6: | Си́ѧ ст҃аѧ прпдобнаꙗ параскева беше ѿ землю срьб͛скꙋю ѿ грáда калистрáтїѧ | this St. Reverend Parascheva (came) from the Serbian land, from the city of Callistratia |
7: | роди́теле нои́ни не бе́хꙋ богати | Her parents weren't rich |
8: | не махꙋ ни сребро ни злáто | they had neither silver, nor gold |
9: | и такои ѡскꙋдно прово́ждахꙋ дни те сво́й | and so meekly they passed their days |
10: | а ст҃аѧ параске́ва дорасте сьврьше́на деви́ца | But St Parascheva grew up (becoming) an perfect maiden |
11: | и сась памет се ꙋтврьдѝ | and she strengthened herself by her mind |
12: | и потегли ю срдце да живꙋва сась ҆аггели | and her heart strove her to live with angels |
13: | ҆и ѡстави бащꙋ и майкꙋ ҆и дрꙋги сро́дници све що бехꙋ ꙋ ми́рь | and she left father and mother and other relatives, all who were in the world |
14: | ҆и пойде по хр͒та | and went with Christ |
15: | ҆и ҆ꙗ́ко добрꙋ мисль на пáметь сво́й приве́де | and she brought a very good thought to her mind |
16: | ҆и ѡтиде ꙋ пꙋстиню | and she went to the desert |
17: | ҆и седеше тамо без ни́каквꙋ грижꙋ | and she sat there without any concern |
18: | тькмо молеше се бг҃ꙋ | she only prayed to God |
19: | ҆и день ҆и нощь ҆и стоеше на бденїе | and for day and night she stood aware |
20: | ҆и тело то свое ѿ сто҆ꙗ́не сꙋшеше | and her body dried up from the staying (awake) |
21: | ҆и не видеше ҆ѡна ҆ꙗ́стиа ҆и питие | and she saw no food nor drink |
22: | но беше но́й брáшно ҆и гозба сль́зи ҆и непрестани мл҃тви | but tears and perpetual prayers where her flour and feast |
23: | такои ҆ѡна на тоѧ ст҃ь животꙋваше | thus she lived in this world |
24: | ҆и сама ҆ꙋ пꙋстꙋ горꙋ седеше | and she sat alone on a deserted mountain |
25: | ҆и добре ꙋмь свои просве́ти- | and she enlightened her mind well |
26: | ҆и ни за еднꙋ печал͛бꙋ мирскꙋ помишль ҆имаше | and she had no thought of any worldly gain |
27: | тькмо за бг҃а ми́слеше | she thought merely about God |
28: | ҆и свꙋ нощ по пꙋтища камени ходеше- боса | and for whole night he went on stony roads barefoot |
30: | ҆и едно време виде че ю се: прибли́жва ѿхожденїе на нб҃са | and one (day) she saw that the departure to Heaven is closing |
31: | ҆и ꙋставѝ пꙋстиню | and she left the desert |
32: | ҆и ѡтиде ꙋ цр҃иград ҆и ст҃ие ме́ста | and went to Constantinople and the holy places |
33: | поче да ҆ѡби́хо́ди каде и харек͛ше тамо да седи | She began to travel about, anywhere she liked, to sit there |
34: | ҆и тамо мал͛ко нещо поседе | and she sit there for a while |
35: | ҆и предáде блáженꙋю свою дш҃ꙋ вь рꙋце бж҃їи: | and gave her blessed soul to the divine hands |
36: | ҆и почесть ҆и вене́ць ѿ бг҃а ꙋзе | and took the honor and laurels from God |
37: | ҆и ꙋлꙋчи се ꙋ това време | and (thus) happened in this time |
38: | беше ꙋмрель ҆единь чл҃векь гемиџїѧ | one man, a sailor, had died |
39: | ҆и беха го, закопáли бли́зꙋ при единь стль́пь: цр҃ковни | and they buried him close to a pillar of a church |
40: | ҆и тамо смрáдь ҆излазеше ѿ ҆о́нꙗ гро́бь | and a lot of stench went out of that grave |
41: | никои не мо́жеше да поми́не по пꙋть ѿ ѡнова те́ло | nobody could pass by the way because of that body |
42: | ҆и прорече ҆еди́нь дꙋхо́вникь | and one priest spoke out: |
43: | това, тело да мо́жете да го ҆извадите ҆ѡ стльпо да го погребе́те дльбоко | ʺcould you remove that body from (under) the pillar, and to bury it deeply,ʺ |
да не ҆излази тол͛кова смрадь ѿ него | ʺso that there isn't so much stench coming out of itʺ | |
44: | ҆и едни чл҃веци прїидохꙋ | and some people came |
45: | ҆и ҆и-звади́хꙋ ҆ѡнꙗ трꙋпь ѿ тамо | and removed that corpse from there |
46: | ҆и закопаха го близꙋ при тело́ то ст҃еи параске́ви | and buried him close to the body of St Parascheva |
