7:	pósle dočul͛ beše cr̃ь kostan͛dinь	Afterwards, the Emperor Constantine had heard (about it).
8:	ʾi napisa fer͛manь	And he wrote an edict.

10:	ʾi vide cr̃ь kwstádinь če sè ne wstavlę maѯéntïa wt mučenïe	And Emperor Constantine saw, that Maxentius did not stop the tortures.
11:	ʾá wnь pómisli da ĭde na bóĭ	But he thought to go to a fight.
12:	ʾi moleše se bg̃u nb̃snomù	And he prayed to the God of the Heavens.
13:	i kato sè pókani cr̃ь da íde na bóĭ	And when the Emperor decided to go to a fight,

	jako go počítaxu xr͒tïani	Christians respected him very much.
14:	ʾi mnógo se rádvaxu xr͒tïăne	And the Christians were very glad.
15:	ʾi jáko mu se moléxu	And the prayed to him very much.
16:	ï dúmaxu	And they were saying:
17:	ʾw cr̃u ʾidi ʾizbaví ni wt téškoe mučénïe	ʺO Emperor, come and free us from the heavy torments!ʺ
18:	ʾi jáví se cr̃u na sьnь kr͒tь gospod͛nь	And a cross appeared to the Emperor in a dream,
	ʾizwbrázenь sásь zvézdi ʾi séĭ kato sl̃nce	portrayed with stars and shining as the Sun.
19:	ʾi glas mu dóidè wt nb̃sa	And a voice came to him from the heaven.
20:	ʾi rečé mu	And it said to him:
21:	kostándíne tì štéšь dá nadvïešь na tája bezakóna véra	ʺO Constantine, you shall defeat that lawless religion!ʺ
22:	ʾidi	ʺGo!ʺ
23:	ne boĭ se	ʺHave no fear!ʺ
24:	kogi bì na drúga nóštь legnu, cr̃ь	On the next night the Emperor laid himself.
25:	ta záspa	And he fell asleep.
26:	ʾi páki ʾjáví mu se xr͒tósь na sьn	And again, the Christ appeared to him in the dream.
27:	ʾi reče mu	And he said to him:
28:	uzmì u ruke tvóĭ čt͒nagw: kr͒ta	ʺTake the True Cross by your hands!ʺ
29:	ʾi póĭdi	ʺAnd go!ʺ
30:	ʾi

31:	ne tokò maѯentïju	ʺAnd not only (you will defeat) Maxentius.ʺ
32:	no ʾi svi te knezove ʾi voivódi ʾi voine negóvi	ʺBut also (you will defeat) all his princes, and commanders, and warriors.ʺ
33:	togíva cr̃ь stánu	Then the Emperor woke up.
34:	ʾi prizova svì bolę´re svóĭ	And he called all his boyars.
35:	ʾi kazà ĭmь kakvo mu se ʾjavílь na sьn kr͒tь gd͒nь	And he told them, how the cross of the Lord appeared to him in a dream.
36:	ʾi reče ʾimь	And he told them:
37:	budetè gotóvi: do nékolíko dnì dogdé si ʾwkovémь čéstnì kr͒tь	ʺBe ready in a couple of days, when I'll forge my True Cross.ʺ
38:	ʾi prizovà xítri zlatáre	And he called for able goldsmiths.
39:	ʾi réče ʾimь	And he told them:
40:	napravéte mi čt͒ni kr͒tь kakváto mí se javi na sь´nь	ʺMake a (model of the) True Cross for me, as it appeared in a dream to me.ʺ
41:	ʾi napravíxa go sásь zláto ʾi sasь mar͛garitь ʾi sa͒ bescéni kámene	And they made it with gold and with pearls and with priceless stones.
42:	ʾi gotóvi se dá ĭde na bóĭ	And he prepared himself for a fight.
43:	Źločestívi maѯen͛tïja vidè cr̃a kostandína če prïide blízu pri rim͛ grádь sásь mnógo vóĭsku	The evil Maxentius saw Emperor Constantine, that he came to the city of Rome with a large army.
44:	togíva réče maѯen͛tia skóro voiska da sè zbére	Then Maxentius commanded the army to assemble soon.
45:	ʾi sьbra sè mnogo naródь rimljáne	And a large number of Romans assembled.
46:	ʾi ʾwpréxu se cr̃u kostan͛dínu	And they fought Emperor Constantine.
47:	ʾá cr̃ь kostan͛din povelè da nósatь čt͒nagw; kr͒tà naprédь prédь voisku tu	But Emperor Constantine orderred the True Cross to be carried in front of the army.
48:	ʾi udaríxu se sásь maѯen͛tïju	And they attacked each other with Maxentius.
49:	ʾi sasь síla ta čt͒nomu kr͒tu nádvi cr̃ь maѯéntïi:	And with the power of the True Cross, the Emperor defeated Maxentius.
50:	ʾi mnógo mu vóĭsku ʾizsékoša	And they killed many (soldiers of) his army.
51:	ʾi sámь maѯén͛tïę pobéže	And Maxentius himself ran away.
52:	ʾi cr͂ go sil͛no góneše	And the Emperor pursued him resolutely.
53:	ʾi vóĭská ta mu strášno bégaše	And his forces were terribly running.
54:	i kato bégaše voi͛ska ta ʾi maѯen͛tïa ʾimaše prézь ʾednà rekà móstь golem	And as the army was fleeing, Maxentius had a big bridge over one river.
55:	sámь go maѯen͛tïę béše pravílь	Maxentius himself had constructed it.
56:	ta [...] gléše na mósto da míne sásь vóĭská ta što mù béše ʾwstála	And he hasted (?) to the bridge to pass with the remaining army.
57:	ʾi sásь bóžiju sílu stróši se mósto	And with the help of God, the bridge fell.
58:	ʾi potopi se ʾwkajăni maѯéntïa va réku	And the wretched Maxentius drowned in the river.
59:	i svá ta mu vóĭska ʾudávi se kato ʾi cr̃ь fáraʿwnь potьnu	And all his army drowned, as King Pharaoh drowned.
60:	ʾisplь´ni se reká ta sásь kóni ʾi sásь vóĭsku sásь ʾoružïem	The river became full of horses and of soldiers with arms.
61:	† Velíki: kostándinь nadvì	The great Constantine won.
62:	ʾi uléze u rímь grad	And he entered the city of Rome.
63:	ʾi srečnáxu go ljúdïe rim͛lęne sásь rados golému	And the people of Rome met him with great joy.
64:	ʾi ʾonь velïko bl͂godareše, bg̃a če mu dáde bg̃ь silu ta póbedi mučítelja maѯen͛tïju	And he greatly thanked God, that He gave him power to defeat Maxentius the tormentor.
65:	ʾi potómь kr͒ti se sámь ʾi máti negóva Eléna	And then he himself and his mother Helen got baptized.
66:	ʾi pósle cr̃ь kwn͛stan͛dinь záprati mt̃rь svoju, ʾelénu vo ʾier͒limь dá traži čt͒nì kr͒téve wt nevérnici	And afterwards, Emperor Constantine sent his mother Helen to Jerusalem, to search for True Crosses among the heathen.
67:	ʾi dáde i cr̃ь mnógo ʾiménïe	And the Emperor gave her a lot of property.
68:	ʾi ōtidè cr͂ca	And the Empress went.
69:	ʾi vidè ʾwnïja st̃i mesta	And she saw the holy places.
70:	ʾi što ʾimaše čt͒ni móšti ʾwna gi na st̃ь proizvéde	And she brought the relics, which were there, to the light.
71:	ʾi počè da traži česnì kr͒tь gd͒nь kadé go béxu skríli: ʾevrée	And she began to search for the True Cross, where the Jews had hidden it.
72:	togíva béše makarïa patriárxь u er͒límь	Then Makarios was the Patriarch in Jerusalem.
73:	ʾonь sréšnu cr̃cu ʾelenu sásь golému póčestь	He mat the Empress Helen with great honors.
74:	pa togíva cr̃ca eléna prizovà svi evrée ʾiudejáne	Then Empress Helen called for all the Jews of Judaea.
75:	ʾi pítaše gi	And she was asking them:
76:	kažéte mi mestó to kadé e skrit kr͒tь gd͒nь	ʺShow me the place, where the Cross of the Lord is hidden!ʺ
77:	ʾa evrée te se wtríčaxu	But the Jews did not obey.
78:	ʾi ne štexu da kážatь	And they did not want to say.
79:	ʾi dumaxu	And they were saying:
80:	ʾw cr̃ce míe ne znaeme mésto gdé e skrítь česnì kr͒tь gd͒nь	ʺO Empress, we do not know the place, where the True Cross of the Lord is hidden.ʺ
81:	ʾá cr͒ca ʾelena ʾimь. préteše sásь mučenïe	But Empress Helen threatened them with torture,
	da gì muči ʾi sásь sabïju da gì sečè	that she would torment them and kill them with a saber.
82:	ʾá wni mrь´sni evrée predádoxu cr̃ci ʾednogò stára evreina	But those filthy Jews gave an old Jew to the Empress.
83:	iuda béše mu ʾime	His name was Judas.
84:	ʾi rekoxu	And they said:
85:	etè toja stárecь móže pokaza tebe štotò sakašь ti	ʺHere, this old man can show you, what you want.ʺ

90:	togíva cr̃ca réče	Then the Empress said (a command),
91:	ta turíxu starago ʾevréina u ednà propastь dlьbóka	And they threw the old Jew into a deep abyss.
