҆ѡ какво̀ запове́два нáмь ст҃и їѡӑнь злато҆ꙋсть [Title] about what St. John Chrysostomus commands us
да поми́слиме какво̀ ще да прїйде на нáсь стрáшни де́нь самрь́тни [Title] to think about what comes on the terrible day of death
҆и да поме́неме безконе́чною мꙋкꙋ ҆и цр͒тво нб͒ное [Title] and so that we remember the eternal torment and the Kingdom of Heaven
да ҆имаме на пáметь ко́ѐ де́ло е по ꙋго́дно [Title] so that we have on mind, which is better
далї е по ꙋго́дна вечна мꙋ́ка ҆илѝ цр͒тво нб͒ное [Title] whether the eternal torment or the Kingdom of Heaven
во де́нь изходь дш҃и [Title] in the day of the passing of the soul
4: [♣] Возлюбле́ни мо́й брáтїе послꙋшаите зáповедь ст҃áго їѡана злáтоустаго какво̀ нáсь днеска ꙋчѝ Hear, o my beloved Christians, the commandement of St. John Chrysostomus, which he teaches us today.
5: да се покáеме May we repent!
6: ко́й чл҃векь сто́ри не́кой гре́хь One, who does a sin,
и поми́сли на сво́й пáметь да сѐ не ҆ѡстави ѿ ѕль по́мишль and who thinks on his mind not to leave his bad intention,
то на се́бе мло́го грехь возлагáть he puts a lot of sin on himself.
7: ҆и на се́бе сꙋдь прино́сить And he brings the Judgement on himself.
8: ҆ꙗ помисле́те ҆ѡ братїе мо́й каквà дꙋ́ма да подꙋмаме да сѐ ҆ѡпрáвиме на ҆ѡнова стрáш[но]е сꙋ́дище ҆и гро́зное место ҆испитанїе Think, o my brothers, what word will you say to defend ourselves on that terrible Judgement Day and the awesome place of Trial!
9: мно́го стрáхь голе́мь (There will be) a lot of great fear.
10: ҆о́гне́на рекà течѐ A burning river flows (there).
11: воспомене́сте брáтїе що пи́ше ꙋ ст҃ое ҆еѵ͒ли́е Remember, o brothers, what is written in the holy Gospels!
12: моле́те се бг҃ꙋ не́престáно Pray to God without ceasing!
13: ви́дите́ ли брáте какво̀ ҆áг҃гель трьчѝ та затвáра врáта ѿ нáсь Do you see o brothers, how the angel runs and closes the door before us,
че сме мло́го гре́шни ҆и не сме́ се покáꙗли for we are so sinful and we have not repented?
14: ҆á дрꙋ́ги ҆áг҃гель све́щи гáси да не ви́ди́ме еди́нь дрꙋ́гого
15: тамо ҆има стрáшень гро́мь ҆и тре́сакь ҆и мльнїе бледо̀ There is a terrible thunder and rumble, and shiny lightning,
вáрекь ҆и пи́сакь ҆и плáчь ҆и жал͛ба гор͛ка crying and squealing and weeping and bitter grief.
16: ҆áг҃гли бж҃и бе́гать ѿ нáсь че смѐ гнꙋ́сни Angels of God run from us, because we are disgusting.
17: ҆á си́лни ди́҆ꙗволе влáчат ни ꙋ пе́щь ҆о́гне́нꙋю да сѐ мꙋчиме во ве́ки And strong devils pull us into the burning furnace, so that we are tormented forever.
18: ҆и товà помисле́те ҆áко гѝ нáсь ҆изведꙋ́ть пре́дь бг҃а на сꙋ́дище And also think how they will bring us in front of God to the Judgement Seat.
19: ко́й тамо да сто́й по сре́де да бꙋ́деть пре́дь народь ѡͯ коли́ко би́ се моли́ль да би поги́бнꙋл ҆или землꙗ̀ да се разгрь́не да ꙋпе́днешь Whoever will stand there to be in front of the people, o, how much would he pray to die or the ground to open, so that he falls there!
20: каде да сѐ скри́еме ѿ тако́ви стрáхь бж҃ıи Where should we hide from such a terror of God?
21: какво̀ да ѿгово́риме предь тол͛кова ҆áг҃гли бж҃їй What we will answer in front of so many angels of God?
22: тоги́ва ка ще да бꙋ́де How it will be?
23: кажи́ ми Tell me,
когѝ фáнать да скрь́чать сáсь зꙋби ди́҆ꙗ́воле на нáсь when the devils start to gnash their teeth on us,
ко́й да нѝ ҆избáви ѿ ни́х͛ни те рꙋ́це who will save us from their hands,
҆и ва кроме́шнꙋю тьмни́цꙋ щать да нѝ ври́нꙋть да сѐ мꙋчи́ме до ве́ка and when they will throw us into the darkest dungeon to torment us forever?
24: ѡͯ ҆ꙋвѝ коли́ко плáче моѐ срдце ѿ стрáха бо́жїа O, alas, how much does my heart cry from the fear of God!
25: ҆и ще́ме да пищи́ме като чрь́вь ꙗдови́ти ҆и тꙋга огне́ни рекѝ пе́щи не ꙋгасїмїиà And we will squeal (from?) the angry worm and grief, burning rivers, unextinguishing furnaces.
26: ѡ͒ чл҃ве́че ҆áко ҆имáшь наꙋка да чи́нишь; гре́хь O man, if you have knowledge, (why) do you commit sin?
27: ҆á ти́ си помислѝ But think!
28: ҆и поменѝ стрáхь бо́ж҃їй ҆и мꙋ́ки ве́чнїѧ And remember the fear of God and eternal torments!
29: ҆тоги́ва ҆и аг҃гель бж҃и прихо́ди при тебѐ да те вразꙋ́ми да не ми́слишь да чи́нишь зло̀ Then, even an angel of God will come to you, to convince you, not to do evil.
30: ҆и ѿ злꙋ ми́сль ҆избáвлꙗше And he was freeing from bad thoughts.
31: ҆и коꙗ тї е нево́лꙗ да сѐ не мо́лишь бг҃ꙋ And what does make you unwilling to pray to God?
32: ҆и ко҆ꙗ тї е нꙋ́жба да сѐ не ѡстáвишь да не рече́шь ни́комꙋ ни́що за зло̀ And what is your need, that you cannot let it go, not to say to somebody something about an evil (done to you)?
33: ҆и коꙗ́ те спо́на сапи́нꙗ да се не ҆ѡстáвишь да нѐ рьжи́шь ҆и зави́двашь And what is what impedes you from staying away from being jealous and envious?
34: ҆и ко́й трꙋдь ҆имашь да не живꙋ́вашь сáсь ро́дь ҆или сась комшїи тво́й And what work do you have, that you cannot live with your kin or your neighbors?
35: ҆и ко҆ꙗ́ тї е бедà да дꙋ́машь срáм͛ни дꙋми ни дá клеве́тишь ни да досáдишь не́комꙋ And what misfortune befalls you, that you speak shameful words, slander, and annoy anyone?
36: що тѐ сапи́нꙗ да нѐ милꙋ́вашь си́ромáси What does impede you from being merciful to the poor?
37: ҆á коги́ си глáдень какво̀ чи́нишь: And when you are hungry, what do you do?
38: помислѝ Think!
39: ҆и кажи́ ми And tell me!
40: да ви́димь какво говоришь Let me see, what you say!
41: ҆ѡ че́до когѝ ви́дишь сиромáха поми́лꙋи го O child, when you see a poor man, show mercy to him.
42: ҆áко ли ҆имашь срьд͛бà на не́кого примири́ се If you are angry on someone, make peace.
43: ҆áко ви́дишь не́кого че сѐ добре хрáни не завиди́ мꙋ † If you see someone feeding himself well, don't envy him.
44: † и áко ви́дишь женꙋ̀ доброли́чнꙋ ҆и хꙋ́бавꙋ зáминї ю And if you see a nice-faced and beautiful woman, pass her.
45: не́ хоротꙋ́й; сáсь ню̀ да тѝ не́ ѡгладне́ют ҆ꙋстà за ню̀ Do not speak with her, so that your mouth does not become hungry for her,
46: ҆и ҆о́чи́ те ти заслепе́вать по ню̀ and (that) your eyes will not become blind for her,
47: но ҆и пáмето ти ҆ѿво́ди по ню̀ but also (that) your mind goes to her,
48: ҆и но́зе ҆и рꙋце и свѝ жи́ли ҆и тело̀ твоѐ ҆ѡслабе́ва по ню and your legs and hands and all the veins and the body become weak for her.
49: защо́ се: женà зовѐ ҆о́гнь хоротà жен͛ска Because the woman (and?) words of a woman is called a fire.
50: ҆изь ҆ꙋста та й ме́дь кáпе когѝ хоротꙋ́ва A honey dips from her mouth, when she speaks.
51: ҆а тѝ мꙋжꙋ бе́гай But you, o man, run!
52: не бе́седꙋй сáсь женꙋ̀ да те́ не ꙋстре́ли ди́҆аволь сáсь стрелꙋ̀ ҆ꙋ срдце Do not speak with the woman, so that the Devil does not hit you with an arrow to your heart.
53: ҆Ѡ чл҃веци бж҃їи ѿ ти́ꙗ стрáшни зáповеди ко́и се смисли да ги сотво́ри ть [...] чл҃векь ще да полꙋ́чи дш҃и свое́й сп͒нїе O, people of God, he who would think of fulfilling these terrible commands, will receive salvation for his soul.
55: това савер͛ши да сп͒еши се Do this, to save yourself!
56: ҆Ако се поткáниме да се мо́лиме бг҃ꙋ приле́жно ҆и бг҃ь ще нѝ прости що смѐ бг҃ꙋ греши́ли If we decide to duly pray to God, God will forgive us, what we had commited against God.
57: ҆áко лѝ речеме да това какво́ е те́жекь гре́хь гд͒ь ще нї ҆ѡпро́сти If we say, how grave is that sin, the Lord will forgive us.
58: ѡͯ те́шко томꙋ́ва чл҃векꙋ ко́и продꙋма та҆ꙗ́ дꙋ́ма O, (it is) hard for that man, who says that word.
59: нѝ ҆оц҃ь на си́на не мо́же претрь́пе таки́ва речи Not even a father can suffer such words from the son.
60: ҆á камо ли хр͒то́сь бг҃ь нáшь да претрьпѝ нáмь And then where would Christ the God suffer ours?
61: не́кой чор͛баџи́а когѝ ҆има лени́вь пристáвинь ҆и дремли́вь то́й не мо́же дá мꙋ претрьпѝ мрьзá та When a merchant has a lazy and sleepy servant, he cannot stand his sloth.
62: тако́й ҆и бг҃ь нась не щѐ да трьпѝ да смѐ жи́ви до ве́ка: Thus also God will not suffer us to live forever.
63: но ни́ꙗ да сѐ потрꙋ́диме сáми But now, let us work a bit on ourselves!
64: ҆и да сѐ просль́зиме сáсь плáчь ҆и сáсь покаꙗнїе ҆и поклоне́нїе And may we shed tears with crying, and with repentance, and respect.
65: ҆и мал͛ко оскрьби́ме на то́҆ꙗ ст҃ь And (may) we make this world a bit harder.
66: ҆и на ҆ѡ́н[...] ст҃ь да бꙋ́деме рáдостнѝ до́ века, And in the other world, may we will be happy forever.
67: Бг҃ꙋ нашемꙋ слáва ҆и чт҃ь ҆и поклоне́нїе Glory (be) to our God, and honor, and respect,
҆о́ц҃ꙋ ҆и сн҃ꙋ ҆и ст҃омꙋ дх҃ꙋ to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
ни́нѣ ҆и при́сно ҆и во ве́ки веков now and ever, and forever!
