2: === Сказáнїе за ст҃ꙋю мч҃ени́цꙋ риѱи́мꙋ млдꙋ девцꙋ [Title] Legend about the Holy Martyr Hripsime, a young maiden
3: Д҆иоклйтиáнь ц҆арь едно̀ вре́ме зáпрати ꙋ р҆имскꙋ зе́млю слꙋгѝ него́ви Emperor Diocletianus once sent (an order) to the land of Rome (to) his servants
да мꙋ найдат не́кою хꙋ́бавꙋ дв҃цꙋ белоли́чнꙋ ҆и при́личнꙋ да се же́ни to find him a beautiful maiden with white cheeks and pretty, to marry her
4: ҆и ҆ѿидо́ха слꙋги́ те ꙋ ар͛ме́нски град and the servants went to the Armenian city
5: ҆и попитáхꙋ сáмь тáмь and they asked around
6: ҆и ни́где ймь не харе́ѯа and they did not like (the girls) anywhere.
7: ҆á ҆ѡнѝ ҆ѿидо́ха ꙋ дрꙋ́ги грáдь So they went to another city
8: зове́ше се ромен its name was Romen
9: тáмо ҆имаше мн͒тирь же́нски and there was a monastery for women.
10: ҆имáше дв҃и́ци три́ де́сеть ҆и двѐ There were 32 maidens.
11: та седе́хꙋ ꙋ мн͒ти́ро̀ Thus they dwelt in the monastery
12: та сѝ чꙋвáхꙋ дш҃ꙋ and they cared for their soul.
13: ҆а по ди́авол͛скꙋ во́лю дойдо́хꙋ ти́а прокле́ти слꙋги цр҃ви ꙋ т҆оꙗ́ мн͒трь дето бехꙋ дв҃ци те But by the will of the Devil, the accursed servants of the Emperor came into the monastery, where the maidens lived
14: ҆и реко́ха на стáрꙋ женꙋ̀ що ймь бе́ше ҆игꙋ́мена and they said to the old woman, who was their abbess:
15: ҆иди приведѝ деви́ци те тво́й да ви́ди́ме ко҆ꙗ̀ е ꙋго́дна ҆и прили́чна ʺGo and bring your maidens, so that we see if there is any nice and prettyʺ
да ю̀ во́диме цр҃ꙋ дио̆клити́анꙋ ѕа женà да бꙋде́ цр҃ца, ʺso that we would bring her to Emperor Diocletian to marry, so that she will be a queenʺ
16: ҆и видо́хꙋ ри́ѱи́мꙋ деви́цꙋ and they saw the maiden Hripsime
17: ҆и кáто ю̀ видо́хꙋ ҆á ѡнї ю написáхꙋ хꙋбо́ст та ҆и при́лика та на хрьти́ю and as they saw there, they drew her beauty and face on a paper
18: ҆и зане́соха хр҃ьти҆ꙗ́ та прѝ цр҃а and they brought the paper to the Emperor.
19: ҆á и́гꙋменá бегà сáсь дв҃ци́ те ꙋ дрꙋ́ги грáдь But the abbess ran with the maidens into another city
20: ҆и коги, па до́йдоха ҆ониꙗ слꙋгѝ да заведꙋ́ть ри́ѱимꙋ and when the servants came to take Hripsime
21: ҆и не найдоха ю тáмо they did not found her there
22: че бе́ше бегáла дано би ю не нáшли as she had ran away, in order not to be found.
23: ҆á ди҅оклити́ань рáзьра че е бегáла ри́ѱи́ма ꙋ дрꙋ́ги грáдь But Diocletian understood, that Hripsime ran away to another city
24: ҆á ҆ѡнь ҆и тáмо ҆ѿиде. and he went there
25: ҆и найде ю and he found her
26: ҆и сáкаше́ да ю̀ ҆ѡблежѝ на товà место̀ де́то ю̀ найде and he wanted to rape her on the spot, where he found her.
27: ҆á ҆ѡнá се потáйно бг҃ꙋ по́моли But she secretly prayed to God
28: ҆и сáсь повеле́нїе бж҃їе не можѐ бе́сь да ҆ѡблежѝ риѱи́мꙋ and by the God's command he could not rape her
29: ҆и не може ни́какь сáсь; си́лꙋ да ю̀ приведѐ за женꙋ̀ при се́бе and he could not force her to become his wife.
