16: ta béše junákь ʾi borécь And he was a hero and duellist
17: ʾime mu béše lía His name was Lyaeus
18: ʾi xválešé se And he praised himself
19: ʾi dúmaše And he spoke:
20: ne móže se naméri nígdè čl̃vek da prebóri líju ʺThere can be no man found anywhere, who could overcome Lyaeus.ʺ
21: tovà ʾizreče máѯimianь That was said by Maximian
22: ʾi nàméri se ʾedno mládo mómče u tója čásь And at the time they found a young boy
23: ʾi nému beše ʾime néstorь And his name was Nestor
24: ʾi ʾwno kato ču taja falà ʾa nému se razígra srdce to And having heard that praise, his heart began to dance
25: ʾi wtíde u temnícu pri st̃ago dʾimítriju And he want to the dungeons, to St. Demetrius
26: ta mu sè pomoli And he prayed him
27: ʾi uze bl͒govenïe wt nego And he took a blessing from him
28: pa izléze na polʾjánu deto se béxa zbráli sví te knézove ʾi voivodi ʾi gd͒re maѯimiánovi And then he went out to the meadow, where all the princes and dukes and lords of Maximian assembled
29: ʾi maѯimíanь sedi na stólь And Maximian sat on a throne
30: ta gléda čúdo And he looked at the miracle
31: ʾi duma And he thinks (says?):
32: što štè da stóri néstorь What will Nestor do?
33: móže li ʾónь preboríti moego samobor͛ca liju Could he defeat my champion Lyaeus?
34: ʾi reče maѯimianь And Maximian said:
35: maxní se néstore ʺGo away, o Nestorʺ
36: šte da tì stróši kósti móĭ borécь lia My champion Lyaeus will crush your bones
37: ʾi nestorь potáĭno se bg̃u ʾi dimítriju móleše And Nestor secretly prayed to God and Demetrius
38: ʾi saplétoxu se dvóʾica ta sásь liju And the two seized each other (ʺwith Lyaeusʺ)
39: ʾi nestórь závrьte liju And Nestor turned Lyaeus
40: ʾi ʾoudarí go na zémlju And he striked (with) him on the ground
41: ʾi sví te mu stávi ʾisprevíva, And all his joints were twisted
42: ʾi čeljusti ʾi zubí mu ʾi ʾóč̃i ʾispadnúxa And his jaws and teeth and eyes fell out
43: togíva Víde cr̃ь maѯimianь če zlè ubi néstorь líju Then Emperor Maximian saw, that Nestor had beaten Lyaeus badly
44: ʾi ʾjáko se ʾws͛krьbi da ne bì umrelь samoborecь lía And the Emperor became very concerned, so that his gladiator Lyaeus would not die
45: ʾi pomisli cr̃ь And the emperor thought
46: ʾi réče and he said:
47: tóva mom͛če nikógi ne bi prebórilo líju ʺThat boy would never have defeated Lyaeusʺ
48: no razuméxь če mu e dálь dímitria bl͂góslovénïe ʺBut I understood, that Demetrius gave him a blessingʺ
49: ta sa͒ negóva síla posrámenь ʾwstaxь ja prédь knézove móĭ ʺAnd thus I remained ashamed in front of my princesʺ
50: ʾi po tova skóro zapráti vóĭne u temenícu detò béše vrь´zanь st̃ь dimítria And afterwards he soon sent soldiers into the dungeon, where St. Demetrius was tied
51: ʾi na tovà mesto zbodóša rebra tá mu sásь kópïe And on site they pierced his ribs with a spear
52: ʾi prestavi se st̃ì dimitria And St. Demetrius presented himself (died)
53: ʾi tako ʾwstvi dš̃u svoju And thus he gave his soul
54: ʾi mnógo ʾiscelenïè ʾi čudesa preslávnăja po samrьti číneše st̃i dimítria: And St. Demetrius did many healings and glorious miracles after his death
55: ʾi va tovà vréme kogí se prestávi st̃i dimitria ʾimaše ʾedínь mom͛kь, cr̃kóvnikь And at the time, when St. Demetrius died, there was a boy, a sexton
56: béše mu ʾime ʾónisíforь His name was Onesiphorus
57: ta sedéše u cr̃kvu st̃ómu dimítriju And he sat in a church of St. Demetrius
58: ta páleše svéšti, na svéštnici te And he lit candles for the priests
59: ʾi své go podígaše diavolь da číni źlo And he was constantly driven by the Devil to do evil
60: svéšti ʾi lam͛badi ʾisь cr̃kvu kradnéše He was stealing candles and lamps from the church
61: ta gì prodávaše And then he was selling them
62: ʾi mnogo púti tovà źlo číneše And he was doing this evil for many times
63: ʾá st̃i dimítria ne móže da utrьpí zloum͛nomu ʾi pagubnomu ʾemu nesmislénïju But St. Demetrius could not suffer this evil-minded and self-destroying mindlessness
64: nelo mu se ʾjávi ná sьnь Thus he appeared to him in a dream
65: ʾi učèše go da e bl͂gorazúmenь ʾi krótokь And he was teaching him to be well-minded and modest
66: ʾi réče mu st̃i dimítria And St. Demetrius said to him:
67: bráte w͒nisífore ne mí e ugódno tovà delo štóto tì činišь sásь sveští te ʺO brother Onesiphorus, I do not like your actions with the candlesʺ

71: ʾi rastè na tébe ʾwsuždénïe téško ʺAnd a harsh judgement is growing upon youʺ
72: ʾá tì mene ne štéšь da dosádišь sásь kráž͛bu ʺAnd you will not annoy me by the theftʺ
73: zaštò méne mnógo naródь prinósi svéšti ʺBecause many people bring me candlesʺ
74: ʾi koí se, trúdi za méne ʾi ʾjá mnógo gríža ʾimamь za négo ʺAnd who works for me, I care a lot for him tooʺ

77: ʾi togiva se ʾónisíforь razbudi And then Onesiphorus woke up
78: ʾi dobre sь´nь zamótre And he remembered the dream well
79: ʾi razume And he understood (it)
80: ʾi upláši se ʾjákw And he became very scared
81: ʾi reče And he said:
82: w͒ gd͒i zaštò ʾjá činíxь tova źlo ʺO Lord, why did I do thus evil?ʺ
83: ʾá drugi čl̃vékь bl͂gočestívь stánulь ʾédnò ʾjutro ráno And another pious man got up early one morning
84: ʾi zanelь svéšti golémi u crьkvu st̃omu dimítriju And he brought big candles to the church of St. Demetrius
85: ʾi zápali gì And he lighted them
86: ʾi pokloni͒ And he bowed
87: i izléze nádvorь And he went out
88: ʾá st̃i dimítria, léži u kovčegь zlátenь And St. Demetrius lays in a golden coffin
89: slušaʾite, Listen!
