какво̀ се ҆о́ни мꙋчи́хꙋ ҆и хрѝсто́вꙋ ве́рꙋ верꙋвáхꙋ ҆и мꙋки ҆и рáни претрьпе́хꙋ | how they were tormented and believed in the (ʺin the faith ofʺ) Christ, and what torment and wounds they suffered | |
2: | ҆ѡ коли́ко стрáхь ҆и бо́лести претрьпе́хꙋ | O, how much fear and pain they suffered! |
3: | ѡ͒ коли́ко ҆есꙋ мꙋчи́теле бе́зьбж҃ни | O, how faithless are the tormentors! |
4: | ѡ͒ коли́ко е͒сꙋ мꙋчи́теле не мл͒тиви | O, how merciless are the tormentors! |
5: | ѡ͒ коли́ко ҆есꙋ прокле́ти ҆ерети́ци | O, how accursed are the heretics! |
6: | послꙋ́шайте брáте | Listen, brothers! |
7: | ҆и добрѐ повер͛вайте | And have a good faith |
8: | ҆имаше ва ҆едно вре́ме ҆еди́нь Цр҃ь | Once upon a time there was a king |
9: | бе́ше ҆име ҆емꙋ саво́риꙗ | his name was Saborius |
10: | та имаше ҆о́нь едно́го забитина ве́рнаго | He had a loyal officer |
11: | та го пꙋ́щи по́ вила҆ето си да мꙋ бáди мири́ꙗ | and he sent him to around his vilayet to be his governor |
҆и да чꙋ́ва него́ва: ве́ра да сѐ не предáвать по хр͒тà бг҃а нашего | and to protect his religion, so that people would not give themselves over to Christ, our God | |
12: | ҆и на то́ꙗ заби́тинь бе́ше ҆име дáдиjӑ | And the name of that officer was Dadas |
13: | него брое́ше цр҃ь най ве́рень ҆и ѿ не́гов ве́ра | The king considered him to be the most faithful of his faith |
14: | та ре́че цр҃ь | So the king said: |
15: | то́jӑ мо́й заби́тинь ще да мѝ зачꙋва сви́чкиꙗ вилáеть да сѐ ни́кой не предадѐ по хр͒то́вꙋ ве́рꙋ | ʺThis officer will protect all of my vilayet from conversion to Christianityʺ |
16: | ҆á ҆ѡнь ҆е сасве би́ль верꙋваль во йме гд͒а, бг҃а, ҆и сп͒а, нáшегѡ ҆иис҃а хр͒та | But in fact he did believe in the name of our Lord God and Savior, Jesus Christ |
17: | ҆и какво̀ чꙋ цр҃ь саво́риꙗ товà чꙋ́до че е повервáль дáдиꙗ ва хр͒тà ҆á ѿ неговꙋ ве́рꙋ се ѿфрьлиль гор͛ко се расрьдѝ цр҃ь | and when the king Saborius heard (about) that miracle, that Dadas believed in Christ and forsake his own faith, he was bitterly angered |
18: | ҆и ре́че на дрꙋ́ги во́йводи ҆и на дрꙋ́ги, кне́зове ҆и на сво́҅его си́на гаве́дию беше́ мꙋ ҆име | and he said to other commanders, and other princes, and to his own son Gabdelas, as it was his name: |
19: | ско́ро ҆о́гнь накладе́те голе́мь | ʺMake a big bonfireʺ |
20: | ҆и накладо́ха ҆о́гнь голе́мь ко́лко да сѐ ꙋплáши кои ви́ди | And they made a fire so big, that who would see it, would be scared |
21: | ҆и ре́че цр҃ь саво́риа да фрь́ли дадїю ꙋ плáмено ҆огне́ни | And king Saborius told (him) to throw Dadas into the fiery flame |
22: | ҆и приве́доха го прѝ ҆огь́нꙗ́:. | And they brought him to the fire |
23: | ҆á ҆ѡн͛ се прекр͒ти | But he crossed himself |
24: | ҆и погледà ꙋ нб͒а | And looked to the sky |
25: | ҆и видѡ́ха че ꙋгáсна ҆о́гь́нꙗ | And they saw that the fire went out |
26: | ҆и по́йдѐ ҆изь ҆огьнꙗ вода | And out of the fire came water |
27: | ҆á ѡни́ се ҆ꙋдиви́ха каквá би та҆ꙗ́ чꙋдесà | And they were amazed at what this miracle would be |
28: | ҆á цр҃евь сн҃ь гаве́диѧ питà дади́ю | And the king's son Gabdelas asked Dadas |
29: | ҆ѡ любѝмиче мо́й ко́й тебѐ наꙋчи на такви́ва бáсни | ʺO my beloved one, who taught you such mythsʺ |
30: | та сáсь ҆еднà дꙋма ҆ꙋгаси тол͛ковь си́лень ҆о́гнь | ʺthat you put out such a strong fire with one word?ʺ |
31: | ҆á дадиꙗ мꙋ ре́че | And Dadas said to him: |
32: | ҆áко ще́шь ҆и ти́ дá се ҆ꙋчишь ѿ ме́не ҆á тѝ ще́шь да бꙋ́дешь бг҃ꙋ: достойнь | ʺIf you too want to learn from me, you would be worthy to Godʺ |
33: | тоги́ва ре́че гаве́диа | Then Gabdelas said: |
34: | ѡ͒ дадїе любимиче ҆áкѡ повер͛вамь ҆áзь хр͒тꙋ тво҅емꙋ можем͛ ли ҆и ҆ꙗ́ тако́й твори́ти | ʺO beloved Dadas, if I believe in your Christ, could I do thus?ʺ |
35: | ҆á дадиа мꙋ ре́че | And Dadas said to him: |
36: | ти повервай во хр͒та мое́го | ʺBelieve in my Christʺ |
37: | ти щешь ҆и да цр҃ꙋвашь сáсь не́го | ʺYou would reign with Himʺ |
38: | тоги́ва ре́че гаве́диа | Then Gabdelas said: |
39: | накладе́те ҆о́гнь голе́мь | ʺMake a big fireʺ |
40: | ҆á ҆ꙗ́ да сѐ помолим хр͒тꙋ̀ бг҃ꙋ да ви́ди́мь дали́ ще ꙋгáсна ҆о́гнь | ʺAnd I will pray to Christ the Lord to see if I will put out the fireʺ |
41: | ҆и ꙋчини́ такой гаве́диа | And Gabdelas did thus |
42: | ҆и рече | And he said: |
43: | гд͒и їи͒се хр͒те́ б҆ꙋди ҆и ме́не на по́мощь | ʺO Lord Jesus Christ, come to my aid!ʺ |
44: | токо рече та҆ꙗ́ дꙋма | He just said this |
45: | погасна ҆о́гнь | and the fire went out |
46: | какво̀ ви́де че ꙋгáсна то҆ꙗ́ стрáшни ҆о́гнь сáсь бж҃їем повеле́ниемь ҆и повер͛ва | When he saw that this terrible fire went out with God's will, he believed |
47: | ҆и р҆ечи | And he said: |
48: | ѡ͒ дади́е брáте мо́й возлюбле́ни ва ҆истинꙋ е би́ль тво́й бг҃ь си́лень | ʺO Dadas, my beloved brother, your God is indeed powerful!ʺ |
49: | токо ҆ꙗ́ продꙋмáх пѡ име | ʺI just called His nameʺ |
50: | чꙋ | ʺHe heardʺ |
51: | ӥ погáсна ҆о́гнь | ʺAnd the fire went out!ʺ |
52: | ҆и ҆ꙗ се́га верꙋ хр͒товꙋ вер͛вамь | ʺAnd now I believe in the faith of Christʺ |
53: | па ҆имаше цр҃ь саво́риꙗ ҆едного настойника | King Saborius had a guardian |
54: | бе́ше мꙋ ҆име гар͛галь | His name was Gargal |

58: | ҆ѡ: цр҃ꙋ тво́й синь гаве́диꙗ поверꙋвà вà хр͒тà | ʺO king, your son Gabdelas believed in Christʺ |
59: | ҆и кр͒ти се | ʺAnd he crossed himselfʺ |
60: | ҆и стáнꙋ хр͒ти҆анинь | ʺAnd he became a christianʺ |
61: | ҆á твою̀ ве́рꙋ прокли́нꙗ | ʺAnd he damned your faithʺ |
62: | ҆á ҆ѡц҃ь него́вь като̀ чꙋ т҆ова:. ҆á ҆ѡнь ре́че | And when his father heard this, he said: |
63: | ско́ро да мꙋ̀ тꙋри́те желе́зо на ши́ю ҆и на рꙋке ҆и на но́зе | ʺQuickly put an iron on his neck and arms and legsʺ |
64: | ҆и фрьле́те го ꙋ темни́цꙋ | ʺAnd throw him in a dungeonʺ |
65: | ҆и седѐ пе́ть днѝ затво́рень | And he sat locked up for five days |
66: | ҆и би́еха го сáсь волов͛си жи́ли коли́ко мꙋ сѐ ҆ѡдво́й ко́жа ѿ снáгꙋ | And they beat him with ox sinews until his skin separated from his body |
67: | ҆и ре́че насто́йникь гар͛галь цр҃ꙋ | And guardian Gargal said to the king: |
68: | дáй ми во́лꙗ да ҆ѡдере́мь ·в· реме́на ѿ геведию сн҃а тво́его ѿ но́ги дѡ́ глáвꙋ дано́ би ѿ бо́лести ҆ꙋмре́ль | ʺGive me will to tear two straps from your son Gabdelas from the feet to the head, in order for him to die of painʺ |
69: | ҆и ре́че Цр҃ь гар͛галꙋ | And the king said to Gargal: |
70: | ско́ро то́ва сотворѝ | ʺDo this quickly !ʺ |
71: | ҆и сотворѝ то́ва ѕло̀ гар͛галь | And Gargal did this evil |
72: | ҆ѡдра мꙋ два реме́на ѿ ноги до глáвꙋ | He tore two straps from the feet to the head |
73: | ҆и па го тꙋ́ри ҆ꙋ темни́цꙋ | And he put him in a dungeon |
74: | ҆и ре́че мꙋ | And he said to him: |
75: | да ви́димь гаве́дїе дали́ ще до́й тво́й хр͒то́сь дá те ѡздрáви | ʺLet us see, Gabdelas, if your Christ comes to heal youʺ |
76: | ҆и сáсь хр͒то́во повеле́нїе ҆ѡздрáве гаве́диа какво сї е би́ль | And with Christ's will Gabdelas healed as he had been |
77: | ҆и видѐ гар͛галь товà | And Gargal saw this |
78: | ҆и зама҆ꙗ́ мꙋ се пáметь | And his mind became dizzy |
79: | ҆и прїйде | And he went |
80: | ҆и казà, цр҃ꙋ. | And he told the king |
81: | ҆и цр҃ь ре́че | And the king said: |
82: | ꙋбѝ того́ва не чт͒и́ваго чл҃ве́ка | ʺKill that dishonorable man!ʺ |
83: | то́й не́ е мо́й си́нь | ʺHe is not my sonʺ |
84: | нело ѐ ѕло́мисмець | ʺHe is maliciousʺ |
85: | защо̀ веровà во хр͒тà | ʺfor he believes in Christʺ |
86: | тоги́ва гаргáль разьжежà раже́нь | Then Gargal heated up the fire iron |
87: | та мꙋ̀ провáли ꙋши́ те ҆изь ҆едно ꙋ дрꙋ́го | And he pierced his ears from one to the other |
88: | ҆и сась ꙋди́ца мꙋ тело̀ то сащи́па | And he pierced his body with a hook |
89: | пá го тꙋри́ха ва темни́ца | And they put him in a dungeon |
90: | ҆и ҆ѡнь се бг҃ꙋ мо́леше да мꙋ̀ дáде бг҃ь трьпенїе | And he prayed to God to give him patience |
91: | ҆и прїйдѐ ҆áнг҃ель гд͒нь | And the Angel of God came |
92: | извáди, раже́но ҆изь ꙋши́ те м | He pulled the fire iron out of his ears |
93: | ҆и ҆исцеле гаве́диꙗ | And Gabdelas healed |
94: | ҆и това чꙋдо видо́ха сви́ те стражáре темни́чни що вáр͛деха темни́ца та | All the dungeon watchmen, who were guarding the dungeon, saw this miracle too |
95: | ҆и сви те ҆ѿи́доха | And all of them went |
96: | ҆и казáхꙋ цр҃ꙋ | and they told the king |
97: | тоги́ва се ѡще расрьдѝ цр҃ь ѿ ҆ꙗдь | Then the king became more furious |
98: | бе́ше като побе:сне́ль | He was like rabid |
99: | ҆и па го ме́тна ꙋ темни́ца | And he threw him in the dungeon |
100: | и ре́че никои да не прїйде при не́го | And he said that no one should go to him |
101: | ҆á мáйка ҆и сестра него́ва жалеха мно́го за не́го | But his mother and sister lamented him a lot |
102: | ҆и не сме́еха. да прїйдꙋть ѿ цр҃а при не́го макáрь во́дꙋ да мꙋ дадꙋ́ть | And because of the king they did not even dare to go to him to give him water |
103: | ҆и ꙋкрáднꙋ се сестрá него́ва | And his sister sneaked in |
104: | ҆и додáде мꙋ во́дꙋ | And she brought him water |
105: | ҆и ре́че сестрá мꙋ на стражáра темни́чни | And his sister said to the dungeon guard: |
106: | що сѝ виде́ль ҆áко не́кѡмꙋ кáжешь ѿсе́чена бꙋ́деть глава тво́а | ʺIf you tell anyone what you saw, your head will be chopped!ʺ |
107: | ҆и ре́че цр҃ь темничáрꙋ | And the king said to the guard: |
108: | ҆ꙗ мно́го ѕло́ ҆и мꙋка тꙋрихь на мо́его си́на | ʺI put my son through much evil and sufferingʺ |
109: | ҆и ҆ѡще лї е жи́вь | ʺand is he still alive?ʺ |
110: | ҆á темничáрь ре́че | And the guard said: |
111: | ҆ѡнь ще мло́го да бꙋде жи́вь цр҃ꙋ | ʺHe will live much longer, o kingʺ |
112: | ҆á ҆ѡнь тоги́ва побеснѐ | And then he became furious |
113: | та ре́че | and he said: |
114: | ско́ро ко́жꙋ да мꙋ ҆ѡде́рете ҆и глáвꙋ | ʺQuickly flay his skin and headʺ |
115: | ҆и но́кти рꙋ́чни ҆и но́жни ҆ис ко́рень дá мꙋ ҆извади́те | ʺAnd remove his nails from hands and feet from their rootsʺ |
116: | ҆и зꙋби мꙋ ҆изь че́люсти ҆искорене́те | ʺAnd uproot the teeth from his jaws!ʺ |
117: | ҆и па гѡ ва темни́цꙋ, ꙋвлече́те | ʺAnd drag him into the dungeon!ʺ |
118: | ҆и сась ко́жа та мꙋ̀ лице́ то прекри́те като̀ на ѱе ꙋсмрьде́ло | ʺAnd cover his face with the skin, like a stinking dogʺ |
119: | то́й н(е) есть мо́й си́нь | ʺHe is not my sonʺ |
120: | но е маге́сникь | ʺHe is a sorcererʺ |
121: | ҆и седе ҆ѡдрáнь ва тем-ницꙋ ·и· д҆ни | And he sat skinned in the dungeon for eight days |
122: | ҆и бл҃годáреше бг҃а | And he was thanking God |
123: | ҆и ҆ѿиде темничáрь | And the guard went |
124: | ҆и каза цр҃ꙋ | and he told the king |
125: | ҆и рече | and he said: |
126: | ѡ͒ гд͒не ҆и кожꙋ ҆ѡдрахме ҆и главꙋ тво҆емꙋ си́нꙋ | ʺo lord, we have flayed the skin and head of your sonʺ |
127: | ҆и лице то мꙋ са͒ ко́жа та прекри́хме | ʺand we covered his face with skinʺ |
128: | па сегà ҆иди ҆и ти́ сáмь да ви́дишь каквá маги́а знáе | ʺAnd now you go and see for yourself what sorcery he knowsʺ |
129: | та се па ҆ѡблекль ꙋ ко́жа та си | ʺthat he put his skin onʺ |
130: | ҆и не повре́дил͛ се ни́щѡ ѿ нáше ѕло̀ мꙋче́нїе | ʺand he did not suffer any harm from our evil torture!ʺ |
131: | ҆и прїйде цр҃ь саворїꙗ | And king Saborius came |
132: | ҆и сáмь сáсь ҆о́чи ви́де тако́во преслáвное чꙋдо | and saw with his own eyes such holy wonder |
133: | ѡ͒ тврь́да дш҃а гаве́дина би́ла | o, the soul of Gabdelas was hard (to break)! |
134: | ҆а тѡ сам͛ си гд͒ь бг҃ь нáшь ҆исꙋсь хр͒то́сь не́мꙋ; дáль трьпе́нїе | But Lord Jesus Christ Himself has given him patience! |
135: | ҆и не ꙋсе́щаше болесть коги мꙋ ко́жа та де́реха | And he did not feel any pain while they were skinning him |
136: | но гле́даше на нб҃о | but he was looking to the sky |
137: | ҆и потàино бг҃а моле́ше | and he was secretly praying to God |
138: | ҆и бг҃ь не ҆ѡстави рабà свое́го | but God did not leave His servant |
139: | ҆и прост҃е мꙋ лицѐ като ѕве́зда | and He illuminated his face like a star |
140: | ҆и изь҆ꙗ́ви́ мꙋ бг҃ь | and God gave him a vision |
141: | та видѐ васѐ ст҃ꙋю красотꙋ̀ небе́снꙋю | |
142: | по́сле при́иде гар͛галь що го̀ най. мно́го мꙋ́чеше | Then Gargal came, who tortured him the most |
143: | ҆и дꙋ́маше мꙋ | and he said: |
144: | ѡ͒ гаве́дие брáте помоли́ се хр͒тꙋ̀ тво́҅емꙋ | ʺO brother Gabdelas, pray to your Christ!ʺ |
145: | мо́лим ти́ се рабе бж҃їй | ʺPlease, servant of Godʺ |
146: | поменѝ ҆и ме́не пре́дь хр͒тà твое́гѡ. | ʺRemember me in front of your Christʺ |
147: | ҆и ре́че мꙋ ст҃и гаве́диа | And saint Gabdelas said to him: |
148: | гар͛галие вер͛вай ҆и тѝ ва хр͒та да ҆избáви ҆и те́бе ѿ све зло що сѝ сотвори́ль ҆и ре́че гар͛гáль | ʺGargal, believe you too in Chrst so He saves you too from all evil you have done!ʺ And Gargal said: |
149: | ве́рвамь ҆и ҆ꙗ́ твоѐ ҆име гд͒и їйс͒е хр͒те | ʺI too believe (in) Your name, Lord Jesus Christ!ʺ |
150: | ҆и преедини́ се при гаве́дїю | And he joined Gabdelas |
151: | ҆и | |
приѐ чт͒ни вен͛ць | And he accepted the honorable laurel | |
152: | ҆á цр҃ь прати свою̀ дще́рь ҆име́ й бе́ше каздо да раздꙋ́ма брáта си гаве́дїю | And the king sent his daughter, her name was Kazda, to dissuade her brother Gabdelas |
153: | ҆á ѡнà ҆ѿидѐ | But she went |
154: | ҆и ви́де чꙋдесà какво чинеше гаведїꙗ преславнаꙗ чꙋдесà | and she saw the holy miracles he was working |
155: | ҆á но́й дойде ми́лось | And she was overcome with mercy |
156: | и ҆ѡна се при́стꙋпи во ҆име хр͒то́во | And she also joined (them) in the name of Christ |
157: | ҆и ре́че брáтꙋ си | And she said to her brother: |
158: | гаве́дїе вели́кь бг҃ь е би́ль хр͒тось твои | ʺGabdelas, your Christ is a great God!ʺ |
159: | брáте ҆и ꙗ верꙋвам во ҆име хр͒то́во | ʺBrother, I too believe in the name of Christ!ʺ |
160: | ҆á бащá й рáзбра че й ѡна се предáла хр͒тꙋ̀ | And her father found out that she too had yielded herself to Christ |
161: | та ре́че да ю затво́рать ꙋ темни́цꙋ | So he ordered for her to be locked up in the dungeon |
162: | ҆и като ю̀ затво́риха ҆á врагь й сторѝ пáкость | And when she was locked, an enemy did her harm |
163: | лице́ то й ҆и снагá та бе́ше свѐ рáна | Her face and her body were covered in wounds |
164: | а ҆ѡна ре́че гаве́дїю | And she said to Gabdelas: |
165: | брáте помоли́ се бг҃ꙋ за ме́не да ми д҆áде трьпенїе да ме не́ болать рáни те | ʺBrother, pray to God for me that he gives me patience so my wounds do not hurtʺ |
166: | ҆á ст҃и гаве́дїа ре́че | And saint Gabdelas said: |
167: | ҆áко се покр͒тишь бг҃ь ще тѝ помо́гна. | ʺIf you cross yourself, God will help youʺ |
168: | сестро не бо́й се | ʺSister, fear not!ʺ |
169: | ҆á оц҃ь ни́хань рече | And their father said: |
170: | ско́ро приведе́те ми д͛щерь мою̀ каздꙋ ҆и врьже́те ю рꙋце те ҆и нозе́ те | ʺQuickly bring my daughter Kazda to me and tie her arms and legsʺ |
171: | ҆и ѡбесете ю сáсь глáвꙋ нá доле | ʺand hang her upside downʺ |
172: | ҆и принесете ми желе́за горе́щи да и ҆изго́римь свѐ снáга та | ʺand bring me hot iron to burn her whole bodyʺ |
173: | ҆и принесе́те ми ҆ѡ́стри ражнѝ дá й збодемь лице́ то ҆и ҆ѡчи́ те | ʺand bring me sharp fire irons to gouge out her face and eyesʺ |
174: | ҆и́ мно́го мꙋченїе мꙋчи ю̀ цр҃ь саво́риа | And king Saborius tortured her a lot |
175: | ҆и па ю зáтво́ри ꙋ темницꙋ | And he locked her up in the dungeon |
176: | ҆и ѡнà бл҃годáри бг҃а. | And she thanked God |
177: | ҆и дꙋ́маше | And she was saying: |
178: | ҆ѡ ст҃и гаве́дие брáте ҆ако бꙋде, возмо́жно принеси́ ми мáсло ҆и во́дꙋ д҆а се кр͒ти́мь | ʺO saint Gabdelas, brother, if it is possible, bring me oil and water to baptize myself!ʺ |
179: | ҆áко ли́ не е возмо́жно ҆á ти́ се брате помолѝ бг҃ꙋ дано́ би се сп͒ла ҆и мо҆ꙗ та дш҃а | ʺIf it is not possible, you, brother, pray to God, so my soul would be saved!ʺ |
180: | ҆и еди́нь ча͒ дойде маль ҆ѡблакь като̀ м͛гла | At one time a small cloud like a fog came |
181: | ҆излиа н҆а глáвꙋ ҆ей во́дꙋ ҆и масло | It poured water and oil on her head |
182: | ҆и глáсь ҆изь ҆о́блакѡ продꙋма | And a voice spoke from within the cloud |
183: | кр͒тила се ҆есѝ рáбо бж҃їа | ʺYou have baptized yourself, servant of Godʺ |
184: | ҆и просвети́ла се ҆есѝ кáто̀ све́ть | ʺAnd you have enlightened yourself like a saintʺ |
185: | ҆á тоги́ва цр҃ь саво́риа като чꙋ че се ѐ кр͒тила казда ҆а ҆ѡнь ре́че на ҆едно́го слꙋга | And then, when king Saborius found out Kazda had baptized herself, he said to one servant: |
186: | та ҆изѡстри́: трьсти́ги | So he sharpened reed |
187: | та ги набо́де кáзди дв҃ици по снагá та | and he sticked them all over the virgin Kazda's body |
188: | ҆и све́ки ча͒ боде́ха сáсь маздрáци | and every hourd they stabbed with spears |
189: | ҆и на васáки чась бг҃а моле́ше | And at every hour she prayed to God |
190: | ҆и предаде бг҃ꙋ дш҃ꙋ сво́ю̀ ва рꙋ́це | And she yielded up her ghost into God's hands |
191: | ҆и коги́ ꙋ́мре ҆и предáде бг҃ꙋ дш҃ꙋ ҆á бащá и́ ре́че | And when she died and yielded up her soul, her father said: |
192: | расечете мою дщерь на трѝ де́лове | ʺChop my daughter into three piecesʺ |
193: | ҆и расфрьгайте ю по пол͛ꙗнꙋ | ʺand scatter them on the meadow!ʺ |
194: | ҆и расе́коха ю на тро́е | And they chopped her into three pieces |
195: | ҆á дрꙋ́ги ҆имаше хр͒тиӑне мл͒ти́ви ҆и бг҃обо҆ꙗзни | And there were other christians - merciful and God-fearing |
196: | та ꙋзеха ҆ѡно́ва тело | So they took that body |
197: | ҆и занесоха си́ го по домà | and they brought it home |
198: | ҆и мно́го хꙋбо́сь ҆и бл҃га меризмà ҆излáзеше Ѿ онова чт͒но те́ло деви́че | and much beaty and good smell was coming out of that honorable virgin body |
199: | ҆и ва то҆ꙗ́ ча͒ ♣ ҆ꙗви се ст҃и мч҃никь гаве́диа брать каздинь | and in this hour saint martyr Gabdelas, brother of Kazda appeared |
200: | ҆и пре́кри ю л҆ице то сáсь мно́гоце́ни дáрове | and he covered her face with precious gifts |