47: | ҆и видо́хꙋ това тело: сто́й цело само ꙋкрепле́но ҆и соврьшено и здрáво | and they saw the body stays as a whole, self-sustaining and perfect and healthy |
48: | ҆и почꙋди́хꙋ се | and they wondered (about it) |
49: | ҆и поразꙋмехꙋ | and they understood |
50: | ҆и продꙋмáхꙋ си междꙋ се́бе | and said to each other: |
51: | да е то҆ꙗ́ трꙋпь некои ст҃о: те́ло било̀ | ʺeven if this corpse was a holy bodyʺ |
то би ѿкри́ль бг҃ь некоѧ чꙋдеса | ʺGod would show some miraclesʺ | |
52: | ҆и ѡстави́хꙋ на това местѡ ҆ѡнова ст҃ое тело | and they left that holy body on this place |
53: | ҆и ҆ѡтидоша си | and they went away |
54: | ҆и ҆единь чл҃векь ѿ ни́хь | and one man from among them |
҆име мꙋ бе́ше. геѡргиа | his name was George | |
видѐ сьнь тако́вь чꙋдень ҆и стрáшень | he saw such a miraculous and terrible dream | |
като че цр҃ца некоꙗ седнꙋ-ла на пр͒толь | as if some empress was sitting on a throne | |
55: | ҆и момци мло́го стоють предь не҆ꙗ́ | and many boys were staying in front of her |
56: | и ҆ꙗ́ като виде́хь таково чꙋдо ѿ стрáхь падохь ни́ць: нá землю | (George said:) ʺand as I saw that miracle, I fell down to the groundʺ |
57: | ҆á единь ѿ ҆ѡниа мꙋжь: ст҃ливь фанꙋ ме за рꙋкꙋ | ʺand one of those shining men grabbed me by the handʺ |
58: | ҆и дигнꙋ ме | ʺand he lifted meʺ |
59: | ҆и рече | ʺand told me:ʺ |
60: | чл҃вече не боиши ли се ти ѿ бг҃а | ʺO man, don't you fear God (at all)?ʺ [CS!] |
61: | не ви́диш ли товà тело че е гни́ло ҆и смрьде́що | ʺdon't you see that this body is rotten and stinking?ʺ |
62: | ҆и погребо́сте го при тело то бж҃иꙗ рáби параскеѵи | ʺand you've buried it next to the body of the God's servant Parascheva?!ʺ [CS!] |
63: | но скоро ҆иди | (Parascheva said:) ʺWell, go quicklyʺ |
64: | ҆и прикáжи на сви́ те твой братиꙗ да ме избáвать ѿ толико смрáдь | ʺand tell all your brothers to free me from so much stenchʺ |
65: | ҆áко ли това не сотво́ришь: по йстинꙋ познаваи че ѿ ҆о́г҃нь ѿ бо́га ҆имате поги́бнꙋти | ʺif you won't do this, be sure that you'll have to perish in the God's fireʺ |
66: | защо ҆áзь есмь чл҃векь | ʺbecause I am a humanʺ |
67: | ҆и бáщина ми ѐ товà ме́сто | ʺand this is my hometownʺ |
68: | ви́дите ли какво хоротꙋва ст҃аꙗ параске́ѵа геѡргию на сьнь | do you see what St Parascheva says to George in this night's dream? |
69: | ꙋ тꙋю нощь некоѧ женà | (and) some woman |
и́ме и беше ефїмиа | her name was Eufemia | |
҆и ѡна тако́вꙗ сьнь видѐ | she saw such such a dream too | |
70: | ҆и коги би ꙋ ютро | and when it became a morning |
҆и двойца та на свь наро́дь приказáхꙋ | and the two told (that) to all the people | |
71: | ҆и тиꙗ лꙋге щото чꙋхꙋ тако́вꙗ сьнь свѝ ꙋзехꙋ свещи | and this people, who heard (about) such a dream, took candles |
72: | ҆и прїидо́хꙋ нади тело то ст҃їѧ параске́ѵи | and they came (to the place) over the body of St Parascheva |
73: | ҆и ꙋзеха го | and they took it |
74: | ҆и положи́ха го ꙋ ковчегь чт͒нь | and they put it into a true coffin |
75: | ҆и зане́соха го̀ ꙋ҆ цр҃квꙋ ст҃имь ҆áп͒тломь | and they brought it to a church of the Saint Apostles |
76: | ҆и мло́го и͒целенїе творит ҆и до дне́шни де́нь | and it causes (ʺcreatesʺ) a lot of healing until today |
77: | бе́сни ҆исцеленїе прїимꙋть | the mad receive healing |
78: | сле́пи прозирают | the blind begin to see |
79: | хроми проходꙋть | the lame walk |
80: | ҆и ѿ свекакви неволи ко́й ѿиде тамо ҆исцеленїе при҅ема | and who goes there receives healing from all (the kinds of) ill |
81: | ҆и нищо за ҆исцеленїе не дава ни сребро ни злáто ни безсце́но камене | and he doesn't give anything for the healing, neither silver, nor gold, nor priceless gems |