90: ʾi smotréte And see!
91: ʾi dobré se razuméĭte bráte kolíko ne móžeše st̃i dimítrià da trьpì zlomisal͛nago čl̃veka And do understand well, brother(s), how St. Demetrius could not suffer this evil-thinking man
92: ʾónisiforь prúži rúku da zéme sveštu Onesiphorus stretched his hand to take the candle,
što béše donel ʾónja bl͂góčestívь čl̃vékь which had been brought by that pious man
93: ʾá glásь ʾizíde st̃ómu dímitriju ʾis kóvčegь And a voice of St. Demetrius came out of the coffin
94: ʾi réče And it said:
95: ʾónisífore páki li tovà čúdo čínišь ʺO Onesiphorus, do you do this (ʺmiracleʺ) again?
96: ne uboja li se wt stráxa bž̃ía ʺDid you not get scared by the fear of God?ʺ
97: ʾi katò ču toʾjá glásь ʾónísiforь padè na zémlju ljúto ʾi strášno And as he heard the voice, Onesiphorus fell to the ground fiercely and terribly,
katò wt gromь, strášni udárenь as if hit by a terrible thunder
98: ʾi doĭde pevécь ʾisь cr͂kvu st̃ómu dimítriju And a singer came from the church of St. Demetrius
99: ʾi vdigna gò wt deto béše na zémlju pádnulь And he raised him from the ground, where he had fallen
100: ʾi nakaza go st̃i dimitria And St. Demetrius gave him a punishment
101: ʾi posle sámь sebè ʾispovéda predь svì ljudíe za svoégo ne smislénago derznovénïja And afterwards he confessed himself in front of all the people for his senseless daring
102: zašto st̃i dimítria ne uči tokò négo samágo Because St. Demetrius did not teach only him only,
no ʾi drúgi mnógo čl̃veci da poznájutь čudésa st̃omu but also other people, to know the miracles of the saint
103: ʾI va tovà vréme kogì zbodóxa ʾidole te st̃ágo dimitriju va temnícu tu And in that time, when the idol(ater)s killed St. Demetrius in the dungeon,
béše mc͒ь ʾoktomvria vъ *kź* dénь it was the Month of October, on the 26th day
104: béše trúsь velíkь ʾi strašen ʾu kóstan͛dinovь grádь There was a big and terrible earthquake in the Constantinople
105: ʾi xíži te ʾimь popadáxu And their houses were falling
106: ʾi mnógo čéljadь po xíži te pogináxu And many people in the houses perished
107: ʾi sámomu cr̃igrádu stení te pádoša And the walls of Tsarigrad itself fell down
108: ʾi cr̃kvi mnógw popadáxu And many temples fell down
109: ʾi mn͒tre mnógo rasipáša se And many monasteries fell apart
110: zaštó se dve gódini zemljá ta trusèše Because the ground was shaking for two years
111: ʾi mnogo čl̃véci, ʾizmréxu And many people died
112: ʾi more to wt mésto svóe ʾizidè And the sea flew out of its place
113: ʾi mnógo čl̃véci ʾi dobítakь ʾi gádi potópi And it drowned many people and cattle and vermin
114: togo rádi takóvi dénь st̃ago velíkomč̃nika dimítriju da praznúvame That is why we celebrate such a day for the Great Martyr Demetrius
115: ʾi da mu se poklánjame And may us pay him respect,
da ni ʾizbávi wt vasákija bédi ʾi napásti so that he saves us from any woes and dangers,
i da polúčime večnoe bl̃go and so that we receive the eternal bliss
116: ʾi cr̃ь máѯimiánь; réče And the Emperor Maximian said
117: ʾi st̃ago velíkomč̃nika nestora mьčemь posékwša And they killed the Holy Great Martyr Nestor (too)
118: ʾi tóĭ bg̃u dx͂ь predáde And he gave his soul to God
119: ʾi uspè sa miromь And he dormited with peace
120: bg̃u že, nášemu sláva, ʾi čt̃ь ʾi poklonenïe .:. beznačálnomu, ʾoc͂u, And be glory and honor and respect to our God,
so ʾedinoródnimь tvóĭmь sñómь to the beginning-less Father, with Yours only born Son,
ʾi vse st̃ímь, ʾi bl͂gimь, ʾi živótvoreštim tvoĭmь, dx̃omь, and with the Holy and good and life-giving Your Spirit
