučešè pan͛taléju na pravoslávnu véru xr͒iʾan͛sku	And she taught Pantaleon every time to the Orthodox Christian faith.
13:	i po nekolьko vréme umrè máika pan͛taléwva	And after some time, the mother of Pantaleon died.
14:	ʾi pan͛taléĭ ʾučeše elín͛ska knìga	And Pantaleon learned pagan literature.
15:	ʾi nauči knígu xúbavo	And he learned the literature well.
16:	ʾi dáde go baštá mu ʾednómu máĭstoru da se ʾučì vračь ʾi da lekúva	And his father gave him to one master to learn (to become a) doctor, and to heal.
17:	pan͛taléĭ béše ʾwšte mládo detè	Pantaleon was still a small child.
18:	ʾali beše ʾjáko dobroʾunmno	But he was very clever.
19:	ʾi skoro náuči se lekar͛stvo	And he learned medicine soon.
20:	ʾi katò béše mládo ʾjáko beše xubavo ná licè	And as he was small, he was very beautiful in the face.
21:	ʾi čt͒o béše u srdce	And he was pure in the heart.
22:	ʾi svetlívo na ʾobràzь	And (he was) of shiny appearance.
23:	ʾi rečovíto	And (he was) well-spoken.
24:	ʾi proslávi se	And he became famous.
25:	ʾi pročú se na daléko	And he became known far away.
26:	dočù ʾi cr̃ь maѯímianь	Even Emperor Maximian heard (about him).
27:	ʾi vide go	And he saw him.
28:	ʾidešè sásь máĭstora si ʾefrosina	He went with his master Euphrosynus.
29:	ʾi ulézoxu u cr̃ovi dvoróve	And they entered the Emperor's court.
30:	ʾi pità cr̃ь	And the Emepror asked.

33:	ʾi zaručè cr̃ь ʾefrosínu	And the Emperor commanded Euphrosynus.
34:	čvrьsto da gò ʾizьʾučišь na lekárstvo	ʺTeach him firmly in the (art of) medicine,ʺ
	da gò zémemь ʾjá u dvoróve móĭ	ʺso that I take him to my court,ʺ
	da mi sè náxodi domà	ʺso that I have him at home.ʺ
35:	ʾi u wnóva vréme ʾi dx͂óvnikь er͛molája béše u tója grádь níkomidíju	And in that time, also the priest Hermolaus was in that city, Nicomedia.
36:	ʾi své se kríeše er͛molája wt stráxь cr̃ev͛ ʾu ednà xíža	And because of fear of the Emperor, Hermolaus hid himself in one hut.
37:	po kráĭ ʾwnája xíža pan͛taléĭ minúvaše	And Pantaleon used to pass around the hut.
38:	ta xódeše na máistora	Thus he went to the master (to learn).
39:	ʾi vidé go ʾóc͂ь ʾer͛molája	And father Hermolaus saw him.
40:	ʾi pozna gò čé ʾima dx͂ь st̃i u negóvo srdce	And he understood (about) him, that he has Holy Spirit in his heart.
41:	ʾi vidé go	And he saw him.
42:	ʾi dobrè razume ʾoc͂ь	And he understood him well.
43:	ʾi paki go mer͛tikosva če šte da búde pámetь negóvь katò zem͛lja túčna ʾi xlebóródna	And he measured him, that his memory will be like a fruitful and bread-giving soil.
44:	ʾi mísleše ʾóc̃ь da gw` ʾispíta	And the father thought to educate him.
45:	ʾi ednò jútro pan͛taléi póminu; po krái vráta	And one morning, Pantaleon passed next to the door.
46:	ʾi vidé go ʾer͛molája	And Hermolaus saw him.
47:	ʾi uvede go u dómь svóĭ	And he led him into his house.
48:	ʾi počè da mù xorotùva ʾoc̃ь	And the father began to speak to him.
49:	ʾi réče	And he said:
50:	pan͛talee kakvò béše mt̃i tvoę blágočestíva	ʺO Pantaleon, as your mother was pious,ʺ
	ʾi poklánjaše se xr͒tù	ʺand she worshipped the Christ,ʺ
	ʾá oc̃ь tvói béše elínecь	ʺbut your father was a pagan,ʺ
	kakvò se drьžéxte;	ʺwhat you were holding to?ʺ
51:	réče pan͛taléĭ	Pantaleon said:
52:	ʾoč̃e dogdè béše žíva; máti mojà zaman͛ me učéše da stánemь; xr͒tíăninь	ʺO father, as long as my mother lived, she always taught me to become a Christian.ʺ
53:	no kakvò ʾumre máti mojà ne ma kóĭ da me nastávi na véru xr͒tían͛sku	ʺBut since my mother died, there is no (one), who would bring me to the Christian faith.ʺ
54:	ʾwc̃ь móĭ ʾi do sьga káni me da se poklónimь ná ĭdole	ʺMy father invites me even until now to bow to the idols.ʺ
55:	ʾi páki pitá go ʾoc̃ь;	And the father asked him again:
56:	kakóvь zanaʾjátь ʾučíšь čédo	ʺAnd what profession do you learn for?ʺ
57:	ʾá pan͛talei réče	And Pantaleon said:
58:	lekár͛stvo učímь čt̃nì ʾóč̃e	ʺI learn medicine, honorable father.ʺ
59:	ʾi réče ʾoc̃ь	And the father said:
60:	ʾw čédo pan͛talee za štó tï e tébe tákovo ʾelin͛sko lekár͛stvo	ʺO Pantaleon, child, what would you have from this pagan medicine?ʺ
61:	wt tíja ʾelín͛ski lekáre ní edna pómoštь né ma	ʺThere is not a single help from those pagan doctors.ʺ
62:	verúvame čedo	ʺWe believe, o child.ʺ
63:	ʾi tója ʾefrosínь tvóĭ máĭstorь	ʺEven that Euphrosynus, your master.ʺ
64:	ʾi wt négo mála nékoja síla ʾi pómoštь móžatь da sotvóratь bol͛nomu	ʺEven from him (there is) little power and help (which) can be done to an ill one.ʺ
65:	ní ednà pómoštь né ma wt ʾelín͛ski vračéve	ʺThere is not a single help from pagan doctors.ʺ
66:	nó ĭ tíja bógove što gi počíta cr̃ь ni za ʾedna potréba ne su	ʺBut also the gods, whom the Emperor worships, are of no use.ʺ
67:	tь´kmo ʾednà prelь´stь	ʺJust one deception.ʺ
68:	ʾi kóĭto su bézúmni tíă gi verujutь	ʺAnd those, who are mindless, believe in them.ʺ
69:	ʾedínь e͒ bg̃ь naš ïi͂sь xr͒tósь	ʺOur God is one - Jesus Christ.ʺ
70:	réče ʾócь ʾer͛moláʾja	Father Hermolaus said:
71:	čédo pantalée takóvago bg̃a ʾako ʾimašь véruváti	ʺO Pantaleon, child, if you will believe in such a god,ʺ
	ʾi ʾwnь šte tébe daruváti dar͛bu sváka bólestь dá lekúvašь bézь bílki ʾi bézь; kórene	ʺthen he will grant you a gift to heal any illness without herbs or roots.ʺ
72:	vídiš͛ li čédo pan͛talée kolíka síla ʾíma nášь bg̃ь	ʺDo you see, o Pantaleon, child, how much power does our God have?ʺ
73:	svékakvi bólesti sásь ʾednà dúma ʾiscél͛va	ʺHe heals all the kinds of illnesses with one word.ʺ
74:	slépi prosvétuva	ʺHe enlightens the blind.ʺ
75:	nedúžni ʾwčístuva	ʺHe purifies the ill.ʺ
76:	xrómi ʾwzdravi	ʺHe heals the crippled.ʺ
77:	ʾi xodatь	ʺAnd they walked.ʺ
78:	súxo rúčni ʾiscél͛va	ʺHe heals the dry-handed.ʺ
79:	némi produmúvatь	ʺThe mute start to speak.ʺ
80:	na glúxi uši wtvára	ʺHe opens the ears of the deaf.ʺ
81:	wt čl̃véci bésove wtgón͛va	ʺHe chases the demons away from people.ʺ
82:	po lésno pésokь mor͛ski možešь ʾizbróĭti négoli čudesà xr͒tva	ʺYou can count the sand of the sea more easily than the miracles of the Christ.ʺ
83:	kogì ču pán͛taléĭ takvíva dúmi wt ʾer͛moláju ʾisplьní mu se srdce wt radostь	When Pantaleon heard such words from Hermolaus, his heart was filled with joy.
84:	ʾi pomísli kakò právo i ïstina mu réklь ʾóc͂ь	And he thought, that the father told him the truth.
85:	ʾi réče pan͛taléĭ	And Pantaleon said:
86:	ʾw´ mt̃i mʾója; míla čul͛ bexь wt tvói te usta takvíva sládki dúmi	ʺO my dear mother, if I had ever heard such sweet words from you!ʺ
87:	ʾi mlógo mólexь bg̃a da sí žíva	ʺAnd I prayed (to) God many times, so that you were alive,ʺ
	da mé prívedéšь na véru xr͒tóvu	ʺto bring me to the faith in Christ,ʺ
	da sè poklonimь ʾi ja kakvò se poklánjaše tì	ʺso that I, too, bow down, like you were doing,ʺ
	ʾi sákaše pómoštь wt négo	ʺand (as) you were asking him for help.ʺ
88:	ʾi utvrьdí se pan͛taléĭ na véru ʾi na ljubóvь xr͒tóvu	And Pantaleon strengthened himself in the faith and love for Christ.
89:	ʾi u ʾedínь dénь ʾide wt máĭstora svóegò	And one day he went from his master.
90:	ʾi naĭde ʾedno détište ná putь	And he found one child on the way.
91:	uxapála go źmía	A snake had (likely) bitten it.
92:	ʾi ležéše mrь´tvo	And it was laying dead.
93:	ʾi zmiʾjá ta ležì pri détište to	And the snake lays next to the child.
94:	kogì tova víde pán͛taléĭ prïide mu bg̃orazúmno	When Pantaleon saw that, he found it God-understanding (?)
95:	ʾi réče	And he said:
96:	da vídimь dalí su ʾistina tija dumi što mè e poučílь ʾóc͂ь ʾermolaja	ʺLet us see, whether the words, which Father Hermolaus told me, were true!ʺ
97:	da mì ʾisplь´ni xr͒tosь darbu [...] wt négo	ʺMay the Christ fulfills my gift (?) from him.ʺ
98:	ʾáko stáne tovà détište zdravo ʾáko ʾwživée ʾa elin͛ski lekáre da ʾumrátь	ʺIf the child becomes healthy, if it becomes alive, then may the pagan doctors die.ʺ
99:	ʾi ʾjá drugogo ne štémь večè poslušáti	ʺAnd I shall not listen to another one anymore.ʺ
100:	no tьkmo ʾoc͂a ʾer͛molaja	ʺ(I shall listen) only to Father Hermolaus!ʺ
101:	i da búdemь xr͒tianinь	ʺAnd may I will become a Christian!ʺ
102:	pomolí se bg̃u	He prayed to God.
103:	ʾi réče	And he said:
104:	vo ʾime xr͒tóvo da stáne détište žívo	ʺIn the name of Christ, may the child becomes alive!ʺ
105:	wx bž̃e čudesà tvoja	O God, your miracles!
106:	ʾi katò wt sь´nь stánu detište	And the child woke up as from a sleep.
107:	ʾwživè	It became alive.
108:	ʾi réče pan͛talea	And Pantaleon said:
109:	sagà poznáxь kakvomu bg̃u síl͛nomu štémь da sè poklánʾjamь	ʺNow I understood, how strong God I shall worship!ʺ
110:	ʾi skóro priïde prì dx͂óvnika ʾer͛molája	And he came soon to the priest Hermolaus.
111:	ʾi sákaše wt négo kr͛štenïe	And he wanted from him baptism,
	da gò krь´sti dx̃o st̃imь	to baptize him by the Holy Spirit.
112:	zaštò pan͛talei ʾi wtc͂ь ʾi maĭkja negóvi rodítele béxu ʾelíne	Because Pantaleon, and his father, and his mother, his parents, were pagans.
113:	kr͒tenì ʾie béxu	They were not baptized.
114:	ʾi nauči ʾóc̃ь pan͛taléju kakvo da veruva i kakvo da drьži čt͒otà ʾi da pósti	And the father (Hermolaus) taught Pantaleon how to believe, and how to stay pure and to fast.
115:	ʾi kr͒ti go	And he baptized him.
116:	ʾi pričésti go bž͒estvéni táĭnь	And he gave him the divine Eucharist.
117:	ʾi po nekol͛ko dní ʾótide pan͛taléi pri baštú si	And after some days, Pantaleon went to his father.
118:	ʾi pitá go baštá mu	And his father asked him:
119:	kude si bílь tolíko vréme	ʺWhere have you been so long?ʺ
120:	ʾá wnь réče	And he said:
121:	edinь čl͂vekь cr̃evь ugódnik ʾjáko béše zapádnulь u bólestь zlù	ʺOne man, a king's retainer, fell badly ill.ʺ
122:	ʾi ne wstavíxa méne ʾi máistora moégo [e]frosína	ʺAnd they did not let me and my master Euphrosynus (go).ʺ
123:	zadrь´žáxa ni dogdè ʾwzdráve čl͂véko	ʺThey held us, until the man was healthy.ʺ
124:	takóĭ réče pri baštu si pan͛taléĭ	Thus spoke Pantaleon by his father.
125:	ʾá kogì ʾōtíde pri máistora si ʾefrosína ʾi ʾwn͛ go pità	And as he went to master Euphrosynus, he asked him, too:
126:	kudé si bílь tol͛kova dnì	ʺWhere have you been so long?ʺ
127:	ʾá onь mu réče	And he said to him:
128:	ʾoc̃ь móĭ kupílь ʾedna čúdna níva	ʺMy father bought a wonderful acre.ʺ
129:	ʾi predáde ju méne	ʺAnd he gave it to me.ʺ
130:	i ja dogdè náidoxь; čl̃véci	ʺAnd until I found people,ʺ
	da ju prédadémь	ʺso that I gave it over (to them),ʺ