92:	ʾi sedè tamo nekoliko vréme	And he sat there for some time.
93:	ʾi obréče se da káže	And he promised to tell.
94:	ʾi izьvédoxa go ʾizь própastь	And they took him out of the abyss.
95:	ʾi poide da kaže mesto to gde béše skrítь čt͒ni kr͒tь	And he went to show the place, where the True Cross had been hidden.
96:	ʾánʾdriănь cr̃ь rim͛ski rázbra če štè da se naĭde čt͒ni kr͒tь	Emperor Hadrian (had) understood, that the True Cross will be found.
97:	ʾi tamo na onova mesto béše natúrana gorà mnog ʾi kámene ʾi posipani ʾwzgorь sa zémlju	And there, on that place, a hill of a lot of stones covered from above by earth had been put over it.
98:	ʾan͛drianь cr̃ь povelè na onóva mésto da naprávi cr̃kvu ïdol͛sku	Emperor Hadrian (had) commanded to build a church of idolaters on that place.
99:	ʾi wstavi; u cr̃kva ta kumírь popь ʾevréĭski	And he left an idol (and) a Jewish priest in the church.
100:	ʾá cr̃ca ʾelena povelè da razvali cr̃kvu ʾidol͛sku	But the Empress commanded to tear the church of idolaters down,
	ʾi zemlju da raskópa	and to dig the earth,
	ʾi goru ʾi ka-menïe da rasfrьga	and to cast away the stones and the hill,
	da náĭde čt͒ni kr͒tь gd͒nь	to find the True Cross of the Lord.
101:	ʾi ōtídè cr̃ca ʾeléna na tovà mesto ʾi makaria patriărxь	And the Empress Helen and Patriarch Makarios went to that place.
102:	ʾi pomólixu se bg͂u na tóĭ mésto	And they prayed to God on that place.
103:	ʾi sasь bž̃ïemь povelénïemь ʾizide merizmà xúbava blg͂a	And with the command of God, a nice scent came out.
104:	ʾi javí se grobь ʾi mesto gd͒ne na ʾistokь	And the grave and the place of Lord appeared in the East.
105:	ʾi blízu pri ʾónáĭ gróbь namerixu pogrébeni tri kr͒ti	And next to the grave, they found three crosses buried.
106:	ʾi potómь nameríxu ʾi čt͒nię ven͛ci	And then they also found the honorable wreaths.
107:	ʾi krt͒óve te bexu ʾjákw xubavi kolíko da se ne domísli čl̃vekь koi e xr͒tóvь kr͒tь	And the crosses were so much beautiful, that one could not find out, which was the cross of Christ.
108:	tolíko bexu xubavì	They were so beautiful.
109:	ʾi va tói vréme ʾiznésoxu ʾednù devícu mertvu	And in that time they brought out a dead girl.
110:	ta ju zanósexu na gróbь da ju pogrebútь	And so they carried her to the grave to bury her.
111:	ʾá makária patriăxь reče	And Patriarch Makarios said:
112:	stánete čéda kude zanósite tuju mer͛tvu devícu	ʺStay, children!ʺ ʺWhere do you carry that dead girl?ʺ
113:	da polóžime čt͒ni kr͒ti na njù	ʺLet us place the True Crosses on her!ʺ
114:	ʾi položíxu ʾedínь kr͒tь	And they placed one cross.
115:	ne bì čudesa	There was no miracle.
116:	ʾi položíxu vtóri kr͒tь	And they placed a second cross.
117:	pakì ne bi čúdo	Again, there was no miracle.
118:	kogì položíxu ʾi trekïja krьstь na devícu ʾábïe .:. w͒živè devíca	When they also put the third cross on the girl, she immediately became alive.
119:	ʾi stanu sasь síloju bž͒tvnago kr͒ta gd͒nja	And she stood up by the power of the divine Cross of the Lord.
120:	ʾá cr͂ca Eléna sa͒ rádostïju uze čt͒ni kr͒ь	And Empress Helen took the True Cross with joy.
121:	ʾi pokloní mu se	And she bowed to it.
122:	ʾi poceluvá go	And she kissed it.
123:	ʾi sva voiska ʾelenina pover͛và	And the whole army of Helen believed.
124:	ʾi pokr͒tixu se svi vo ʾimę xr͒tóvo	And all got baptized in the name of Christ.
125:	ʾá drugi va tova vréme ne možéxu da vídatь tova preslávnoE čudo	And others could not see that glorious miracle in that time.
126:	ʾi mnogo se káexu	And they regretted much.
127:	zašto ne su vidéli čudesà čt͒nomu kr͒tu	Because they did not see the miracles of the True Cross.
128:	togíva makária patriárxь ʾizleze na visóko mésto na mol͛bu pri ʾedna cr͂kva	Then Patriarch Makarios went out to a high ground to pray, near a church.
129:	ʾi dignú ʾi pokazà čt͒ni kr͒tь na narodь	And he raised and showed the True Cross to the people.

141:	ʾi po krьštenïe ïuda si naréče ime kiriʾakь	And after the baptism Judas called himself Cyriacus.
142:	ʾi posle cr̃ca ʾeléna povele	And afterwards, Empress Helen gave a command.
143:	ta naprávixu ʾedinь monastírь golémь na tovà mesto káde béxu skríti kr͒tove te	And they built a large monastery on the place, where the crosses were hidden.
144:	ʾi nareče ʾime mon͒tiru voskr͒nïe gd͒a nášego ïĩsa xr͒tà na mésto kade béše gróbь gd͒nь	And she gave the name to the monastery at the place of the grave of the Lord ʺResurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christʺ.
145:	ʾjákw xubavo cr̃ca ukrasì st̃go mn͒tra svè u srebrò ʾi u zláto	The Empress decorated the holy monastery very nicely. Everything (was) in silver and in gold.
146:	ʾi wt onóva vréme ʾi do dnešNI dénь kr͒tь gd͒nь námь pomága	And since then up to even today the Cross of the Lord helps us.
147:	ʾi veliki cr̃ь kostán͛dinь ukači na visóki: mrámorь čt͒nago kr͒ta na stlь´pь na ʾjáko xubavo mesto	And the great Emperor Constantine placed the True Cross on a high marmor place, on a pillar, a very nice place.
148:	ʾi na toja stlь´pь turíxu žídove ʾevrée drьvo	And on that pillar the Jews-Hebrews put wood (?).
149:	ʾi raspéxu na nego xr͒ta bg̃a našego štotò námь dávaše ʾiscelenïe wt: vasakïja bolézni	And they cruicified on it the Christ, our God, who was giving us healing from all illnesses.
150:	† wx míli moi xr͒toljubívi xr͒tiani da ne réče nékoi ʾázь ne veruvamь tova čudo ne e bílo	O my dear Christ-loving Christians, may no one says, (that) I do not believe in that miracle.
151:	zašto sà xr͒tósь takóvago čl͂veka proklínja	Because Christ Himself curses such a man.
152:	ne ver͛ni ʾi ne kr͒teni veri čuxu takóva čudesa	(Followers of) unfaithful and unbaptized religions listened to such miracles.
153:	ʾi pover͛vaxu	And they believed.
154:	ʾi dlь´ženь e͒ čitátelь nà vasaki práznikь da pokáže xr͒tíănomь st̃oe skazánïe	And the reader is obliged to show the Holy Scripture to the Christians on every feast,
	da razuméjut što písuva u st̃ì knígi xr͒tóvi	so that they understand, what is written in the holy books of Christ.
155:	ponéže ʾesu xr͒tiani ʾjákw wvci kogi ne ĭmutь pastíra	Because the Christians are (otherwise) as sheep, when they have no shepherd.
156:	ʾi kóĭ pastírь ʾestь dobrь da napasè ʾi da nakrь´mi stado svoè	And he, who is a good shepherd, will bring to graze and feed his flock.
157:	dobrè tóĭ nariča se pastirь	It is well (that) he is called a shepherd.
158:	ʾili kói popь ʾili kalugerь	Or, a priest or monk,
	ʾákw` pročíta čt͒o st̃oe pisánïe	if he often reads Holy Scripture
	ʾi da pokazuva čt͒o xr͒tiănom skazánïe pr͒ročesko	and shows the words of prophets to Christians,
	tóĭ naríča se popь ʾi dx͂óvni oc͂ь	he is called (not only) a priest, (but also) a spiritual father.
159:	ʾi réče gd͒ь	And the Lord said:
160:	kóĭ ʾizjávi pisména mòi predь xr͒tiani kóito ne uméjut knígu da četutь ʾi wni da budutь bl̃gosloveni če ne umejut da četutь	ʺBlessed be those, who clarify my letters in front of Christians, who cannot read!ʺ ʺBecause they cannot read.ʺ
161:	ʾá verno slovo moe razumevájut da ìmutь pomoštь wt mene do životà svoegò	ʺAnd (thus) they (will) understand my word of truth, so that they will have help from me until (the end of) their life.ʺ
162:	ʾá čitátel da pročéte slad͛ki móĭ réči da isprávit lepo	ʺAnd may the reader read my sweet words, to make it well (?).ʺ
163:	i toi da budetь trì bl̃ženь	ʺAnd may he will be thrice blessed.ʺ
164:	ʾi da se nasledi wt desnuju ʾoc͂a moego va cr͒tvo móe nebñoe	ʺAnd may he inherit (the place at) the right of my Father (?) in my Kingdom of Heaven.ʺ
