17: | ʾá drugía duxóvnikь réče | And the other priest said: |
18: | stóĭ bráte | ʺWait, brother!ʺ |
19: | né možeme nía noštéska da ĭzlézneme | ʺWe cannot go out during the night!ʺ |
20: | zašto smè, niè ʾoč̃e na čúždo mésto | ʺFor we are, father, at a stranger's placeʺ |

44: | zaštó e ʾonь nadì svì násь | ʺFor he is above all of usʺ |
45: | ʾi ja se nádamь na sña bg̃a živago | ʺAnd I count on the Son, the living Godʺ |
46: | ʾázь wt tóʾja čásь ne štémь večè da ĭdem da čínьmь toʾjá, gréxь | ʺFrom this hour on I will not ever go and commit this sinʺ |
47: | ʾáko mè víe ʾóč̃e na pútь prav nastávite | ʺif you, father, show me the right wayʺ |
48: | ʾi wní ju rékoxa | And they said to her: |
49: | w͒ čédo ʾákw` nì poslúšašь míe štéme tébe ʾw togóva gréxa ʾizbavíti | ʺO child, if you listen to us, we will free you from that sinʺ |
50: | ʾi ʾwna ʿwstavì ʾwnia trì mužie ʾi tovà srébro ʾi zláto što béše spečalíla sásь tóʾja téžakь grexь | And she left those three men and that silver and gold that she had earned with that heavy sin |
51: | ta ʾōtidè sʾásь ʾwnià duxóvnici | and she went with those priests |
52: | ʾi ʾwní ju zavédoxa u devíčeski mn͒trь | and they led her to a convent |
53: | ʾi pročétexu nadì glávu noĭnu st̃uju bž̃estvénu ml͂tvu | and they read the Holy Prayer over her head |
54: | ʾi postríže duxóvnikь ʾeĭ glávu | and the prest cut her hair |
55: | ʾi pokalúgeri ju | and she took the veil (lit. ʺhe turned her into a nunʺ) |
56: | ʾi predáde ju na ruku žéne ʾigumenì | |
57: | ʾi tamw´ sedè maríja četíri désetь gódinь | And there sat Maria for forty years |
58: | bi živa | She was alive |
59: | ta svè pláčeše | and she always cried |
60: | ʾi dumaše | and she spoke: |
61: | wx míli bž̃e dokóle slьzi móĭ da tečútь gréxь radì, móĭ | ʺO dear Lord, until when will my tears fall because of my sin?ʺ |
62: | ʾi bg̃ь jù ʾwprostì gréxь što béše bg̃u grešíla | And God forgave her the sin she had commited |
63: | ʾi támo sedè do stárosti na ʾwnja mn͒trь | And she stayed there in that monastery until old age |
64: | ʾi mnógo rázumь béše dobíla | And she had got much reason |
65: | ʾi čudesa tvóreše | and she was working miracles |
66: | ʾi sa míromь, bg̃u, dx̃ь, predad(e) | and she yielded up her soul to God in peace |
