3:	ʾi nadvi mu dīavolь	And the Devil defeated him
4:	ta ʾōtidè	So he went away
5:	ta upáde ʾoú kur͛var͛stvo	And he fell into adultery
6:	ʾi po nekol͛ko dní pómisli za svoè sogrešénïe	And for some days he thought about his sin
7:	ʾi pláčeše potáĭno	And he was secretly crying
8:	ʾi dúmaše	And he was saying:
9:	uvì méne siromáxu kakvó si umrь´sixь dš̃u ʾi telò	ʺWoe to me, the poor one, how I tainted my soul and my body!ʺ
10:	kakvo štem sega da sè stórimь	ʺWhat am I going to do now?ʺ
11:	i da [pomolim] prošténïe grexóvь móĭmь	ʺHow am I going to ask for forgiveness of my sins?ʺ
12:	ʾi stanu	And he got up
13:	ʾi wtidè na edno mesto visoko u ednu góru	And he went to a high place in a mountain
14:	támo ʾimaše mn͒trь ʾi dx͂óvnici	There was a monastery and some clerics
15:	ʾi wtidè prezvíterь tamo da se pokaè pri nekoégo duxóvnago ʾóc͂a	And the presbyter went there to repent in front of some spiritual father
16:	ʾi náĭde támo star͛ca	And there he found an old man
17:	ʾi ʾispóveda popu vsę sógrešénïę	And he confessed his sin to the priest
18:	ʾi po tova kazà ʾi kur͛var͛stvo sogrešénïe	And after that he told about the sin of adultery
19:	ʾi réče mu stárecь	And the old man said to him:
20:	wx prezvítere téžekь gréxь ʾéstь tója	ʺOh presbyter, this sin is a heavy one!ʺ
21:	ne ubojá li se da slúžišь st̃uju litur͛gíju	ʺWere you not afraid to serve the holy liturgy?ʺ
22:	ʾi reče pópь	And the priest said:
23:	ʾeʾi ʾóč̃e st̃i služíxь:	ʺHoly father, I served itʺ
24:	ʾi réče stárecь	And the old man said:
25:	lepo glédai čádo	ʺLook closely (lit.: well), childʺ
26:	kogì upadne pópь u takovi gréxь ne ima nemu prošténïe	ʺWhen a priest falls into such sin, there is no forgiveness for himʺ
27:	no da nè slúži véče	ʺbut he will not serve any moreʺ
28:	zašto sásь velíko pokaʾjanïe trébe da pristúpišь pri bg̃a	ʺfor you must approach God with great repentanceʺ
29:	ʾi u eréĭstvo paki da ne prïĭdeš	ʺand (you must) not go back to priesthood againʺ
30:	n et͒ь tébe prošténïe	ʺThere is no forgiveness for youʺ
31:	ʾi popь réče	And the priest said:
32:	ne ĭmamь li ʾóč̃e pokaʿęnïe	ʺFather, do I not have repentence?ʺ
33:	ʾá stárecь se smísli:	And the old man started thinking
34:	ʾi réče	and he said:
35:	prostí me čádo gd͒a rádi	ʺForgive me, child, for Godʺ
36:	kakov smь ʾjá takóv	ʺWhat am Iʺ ʺSuchʺ
37:	i grexь ne uboʾjax se da sudim	ʺAnd I was not afraid to judge a sinʺ
38:	toko da móžemь ʾázь wt móĭ gréxь da se pokáemь	ʺOnly so I can repent for my own sinʺ
39:	tovà ču ïerʿei	The priest heard this
40:	ʾi pokloní se starcu	And he bowed to the old man
41:	ʾi wtidè skrь´benь	And he went away sorrowful
42:	ʾi kató si wttvódéše srešná go ʾáv͛va ʾi pétrь	And as he was walking away, the Father and Peter met him
43:	ʾi vidóxa go skrь´benь	And they saw him sorrowful
44:	ʾi reče mu pétrь	And Peter said to him:
45:	što ti e čádo	ʺWhat is the matter with you, child?ʺ
46:	ʾá pópь reče	And the priest said:
47:	čt͒ni ʾóč̃e prïidóxь kь onomu star͛cu	ʺHonorable father, I went to the old manʺ
48:	ʾispovedáxь vésь mói grex	ʺI confessed all my sinʺ
49:	ʾá onь me u wčaʾjanïe v͛vede	ʺbut he brought me into despairʺ
50:	ʾi réče ʾemu pétrь	And Peter said to him:
51:	čuemь čádo što dúmašь	ʺI hear what you are saying, childʺ
52:	doidi ʾu mojù kelïju	ʺCome to my cellʺ
53:	i ʾjavi mi vésь tvóĭ gréxь	ʺand show me all your sinʺ
54:	ta veče kakvò šte bg̃ь napravíti	ʺand then whatever God doesʺ
55:	ʾi wtidè prezvíterь u pétrovu kelïju	And the presbyter went to Peter's cell
56:	ʾispovéda kur͛var͛stvo délo	And he confessed the deed of adultery
57:	ʾá petrь réče	And Peter said:
58:	po ĭstine reklь tï e st̃i stárecь ïeréju	ʺThe holy old man told it to you truthfully, fatherʺ
59:	toʾja gréxь téžekь et͒ь	ʺThis sin is heavyʺ
60:	ʾi ne ʾimatь prošténïe tebe eréju	ʺAnd there is no forgiveness for you, fatherʺ
61:	wt séga ne vozmožno tï e da slúžišь	ʺFrom now on it is impossible for you to serve (liturgy)ʺ
62:	toko da sè postrižéšь; na monášeski čínь	ʺonly to cut your hair for monasticismʺ
63:	ʾi da se pokáeš, ʾistino	ʺand to repent trulyʺ
64:	ʾi ja se nadéemь na bl̃godatь	ʺAnd I hope for the grace of Lord Jesus Christ,ʺ
	gd͒a ıi͂sa xr͒tá da sotvóri ml͒tь sásь tébe kato sa sví te čl͂veci što se pokaʾjátь	ʺso that he gives (lit. does) mercy for you like for all people who repentʺ
66:	ʾonь kato ču taʾja dúma ʾi pade	As he heard this word, he fell down
67:	ʾi poklóni se star͛cu	And he bowed to the old man
68:	ʾi réče popь star͛cu	And the priest said to the old man:
69:	ʾwče petre kogí me bg͂ь prívede vъ st̃ıę tvoę` ruki ne štémь da se wtlučimь wt tébe	ʺFather Peter, ever since God led me into your holy hands, I do not want to separate myself from you!ʺ
70:	ʾi postríže go starécь petrь vъ monášeski ʾobrázь	And the old man Peter cut his hair in the image of a monk
71:	ʾi béše sásь tija duxóvnici vъ póstь ʾi vь pokaʾjánïe	And he was fasting and repenting with those clerics
72:	sa͒ slьzi neprestáno pláčeše za svóĭ grex	And he cried unceasingly with tears for his sin
73:	ʾi bg̃a móleše	And he was praying to God
74:	ʾimaše stárecь pódь svojù xížicu ednù skútničku	The old man had a cellar under his cabin
75:	ʾi moléše se popь star͛cu pétru da go púšti u wnája skutnička	And the priest was begging to the old man Peter to let him into that cellar
	tamo da sedì u wnája tesnota dogdé e žívь	to sit there in that tight place as long as he is alive
76:	ʾi stárecь go upušti ʾu skutnicu	And the old man let him into the cellar
77:	vьleze erei va njù	The priest went into it
78:	ʾiskova juže želézno ʾi na juže to piróne	He forged an iron rope (wire) And on the rope (he forged) nails
79:	ʾi ʾwkolь; šiju svóju ʾiskovà želézni ʾwkovi siréčь xápove	And around his neck he forged iron shackles, that is handcuffs
80:	ʾi drugia kráĭ na južé to zakova u stenu	And he nailed the other end of the rope to the wall