201: | ҆и ре́че | and he said: |
202: | спи се́стро до при́ше́ствїе гд͒не | ʺSleep, sister, until the coming of Godʺ |
203: | ҆и не ви́де го ни́ко́й кадѐ ҆ѿи́де ҆и прѝиде | And no one saw where he went |
204: | мт҃и гаведїйна ҆и кáздина и́ нáйде́ ги мер͛тви | The mother of Gabdelas and Kazda found them dead |
205: | ҆и ѿидѐ при мꙋ́жа си цр҃а: саворию | And she went to her husband, king Saborius |
206: | ҆и рече мꙋ | and she said to him: |
207: | ҆ѡ мꙋжꙋ мо́й почто, толи́ко безчлове́чень ҆есѝ | ʺO husband of mine, why are you so inhumanʺ |
208: | ҆и кáмено срдце, но́сишь | ʺand you carry a heart of stoneʺ |
209: | ҆и не си пожали́ль тво́й децà | ʺand you have not had mercy on your childrenʺ |
210: | радвáй се тѝ ҆и цр͒тво тво́е | ʺRejoice, you and your kingdomʺ |
211: | че си́нь мо́й ҆оꙋ́ тмꙋ дльбо́кꙋ вале́зе | ʺfor my son has entered a deep voidʺ |
222: | тáко ҆и д͛щерь мою̀: мно́го мꙋчи́ль ҆еси | ʺLike this you have tortured a lot my daughter tooʺ |
223: | гор͛ко тебѐ немл͒ти-вниче мо́й мꙋ́жꙋ | ʺWoe to you, merciless one, o husband of mine!ʺ |
224: | сáсь ·҂а· мꙋ́ки мꙋ́чишь децà | With thousand torments you torment children |
225: | ҆и безь вре́ме на ни́хь самрьть показ҆á | ʺand in no time you showed them deathʺ |
226: | и на мꙋкꙋ ҆имь тело̀ сасе́че | ʺTormenting them (?) you sliced their bodiesʺ |
227: | ҆и сась ҆огнь ҆имь пле́щи ҆изго́ри | ʺand you burned their shoulders with fireʺ |
228: | ѡ͒ камено срдце твое | ʺO, your heart is of stone!ʺ |
229: | чл҃ве́че насити́ се сáсь злáто ҆и сась цр͒тво̀ | ʺO man, have enough of gold and the kingdom!ʺ |
230: | не жалови́ти чл҃вече ҆и не прииде да ви́дишь сво́й че́да кáко ҆изомроша | ʺO, sorrowless man, you did not even come to see how your children died!ʺ |
231: | то́лко си не срдцово́лни чл҃векь цр҃ꙋ | ʺYou are such a heartless man, o king!ʺ |
232: | ҆и ѡнь слꙋша като мꙋ дꙋма стопáница | And he listened while his wife was talking to him |
233: | ни го жал͛ба ҆ѡбидѐ | The sorrow did not fill him |
234: | ни го срдце поболѐ за сво́й че́да | His heart did not ache for his children |
235: | ҆á жена него́ва гор͛ко жáл͛но плáчеше | but his wife was crying bitterly |
236: | ҆и тиа мꙋ дꙋми дꙋмаше | and she was saying such words to him: |
237: | ҆и цр҃ь никакво не́ пожали за сво́й че́да | ʺO king, you did not lament your children at all!ʺ |
238: | ҆и виде цр҃ица мт҃и нихна цр҃ево ѕло̀мил͒е́не ҆и безьчл҃веч҆ие и дꙋшмани́нь | And the queen, their mother, the king's evil thoughts and inhumanity and enemy |
239: | ҆á ҆ѡна сáма ꙋзе ѳими́ӑнь ҆изми́рнꙋ | She took myrrh incense herself |
240: | та покáди ст҃ое тело̀ дщерино | And she burnt incense over the daughter's body |
241: | ҆и сáсь цр͒кꙋ багрени́цꙋ ю ҆ѡпо́ви | and she wrapped her in a king's mantle |
242: | ҆и ва гро́бь юʺ поло́жи ҆и си́на сво́҅его геве́дию | and she laid her and her son Gabdelas in the grave |
243: | ҆и ти́хѡ над них плáчеше | and she was crying quietly over them |
