48: i ono otide gore na planinu and the child (ʺitʺ) left upwards to the hills
49: kakvo go vidoxu braikja ta mu če doide pri nixъ oni ot jatъ stanuxu kato ludi as his brothers saw him coming to them, they became angry as madmen
50: izbraxu se petina ta braikja naedno the five brothers assembled themselves
51: i dogovaraxu se kakvo da učinatъ sasъ iosifa and they discussed what to do with Joseph
52: edinъ ot nixъ reče one of them said:
53: elate brate da umorimo togova ne čestiva iosifa ʺbrothers, let's kill that honorless Josephʺ
da go ne ma nigde da ni ne pravi pakosъ ʺso that he's not anywhere to do us evilʺ

63: o brate dobre i ugodno reče ti brate ʺo brother, you speak well and wiselyʺ
64: tako e dobre va istinu da go frъlimo u nekoę propast da go izedutъ divi źverove ʺit is really good to throw him to an abyss, so that he'll be eaten by wild beastsʺ
da go ne ma ni vesъ ni pametъ ʺso that won't be any news nor memory of himʺ
65: dogovorixu se they agreed
66: i frъlixu iosifa brata svoego u edna dlъboka propastъ and they threw Joseph, their brother, into a deep abyss
gdeto nigde se ne e videlo tolkova dlъbina where the depth could not be seen
67: i sasъ bžiemъ poveleniemъ pade iosifъ na dno u onaja propastъ and, by God's permission, Joseph fell down to the abyss' floor
68: i ništo ne e se povredilъ and he wasn't wounded anywhere
ni na ruku ni na nogu not on his hand, nor on his leg
69: no paki izleze na belъ stъ but he climbed out again to the white world
70: i mlogo mu se sažale and he became very said
71: i znaeše kade beše zakopana maika mu and he knew, where his mother was buried

73: i takoi žalno plačeše and he cried so sadly
74: i umileni dumi dumaše and he spoke nice words:
75: raxilo raxilo mati moja mila stani ʺRachel, my dear mother, ariseʺ
76: mati otvori mi tvoi temenъ grobъ ʺmother, open your dark grave to meʺ
77: i složi me na odrъ tvoi da si pospim mati moja ʺand put me to your bed, so that I sleep a bit, my motherʺ
78: i produmai mati moja ʺand speak out, my motherʺ

92: i trъgovci te rekoxu and the traders said:
93: čedo ela da ni zavedeš pri stoka ta vaša ʺchild, come and lead us to your cattleʺ
94: i onova dete gi zavede pri stoka ta i pri braikja ta si and that child led them to the cattle and his brothers
95: i oni kakvo go vidoxu če e ošte živo ot jatъ i ot źlъ mislъ i znemogoxu and as they were paralyzed by anger and evil thoughts as they saw that he is still alive
96: i xodexu kato mrъtvi and they walked as dead
97: i trъgovci te gi popitaxu za stoku and the traders asked for cattle
98: a oni ne mislexu kakvo stoku da si prodadutъ but they didn't think of selling cattle
99: nelo mislexu kakvo iosifa da prodadutъ for they decided (ʺthoughtʺ) to sell Joseph
100: i prodadoxa go and they sold him
101: kupixa go onia trъgovci those traders bought him
102: i ukačixa go na konъ and they put him on a horse
103: i zanesoxa go dole kadeto slnce to ističa va zemlju egipetskuju and they carried him down to the land of Egypt, where the sun rises
104: i zanesoxa go u edinъ grad and they brought him to one city
105: i prodadoxa go and they sold him
106: kupi go edinъ človekъ boljarinъ gdarъ golemъ one man bought him, a boyar, a great lord
107: i zavede si go na domъ svoi and he brought him to his house
108: i vide onja gdarъ onova dete kakvo e jako xubavo na obrazъ and that lord saw that the child was very nice looking
109: i jako mu se radvaše and he was very happy for him
110: i obleče go sve u svileni drexi and he clothed him in nice clothes only
111: i čuva go onja gdarъ and that lord raised him
112: i gleda go and he cared for him
113: i poraste iosifъ kolko do osmъ na desetъ godini and Joseph grew up to 18 years
114: i negovъ gdarъ poide da ide po svoju trъgovinu and his lord left for his trade