81:	ʾi kato se béše ʾwkovalь samь sébe ʾw´kajáni za sténu ʾi ne ʾizléze trí dnì prí star͛ca	And as he had nailed himself, the miserable one, to the wall, he did not go out to the old man for three days
82:	ʾi stárec vidè če ne izlázi pópь ʾizь skutnicu	And the old man saw that the priest was not going out of the cellar
83:	ʾá stárecь vъléze pri popà samь	And the old man hilself went in to the priest
84:	ʾi vidè popà	And he saw the priest
85:	ʾwkolь šïju popu ʾwkóvi želézni	Around his neck (were) iron shackles
86:	ʾi ʾjuže želézno na šïju popu ʾi u sténu zakovano	And an iron rope (was) nailed to the priest's neck and to the wall
87:	ʾi vidè stárecь	And the old man saw (it)
88:	ʾi počudí se	and he started wondering
89:	ʾi réče	and he said:
90:	što si storílь sñe takóva čudesà	ʺWhy did you do such miracles, o son?ʺ
91:	ʾi káko štešь da ʾizídešь na próxodь kato si se túka privezálь ʾi wkoválь	ʺAnd how will you go out for a pass (toilet?) if you have chained and shackled yourself here?ʺ
92:	ʾi gdé li potrébu telù tvoému da ʾuzmešь	ʺAnd where will you take what you need for the body?ʺ
93:	ʾá eréĭ: réče	And the priest said:
94:	st̃i ʾóče ʾjá po naprédь bl̃gu merízmu ѳimjánovu nasitíx͛ se	ʺHoly father, first I had enough of the good scent of the incenseʺ
95:	ʾi bl̃gago míra i ïzmir͛nu paki dovol͛no nasitíx͛ se	ʺAnd I had enough of the good peace and the myrrh tooʺ
96:	ʾá sega zlosmrádia što ʾizlazi wt méne da se nasítimь	ʺBut now, let me satisfy myself with the evil stench, which pours from me.ʺ
97:	zaštò telo me žen͛sko xotenïe voziskà	ʺBecause my body wanted the lust for women.ʺ
98:	ʾi dš̃u ʾi télo moe ʾwmrьsíxь	ʺAnd I tainted both my soul and my body.ʺ
99:	ʾi ne ʾimamь gdè glávu móju podkloníti	ʺAnd I have nowhere to put my head down.ʺ
100:	no ti oč̃e bg̃ь da nastávi tvoju st̃inju	ʺBut you, father, let God guide your truthʺ
101:	vъ dvà dnì ili vъ tri dnì da prinosíši mi málo xléba ʾi vódi; kol͛koto da živímь télo	ʺBring me a little bread and water every two days or three days just so I keep my body aliveʺ
102:	ʾi prïimi; stárécь mol͛bu popóvu	And the old man accepted the priest's request
103:	ʾi po dva dnì; prïnoseše ʾemu xlébь ʾi po màlo vódu	And every two days he brought him bread and a little water
104:	ʾi pópь kogì zémeše wt toja xlébь ʾi sasь slьzi go ʾwbljaeše	And whenever the priest took from that bread, he poured tears on it
105:	ʾi tako wt xléba edéše	And he ate from the bread like this
106:	ʾi ter͛pe ʾónь u takóvo smrádno mésto trì gódinь	And he suffered at that stinking place for three years
107:	ʾi po tovà rádi molénïe popovo ʾwprosti bg̃ь ʾemu sogrešénïe	And after that, because of the priest's prayer, God forgave him his sin
108:	ʾi doide ʾánьgelь gd͒nь	And an angel of God came
109:	ʾi reče mu	and he said to him:
110:	ʾw ïeree gotóvь budí	ʺOh priest, be ready!ʺ
111:	doĭde dénь da se prestávišь	ʺThe day has come for you to dieʺ
