| 4: | ta ʾwstavíxu ná zémlju za velïkoe próslavlénïe bž̃ie ʾi čudesa | [Foreword] And what they left on the Earth for the great praise of God and miracles, | 
| komu kakvò ʾizvolì ml͒tívi že, bg̃ь: | [Foreword] what was given to each of them by the merciful God | |
| 5: | Imáše ʾednò vréme ʾedínь čl̃vékь | In one time, there was a man | 
| 6: | beše trьgóvecь ʾi kupécь bl̃govérenь ʾi ml͒tivь | He was a merchant and seller, pious and merciful | 
| 7: | ʾi mnogo nemu bg̃ь daváše ʾimáne ♣ | And God was giving him a lot of wealth | 
| 8: | ʾi ʾwnь sve tovà ʾimenïe razdàvaše na siromási | And he gave a lot of that wealth to the poor | 
| 9: | ʾi póĭde dá ĭde po svoju trьgovínu | And he went to do his business | 
| 10: | ʾá edínь prosékь síromaxь prïide da sáka wt nego ml͒tínju za bg̃a | And one beggar came to him to beg alms for the God's sake | 
| 11: | ʾá ʾwnʾja xr͒toljubívi kupécь réče prosʾjáku | And that Christ-loving seller said to the beggar: | 
| 12: | nalí me vidišь bráte čé smь pošélь na pútь | ʺO brother, do you see, that I have gone to a journeyʺ | 
| 13: | ʾi tovar móĭ puštíxь | ʺAnd I sent my wares (before me)ʺ | 
| 14: | ʾōtidè naprédь | ʺIt went before meʺ | 
| 15: | ʾi né mamь ʾu rúke níšto da tì dadémь | ʺAnd I have nothing in my hands to give youʺ | 
| 16: | no molí se bg̃u za méne da s͛mь žívь | ʺBut pray to God for me, so that I remain aliveʺ | 
| 17: | ta kogí se vrьnémь ʾjá štemь tì dà za bg̃a kolíko sákašь | ʺAnd when I return, I will give you for God as much as you wantʺ | 
| 18: | ʾá prosékw réče na kupcá togo | And the beggar said to the merchant: | 
| 19: | káde štemь veče ʾjá tébe da vidim da mì dadešь ml͒tinʾja zá bg̃a | ʺWhere will I see you, so that you give me alms for God?ʺ | 
| 20: | ʾá kupécь réče | And the merchant said: | 
| 21: | ti bráte méne čekáĭ paki va tía dnì | ʺYou, o brother, wait for me these days againʺ | 
| 22: | ʾjá štemь pa túka da mínemь | ʺI will pass by here againʺ | 
| 23: | ʾi tì ʾáko me ne nàʾidéšь ʾela | ʺAnd if you will not meet me, come,ʺ | 
| da ti pokážemь kadè štémь da tì ʾwstavimь što mè bg̃ь náʿuči | ʺmay I show you, where I'll leave what God taught (?) meʺ | |
| 24: | ʾi pokazá mu | And he showed him | 
| 25: | etè | ʺSee!ʺ | 
| 26: | pódь tujù ds͛ku štémь da tì ʾwstávim | ʺBeneath this slab I will leave (something) for youʺ | 
| 27: | ʾá tì zemì što naĭdešь | ʺAnd you take what you findʺ | 
| 28: | ʾi molì bg̃a za méne- | ʺAnd pray to God for meʺ | 
| 29: | ʾi reče prósjako | And the beggar said: | 
| 30: | bl̃gu dumu tì produmà gospodíne móĭ | ʺYou said a good thing, my lordʺ | 
| 31: | ʾi otidé si kupécь po svóju trьgovínu | And the merchant went to do his business | 
| 32: | ʾi mínu gódina | And a year passed | 
| 33: | ʾi dóĭde prosjáko na tovà mésto deto mù béše pokázalь kupéco ʾwnuju d͛sku | And the beggar went to that place, where the merchant showed him the slab | 
| 34: | ʾi podignu ju | And he lifted it | 
| 35: | ʾi naĭde, podь dsku tu sokróvište zláto wt wdávna skríto | And undear the slab he found a golden treasure hidden a long time ago | 
| 36: | ʾi dóĭde nóštemь | And he came there at night | 
| 37: | ta ĭzvadi ʾwnova zláto | And he took out the gold | 
| 38: | ʾi stánu bogátь ʾónja prósekь | And the beggar became rich | 
| 39: | ʾi kupi si dvoróve mnogocéni | And he bought himself precious palaces | 
| 40: | ʾi kúpi si robíe, ʾi robin͛ki ʾi séla ʾi lózia ʾi volóvь ʾi kamili ʾi kw´ni ʾi maskì | And he bought himself servants (m/f), and villages, and vineyards, and oxen, and camels, and horses, and mules, | 
| ʾi svekakvo kakvóto ʾima po drúgi boljáre | and everything what other boyars have | |
| 41: | ʾá u négo ʾwšte po goléma ràbota | But he had even more | 
| 42: | ʾi uze sébe žénu wt boljar͛sko koleno | And he took himself a wife from a boyar stock | 
| 43: | ʾi poče da xódi na golémo na boljár͛stvo | And he became to live as a big boyar | 
| 44: | ʾi stánu slávenь | And he became famous | 
| 45: | ʾi po nékolko dnì doĭde, ʾónja bl̃gover͛ni kupécь na tóva mésto | And after some days that pious merchant came to that place | 
| 46: | ʾi pómenu ʾónogóva siromáxa prosjáka | And he remembered that poor beggar | 
| 47: | ʾi uze, mnógo žlьtíci ʾu rúke | And he took a lot of denars by hand | 
| 48: | ʾi sakáše da gì túri pódь ʾónúju d͛sku što sè béše ʾobréklь ʾónomuva síromáxu | And he wanted to put them beneath that slab, as he had promised that poor man | 
| 49: | ʾi prïĭde da gì ʾóstàvi | And he came there to leave them there | 
| 50: | ʾá díăvolь porazì ʾónogóva kupca | But the Devil struck the merchant | 
| 51: | ʾi páde na négo ʾjázva źla | And a very bad illness fell on him | 
| 52: | ráni po svá ta mu snága | (He had) wounds all over the body | 
| 53: | krь´vь ʾi gnóĭ tečéše wt négo wt glavu do nóge katò na bl̃žénago ïʾwva | Blood and pus poured from him, from the head to toe, like from the blessed Job | 
| 54: | ʾi mnogo vréme nosì kupécь tʾija ráni | And the merchant carried those wounds for a long time | 
| 55: | ʾi trážeše vráča da gò ʾiscéli | And he searched for a doctor to heal him | 
| 56: | ʾi zarádi tía ráni ʾizdade si své to ʾimenïe na vráčki | And because of those wounds he spent all of his wealth to doctors | 
| 57: | ʾi nému níšto ne ʾwstanu | And nothing remained to him | 
| 58: | ʾwstanù siromáxь kupéco | The merchant became poor | 
| 59: | ʾi póĭdè da prósi za bg̃a ml͒tínju | And he went to beg for alms for the sake of God | 
| 60: | ʾi zanése go ml̂tívi bg̃ь u togóva čl̃veka detò béše naprédь prosek | And God the merciful brought him to that man, who was a beggar before | 
| ʾi posle stánu bogátь detò náĭde źláto to pódь ʾónuju d͛sku | and then he had become rich, as he found gold under that slab | |
| 61: | ta u negóvь dómь prïide kupéco da prósi za bg̃a | And to his house the merchant came to beg for the sake of God | 
| 62: | ʾi ʾónja bogáti čl̃vekь prífanu togóva ránenago proséka | And that rich man took that wounded beggar | 
