ʾi prïide st̃i ʾiʿwanь bg̃oslovь ʾočívesno pri negw | St. John the Evangelist came to him clearly | |

19: | što právišь tovà gusaru | ʺWhy are you doing this, o Gusar?ʺ |
20: | sasь prьsti po pés͛kь píšešь | ʺYou are writing with fingers on the sandʺ |
21: | ʾi gusarь réče ʾiwanu | And Gusar said to John: |
22: | ʾidi | ʺGoʺ |
23: | vozri na vráta grádu | ʺLook at the town's doorsʺ |
24: | ʾi višь ʾóbrazь iwanu bg̃oslóvu | ʺAnd see the the image of John the Evangelistʺ |

58: | ʾá edínь cr̃evь čl̃vekь réče xʾináru | And one king's man said to Chēnarios: |
59: | napíšeté mi ʾikonu vo ʾóbrazь st̃ágo iʾwana bg͂oslóva | ʺDraw for me an icon in the image of St. John the Evangelistʺ |
60: | ʾúze máʿistorь xinárь potrébïju bojù | Master Chēnarios took paint |
61: | ʾi dade ju gusáru | And gave it to Gusar |

95: | maĭstorь šte da nadpíše | ʺThe master will outdraw (him)ʺ |

97: | ʾja pravo súdimь koi kogò šte dá nadpíše | ʺI will rightly judge who will outdraw whomʺ |
98: | da napíšete dvà ʾor͛là u móĭ dvoróve | ʺYou will draw two eagles in my courtsʺ |
99: | ʾedinь pišéte na sténu | ʺOne you draw on the wallʺ |
100: | ʾi drúgi blízu pri négo páki na sténu napíšéte | ʺAnd the other you draw close to it again on the wallʺ |

107: | ʾed´inь pisa ʾednogo ʾorla | One drew the one eagle |
108: | ʾá drugi pisa drúgago | And the other one drew the other |
109: | ʾi gledaxu luge máĭstore va pisanïę | And people were looking at the masters' drawings |
110: | ʾi dúmaxu | And they were saying |
111: | ne ma u tója st̃ь takvóvo | ʺThere is no such thig in this world!ʺ |
112: | ʾi pogledvaxu gusárovo pisanïe | And they were looking at the Gusar's drawing |
113: | ʾi umь ʾimь zanóseše wt xubóstь čísto ʾi čt͒no | And their mind was overcame purely and truly by the beauty |
114: | ʾá cr͂ь uze sokólь | And the king took the falcon |
115: | ʾi pušti go | And he let it go |
116: | ʾi sokolь fánu gusárovu ptícu na sténe | And the falcon caught the Gusar's bird on the wall |