30: нело ре́че ҆игꙋ́мени ди́оклитиӑнь цр҃ь Thus Emperor Diocletian said to the abbess:
31: ҆игꙋмено ҆иди́ све́сти риѱи́мꙋ да дойде по ме́не да мѝ бꙋде женà ʺYou, abbess, go and convince Hripsime to come to me as a wife!ʺ
32: прьви́нь да ю̀ го́димь ҆и дарꙋ́вамь сáсь млого злáто ʺFirst I'll make a betrothal and give a lot of gold to herʺ
33: па тоги́ва да ю̀ во́димь на до́мь мо́й ʺand then I'll bring her to my house.ʺ
34: ҆á стáрица ҆игꙋмена ре́че But the old abbess said:
35: ѡ͒ цр҃ꙋ безꙋ́мни ти҆ꙗ́ сви́ те дв҃ци цр҃ꙋ нб͒номꙋ ҆ѡбрꙋ́чени сꙋ́ть ҆и го́дени ʺO mindless king, these maidens are promised and betrothed to the Heavenly King.ʺ
36: тоги́ва се ѕлѐ ѡсрамѝ цр҃ь Then the Emperor was very ashamed
37: ҆та ре́че на войне да исечꙋть сви́ те дв҃ци ҆á риѱи́мꙋ да мꙋ̀ доведꙋ́ть при не́го and he said to his soldiers to kill all the maidens and to bring Hripsime to him
38: ҆и рече риѱи́ма на во́йне те and Hripsime said to the soldiers:
39: не де́йте погꙋ́би́ти ти́jӑ мо́й, дрꙋ́шки ʺDo not kill my companions!ʺ
40: нь ги ҆ѡставе́те ʺLeave them aloneʺ
41: ҆á ме́не воде́те прѝ цр҃а вáшего ʺand bring me to your king.ʺ
42: ҆и това казаха во́йне те цр҃ꙋ And the soldiers told it to the king
43: ҆á деви́ци те ҆останꙋ́ха жи́ви and the maidens remained alive.
44: ҆и заве́доха прѝ цр҃а риѱимꙋ And they brought Hripsime to the Emperor
45: ҆и ҆онá го срáмно ꙋкори пре́дь мно́го сьборь and she scolded him shamefully in front of a large assembly.
46: ҆á ѡнь се зле расрьди But he became very angry
47: та ре́че ҆ꙗ́зи́кь дá ю ѿре́же and he commanded to cut off her tongue
48: ҆и растегнꙋ́ха ю по зе́млю and they stretched her on the ground
49: ҆и нажежáхꙋ желе́зо and they heated iron
50: ҆и све́ й, ре́бра ҆изгори́хꙋ and they burned her ribs
51: ҆и сáсь кре́мене ҆ѡстрѝ тело то и раздроби́хꙋ and they crushed her body with stones
52: ҆и ҆ѡчи́ те й ҆избодоха and they plucked her eyes.
53: нáй после й главá та й ѿсеко́хꙋ Finally, they also cut off her head
54: ҆и тело́ то й на парче́та расьсеко́хꙋ and they cut her body to pieces
55: ҆и расьфрьгáха го по полꙗ́нꙋ and they discarded it on a meadow.
56: ҆á ҆ѡнїѧ дв҃ци ҆и ꙗгꙋ́мена стáрица ҆ѿидоха да саберꙋть риѱи́ми тело́ то да го̀ погребꙋ́ть ꙋ зе́млю But those maidens and the old abbess went out to collect the Hripsime's body to bury it in the ground
57: ҆á цр҃ь видѐ and the Emperor saw (it)
58: ҆и ре́че на сви́ те дв҃ци да ѿде́рать ко́жи те ѿ но́кти до глáвꙋ and he commanded to tear the skins of all the maidens from nails to the head
҆и да им проре́жать корми́ те ҆и да ҆ймь ҆извле́чꙋть, чре́ва та and to cut open their bosoms and take out the intestines.
59: ҆и ҆ѡще ҆ѡнѝ ж҆иви дихахꙋ And they were still breathing
60: ї ѡни им ѿсеко́ша чт͒ни́ те глáви and they cut off their honorable heads.
61: ҆и тако ѝ сви́ те за хр͒та протеглихꙋ мꙋка ҆и страданїе ѿ не ве́рьни прокле́ти прель́стници ҆и бг҃обо́рци ҆и чл҃веко҆ꙋбийци .:. And thus all of them went through martyrdom and suffering by the faithless, accursed, self-deceived God-haters and man-slayers.