| 63: | ʾi misleše da gò drьžì na svóĭ dómь da go čúva ʾi da go xráni | And he thought to hold him in the house to care for him and feed him | 
| 64: | ʾi popita go | And he asked him: | 
| 65: | ti wt kude ʾidešь, stranïče | ʺWhere are you from, o stranger?ʺ | 
| 66: | ʾi kakví su tía ráni na tébe | ʺAnd what are those wounds on you?ʺ | 
| 67: | ʾi tolko ljúta bólesь ʾima na tébe | ʺAnd you have quite a fierce illnessʺ | 
| 68: | ʾá ʾónь ʾemu po rédu ʾiskazà svè | But he told him everything thoroughly | 
| 69: | ʾi razumè bg̃átija člóvekь če zaradì togóva čl̃véka dáde ʾemu bg̃ь tol͛kova bogat͛stvo | And the rich man understood, that because of that man God gave him so much wealth | 
| 70: | ʾi reče mu | And he said to him: | 
| 71: | w͒ brate tí li béše ʾednò vréme bolʾjarinь ʾi kupec | ʺO brother, were you not once a boyar and a merchant?ʺ | 
| 72: | ʾi wnь reče | And he said: | 
| 73: | ʾázь ʾesmь bráte | ʺIt is me, o brotherʺ | 
| 74: | togíva réče bogatija čl̃vékь | Then the rich man said: | 
| 75: | ʾw ml͒tívi ugódniče móĭ bráte tova ti što vídišь ʾu dvórь móĭ xubósь | ʺO merciful helper, my brother, what you see in my court, my beauty,ʺ | 
| svè zaradi tebè daruva méne bg̃ь što náĭdoxь ʾimane podь ʾónuju d͛sku | ʺeverything was gifted by God to me because of you, as I found a treasure under that slabʺ | |
| 76: | ʾá siromaxь kupécь ʾi tóĭ razume | And the poor merchant understood | 
| 77: | ʾi reče | And he said: | 
| 78: | ʾw bg͂ati čl͂veče ʾi braté móĭ ʾi | ʺO you rich man and my brother,ʺ | 
| ʾi méne diávolь turi taja źla ʾi ljuta bolestь zaradì tébe | ʺand the Devil put this evil and fierce illness on me because of youʺ | |
| 79: | togíva se sažalè na bogátija, čl̃vekь | Then the rich man became sorry | 
| 80: | ʾi réče | And he said: | 
| 81: | ʾw čl̃veče bž̃ïĭ ʾáko bude napadla taja bólestь na tébe zaradì méne ʾá ti se ne bóĭ | ʺO you man of God, if the illness fell on you because of me, have no fearʺ | 
| 82: | dob͛rь e gd͒ь | ʺThe Lord is goodʺ | 
| 83: | ʾi ne štešь da izleznešь paki, wt dómь móĭ bólenь | ʺYou will not leave my house illʺ | 
| 84: | ʾi wt trьpezu moju ne šteš da ʾwstánešь gládenь | ʺAnd you will not remain hungry at (ʺfromʺ) my tableʺ | 
| 85: | ʾi počitá štem te dogdé si žívь | ʺAnd I will honor you as long as you liveʺ | 
| 86: | ʾi priémna go u dómь svóĭ | And he took him into his house | 
| 87: | ʾi dade mu kéliju ʾi xubavu postílkju da sedì | And he gave him a room, and a nice bed to sit | 
| 88: | ʾi dade mu slúga da mu slugúva | And he gave him a servant to serve him | 
| 89: | ʾi onja boljárin sam͛ sì poìde da privodi xítri vračéve da lekuvatь kupcá togo | And that boyar brought good doctors by himself, so that they heal the merchant | 
| 90: | ʾi mnógo vračóve privódi | And he brought many doctors | 
| 91: | ʾi ne može ni edinь vračь da izlekúva toja zlь nedugь | And not a single doctor could heal that evil malady | 
| 92: | ʾi posle dóĭde ʾedinь vračь | And then one doctor came | 
| 93: | ʾi reče | And he said: | 
| 94: | vidíté li taja źla bolesь ʾi tia zlì rani | ʺDo you see this bad illness and those bad wounds?ʺ | 
| 95: | ne može níkoĭ da gi ʾózdrávì nitì da gì ʾisceli | ʺNothing can make them healthy or heal themʺ | 
| 96: | tokò ʾákw ʾima nékoi dete prьvenécь da go zakólete | ʺOnly if someone would have a first-born baby, may you kill itʺ | 
| 97: | ʾi sasь taja krь´vь da namážete togóva čl͂veka wt glávu do nógi | ʺAnd then smear that blood on that man from head to toeʺ | 
| 98: | ta wt tová šte da wzdráve ʾónь | ʺAnd by that he will be healedʺ | 
| 99: | ʾá wt drugo níšto ne móže ʾwzdráve toja čelovékь | ʺBut nothing else can heal that manʺ | 
| 100: | ʾi kakvo ču tája dúma ʾwnja bogáti čl̃vékь ʾi turi ju na srdce svóè | And as he heard that word, the rich man took it to his heart | 
| 101: | če ʾimaše ʾónь detè prьven͛če mladen͛če | For he had a first-born baby | 
| 102: | ʾi pómisli da sì zakóle deté to zaradì, togóva čl͂veka da gò ʾwzdrávi | And he tought to kill his own child because of that man, to heal him | 
| 103: | ʾi gledaše da ĭdè žená ta mu négde da ju né ma domà | And he was waiting for his wife to go somewhere, so that she is not at home, | 
| da si zakóle deté to ta da ʾwzdrávi togóva bolnago človéka | so that he would kill the child and heal that ill man | |
| 104: | ʾi dóĭde dénь ʾi časь | And the day and hour came | 
| 105: | ta ōtide žená ta mu na bánju da sì ʾómíe snágu ʾi glávu | And his wife went to a bath, to wash her body and head | 
| 106: | ʾi wkupá si deté to | And she washed her baby | 
| 107: | ʾi podoi go | And she fed it | 
| 108: | ʾi turi go u lúl͛kja da spì dogdè dóĭde ʾonà wt bánja ta | And she put it into a crib to sleep, until she returns from the bath | 
| 109: | ʾí ʾōtidè na banju | And she went to the bath | 
| 110: | ʾá baštà na deté tʾw stánu | But her father stood up upon the child | 
| 111: | ʾi vleze u xížu | And he went into the house | 
| 112: | ʾi naide deten͛ce to si, svoe tureno u lul͛ku prékrito ʾi zaspalo kato ʾjágne | And he found his child placed in the crib, covered and sleeping like a lamb | 
| 113: | ʾá wnь bi tol͛ko ne ml͒tivь | And he was so merciless | 
| 114: | ʾi uze gw bez mílosti | And he took him without mercy | 
| 115: | ʾi ne požáli za svóe mílo deten͛ce mladen͛če | And he did not spare his nice little baby | 
| 116: | ʾi zákla go | And he slaughtered it | 
| 117: | ʾi istoči mu krьv tá ta ʾu ʾedna manečka kopánja | And he poured his blood into a small bowel | 
| 118: | ʾi pakь zanése svóe mrь´tvo deten͛ce | And then he brought his dead child back | 
| 119: | ʾi pa go turi mrьtvo u lul͛kja ta | And he placed it dead in the crib | 
| 120: | ʾi prékri go kakvóto e í go béše prekríla máĭka mu | And he covered it, like his mother had done | 
| 121: | ʾi povede ʾónogóva bólnago čl̃veka na skríto mésto | And he took the ill man to a hidden place | 
| 122: | ʾi sobléče go golь | And he stripped him naked | 
| 123: | ʾi uze, ʾwnaja krь´vь wt deté to | And he took that blood from the child | 