112:	ʾi paki réče petru ʾágg̃elь	And the angel said to Peter again:
113:	ʾidi star͛če	ʺGo, old manʺ
114:	razréši; pokajanïe eréju	ʺAllow the priest repentenceʺ
115:	ʾi približi se petrь	And Peter went near (him)
116:	ʾi reče ʾeréju	And he said to the priest:
117:	ti štéšь sega da ʾumrešь	ʺYou will now dieʺ
118:	ʾá popь se moleše star͛cu	And the priest was begging the old man:
119:	ne wtvezuvai me wt stenu;	ʺDo not untie me from the wall!ʺ
120:	tako privézanь da ʾumremь	ʺLet me die tied like this!ʺ
121:	ʾá petrь reče	And Peter said:
122:	ne déĭ čádo moe	ʺMy child, do not!ʺ
123:	ne podobáetь tébe tako da bude	ʺIt is not appropriate for you to be.ʺ
124:	ʾeréĭ bo ʾesì	ʺFor you are a priestʺ
125:	no molítvu tébe da pročetemь na isxódь dš̃i	ʺBut let us read a prayer for the departure of your soul.ʺ
126:	ʾi tako bg̃u dš̃u svoju predade	and so he gave up his soul to God
127:	ʾi uspe sa mirom	and he died in peace
128:	ʾw ïeréi bratïa móĭ vozljubléni	O priests, my dear brothers,
	kako móžešь pročetéti sïe	as you can read this,
	táko móžeši ʾi sačuváti sebe wt blúdnago ʾwnago sotvorenïja	thus you can save yourself from the sinful creation.
129:	níkako ne podobáetь sś͂eniku da besedúetь sásь mládimь čúždimь ženam	It is not appropriate for a priest to have idle conversations with strange, young women,
	neželi ʾi sasь staroju ženóju	(more?) than with an old woman.
130:	poneže: žéna ʾógnь bo ʾestь	Because a woman is a fire.
131:	dobrè xraní se wt besédь žen͛ski ʾjáko že wt ʾwg͛nь	Guard yourself from idle discussions with women like from the fire.

133:	Sïe oc͂i st̃i sś̃enici ʾi bratïę móĭ	O holy fathers, priests and my brothers,
	ʾili ʾini čitátelь kóĭ ubo slučít͛ se či̇tati sïe	or any other reader, who happens to read this,
	tokmo tómu potrébno ʾestь razumeti sïe, sś͂enïčeskó délo ʾi gréxь radi sś͂eničeskïi;	it is important to (any reader to?) understand this matter of priesthood and sins of the priests.
134:	[to ʾestь] sami sebe da umúdrime	That is: Let us make ourselves wise!
135:	ʾi da pomíslime nikakь bg̃u da nè sogrešáeme	And let us think, how not to sin against God in any way.
136:	ponéže ʾág͂gel͛ski venécь na glávu nášu nosïme	Because we carry an angelic wreath on our head(s).
137:	ʾášte kóĭ popь ne razuméetь sïe pïsánie	If any priests does not understand this writing,
	tóĭ ni va cr͂kovь bž̃ïju da ne vnídetь	may he does not even enter a church of God!
138:	no ʾi mir͛janomь sïe níkakь da ĭzvestit	But do not even let him to speak to laymen about this!
139:	poneže mi sś͂enici ʾesmi náše sogrešénïe da ne vnídetь vo uši mir͛janomь	Because we are priests. May our sin does not enter the ears of the laymen!
141:	no sámi sébe da uničižíme	But let us destroy by ourselves.
142:	ʾi da se pedep͛šeme dá ne va muku véčnuju upádneme	And let us educate ourselves, so that we will not fall into eternal torment.
143:	tamo gorko est	(For) it is bitter there.
