| 9: | ʾi vidè vrága | And he saw the devil. | 
| 10: | ʾide po putь | He went on a road. | 
| 11: | ʿi igra | And he was dancing. | 
| 12: | ʾi pitá go ʾoc̃ь | And the father asked him: | 
| 13: | wt kudè ʾidešь vráže právedni | ʺWhere are you going from, o honorable devil?ʺ | 
| 14: | ʾá vrágь réče | And the devil said: | 
| 15: | ʾizь múku véčnuju ʾidémь | ʺI am going from the Eternal Torment.ʺ | 
| 16: | pratil͛ me e nášь góspodarь za nékoju potrébu | ʺOur lord has sent me for something needed.ʺ | 
| 17: | ʾá kóĭ e váš gospodárь | ʺAnd who is your lord?ʺ | 
| 18: | ʾóc̃ь réče | ...the father said. | 
| 19: | ʾá diavolь káže | And the devil said: | 
| 20: | vel͛zavúlь e ʾóc̃ь nášь | ʺBeelzebub is our father.ʺ | 
| 21: | páki pitá go ʾócь | The father asked him again: | 
| 22: | ʾá za kóju potrébu ʾidešь vráže právedni | ʺAnd for what need are you going, o honorable devil?ʺ | 
| 23: | kaží mi | ʺTell me!ʺ | 
| 24: | ʾá vrágь réče | And the devil said: | 
| 25: | ʾidem da menúvamь da váža zláto za séno | ʺI am going to trade, to weigh gold for hay.ʺ |

| 27: | ʾi dávamь marьgarítь za šuma | ʺAnd I give pearls for fallen leaves.ʺ | 
| 28: | bezьcéni kámene da béremь da gì nósimь gd͒aru móemu u muku večnuju | ʺI (go to) take precious stones to bring them to my lord, into the Eternal Torment.ʺ |

| 30: | vráže što sù tova bescéni kámene | ʺO devil, what are those precious stones?ʺ | 
| 31: | ʾá vrágь se ʾóbrьnu | And the devil turned. | 
| 32: | ʾi réče | And he said: | 
| 33: | ne znáeš li tì što sù tovà bescéni kámene | ʺYou don't know, what are those precious stones?ʺ | 
| 34: | tová su sve patriar͛si ʾi vldci ʾi gospodàre ʾi knézove ʾi prislúšnici ʾi wtpádnici | ʺThose are all the patriarchs, and bishops, and lords, and princes, and public servants, and apostates.ʺ | 
| 35: | tová se naríča námь bescéno kámene | ʺThat is, what we call precious stones.ʺ | 
| 36: | páki pitá go ʾóc͂ь | The father asked him again: | 
| 37: | vráže ʾima li u múka ta kalúgere | ʺAre there any monks in the Torment?ʺ | 
| 38: | právo da mì kážešь | ʺTell me, really!ʺ | 
| 39: | ʾi réče vrágь | The devil said: | 
| 40: | što se naríča kalúgerь | ʺWhat is called a 'monk'?ʺ | 
| 41: | ʾá wc͂ь mu réče | And the father said to him: | 
| 42: | kaluger͛ se naríča što nósi čérnò katò ʾjá | ʺA 'monk' is (one), who wears black (clothes), like me.ʺ | 
| 43: | ʾi réče vrágь | And the devil said: | 
| 44: | takíva kaponós͛ci kàto tébe mnógo su | ʺThere are many cape-wearers there such as yourself.ʺ | 
| 45: | i ne móžešь da pomínešь wt níxь kóĭto su námь ugodíli | ʺAnd you cannot miss those, who were pleasing to us.ʺ | 
| 46: | tamo su | ʺThey are there.ʺ | 
| 47: | ʾá kóĭto su bl̃gočestívi xr͒tiăne, právo xodíli né ma támo | ʺBut of those, who are pious Christians, who walked straight, there are none.ʺ | 
| 48: | ní múžь ni ženà | ʺNeither a man, nor a woman.ʺ | 
| 49: | páki popíta go ʾócь | Again, the father asked him: | 
| 50: | ʾá íma li u múka ta nékoja xúbava merízma | ʺAnd is there any nice scent in the Torment?ʺ | 
| 51: | réče vrágь | The devil said: | 
| 52: | ne mógu ti ʾiskaza kakóvi smrádь ʾima u muka ta | ʺI cannot describe to you, how much stench there is in the Torment.ʺ | 
| 53: | ʾáko bi ti pomerisálь takóvi smrʾádь ʾumrel͛ bi | ʺIf you would smell such a stench, you would die.ʺ | 
| 54: | ʾi akò bì vidélь moè licè kakóvь ʾésmь umrel͛ bi wt stràxь | ʺAnd if you would see my face, as I am, you would die of fear.ʺ | 
| 55: | no bg̃ь pokríváetь váši ʾóči da nè vídite náše strašno licè | ʺBut God covers your eyes, so that you don't see our terrible face.ʺ | 