140: tolъko ju beše razžeglъ besъ so much did the devil made her burn (with lust)
141: i kato go beše fanula za drexu da go privleče sasъ silu a onъ skoči da bega but as she seized him by his clothes to pull him by force he jumped to run
142: a ona go trъgnu za drexa ta but she pulled him by his clothes
143: i onъ izvrъnu ruke na nazadъ and he turned his hands back
144: i sobleče mu se drexa ot grъbinu and his clothes was put off from his back
145: i gospodarka negova uze mu drexa ta and his mistress took his clothes
146: i skuta ju u kovčagъ and she hid it in a chest
147: ioosifъ bega Joseph ran
148: i po nekolko dni doide onja gospodarъ na domъ svoi and after few days that lord came back home
149: i pogleda za iosifa and he looked for Joseph
150: i ne može da go vidi da mu xodi po dvorove and he couldn't see him walking in the yards
151: i pita si stopanicu and he asked his wife
152: i reče and said:
153: kude e iosifъ da mi donese malko vodu da se napiemъ ʺwhere is Joseph to bring me some water for a drink?ʺ
154: a ona mu reče and she said to him:
155: stopanine moi taka li e xubavo ʺmy husband, is that nice so?ʺ
156: ti otide po svoju trъgovinu da trъguvašъ ʺyou go for your trade (ʺto tradeʺ)ʺ
157: a iosifa ostavi da mi sluguva ʺand you leave Joseph to serve meʺ
158: a onъ doide na mene sasъ silu da me obleži ʺand he came to me, to lie with me by forceʺ
159: i ja go priѱuvaxъ ʺand I scolded himʺ
160: a onъ skoči da bega ʺand he jumped to run (away)ʺ

183: i u edna noštъ sъnuvaxu edinъ sъnъ grozenъ and in one night they had a terrible dream
184: i kogi se razbudixu a oni si dumaxu meždu sebe and as they woke up, they spoke to each other
185: i mislexu kakovъ šte da bude toja sъnъ and thought, what kind of dream could that be
186: i ne možexu da se setatъ and they couldn't guess
187: i kazaxu iosifu and they said to Joseph
188: i on imъ reče and he told them:
189: toja sъnъ što ste vija sъnuvali to šte da bude krъvъ ʺthat dream, which you dreamt, means (ʺwill beʺ) bloodʺ
190: taja noštъ da se sъmne xoče crъ da prati џalatina da poseče vas dvoica axčiju tu i xlebara ʺthis night, after the sunset, the king will send an executioner to kill you two, the cook and the bakerʺ
191: i oni siromasi plačexu and they, poor ones, cried
192: kogi se sъmnu doide џalatinъ after the sunset, the executioner came
193: izvede axčiju i xlebara he took the cook and the baker
194: i poseče gi and he executed them
195: a vinara ostanu živъ but he left the wine tender alive
196: a iosifъ mu se moleše and Joseph begged him
197: i dumaše mu and said to him:
198: brate crъ xoče tebe da oprosti paki da mu sluguvašъ ʺbrother, the king will free you, so that you can serve him againʺ
sasъ čašu vino na trъpezu ʺwith a cup of wine at the tableʺ
199: no molim ti se brate ʺbut I pray you, brotherʺ
200: ako ti prilegne produmai i za mene siromaxa nekoę rečъ pri cara ʺif you have chance, tell a word to king about my poor selfʺ

202: i oprosti crъ vinara and the king acquitted the wine tender
203: i otide paki da mu sluguva vino sasъ čašu na trъpezu and he left to serve him wine with a cup at the table again