131:	Vídité li xr͒tiani	Do you see, o Christians?
132:	čuete li kakóvь rázumь dáde bg̃ь pan͛taleju	Do you hear, how much intelligence God gave to Pantaleon,
	kakvò se doséti da skríe st̃oe krьšténïe zaradì st̃oe pričašténïe	how he found out, how to hide the holy baptism and (lit. because of?) the Eucharist?
133:	ʾi jako ʾimaše goléma gríža pantalea	And Pantaleon had a big worry,
	kakvó bi privél͛ ʾi ʾoc̃a svoego	how to bring his father too,
	da poznae ʾi ʾonь ʾistinágo bg̃a	so that he would know the True God too.
134:	ʾi réče pan͛taléĭ	And Pantaleon said:
135:	ʾóče koi bg̃ove stanáxu právo	ʺO father, which gods stood up straight?ʺ
136:	i nikakvo ne sednáxu	ʺAnd they did not sit?ʺ
137:	ʾi kóĭ sednáxu	ʺAnd which sat?ʺ
138:	i nikakvo ne mogóxu da stánutь	ʺAnd they could not stand up?ʺ
139:	ʾi õcь ne možè ni málo da mu wtrečè	And the father could not answer him a bit.
140:	nitì možè da sé seti	Nor could he understand it.
141:	no po nekol͛ko dnì fanu dá mrázi bógove te svóĭ	But, after a couple of days, he began to hate his gods.
142:	ʾi pan͛taléĭ štéše da sakruši sví te ʾidolè	And Pantaleon was going to destroy all the idols.
143:	no né štejà dá ʾwskrь´bi ʾoc͂a svóʿego	But he did not want to make his father sad.
144:	tь´kmo sákaše sásь dúma da go ʾwbrь´ne na véru ʾi da verúva v͛ xr͒ta	He wanted only to convert him to the (Christian) faith with a word, and him to believe in Christ.
145:	ʾi sásь bž̃ïemь povelénïemь ʾi sasь čudesa svoę` privéde pan͛taleja ʾoc̃a svoégo	And by the God's command and with his own miracles, Pantaleon brought his father (to the Christian faith).
146:	ʾi pozna bl̃gočéstie †	And he recognized the (true) piety.
147:	ʾi va tója dénь privédoxu ednógo čl̃véka slépago u dómь pʾán͛taléwvь	And one day they brought a blind man to the Pantaleon's house.
148:	i potropáxu na vráta	And they knocked on the door.
149:	ʾi pitáxu	And they asked:
150:	tuka lï e pan͛teléi celébnikь	ʺIs there Pantaleon the Healer?ʺ
151:	kogí ču st̃i; tóʾjá glásь	When the saint heard that voice,
	prizovà ʾóca svóego	he called his father,
	da vídi i wnь	so that he could see it too,
	kakvò šte da wtgovóri pan͛taléja	how Pantaleon will respond.
152:	pita st̃i slépca	The saint asked the blind one:
153:	po kojù potrébu doʾídox͛te	ʺFor what need did you come?ʺ
154:	réče slepécь	The blind one said:
155:	žálimь toʾjá st̃ь da go vídimь dobrovol͛ni vráču	ʺI crave to see this world, pious doctor.ʺ
156:	tébe se mólimь	ʺI pray you.ʺ
157:	ʾisceli me da prózremь	ʺHeal me, so that I can see!ʺ
158:	zaštò wt slepotà né ĭma d(rug)a núžda po téška	ʺFor there is no other, more dire problem than blindness.ʺ
159:	pomílu me ʾwkajanago	ʺBe merciful to the poor me!ʺ
160:	zaštó se mnógo vráčove ʾwbrékoxu da me ʾiscélatь	ʺFor many doctors vowed to heal me.ʺ
161:	ʾi ne mogóxu	ʺAnd they could not.ʺ
162:	no ʾi wšte što imax st̃ь sásь níxno lekúvane pogubíx͛ go	ʺBut furthermore I lost that, what light (sight) I had.ʺ
163:	ʾi ʾwstaxь do kon͛ca slépь ʾwkaʾjáni	ʺAnd I became totally blind, a poor one.ʺ
164:	ʾi réče st̃i pan͛taléĭ slépcu	And St. Pantaleon said to the blind man:
165:	sve tvóe ʾiménïe na vračéve si razdálь	ʺYou gave away all your property to doctors.ʺ
166:	ʾi ne sì polučílь ʾiscelénïe	ʺAnd you did not receive healing.ʺ
167:	ʾá ja da tè ʾiscélim͛ što xóčeš͛ mi dáti	ʺAnd, be it I heal you, what would you give me?ʺ
168:	réče slepécь	The blind man said:
169:	što mí e ʾwstálo u mói dómь potréba tebe své da gò dadémь	ʺI shall give you everything, whatever needed had remained in my house.ʺ
170:	réče st̃i	The saint said:
171:	tvoi ʾóči xóče ʾistini bg̃ь ʾiscelíti sás͛ méne	ʺThe True God will heal your eyes with me.ʺ
172:	ʾá što sì rék͛lь da mì dadéšь dar rádi ʾiscelenïe	ʺAnd that, what you have said to give me as a gift for the healing,ʺ
	idi razdái go na siromási;	ʺgo (and) distribute it to the poor!ʺ
173:	táko réče pan͛talea	Thus spoke Pantaleon:
174:	nadam se na xr͒tà moégo	ʺI put my hope on my Christ.ʺ
175:	ʾá oc͂ь negóvь číneše mu se sásь bíl͛ki ʾilì sa͒ néšto štè da gò pomáže da gò ʾiscéli	And it seemed to his father, that he would smear him with herbs or something to heal him.
176:	ʾi réče mu ʾóc͂ь	And his father said:
177:	ne nafaštaĭ se čédo da ʾizьlekuvašь togóva človéka	ʺDo not hope to heal that man, o child!ʺ
178:	če štéšь da sè zasrámišь wt t(vo)egó máistora ʾi wt drugi lekáre po véšti	ʺFor you will put yourself to shame before your master and, even more, before the other, more knowleadgeable doctors.ʺ
179:	tol͛ko wt ni véšti lékare ne možéxu da gò ʾizlekúvatь	ʺSo many (more) knowledgeable doctors than us were unable to heal him!ʺ
180:	ta ti li šteš nego da ʾiscélišь	ʺAnd you (think that you) are going to heal him?ʺ
181:	réče pan͛taléĭ bašte si	Pantaleon said to his father:
182:	ʾóč̃e drúgi ne móže da íscel͛va kato ʾjá	ʺO father, others cannot heal like me.ʺ
183:	zaštò e móĭ máĭstorь nadi sví te po lekarь	ʺBecause my master is a better healer than all of them.ʺ
184:	ʾá bašté mu se pomneše če za maʾistora si ʾefrosína dúma	And his father thought, that he meant Euphrosynus to be his master.
185:	paki mu réče ʾóc͂ь	Again, his father said:
186:	čédo ne falí se sásь tvoégo máistora	ʺO child, do not boast about your master!ʺ
187:	če ʾja smь čulь wt slep͛ca če ʾi pri nʾégo e xódilь	ʺFor I have heard from the blind man, that he went to him too,ʺ
	ʾi wnь ne možélь dá go ʾiscéli	ʺand he was (supposedly) unable to heal him too.ʺ
188:	réče st̃i	The saint said:
189:	glédai ʾóče ʾi sam	ʺO father, observe by yourself,ʺ
	da vídišь čudesà bž̃ïa	ʺso that you see the miracles of God,ʺ
	ʾi da verúvašь ʾistinago xr͒tà	ʺand so that you believe in the True Christ.ʺ
190:	táko réče st̃i	Thus spoke the saint.
191:	ʾi próstre svojù desnícu	And he stretched his right hand.
192:	sótvori čt̃nago kr͒ta na õči slépago	And he did a (sign of) True Cross over the eyes of the blind man.
193:	ʾi reče	And he said:
194:	vó ĭme ïis͒a x͒a sína bž̃ia	ʺIn the name of Jesus Christ, Son of God!ʺ
195:	ʾedínь čas͛ mu se wtvrьzáxu ʾoči te	In one moment, his eyes were unbound.
196:	ʾi progledà	And he started to see.
197:	ʾi tóĭ pover͛va u (toja) časь vь xr͒ta	And he started to believe in Christ in that moment.
198:	ʾá ne tokò slepec	And not only the blind man,
	no ʾi drugi mlozina pover͛vaxu vь xr͒ta	but also many others started to believe in Christ.
199:	zaštò slepeco béše ʾelínecь	Because the blind man was previously a pagan.
200:	ʾi kato go ʾisceli pan͛taléi a ʾwnь poveruva sa svè srdce iï͒sa xr͒tà	And as Pantaleon healed him, he believed in Jesus Christ with all his heart.
201:	pósle ʾi oc͂ь; st̃omu pan͛taleju pover͛va sa svè srdce ʾi onь vь xr͒tà	Afterwards, also the father of St. Pantaleon believed in Christ with all of his heart.
202:	togíva se zarádva st̃i rádi ʾóc͂a svóego	The the saint rejoiced about his father,
	če gò privede na ĭstinu véru	that he brought him to the true faith.
203:	ʾi viknu sásь golémь glásь	And he called with a strong voice.

212:	togíva st̃i razdáde svè bogátastvo baštino si na siromási	Then the saint distributed all the wealth of his father to the poor.
213:	ʾi mlógo čudesà tvóreše na sváka dénь	And he was performing miracles every day.
214:	ʾi po svudé se proču negóvo slávno ʾime	And his glorious name became famous everywhere.
215:	ʾi wt daléko prixódexu bol͛ni za ìscelenïe	And the ill were coming from far away for healing.
216:	ʾi st̃i popitaše gi napredь	And the saint was asking them at first:
217:	kóĭ xoče da pover͛va vь xr͒ta da gò ʾiscelimь	ʺHim, who will believe in Christ, I shall heal.ʺ
218:	ʾi níšto mu ne uzimamь zaplatà	ʺAnd I shall take nothing as the pay.ʺ
219:	ʾi kóĭ ne šte da verúva xr͒tà ʾi ja ne štemь négo da iscélimь	ʺAnd I will not heal the one, who will not believe in Christ.ʺ
220:	ʾi u edínь dénь sedéxu po trь´gu sví te lekáre	And one day the all doctors sat on the marketplace.
221:	ʾi pominu po krai ix i slepéco što go ʾisceli st̃i pan͛taléja	And next to them passed the blind man, whom St. Pantaleon healed.
222:	ʾi dumaxu si meždu sébe	And they spoke among themselves:
223:	ne lí e tója slepecь štotò nie ne možéxme da gò ʾisь`celime	ʺIs that not the blind man, whom we we were unable to heal?ʺ

339:	ʾi počéxu da se molatь na svóĭ bg̃ove	And they began to pray to their gods.
340:	ʾednógo bóga zovèxu vaálь	One god they called Baal.
341:	ʾá drúgogo žév͛ga	Another (they called) Zeus (?)
342:	ʾá trétago ʾáskípïa	And a third one (they called) Asclepius.

359:	gd͒i b̃e móĭ vsè mogi ʾi vse sil͛ni uslíši gd͒i molenïe moè	ʺO Lord, my God, omnipotent and all-powerful, listen, o Lord, to my prayer!ʺ

364:	ʾi fánu ból͛nago za ruku	And he took the ill man by the hand.

372:	kogì vidóxu elíne če sè sovrьši takóvo čúdo mnózina veruvàxu vь ʾistinago bg̃a	When the pagans saw, that such a miracle happened, many believed in the True God.
373:	ʾi popóve te ʾidol͛ski ʾwstánuxu ne ver͛ni za lьžà	And the priests of idols remained faithless for their deception.

375:	ʾi rekóxu cr̃u	And they said to the Emperor:
376:	zaklínjamo te za velíki náši bg̃ove da nè ʾwstáviš pan͛taleju ni edínь čásь žívь da búde	ʺWe adjure you in the (name of) our great gods to not leave Pantaleon alive for a single moment!ʺ
377:	ʾáko li táko ne sotvórišь skóro xóčešь da pogíbne(š)	ʺIf you will not do so, you shall die soon.ʺ
378:	i naša véra	ʺAnd our faith (shall die soon too).ʺ

421:	ʾi réče golémь kámikь da privéžu st̃omu na šïju	And he said (a command) to bind a big stone on his neck.
422:	ʾi metnaxu go u móre	And they threw him into the sea.
423:	ʾi togiva mu se ʾjávi xr͒tósь	And then the Christ appeared to him.
424:	ʾi teš͛ki kámikь ʾjavi se st̃omu lékь katò lísь	And the heavy stone appeared to the saint as light as a leaf.
425:	ʾi plívaše st̃i po vrьxь vódu	And the saint floated on the top of the water.
426:	ʾizleze žívь ná zémlju	He came out alive on the earth.
427:	kogí go vidè cr̃ь počudi se	When the Emperor saw him, he was amazed.

429:	pan͛taleja ʾi more sásь magïi zapira	ʺPantaleon stops even the sea with his magic!ʺ
430:	pan͛taléa réče	Pantaleon said:
431:	w͒ bezúmni cr̃u kóĭ go e sotvorílь, ʾwn͛ gw zapíra	ʺO mindless Emperor, he who has created, he stops it.ʺ
432:	ne vídiš li bezúmniče	ʺDon't you see, o mindless one?ʺ
433:	ne možé li da poznáešь ʾistinu xr͒tóvu ʾw pomračéni cr̃u ʾi ne ukróteni źvéru	ʺCan't you understand the truth of Christ, o darkened Emperor and untamed beast?ʺ

435:	privedéte ljúti źvérove	ʺBring fierce beasts!ʺ

437:	vídiš͛ li pan͛talée tiʾja ljúti źvérove;	ʺDo you see, o Pantaleon, those fierce beasts?ʺ
438:	za tébe su privédeni	ʺThey are brought for you.ʺ

445:	tolíko pómoštь vidóxь wt bg̃a moegò	ʺI saw so much help from my God!ʺ
446:	nikogi da ne pomíslišь cr̃u da početémь tvóĭ; bógove	ʺYou should never think that I will respect your gods!ʺ
447:	zaštó me plášišь sásь tvóĭ zverove	ʺWhy do you (try to) scare me with your beasts?ʺ
448:	kóĭ umrьtvì vóĭnomь rúce	ʺWho made the hands of the soldiers dead?ʺ
449:	kóĭ ʾistudi kipélo ʾólovo	ʺWho froze the boiling lead?ʺ
450:	kóĭ présuši; more	ʺWho made the sea dry?ʺ
451:	ʾw bezúmniče ʾónь šte ʾi tia divì ʾi ljuti źvérove ukróti da stánutь katò ʾjágneta	ʺO mindless one, he shall make those wild and fierce beasts, too, tame as lambs!ʺ
452:	ʾi ne pokorí se cr̃u xr͒tóvь strástotrь´pecь pan͛talea	And the martyr of Christ Pantaleon did not submit to the Emperor.
453:	no ʾizvoli da sè predadétь na divì źvéri negolì dá se poklóni bésu	And he chose rather to be given to wild beasts than to bow to the demons.
454:	povelè cr̃ь	The Emperor commanded,
	do trí dni ʾáko se ne poklóni na ĭdole	if after three days he would not bow to the idols,
	da gò frьlatь prédь źvérove te	to be thrown in front of the beasts,
	da go ʾizedútь	to be eaten.
455:	kakvó se ču takáva duma dočuxa ʾelíne	As such a word was heard, the pagans heard it.
456:	sьbra se vésь grádь ʾi drugi séla ʾi gradove	(And) the whole city and other villages and cities assembled,
	da vídatь kakvo štatь da izedutь źvérove pan͛taleju	to see, how the beasts will eat Pantaleon.
457:	kogí se zbra tol͛kova narodь na sobórište síréčь na seĭrь togíva ʾi samь cr̃ь prïide	When so much people assembled at the tribunes (?), then the Emperor himself came too.
458:	ʾi sede na visóko mésto	And he sat on a high ground.
459:	ʾi povele da privedutь st̃ago u srédь lь´vove te	And he commanded to bring the saint into the middle of the lions.
460:	ʾá wnь ʾideše kamto naróda	And he went towards the people.
461:	ʾi vide pred͛ sebe xr͒tà	And he saw the Christ in front of him.
462:	ʾi tvrь´deše mù srdce da sè ne bóĭ	And he hardened his heart, so that he does not fear.