| 124: | ʾi pomaza bolná togo čl̃veka wt glávu do nóge | And he smeared that ill man from head to toe | 
| 125: | ʾi kakvo mu pomáza teló to ʾi tója časь ʾwzdráve | And as he smeared his body, he became healthy at the moment, | 
| kakvoto si e bílь zdrávь ʾi prьvínь | as he was healthy before | |
| 126: | tová čudo sotvori bg̃ь da verúvame pó ĭstinu | That miracle was done by God for us to believe | 
| 127: | zaštò gd͒ь bg̃ь mnogo milova tíja ml͒tívi čl͂veci detò davatь siromáxu za bg̃a | Because Lord God loves the merciful ones, who give to poor (alms) for the God's sake | 
| 128: | vídite li xr͒tiʾjáni kolíko ljúbovь ʾimaše toʾjá čl͂vkь za bg̃a | Do you see, o Christians, how much love did have that man for God? | 
| 129: | ta ʾi dete svóe zákla zaradì mílostь bž̃íju | He even killed his own child for God's mercy! | 
| 130: | ʾi dóĭde wt banju maĭka na dete tw | And the mother came back from the bath to the child | 
| 131: | ʾi vléze u xížu | And she entered the house | 
| 132: | ʾi prïide da si zéme deté to da si go podóĭ | And she went to take the child to feed it | 
| 133: | ʾi wtkri na déte licé to | And she uncovered the face of the child | 
| 134: | ʾi wno fanu da pláče katò svéko detè | And it began to cry like every baby | 
| 135: | ʾi ču bašta na dete to glásь če pláče | And the father heard the voice of the child, that it cries | 
| 136: | ʾá ʾwnь skoro dotrʾь´ča da vídi kákvo bì tova čúdo | And he quickly ran there, to see the miracle | 
| 137: | ʾi vide, svóe detè páki ʾwžívelo | And he saw the child, having become alive again | 
| 138: | ʾi reče | And he said: | 
| 139: | xvála bg̃u | ʺPraise (be) to God!ʺ | 
| 140: | ja tovà moe dete zaklaxь za ʾiscelénïe tw´muva čl̃veku | ʺI slaughtered this child of mine to heal that manʺ | 
| 141: | ʾá bg̃ь nášь ʾis͂sь xr͒tósь stóri čudesa | ʺBut our God Jesus Christ made miracles!ʺ | 
| 142: | ta go ʾwžívi zaradì nasь ʾi za vera da verúvame ʾi da proslávime bg̃a | ʺAnd he revived it because of us for the sake of faith to believe and to praise Godʺ | 
| 143: | vídite li xr͒tiáni kakvo číni bg̃ь znamenïe ʾi čudesa | Do you see, o Christians, what signs and miracles does God make? | 
| 144: | bolnago ʾwzdrávi | He heals the ill | 
| 145: | ʾá mer͛tvago ʾwžívi | And He revives the dead | 
| 146: | Tomu že sláva ʾi čt̃ь ʾi poklonenïe | To Him (be) the glory and honor and respect, | 
| ʾócu i sñu ʾi st̃omu dx͂u | to Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, | |
| nʾině ʾi prísno ʾi vo véki vekóvь | now and ever and forever | |
| 147: | ʾáminь .:. | Amen | 
| 148: | sé bo bg̃ь ʾóbóju rádi véri, sotvóri ʾi ml͒tíni radi | For this God had done for the sake of both faith and mercy, | 
| ʾi ljubve ʾi ʾw bratstve | and (for the sake of both) love and brotherhood, | |
| ʾi ʾw ne verujuštíxь da véru ʾimutь | and (for the sake of) unbelievers, so that they believe | |
| 149: | próčee ml͒tь bž͂ïa | And the following (is?) mercy of God |