205: i pošli su da izedutъ travu po svъ stъ i po svu drъžavu crevu and they went to eat all the grass in the whole world and in the whole domain of the king
206: i pomisli crъ da se seti samъ na toja sъnъ and the king thought to explain the meaning of that dream by himself
207: i ne može da se seti and he couldn't explain (it)
208: no povele da se zberutъ svi negovi gdare vezire i knezove i voivodi i kadii i nastoinici i svi boljare crovi so he commanded all his lords, vezirs and princes and generals and qadis and governors and all boyars of the king to assemble
209: izbraxu se svi te cru u dvorove all of them assembled at the royal court
210: i složixu trъpezu crsku kakvoto e cru prilično and they prepared a table as it is worthy of a king
211: i jadoxu xlebъ and they ate bread
212: i sluga ta creva imъ služeše sasъ čašu vino na trъpezu and the king's servant served them a cup of wine at the table
213: i crъ produma and the king spoke out:
214: čuite svi boljare moi da vi kažemъ nešto i vie otvetъ da mi dadete ʺhear (me), all of you, my boyars, I('ll) tell you something and you('ll) answerʺ
215: i reče crъ and the king said:
216: ja u edna noštъ edinъ sъnъ sъnuvaxъ kato če su izlezli tri kamili izъ more to i pošli su da izedutъ travu po svъ stъ i po svu drъžavu moju ʺI had a dream one night: three camels went out of the sea and ate (all) the grass in the whole world and the whole of my domainʺ
217: kažete mi kakovъ xoče da bude toja sъnъ do posledni denъ ʺtell me, what will be (of?) this dream until the last dayʺ
218: i onię boljare mislixu and the boyars thought
219: i predumvaxu meždu sebe and discussed among each other
220: i nikoi ne može da se seti na toja sъnъ and nobody could(ʺn'tʺ) explain that dream
221: a vinaro crevъ reče and the king's wine tender said:
222: o cru čestiti na mnoga leta živъ budi ʺo King, be honored and alive for many yearsʺ
223: toja sъn tvoi ne može nikoi da ti opravi ʺnobody can make that dream of yours (clear)ʺ
224: tъkmo edinъ člvekъ imaše u temnicu zatvorenъ kogi bexmo nię zatvoreni tamo pri nego ʺthere was only one man in the dungeon, as we were imprisoned there with himʺ
225: i vidoxme go ʺand we saw him (that he could explain dreams)ʺ
226: toja člvekъ xoče tvoi sъnъ da opravi cru ʺthat man will make your dream (clear), kingʺ
227: i crъ togiva reče and the king said then:
228: togova člveka skoro dovedete pri mene ʺbring that man to me quickly!ʺ
229: i otidoxu u temnicu and they went to the dungeon
230: izvedoxa go ot tamo and they took him out of there
231: i privedoxa go pri cra and they brought him to the king
232: i reče mu crъ and the king said him:
233: člveče ja smъ sъnuvalъ edinъ sъnъ ʺman, I had a dreamʺ
234: možeš li mi dati otvetъ na toja sъnъ ʺcould you give me an explanation (ʺanswerʺ) for this dream?ʺ
235: i onъ togiva reče and he said then:
236: ti da si živъ cru ʺyou be alive, Kingʺ
237: nali me vidišъ kakovъ smъ gnusenъ i rizi na mene črъni i razdrani ʺdo you see how ugly am I, and that my clothes are black and tattered?ʺ
238: i glavni kosi oči te mi prekrili ʺand the hair on my head cover my eyesʺ
239: i oči te mi ot temnicu potъmneli ʺand my eyes are darkened by the dungeonʺ
240: i ne vidimъ cru tvoe crsko lice ʺand I don't see, king, your royal faceʺ
241: takoi predъ cra iosifъ govoreše thus spoke Joseph in front of the king
242: zašto mlogo godini leža iosifъ u temnicu zatvorenъ radi svoju gospodarku as he laid for many years imprisoned in the dungeon because of his mistress
243: i reče car and the king said:
244: skoro vodete togova člveka na banju ʺbring that man quickly to the bath!ʺ
245: xubavo go okupete ʺwash him wellʺ
246: i dobre go premenete ʺand clothe him wellʺ
247: i dovedete go pri mene ʺand bring him (then) to meʺ
248: i urabotixu kakvoto imъ zapoveda crъ and they did as the king commanded them
249: i privedoxa go pri cra and they brought him to the king
250: i reče mu crъ and the king said to him:
251: člveče edna noštъ ja sъnuvaxъ edinъ sъnъ ʺman, I had a dream one nightʺ
kato če su izlezli tri kamili izъ more to ʺthree camels went out of the seaʺ
252: i pošli su da izedutъ travu po svъ stъ i po svu drъžavu moju ʺand they wen to eat (all the) grass in the whole world and the whole my domainʺ
nigde da ne ostane treva ni po pole ni po goru ʺso that there is no grass left, neither in field, nor in the mountains (forests?)ʺ
253: možeš li mi opravi toja sъnъ ʺcould you make this dream (clear) to me?ʺ
254: i onъ reče and he said:
255: o cru čestiti toja sъnъ i malki te deca znajutъ ʺo honorable King, even small children know that dreamʺ
256: tija tri kamili što si ti sъnuvalъ ʺthose three camels you have dreamt (about)ʺ
tova ti se e javilo če šte da bude tri godini glad po svъ svetъ i po svu drъžavu tvoju ʺthat was a vision (to tell you) that there will be three years of famine in the whole world and in the whole your domainʺ
257: no poveli cru na tvoi nastoinici da pravatъ žitnici novi i da potegnutъ vexti ʺbut command your ministers to build new granaries and stretch rags (?)ʺ
258: tvoę e ruka dlъga cru ʺyour hand reaches far (ʺis longʺ)ʺ
259: stiga po svu zemlju ʺits reach is over the whole landʺ
260: i rasprati slugi tvoi po svi sela i gradove da zaručatъ da prinosutъ žito u žitnici tvoi ʺsend your servants to all villages and towns with a command to bring grain to your granariesʺ
da zaxranišъ svetъ na strašno vreme ʺso that you feed the world in the terrible timesʺ

262: i crъ povele and the king commanded
263: i napravixu žitnici and they built granaries
264: i vexti potegnuxu and they spread the rags (?)
265: i poručaxu za žito and gave orders for the grain
266: i dovezoxu and they brought (the grain)
267: i naplъnixu se žitnici preko meru and the granaries were filled over their capacity
268: i doide vreme and the time came
269: i stanu gladъ velikъ and a great famine happened
270: i nigde ne maše xlebna rožba and there was no crops for bread anywhere
271: i ogladne sъvъ stъ and the whole world became hungry
272: i razbra se u cra žito and it became known (that there is) grain at the king('s granaries)
273: i poide stъ ot istokъ do zapadъ da kupuvaju žito u crevi polati and the world from the East to the West went to buy grain at the royal palace
274: sveki kupuva everyone bought
275: i otide si crъ and the king left
276: beše ostavilъ iosifa nastoinikъ da mu prodava žito to he left Joseph as his deputy to sell the grain
277: doide i časъ i denъ the day and the hour came
278: doidoxu i negovi braikja da kupuvat žito tia što go bexu frъlili u propas ta i štoto go prodadoxu his brothers, those, who threw him into an abyss and who sold him, came to buy grain too