464:	ʾi luge pláčexu ʾi žálexu za négo	And people cried and were sad for him.
465:	ʾi dumáxu	And they said:
466:	kakóvь mom͛kь xúbavь ʾi mládь	ʺHow beautiful and young boy!ʺ
467:	xóčatь da go ʾizedutь źvérove te	ʺAnd the beasts will eat him!ʺ
468:	kogí go ʾwstavixu u srédь źvérove te pokaza bg̃ь goléma čudesà	When they placed him in the middle of the beasts, God showed great miracles.
469:	ʾwnia źvérove stanáxu krot͛ki katò ʾjágnьca	Those beasts became tame as lambs.
470:	ʾi ne smeʾjáxu dà počь´knatь st̃ágo	And they did not dare to touch the saint.
471:	no stojáxu pri négo ne kato divì źvérove	But they stood next to him not like wild beasts.
472:	ʾi máxaxu sásь ʾwpaš͛ki	And they wagged their tails.
473:	ʾi lížexu krot͛ko st̃omu noze te	And they tamely licked the saint's feet.
474:	kogì vidóxu takóvo čúdo ljúdie kol͛ko možéxu viknáxu	When the people saw such a miracle, they cried as much as they could:
475:	velíki e͒ bg̃ь xr͒tiʾán͛ski	ʺThe god of Christians is great!ʺ
476:	ʾi proslavlénь da búde	ʺMay he be praised!ʺ
477:	páki cr̃ь se ʾw´skrьbi	The Emperor became sad again.
478:	če ʾi zveróve te ne ʾizedoxu svetágo	Because (not) even the beasts ate the saint.
479:	ʾi réče	And he said, (...)
480:	ta ʾizbíxu zverove te	And they slaughtered the beasts.
481:	ʾi zasrámí se cr̃ь	And the Emperor became ashamed.
482:	ʾi reče	And he said:
483:	ʾednò kolo da ukáčite na visóko mésto	ʺRaise a wheel on a high place!ʺ
484:	ʾi da vrь´žete pan͛taleju na koló to	ʺAnd bind Pantaleon on the wheel!ʺ
485:	ʾi da gò puštite wt visóko dà se razdróbi po máli čьt͒i teló to mu	ʺAnd let him (fall) from a height, so that his body will be pulverized into small pieces!ʺ
486:	ʾá bg̃ь ne ʾwstav͛lja svóĭ ugódnici da teglat mlógo zlò	But God does not leave His followers to suffer a lot of evil.
487:	ʾi vrьzaxu st̃ágo	And they bound the saint.
488:	ʾi puštíxu koló to	And they let the wheel fall.
489:	wtvrьzá se mč̃níkь	The martyr unbound himself.
490:	i wtletè kolo to nadóle	And the wheel flew down.
491:	ʾi mlogo ʾelíne poguvì što se bexu zbráli da glédatь	And it killed many pagans, who had assembled to watch.
492:	togíva cr̃ь wt zlo ne ma véče što da stóri	Then the Emperor did not have anything more to do from evil.
493:	nelo privéde st̃ago	So he brought the saint.
494:	ʾi réče mu	And he said to him:
495:	dokógi takiva ráboti da tvórišь	ʺUntil when are you (going) to do such things?ʺ
496:	dokógi da smuštáeši naróda	ʺUntil when are you (going) to stir the people?ʺ
497:	radi tebè kolíko čl͂véci pobíʾeni bíša	ʺSo many people were slaughtered because of you!ʺ
498:	edni ʾuvívašь	ʺYou kill one,ʺ
499:	drúgi prel͛štávašь	ʺothers you deceive.ʺ
500:	ʾi stajat nenavístnici na bógove te náši ʾi protívnici na cr̃̂tvo moè	ʺAnd they become haters of our gods and enemies of my kingdom.ʺ
501:	ʾi pitá go cr̃ь	And the Emperor asked him.
502:	ʾi réče	And he said:
503:	pan͛talée právo kaží mi	ʺO Pantaleon, tell me truly:ʺ
504:	kói te nauči da verúešь xr͒ta	ʺWho taught you to believe in Christ?ʺ
505:	ʾá st̃i právo: kaza ʾemù	And the saint said truly.
506:	ʾi réče	And he said:
507:	ʾima ʾedínь prezvíterь	ʺThere is a priest.ʺ
508:	ʾime mu e ʾérmolája	ʺHis name is Hermolaus.ʺ
509:	povelè cr̃ь dá ĭde st̃i da pokáže na vóĭne te mestó to kadé se; kríeše st̃i ʾer͛molája	The Emperor commanded the saint, to go and show the soldiers the place, where St. Hermolaus was hiding.
510:	ʾá st̃i pan͛taléĭ sásь radostь ʾōtide	And St. Pantaleon went with joy.
511:	ʾi pokazà	And he showed (the place).
512:	ʾi tíja trì vóĭne što vódexu st̃ago potrópaxu na vráta	And the three soldiers, who led the saint, knocked on the door.
513:	ʾi izléze st̃i ʾer͛molája	And St. Hermolaus went out.
514:	ʾi wttvori vráta	And he opened the door.
515:	ʾi réče	And he said:
516:	dobrè došélь ʾesì čédo	ʺYou are welcome, o child.ʺ
517:	kakvo sí se potrúdilь do túka	ʺWhy did you make yourself worry (to come) here?ʺ
518:	ʾi wnь réče	And he said:
519:	cr̃ь tè zovè dá ĭdešь pri négo	ʺThe Emperor summons you to come to him.ʺ
520:	ʾi ʾer͛molája réče	And St. Hermolaus said:
521:	ʾi ʾja znáemь poštó me zovè:	ʺI know, too, why he calls me.ʺ
522:	čé mi sámь xr͒tósь pokazà	ʺFor the Christ Himself showed me,ʺ
	če mí se e príbližílo vréme	ʺthat the time has come closer,ʺ
	dá ĭdemь pri négo	ʺto go to Him.ʺ
523:	ʾi kogì prïide prí cr̃a pitá go	And as he came to the Emperor, he asked him:
524:	kakvó tí e ʾime	ʺWhat is your name?ʺ
525:	ʾá ʾimaš li pri sébe drúgi xr͒tiăne	ʺAnd do you have other Christians at your place?ʺ
526:	ʾá w´nь mu ʾjáko právo kazà	And he told him very truly:
527:	ʾime moe ʾer͛molája	ʺMy name (is) Hermolaus.ʺ
528:	ʾi ʾimamь drúgi dvà drugára	ʺAnd I have other two friends.ʺ
529:	ʾednomú e ʾime ʾer͛mokrátь	ʺFirst one's name is Hermocrates.ʺ
530:	ʾá drúgomu ʾér͛mipónь	ʺAnd the other one's - Hermippus.ʺ

532:	ʾi níxь privédoxu	And they brought them.
533:	ʾi pitá gi cr̃ь	And the Emperor asked them:
534:	vïe li ste prel͛stíli pan͛talea	ʺDid you have deceived Pantaleon?ʺ
535:	tá ne štè da se poklóni na náši velíki bógove	ʺSo that he does not want to bow to our great gods.ʺ

537:	xr͒tósь prizóvuva koʾi su dostóini ʾi ʾizrédni ʾi iz͛bráni	ʺThe Christ calls (those), who are worthy, and orderly, and chosen.ʺ

539:	ʾwstavéte tíʾja blédi ʾi ne potrebni dúmi	ʺStop those pale and unnecessary words!ʺ
540:	ʾi slúšaite moę` dúma	ʺAnd hear my word!ʺ
541:	ʾeláte svì záedno sásь méne da prinèseme ʾwp͛štu ml͂tvu na bógove te	ʺLet us all go, together with me, to bring a prayer to the gods together!ʺ
542:	ʾi togíva xóčemь dá ĭmamь vásь móĭ vér͛ni ljúdie	ʺAnd then I shall have you as my loyal subjects.ʺ
543:	ʾi mlógo xóčemь vásь dá početem	ʺAnd I will give you many honors.ʺ
544:	ʾi mlógo dárь vásь da darúvamь	ʺAnd I will give you many gifts.ʺ
545:	ʾá st̃i rékoxu	But the saints said:
546:	ne štè da búde tovà cr̃u	ʺThis shall not be.ʺ
547:	ne štéme nïę da zagubíme dš̃u nášu	ʺWe don't want to lose our soul(s).ʺ
548:	takovi rázumь ʾimámo mie xr͒tíăni	ʺWe, Christians, have such a reasoning.ʺ
549:	podь mnógo múki da ʾumremo xr͒tà rádi	ʺTo die under many tortures for the sake of Christ.ʺ
550:	táko rekóxu st̃i	Thus spoke the saints.
551:	ʾi dignáxu rúce svóĭ na nébo	And they raised their hands towards the heaven.
552:	ʾi pomolíxu se dá ĭmь práti bg̃ь pómoštь	And they prayed, so that God sends them help.
553:	ʾi jávï im͛ se bg̃ь	And God appeared to them.
554:	ʾi potrése zemljù	And He shook the earth.
555:	ʾi bezьʾumni cr̃ь máѯimiănь réče	And the mindless Emperor Maximian said:
556:	videxte li kakvò ne možéxu da trьputь náši bógove váše xulénïe	ʺDid you see, how our gods cannot suffer your blasphemy?ʺ
557:	ʾi rasrьdíxu se na vásь	ʺAnd they became angry with you!ʺ
558:	ʾi zaradь tovà bógove potrésoxu zém͛lju	ʺAnd because of that the gods shook the earth.ʺ
559:	ʾi réče ʾer͛molája	And Hermolaus said:
560:	víšь cr̃u da ne búdutь pádnuli na zémlju	ʺO Emperor, make sure they are not fallen to the ground!ʺ
561:	pa togava rečì če sù ʾwnì potrésli zémlju:	ʺThen say, that they shook the earth!ʺ
562:	wšte ne béše ʾizdumalь ʾer͛molája	Hermolaus did not even finish the word.

565:	cr̃u na mnóga léta žívь búdi	ʺO Emperor, may you live for many years!ʺ
566:	sví te bógove popadáxu	ʺAll the gods have fallen!ʺ
567:	ʾi po máli čt͒i sasìpáxu se	ʺAnd they fell apart into small pieces!ʺ
568:	ʾi ʾónïa st̃ci podsmejàxu se	And the saints laughed (at them).
569:	ʾi rékoxu	And they said:
570:	tolíka li síla ʾimaxu bógove ʾi potrésoxu zémlju	ʺSo much power did the gods have, (that) they shook the earth?ʺ
571:	ʾá poštò padnáxu	ʺSo why they did fell?ʺ
572:	ne rázumni cr̃ь ʾi ne smísleni mučítelь povelè	The unwise Emperor and senseless tormentor gave a command.
573:	ʾi posékoxu trí st̃ci	And they killed the three saints.
574:	ʾi česnïa níx͛ni móšti nóštemь ukradnáxu xr͒tiăni	And the Christians stole their honorable relics in the night.
575:	ʾi pogréboxa gi čt͒no	And they buried them honorably.
576:	ʾi paki prizvà cr̃ь st̃ágo pan͛taléa	And again, the Emperor summoned St. Pantaleon.
577:	[zrí lžu cr͂vu]	[sidenote] Behold, the Emperor's deception!
578:	ʾi réče mu	And he said to him:
579:	tvóĭ učítelь ʾer͛molája ʾi družina ta mu razuméxu što e bilò po dobro na tʾója st̃ь	ʺYour teacher Hermolaus and his company understood, what is better in this world.ʺ
580:	ʾi prinesoxu ml͒tvu bogómь;	ʺAnd they brought a prayer to the gods.ʺ
581:	ʾi ja nix početoxь kakvóto si trébuvaše	ʺAnd I honored them, as it was due to them.ʺ
582:	ʾi tì pan͛talée ʾáko poslúšašь moè povelenïe da sè poklónišь na ʾidole mlogo: dar͛bu štem͛ te darúva	ʺYou too, o Pantaleon, if you obey my command and bow to the idols, I will grant you many gifts.ʺ
583:	ʾáko li me ne poslušašь ne štéšь da izbégnešь wt rúke móĭ	ʺIf you don't obey me, you will not run away from my hands.ʺ
584:	ʾi xóčešь da ʾumrešь wt gor͛ki samrь´tь .:	ʺAnd you shall die a bitter death.ʺ
585:	pan͛taléa réče,	Pantaleon said:
586:	cr̃u pokaží mi ʾer͛molaju ʾi družína ta mu	ʺO Emperor, show me Hermolaus and his company!ʺ

590:	dor͛ь sь´ga lь´žešь cr̃u	ʺAnd now you lie, o Emperor!ʺ
591:	ʾi za drúgo právo kážešь	ʺBut otherwise you speak truly,ʺ
	če sí gi pratílь ná gorni ʾier͒lmь prí bg͂a	ʺfor you sent them to the heavenly Jerusalem to God.ʺ
592:	ʾá zlomísal͛ni cr̃ь povelè da gò bíjutь sásь toʾjági	And the evil-minded Emperor commanded them to beat him with clubs.
593:	ʾi kolíko béše bítь	And he was beaten so much.
594:	kolíko ne móže dš̃u da sì pódьʾémnè	So much (that) he could not assemble his soul (?) anymore.
595:	ʾi wt ʾjadь réče	And he said from the anger,
	ʾi négo da posečútь	to kill him, too,
	ʾi da mù ʾizgóratь teló to ná ʾógn͛ь	and to burn his body in fire.
596:	ʾi kogi povédoxu vóĭne st̃ago da gò posečutь † goléma mu rádostь prïide	And when the soldiers came to kill the saint, a great joy came to him.
597:	ʾi paki; pótrusi se zémlę	And the earth shook again.
598:	ʾi vrьzáxu st̃ago za; maslíčno drь´vo	And they bound the saint to an olive tree.
599:	ʾi zamáx͛nu ʾédínь voinь da gò posečè	And a soldier waved (the sword) to kill him.
600:	ʾizvi se ʾóstrò žilézo	And the sharp iron twisted.
601:	ʾi voin wt stráxь katò zaidé mu pámetь	And the soldier (was shocked?) by fear, (as much) as his mind was blown.
602:	ʾi réče	And he said:
603:	ʾi ja verúemь če è xr͒tósь ʾistíni bg͂ь;	ʺI believe, too, that the Christ is the True God!ʺ
604:	i uzé venécь ʾi tóĭ	And he took the wreaths (of a martyr) too.
605:	ʾi stánu bl̃gočestívь.	And he became pious.
606:	ʾi paki réče pan͛taléa na vóĭne te	And Pantaleon said again to the soldiers:
607:	sotvoréte povelénïe cr̃evo	ʺFulfill the Emperor's command!ʺ
608:	ʾi ʾwni véče ne smeʾjaxu da dígnutь rúku na st̃agw	And they did not dare to raise a hand against the saint anymore.
609:	nelo mù celováxu vóĭne te nozé te	And the soldiers kissed his feet.
610:	ʾi mlógo mílosь sotvorixu sásь négo;	And they had (lit. made) much mercy with him.
611:	ʾi pósle mu wtsekóxu čt͒nuju glávu	And then they cut off his honorable head.
612:	ʾi sotvoríxu povelénïe cr̃evo	And they fulfilled the Emperor's command.
613:	i gdéto béše vrьzanь st̃i za maslíčno to drьvo tamo posékoxu st̃ago	And they killed the saint on the place, where the saint was bound to the olive tree.
614:	namésto krь´vь ʾizidè mléko	Milk came out instead of blood.
615:	ʾi wnóva drьvo u ʾw´nja čásь ʾispol͛ní se sásь róž͛ba	And the tree was filled in that moment with fruit.
616:	kakvò ču cr̃ь ʾi za drьvó to	When the Emperor heard about the tree,
	povelè da gò wtsečutь	he commanded to cut it down,
	da ne bí se ʾi wt drьvó to storílo nékoja čudésa	so that no (more) miracles would happen on (lit. from) the tree.
617:	ʾi uzéxu; xr͒tíăni čt͒níe móšti st̃omu	And the Christians took the honorable relics of the saint.
618:	ʾi zanésoxu gi na grádь ʾádamanь	And they brought it to the city of Adaman.

622:	táko dlь´žni ʾesmì ʾi mie da ver͛vame ʾi da praznúvame	Thus we, too, are obliged to believe and to celebrate.
623:	sega ná tíja vrémena ne ĭma ʾelínski cr͂ove da mučatь za véra	Now, in these times there are no pagan emperors to torture for faith.
624:	nelò da se pod͛kanime da ugodime bg̃u	So let us resolve to be pleasant to God,
	da ne zamínuvatь naši dni ʾi gódini ʾi sь´vь živótь nášь sásь: gréxь	so that our days and years and the whole life will not pass in sin.
625:	da nè ugódvame vrágu	Let us not be pleasant to the Enemy!
626:	no da budemo čísti sásь télo ʾi sásь dš̃u	But let us be pure in body and soul!

628:	ʾi da drьžíme véru kakvo ʾwbíče xr͒tósь ʾi svì st̃i	But let us uphold the faith, as the Christ and all the saints like!

	da ni sè ródi	so that (the earth) gives us fruit,
	ʾi dьžь blágь vь svóè vréme da nì dadè bg̃ь	and that God gives us good rain in its time.
631:	ʾi wt sví stráni da ni dade bg̃ь pómoštь	And may God gives us help from all sides.
632:	ʾi da smo se zabávili	And let us have spent some time!
633:	zašto nïę pokazaxme u st̃oe pisanïe nekolíko reči	Because we showed some words in the holy scripture.
634:	zʾáradi tova ne štè bg̃ь násь da sudi	God will not judge because of that.
