| [zri lozıe] | [sidenote] observe - a vineyard | |
| 2: | Imaše ednò vréme ʾedínь čl͂vekь wt dobrà roda | There was once a man from a good family |
| 3: | ta násati lozie mlógo nekóliko xilʾjádi | And he planted many grape vines - several thousands |
| 4: | ʾi nasádi drь´vija vočka svékakvà za ʾjádene | And he planted trees with all kinds of fruit to eat |
| 5: | ʾi doĭde vréme | And the time came |
| 6: | ʾi rodi lózie to | And the vineyard bore fruit |
| 7: | ʾi rodíxa drь´vja ta | And the trees bore fruit |
| 8: | ʾi wt mnógo róžba ta sè bexà prevíli drьvíja ta | And the trees had bended because of too much fruit |
| 9: | ʾi wbìgrádi gì ʾónja čl͂vekь nà ʾwkole sásь plétь | And that man hedged them round about |
| 10: | ʾi poĭde da sí ʾide na dómь svóĭ | And he went on to go home |
| 11: | pa réče | And he said: |
| 12: | fála bg̃u | ʺThank God!ʺ |
| 13: | ʾjá kato štémь da sì ʾidemь dóma ʾá kogò da ʾwstávimь da mì čúva lozié to ʾi vóška tà | ʺWhen I want to go home, who could I leave here to protect my vineyard and my fruit trees?ʺ |
| 14: | ʾi pómislì, da ʾwstávi nekogo wt svoi te slúgi | And he thought of leaving one of his servants |
| 15: | pa nè štejà da ʾwstávi wt slugí te si níkogo | But he did not want to leave any of his servants there |
| da mu ne ʾistrávatь róžba ta na lóze to ʾi na drь´vja ta | so they do not eat the fruit from his vinyeyard and his trees | |
| 16: | nélo ʾwstávi ednógo čl̃véka slépca ʾá drugogo xrómcà da sedútь na lóze to da čúvatь, | So he left there a blind man and a lame man to sit at the vineyard and protect it |
| 17: | ʾi kato e edínь slépь ʾi da saka vóška da edè ʾá wnь ne vídi da si nábere | And when one of them is blind, even if he wants to eat fruit, he cannot see in order to pluck some |
| 18: | ʾá drugíjà čl̃vekь pà xrómь | And the other man is lame, |
| 19: | ʾi da mu se ʾi nemu šte vóška da ʾede ʾá ʾwnь e pa xrómь | even if he wants to eat fruit, he is lame |
| 20: | ta ne móže da ĭde da si nabére voška da ʾedè | so he cannot go and pluck fruit to eat |
| 21: | takà pomísli ʾónʾjá čl̃vek͛ da nè zéme nikóĭ wt negóva ta múka da tùri u ustà | Thus the man thought, so that nobody won't take from (the fruit of) his labor (ʺtormentʺ?) to throw it to his mouth. |
| 22: | pa katò béše ʾwgrádilь lóze to, sásь plótь ʾónь béše ʾwstávilь vráta nà ednò mésto da se ulázi | And as he had hedged the vineyard round about, he had left a door to enter through at one place |
| 23: | ta wstávi slepcà togó ʾi xromcá togo na vratá ta da čuvatь da ne ulézne nékoi da ukrádne néšto ʾiz loze to | And so he left the blind man and the lame man at the door lest someone might enter and steal something from the vineyard |
| 24: | slépeco sásь ʾóči ne vídi | The blind man does not see with the eyes |
| 25: | a sasь ʾuši čue | but he hears with the ears |

| 27: | ʾá sasь nóze ne móže da xódi ta sám si da zéme toʾjá plodь lózni da go nosì domá si | but he cannot walk with the legs to take this vineyard fruit himself and take it home |
| 28: | tovà pomísli ʾi ʾwstávi gi na vrat ta | He thought this and left them at the door |
