20:	sásь ptíci te díva vočka edéše	he ate wild fruit with birds

24:	ʾa cr̃ь ʾiródь četvértovólenь ʾimaše bráta filípa	but king Herod, the Tetrarch, had a brother Philipp
25:	ta fílipovu tu ženù privéde za sébe dá mu búde katò ženà	and he brought Philipp's wife to himself to be his wife
26:	ʾá pr͒rókь ïwʾanь vidè če poĭde cr̃ь ne čt͒o	but prophet John saw, that the king was acting dishonorably
27:	ʾá w´nь se naʾwružì sa͒ ʾWrúžie	but he armed himself with weapons
28:	ʾi dúmaše cr̃u mučítelju	and he spoke to the king, the tormentor
29:	ne e prílilično tébe cr̃u da privedéšь ženù filipovu bratu tvoemu da bude tébe žéna	ʺit is not appropriate for you, o king, to bring the wife of your brother Philipp, to become your wifeʺ

36:	ʾi kata: dénь xódeše pijánь dovólno ʾi slastoljubiv ʾi blúdnikь	and he was drunk everyday, and caring for pleasure and lechery
37:	ʾi zagubi si pámetь	and he lost his mind
38:	ʾi kata čásь privláčeše píjanicu ʾi blúdničini d͛štéri	and every hour he brought in a drunkard (?) and daughters of adultery
39:	ta gi tóĭ ʾi goštéva za bezúmie negóvo źlo ʾi proróka ubiĭstvò	and he feasted with them because of his mindlessness and murdery of prophet
40:	ʾi prinésoxu ïwanu čt͒noju ʾegò glávu na bljúdo	and they brought the honorable head of John on a plate
41:	ʾi dadoxa ju blúdnici ʾi preljubodeĭnici prókleti ženè	and they gave it to the adulterous and lecherous and accursed woman (of Philipp)
42:	i ʾwšte krьvь kapè	and the blood still dripped
43:	a ʾwna dumaše	and she spoke:
44:	taʾjá glava da béše zanésena u sevástiju gráda	ʺif that head was brought to Sebastia!ʺ
45:	ʾi da beše wtnesena dalékь wt ʾierl͒ima kolkoto da ne móže da se čue glavá ta ïwʾanova ʾu ierl͒imь	ʺif that head of John was carried so far from Jerusalem, so that no one can hear it!ʺ
46:	ʾi tova ču četvértovlástnikь cr̃ь ʾirodь pr͒rokoubiʾica	and the Tetrarch, king Herod the Prophet-slayer, heard it
47:	ʾi támo savrьši se sva rabóta	and thus the deed was done
48:	ʾi togíva prïidóxu učeníci xr͒tóvi	and then came the disciples of Christ
49:	ta ʾwvíxu ʾwnova čt͒noe telo ïwánovo sasь dári mlógocenì	and they packed the honorable body of John with precious gifts
50:	ʾi pogrebóše go čt͒no	and they duly buried him
51:	tógo ml͂tvami xr͒te bž͂e pomíluĭ	o Christ the God, have mercy on us by his prayers
52:	ʾi sp͒i dš̃i náša vaségda ʾi vo vek	and save our souls forever and ever