| 56: | no kóĭto su u múka ta tïa vidatь náše strášno licè ta ʾwštè poveče da se múčatь | ʺBut those, who are in the Torment, see our terrible face, so that they are tormented even more.ʺ | 
| 57: | réče oc͂ь | The father said: | 
| 58: | vráže donesí mi wt onáʾja váša vóda da ʾja vídimь kakvá e | ʺO devil, bring me (a bit) of that water of yours, so that I see, how it is.ʺ | 
| 59: | réče vrágь | The devil said: | 
| 60: | kogì dóĭdem drúgi put xóčemь ti donésti | ʺWhen I'll come next time, I will bring you.ʺ | 
| 61: | ʾi donése mu ʾu tikvicu | And he brought him (the water) in a little pumpkin. | 
| 62: | ʾi ne možè da pomeríše ʾon͛zi smrádь | And he could not smell that stench. | 
| 63: | nó potopi si ʾóc͂ь mal͛kià tь prь´stь | But the father dipped his small finger (into the water). | 
| 64: | pósle ʾi mí se | Afterwards, he washed himself, | 
| ʾi trí se sásь svékakvi merizlívi trávi | and he rubbed himself with all the kinds of aromatic herbs, | |
| danò bi se wtmílь tója smrádь | so that the stench would wash away. | |
| 65: | ʾi ne može da trь´pì ʾón͛zi smrádь | And he could not suffer that stench. | 
| 66: | nitì može da xódi | He could neither walk, | 
| 67: | nitì móže da sedì | nor could he sit. | 
| 68: | nì dnéska ni nóštemь móžeše da spit | He could not sleep neither in day, nor in the night. | 
| 69: | ʾi nikakvo ne maše míra dogdé si né wtséče prьsto | And he had no peace in any way, until he cut off the finger. | 
| 70: | čux͛te li xr͒tiăni kakvo e bilo téško ʾi gor͛ko kóĭ čl̃veь upádne djávolu u ruke | Did you hear, o Christians, how hard and bitter it is (to one), who falls to the hands of a devil? | 
| 71: | wx ʾwkaʾjani míe | O miserable us, | 
| zaštò ne pomíslime za tovà mésto kakvó e zlo | why don't we think about that how bad is that place, | |
| ta dà ne čínime edin drúgomu zló | so that we would not do evil to each other? | |
| 72: | zaštò da ne rečè nékoĭ | Why does not someone say: | 
| 73: | tovà ʾja e bilò ʾjá ne | ʺHey, this has happened, why not?ʺ | 
| 74: | ʾi ʾjáko ne verúetь da ima tokovà smradь ʾu múku véčnuju ʾá víe uzmete sin͛purь | And if one does not believe, that there is so much stench in the Eternal Torment, take sulphur! | 
| 76: | ʾi turéte go na ʾoganь u xížu | And put it on a fire in a house! | 
| 77: | ʾi zatvoréte vráta ʾi prozor͛ci | And close the doors and windows! | 
| 78: | ʾi da vidiš | And you may see: | 
| 79: | móžeš͛ li trьpéti | Can you stand (the stench)? | 
| 80: | zaštò sin͛purь wt muka † ta ʾizlázi | Because sulphur comes from the Torment. | 
| 81: | če ʾi lázarь posedè támo nékoliko vréme | And Lazarus, too, sat there for some time. | 
| 82: | ʾi kogí go vosk͒ri xr͒tósь; trì désetь gódinь poživè po voskr͒nïe | And when Jesus resurrected him, he lived for thirty years after (his) resurrection. | 
| 83: | ʾi dogdè bí žívь níkakvò drugo ʾjádene ne ukúsvaše tókmo médь | And as long as he lived, he ate nothing but honey. | 
| 84: | ʾilè drúgo nešto slàdko ʾedéše | Or he ate something else sweet. | 
| 85: | zaštò béše mu ʾwgorčalo srdcé to wt ʾádovi gor͛číla | Because his heart became bitter from the bitternesses of Hades. | 
| 86: | ʾi mlózina pituvaxu lázara da ĭmь káže štó ĭma u muka ta ʾi kakvò vidènïe vidè támo | And many were asking Lazarus, to tell them, what is in the Torment, and what sights he saw there. | 
| 87: | [i] ne šteja níšto da imь kaže | And he did not want to tell them anything. | 
| 88: | ʾá drùgi kazáxu | And others said. | 
| 89: | ʾi rékoxu | And they said: | 
| 90: | ʿw gor͛ko čl̃véku kóĭto xódi da páli séno ʾili slámu | O, woe to the man, who goes to burn hay or grass, | 
| ʾili xížu ʾilì skur͛vi ʾili | or (who burns) a house, or commits adultery, | |
| ʾwk(r)ada čl̃véka ʾilì ukrádne ʾili krádeno kríe | or (who) robs (?) a man, or steals, or hides stolen (things), | |
| ʾilì čl̃véka prïbíe ʾilì wt pijan͛sto ne stája ʾi denь ʾi nóštь | or (who) beats a man, or does not stand up from drinking for the day and night. | |
| 91: | wx téško † wx gor͛ko tomúva čl̃veku kóĭto stóri; takíva gréxove ʾi ne pokáe se | O, (it is) hard and bitter to the man, who does such sins and does not repent! | 
| 92: | na štó se náda | What can he hope for? | 
| 93: | kóĭ šte da gò wtdúma wt múku | Who will persuade him from (not entering) the Torment? | 
| 94: | kóĭ štè da gò požáli | Who will mourn for him? | 
| 95: | kóĭ štè da gò pokáe | Who will repent (for) him? | 
| 96: | kóĭ šte da gò wtt͛rve wt tìja zlì krьvníci diăvole | Who will wrestle him from those evil, bloodthirsty devils? | 
| 97: | kogì go sréšnatь ʾední go strášno glédatь | When they meet him, some look terribly on him. | 
| 98: | ʾá drúgi go bíjatь prez [♣] očí te ʾi prézь ustá ta | And others beat him through the eyes and the mouth. | 
| 99: | ʾá tréti go teglatь sásь čen͛gele | And third ones stretch him with hooks. | 
| 100: | ʾá četvér͛ti go plášatь | And the fourth scare him. | 
| 101: | ʾi smejut͛ mu se | And they laugh at him. | 
| 102: | ʾá péti mu derat kóža ta | And the fifth flay his skin. | 
| 103: | ʾá šésti mu kópatь ʾjámu predь ʾóčí te | And the sixth dig a hole in front of (his) eyes. | 
| 104: | ʾi igrájutь | And they dance. | 
| 105: | ʾi nakláli ʾógnь u ʾjáma ta | And they prepare a fire in the hole. | 
| 106: | ʾi skačatь ʾwkólь ʾjámu | And they jump around the hole. | 
| 107: | ʾi pejut | And they sing. | 
| 108: | ʾi naríčatь koí šte dnéska námь da prïide ʾu múka ta | And they say: ʺWho will come today into our Torment?ʺ | 
| 109: | ʾá drúgi vrágь káže | And other devil says: | 
| 110: | ne vídiš li bráte | ʺDon't you see, o brother?ʺ | 
| 111: | ʾete žénì ʾidatь u muka ta naša | ʺBehold, women go into our Torment!ʺ | 
| 112: | ʾá wní se rádvatь | And they are happy. | 
| 113: | ʾi dumat͛ sì | And they tell each other: | 
| 114: | ʾetè ʾide náša brodníca | ʺBehold, our sorceress!ʺ | 
| 115: | ʾi drugá ta mc͒ь svaljála | And another one takes the Moon down. | 
| 116: | ʾi zvezdí te prebróila magésnica | And, the sorceress, counted the stars. | 
| 117: | ʾá druga si licé to nabélila ʾi načrь´vila | And another one bleaches and reddens her face. | 
| 118: | taę ženà se zovè kur͛va | That woman is called an adulterer. | 
| 119: | ʾi ne xáreѯà ju xr͒tovo licè što jú è dálь | And she did not like the face of Christ, which he gave her. | 
| 120: | no túra na licé to si; djavol͛ski smrádь | But she puts the devilish stinking stuff on her face. | 
| 121: | ʾá ne znáe li ženà če da ju dératь djávole licé to sásь vьdici | And the woman does not know, that her face will be torn by the devils with hooks? | 
| 122: | ʾw gorkò na tája ženà koja svézuva muža ʾi ženù | O, woe to the woman, who makes matches between a man and a woman! | 
| 123: | ʾw téško koja dadè bil͛ki da ʾisfrьli ženà détište | O, it is hard (to the one), who gives herbs to a woman to throw out a child. | 
| 124: | ʾw zlo kója ženà stóri takíva gréxove ʾi ne pokae se ʾi ne ʾwstávja se wt magïĭ | O, (it is an) evil, (when a) woman does such sins and does not repent, and does not renounce magic! | 
| 125: | sáma sébe ʾu jamu zatvára | She closes herself into a pit. | 
| 126: | takòĭ ʾi mužь kóĭ se ne pokae u ʾjamu ná ógnь šté da gorì do véka | Thus also a man, who does not repent, will burn in a pit of fire forever. | 
| 127: | razuméĭte | Do mind! | 
| 128: | ʾi nakažíte se | And teach yourself! | 
| 129: | v slva ʾi vo v(ek)i | In glory and forever! | 
| 130: | (amin) | Amen. |
