Blessed christians, listen and let us tell you something little about some miracle |
 | кáкво, бг҃ь дрьжѝ мл͒ть сво́ю̀ на сви́ꙗ ст҃ь ҆и на чл҃веци ҆и на пти́ци ҆и на све́ко создáнїе бж҃и́е | how God holds His mercy on the whole world and on people and on birds and on every creature of God |
Once upon a time there was a king's servant |
His name was Paul |
And the king sent him over to a monastery for some ... |
And Paul went to the monastery |
And monks and an abbot met him |
 | ҆и се́днꙋхꙋ бли́зꙋ при келїе мал͛ко да сѝ по҆ѡдьхнꙋ на се́нкю по́дь неколи́ко дрь́вꙗ | and they sat down close to the cell to rest a little in the shade under some trees |
 | че ймахꙋ ҆ѡниꙗ дрьвꙗ рожбà кол͛кото̀ вече не мо́жать да дрьжать ѿ мло́го пло́дь | since those trees had so much fruit that they could not hold any longer from all the fruit |
 | когѝ токо̀ дойдохꙋ неко́й две́ трѝ пти́ци та ѿкрьши́хꙋ ѿ ҆они́ꙗ дрь́вꙗ кло́но́ве сáсь во́шкꙋ | when some two-three birds came and broke off branches with fruit from those trees |
 | ҆и ҆ꙗ́ко срьчáно лете́хꙋ | and they were flying very skillfully |
 | та кло́нове те заносе́хꙋ | and they brought the branches |
And that man saw those birds were carrying the fruit and not eating it |
The abbot said: |
Do you see, brother?ʺ |
It is the eleventh year that these birds are carrying branches with fruit like todayʺ |
The whole year these birds carry fruit through the forest like thisʺ |
And in God's will, the abbot said, somewhere in the forest there are holy fasting men or womenʺ |
And they sit in some chasmʺ |
And those birds bring that fruit for them to eat instead of breadʺ |
Just as the abbot said this |
 | ҆и една врáна: брь́зо долетѐ | a crow quickly came flying |
 | ҆и ѿкрьши кло́нь | and it broke off a branch |
 | ҆и пакь зане́се во́шкꙋ ꙋ го́рꙋ | and it carried fruit into the forest again |
Then Paul, servant of Christ, said to the abbot: |
Come, father, let us too go after those crows and see where they bring that fruit!ʺ |
There, it is eleven years now that they are always carryingʺ |
Let us see, father, which side the crows lead toʺ |
And the abbot and two more monks with him left |
The crow was flying |
And the monks were going after the crow from afar |
And they saw where the crow fell |
It had fallen over such a deep chasm, that one could not see ... |
And it brought that branch with the fruit over |
And the crow went back out |
And those three monks threw a stone down that chasm |
And when that stone made a loud noise down in the chasm, a voice was to be heard |
And people spoke |
 | ҆и ре́кохꙋ | and they said: |
O brother, if you are christians, please do not kill us!ʺ |
And those three monks asked: |
And who are you, that you sit here in this deserted chasm?ʺ |
And they said: |
If you wish to see us, throw us three shirtsʺ |
 | защо́ сме нїѧ трѝ же́ни голѝ | ʺfor we are three naked womenʺ |
And go down under the mountainʺ |
 | та чѐ да найдете ҆еднꙋ теснꙋ пꙋ́течкꙋ | ʺand you will find a narrow pathʺ |
 | ҆и по тꙋю пꙋте́чкꙋ щетѐ да при́҆идете при нáсь | ʺand on this path you will come to usʺ |
And when those three monks heard these words |
҆á ҆ѡни́ си собле́кохꙋ ҆и тро҆ица та ри́зи те ѿ грьби́на та | all three of them took the shirts off their back
And they wrapped stones in the shirts |
And they threw them down the chasm to those three women |
 | па тоги́ва ҆ѡнѝѧ трѝ калꙋгере като̀ ҆имь бе́хꙋ ре́кли ҆о́ниѧ трѝ женѝ да слезнꙋ до́ле под го́рꙋ ҆и ҆ѡни слезнáхꙋ | And then those three monks went down under the mountain, as those three women had told them to |
And they found the (a) narrow path |
They could hardly pass until they came to those three women |
And as they came closer, the three hermit women bowed to the ground |
And the oldest woman said: |
O father, make us a prayerʺ |
And may we sit a bit to have a chatʺ |
And the old woman sat down |
And the young ones stood on their feet |
And the abbot asked: |
O old woman, my mother, where have you came from here?ʺ |
And the old woman said: |
O father, I am from Constantinopleʺ |
And my husband was a royal officerʺ |
He explained in the day, what the king dreamed in the night.ʺ |
And he diedʺ |
And I was 28 years oldʺ |
And I moarned and bemoaned him for two yearsʺ |
And I was a widow and childlessʺ |
 | ҆и по не́кол͛ко дни́ ҆и-маше еди́нь безьбо́жень мꙋ́жь | ʺ... there was a godless manʺ |
And he was very noble |
And he sent his servants to bring me to him by force |
But they did not think of softening me (?) |
But they really wanted to take me to their lord |
And I prayed to my God Jesus Christ to rescue me from him and to save my soul |
And then I said to his servants |
O, my Mistresses, I would be happy to go to your master!ʺ |
For he is very gloriousʺ |
But I have a bad crippling illnessʺ |
Pus is leaking from me incessantlyʺ |
If he could wait for me a little until I cure myself and healʺ |
 | па тоги́ва сáсь радо́сь да до́йдемь при господáра вáшего | ʺthen I would be happy to come to your masterʺ |
And when those servants heard this, they went away |
And they said: |
And so the servants went away |
And then that woman, who had many servnats, freed all of them |
And she gave each of them many gold coins |
And the servants went wherever they wished |
And for me I left these two slaves to serve meʺ |
And the fortune that I had was more than one can countʺ |
And I gave it all to paupersʺ |
And then I called one loyal person from my lineʺ |

҆и що зе́ме ҆именїе ҆и не́го на си́роти да раздадѐ | ʺand to give whatever fortune he makes to poor peopleʺ
And I also left him a lot of gold of mine with no stampsʺ |
And I came here in the night with my servantsʺ |
Until now they have been my servantsʺ |
And now, in God's will, sistersʺ |
So I went into the ship with themʺ |
We sailed on the sea for a long time until God brought us to this placeʺ |
It has been eleven years now that we have not seen anyoneʺ |
We saw only you today, o holy fathers!ʺ |
Our shirts flewʺ |
And they rippedʺ |
 | ѿпáдоша | ʺAnd they fell downʺ |
Then the abbot asked her: |
O old woman, where does your bread come from?ʺ |
And she said: |
Our God, the benign lover of mankind, he gives food to such unworthy servants like usʺ |
And with God's benign thought those birds bring to us all kinds of fruitʺ |
And we had become nakedʺ |
 | па нѝ гд͒ь покри́ваше | ʺand God covered usʺ |
And He warms us up with His virtueʺ |
We were neither afraid of the coldness in the winterʺ |
 | нѝ ле́те ѿ жегꙋ | ʺnor of the heat in the summerʺ |
But we have been like in God's paradiseʺ |
Every kind of good was coming to usʺ |
We were celebrating the Holy Trinity incessantlyʺ
The abbot heard this |
 | ҆и рече й | and he said to her: |
 | ҆ѡ гж͒е мо́ꙗ мт҃и да лѝ прáтимь ҆едно́го брáта ꙋ монасти́рь да доне́се мал͛ко брáшно да еде́ме дне́ска сáсь вáсь | ʺO lady, my mother, should I send one brother over to the monastery to bring some flour so we eat with you today?ʺ |
And she said: |
If you wish to do this, father, order one priest to come so I tell him somethingʺ |
And the presbyter came |
She said to him: |
 | ҆о́ч҃е по ско́ро ҆иди ꙋ монасти́рь когѝ сврь́шите ст҃ꙋю литꙋр͛ги́ю да донесе́шь прѐчт͒ихь тáйнь хр͒товь да се прѝче́стиме | ʺFather, go soon to the monastery when you finish the holy liturgy and bring ... of Christ so we take communionʺ |
And the father went |
 | ҆и доне́се ст҃и тáйнь | and he brought the holy ... |
And she took communion by herself |
And then her two servants took communion |
Then they ate bread together too |
And then that old woman said to the abbot: |
Please, fatherʺ |
Sit here with us for three daysʺ |
And the abbot promised to sit with them for three days |
And the old woman prayed to God |
And she yielded up her soul to God |
And the other on the next day |
And she too died |
Thus also the third on the third day |
She died too |
She died in peace |
And those three priests buried them fondly with psalms on the tenth day of the month september |
With prayers I send glory to them and to You, Christ, our God |
҆оц҃ꙋ, ҆и сн҃ꙋ, ҆и ст҃омꙋ, дх҃ꙋ, | to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit
