| 5: | ʾu goru sedeše ʾi dénь ʾi noštь | He was sitting in the forest day and night |
| 6: | ʾi mlógo źlo práveše | and he was doing much evil |
| 7: | ʾi mlógo ljúdie ubívaše | and he was killing many people |
| 8: | ʾi mlógo krь´vi prolívaše | and he was shedding much blood |
| 9: | ta né maše, nígde po źlь čl͂vékь wt nego | so there was not a more evil man than him |
| 10: | ta pà ʾimáše družína pri sébe bóle wt tri désetь duši | and he had a band of more than thirty people with him |
| 11: | ta sásь nixь tólkova źlo práveše | and he did much evil with them |
| 12: | ta pa sè ʾedno vréme smísli | and at some time he came to himself |

| 14: | wx bž͂e móĭ mili što sam ʾjá tov źlò tolko právilь | ʺOh my dear Lord, why have I been doing so much evil?ʺ |
| 15: | ʾjáko se upláši wt bg̃a | He became very scared of God |
| 16: | ʾi ʾwstaví si družína ta u goru | and he left his band in the forest |
| 17: | ʾi ʾōtìde na ʾedínь monastírь | and he went to a monastery |
| 18: | ʾi potropà na vráta | and he knocked on the door |
| 19: | ʾi izleze vratárь | and the doorman came out |
| 20: | ʾi reče mu | and he said to him: |
| 21: | što trážišь ti tuka junáče | ʺWhat are you looking for here, young man?ʺ |
| 22: | ʾá dv͂dь réče | And David said: |
| 23: | kalugerь sakámь da stánemь | ʺI want to become a monkʺ |
| 24: | ʾōtvoréte mi vráta | ʺOpen the door for meʺ |
| 25: | ʾa vratárь ne smja da mu ōtvóri vráta | But the doorman did not dare to open the door for him |

| 27: | ta kazà ʾigumenu | and he told the abbot |

| 36: | ne možeme nʾíja da ōtvórime tébe vráta | ʺWe cannot open the door for youʺ |
| 37: | zašto ti túka ne móžešь trьpéti | ʺfor you cannot last hereʺ |
| 38: | zaštò tuka mlógo rábota ʾima | ʺfor there is a lot of work hereʺ |
| 39: | ʾi mlógo trьpenïe za xlébь ʾimame | ʺand we suffer a lot for our breadʺ |
| 40: | po ʾedinь putь dneska xlébь- edeme | ʺToday we eat bread only once a dayʺ |
| 41: | ti monastir͛ska rabóta ne móžešь drьžáti | ʺYou cannot do monastery workʺ |
| 42: | ʾá david ʾimь dumáše | But David was saying to them: |
| 43: | ʾóc͂i st̃i vïe što mi rečéte ʾja štemь svè vasь poslušáti | ʺO, holy fathers, I will do whatever you tell me to!ʺ |

| 53: | ʾá víe ne štéte da mè prifánete | ʺBut you do not want to accept meʺ |
| 54: | viè grex sasь méne pribírate | ʺYou are taking in a sin with meʺ |
| 55: | ʾáli ako pákь ʾwѳídemь prì moĭ te družina štoto gì ʾwstavix u gora ta | ʺBut if I go again to my band that I left in the forestʺ |

| 65: | ta mu duma, | and spoke to him: |
| 66: | dv͂de, dv͂de, prostil͛ te e gd͒ь wt grexь tvóĭ | ʺDavid, David, God has forgiven you your sins!ʺ |
| 67: | ʾá wt segi štéšь čudesa da práviš | ʺAnd from now on you will do miraclesʺ |

| 70: | ʾjá mlógo gréxь imamь kol͛ko pesakь po móre | ʺI have as much sin as there is sand at the seaʺ |
| 71: | ʾáng̃elь réče dv͂du | The angel said to David: |
| 72: | dv͂de ʾjá ʾōtidóxь pri zaxaríju | ʺDavid, I went to Zechariahʺ |
| 73: | ta mù rekoxь | ʺAnd I said to him:ʺ |
| 74: | zaxarïe ti štéšь da dobiéšь sína | ʺZechariah, you will get a sonʺ |
| 75: | ʾá wn͛ me ne povérva | ʺand he did not believe meʺ |
| 76: | ʾá ja mu svézáxь ʾjázikь da vér͛va če me e gd͒ь puštílь da ponaʾučimь čl̃veka na pámetь | ʺAnd I tied his tongue so he believes that God sent me to bring the man to his mindʺ |

| 81: | kogì bexь razboĭnikь ʾi mlógo zlo právexь ʾi mlogo krь´vi prolívaxь | ʺWhen I was a robber and did much evil and shedded much bloodʺ |
| togíva ne znaʾjaxь kakvò bg̃u da ugodimь | ʺthen I did not know how to please Godʺ | |
| 82: | ʾá segi xóštu rabotáti gd͒vi | ʺbut now I want to work for the Lordʺ |
| 83: | i potomь dv͂dь mlogo čudesa satvorì | And then David did many miracles |
| 84: | slépi prosvéti | He made the blind see |
| 85: | xromì ʾisceli | He cured the lame |
| 86: | ta proxódixu | so they started walking |
| 87: | bésni ʾiscéli | He cured the mad |
| 88: | ta peexu pésnь u cr̃kvu na molitvu | so they sang songs during the prayer at the church |
| 89: | tomu že slva ʾi čt͒ь ʾi poklonenïe | and may praise and honor and respect be to him |
| ʾóc͂u ʾi sñu ʾi st̃omu dx͂u | (and) to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit | |
