2: ҆оч҃е. бл҃гословѝ проче́сти моли́твáми ст҃и ҆о́те́ць [Title] o Father, bless the readers by the prayers of the holy fathers
3: Сле́дь вознесе́нїе гд͒а, бг҃а ҆и сп͒а нáшего ии͒са хр͒та мáрта се́стра лáзаровà та ѡтидѐ ♣ ва ри́мь на златà ҆ꙗ́болкà при цáра ҆áвьгꙋстà кесáра Following the ascension of the Lord, God, and our saviour, Jeus Christ, Martha, the Lazarusʹ sister, went to Rome, to the Golden Apple, to king Augustus Ceasar
4: ҆и припáднꙋ при не́го са͒ плач And she fell to him crying
5: ҆и ре́че мꙋ And told him
6: поми́лꙋй ме цр҃ꙋ да при́йдемь при́ те́бе да тѝ продꙋ́мамь не́коꙗ̀ ре́чь ʺHave mercy with me, oh king, as I come to you to tell you a wordʺ
7: тогива ре́че цр҃ь Then the king said:
8: кажи́ ми ҆ѡ же́но защо̀ толко плачеш ʺTell me, oh woman, why you cry so muchʺ
9: ҆и марта ре́че And Marta said:
10: гоп͒оди́не дрьжáвни ҆и чести́ти на мно́га лета жи́вь да бꙋ́дешь ʺo honorable lord of the land, may you live for many yearsʺ
11: дꙋма ҆имáмь да тѝ дꙋ́мамь ҆и ва ҆истинꙋ да ти кáжемь чꙋдна работа ʺI have a word to tell you, truly a miraculous thingʺ
12: но́ да тѐ настáви бг҃ь на правда ҆и на истинꙋ ʺBut may God set you up to the truthʺ
13: ҆и ре́че ҆ей цр҃ь And the king told her:
14: ҆ѿ ко́҆ꙗ си землꙗ̀ дошлà ти тꙋ́ка ʺWhich country have you come here?ʺ
15: ҆и ѿ кой си лю́дие ʺand from which people?ʺ
16: ҆и мáрта ре́че and Martha said:
17: ҆азь ҆есмь ѿ зе́млю мади҆амскꙋ ʺI am from the land of Madiamʺ
18: но сь́мь дошлà да тѝ дꙋмамь за добро̀ ʺBut I came to tell you for something goodʺ
19: цр҃ь ре́че The king said:
20: дꙋмáй ко́лко щешь ʺSpeak as much as you wantʺ
21: тоги́ва мáрта ре́че Then Martha said:
22: гоп͒оди́не ҆ꙗ́ви се ҆еди́нь мꙋ́жь ꙗкь ҆и си́лень нá землю дето̀ никой не бе́ше виде́ль такь́вꙗ чл҃векь ʺLord, a mighty and strong man appeared in a land where nobody has ever seen such a personʺ
23: ҆и никой не може ҆искáза него́ви те дꙋ́ми ʺAnd nobody could utter his wordsʺ
24: мрь́тви ҆ѡжи́влꙗше ʺHe revived the deadʺ
25: сле́пи прогледвахꙋ ʺThe blind sawʺ
26: бо́лни ҆исце́лваше ʺHe healed the illʺ
27: ҆и
беснѝ ҆о́здрáвлꙗше ʺAnd healed the possessedʺ
28: ҆а пилáт го предáде на евре҆е те ʺAnd Pilate handed him over to the Hebrewsʺ
29: ҆и распе́ха го ʺand they crucified himʺ
30: ҆и логи́нь со́тникь ре́бра та мꙋ̀ пробо́де ʺAnd Longinus the centurion pierced his ribbsʺ
31: та ҆исте́че крьвь ҆и вода ʺand blood and water came outʺ
32: ҆и чꙋ цр҃ь та҆ꙗ́ дꙋма and when the king heard this word
33: ҆и сладко ҆и кро́тко пи́таше ю̀ sweetly and gently he asked
34: ҆ѡ жено ҆исти́на лѝ дꙋ́машь ʺO woman, do you tell the truth?ʺ
35: защо́ е би́ль такь́вꙗ чл҃векь ʺwas it really such a man?ʺ
36: ҆и мо́же ли дрꙋ́ги члове́кь мартꙋри́са че е било̀ така ʺand can other people testify that it was like that?ʺ
37: мáрѳа ре́че Martha said:
38: гд͒и́не брáть мо́й бе́ше ꙋмре́ль ʺLord, my brother was deadʺ
39: ҆и ва гро́бь бе́ше поло́жень ʺand he was burried in a tombʺ
40: ҆и лежà ·д· днѝ мрть́вь ʺand he laid there for four days deadʺ
41: ҆а ѡн го̀ ҆оживѝ ʺand he revived himʺ
42: ҆и сьга хо́ди жи́вь: по́ земи ʺand now he walks lively in the landʺ
43: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь and the king said:
44: да пꙋ́щи не́коꙗ̀ слꙋгà ва йѐрꙋсали́мь да дове́дꙋть некого ѿ ти́ꙗ лю́дие що ги́ е ҆исцелиль ҆и ҆ѡживи́ль ҆о́нꙗ̀ чл҃векь дето го̀ мáрта фале́ше ʺMay a servant be sent to Jerusalem to find anybody of that people that this person healed and revived and whom Martha praisedʺ
45: ҆и ва ҆исти́нꙋ цр҃ь пꙋ́щи слꙋгà сво́҅его каѱо́фа дá доведѐ не́кого and in truth, the king send his servant Kapsof (?) to bring somebody
46: ҆и доведоха того́ва чл҃века дето̀ бе́ше сле́пь ҆и прогледáль ҆и мартꙋри́са какво е ҆истина било̀ таквáва чꙋдесà And they brought that man which was blind and saw and he testified that these wonders were true
47: ҆и писáхꙋ ҆еме́рь and they wrote a decree
48: ҆и ва еме́рь писахꙋ мáртꙋ ҆и логи́на ҆и лáзара And in decree, they wrote about Martha, Longinus, and Lazarus
49: па тоги́ва ги пꙋ́щи цр҃ь ҆áвгꙋсть ꙋ ри́мь And then the king Augustus send them to Rome
50: ҆и коги ҆ѡтидо́ха ꙋ римь ҆и вле́зохꙋ ꙋ полáти цр҃еви and when they came to Rome they entered the royal palace
51: ҆и потре́се се свà полáта цр҃ева and the palace of the king shook
52: ҆и рече цр҃ь and the king said:
53: тоꙗ бе́легь що се чи́ни ꙋ то́ꙗ де́нь ҆и чáсь голе́мое чꙋдо ʺthis thing is a great wonder, what happened on this day and momentʺ
54: ҆и ꙋплаши́ се цр҃ь and the king got scared
55: ҆и рекохꙋ бол҆ꙗре and the boyars said
56: гд͒ине да не бꙋ́де легомà зарадѝ тѝ҆ꙗ̀ лю́дие дето дойдоха ѿ ҆иерꙋсали́мь да дꙋ́мать за хр͒та распе́таго ʺLord, (what if it) is because of the people that came from Jerusalem to talk about Christ, the crucifiedʺ
57: та се чи́ни тáꙗ чꙋдесà and so these wonders appeared
58: тоги́ва ре́че царь then the king said:
59: излезне́те свѝ надво́рь ҆изь полáти мой ʺAll of you, go out of my palaceʺ
60: ҆излезо́ха сь́вь наро́дь що бе́хꙋ се сабрáли ꙋ цр҃еви дворо́ве All the people who had gathered in the yards of the king left
61: ҆и пакь ре́че цр҃ь And the king said again:
62: влазе́те ҆еди́нь по ҆еди́нь ʺCome in one by one ʺ
63: та да ви́димь заради кого́ се трꙋ́си дом мо́й so that I see because of whom my house has been shaking
64: ҆и сви вле́зоха and they all entered
65: ҆и коги ще́ше да вле́зе лог҃и ҆á то се потрꙋси полата ҆още по стрáшно and when Longinus wanted to enter, the palace shook even stronger
66: ҆и свѝ лю́дие ꙋплашихꙋ се. and all the people got scared
67: ҆и ѿ стрáхь не може́хꙋ да гле́дать ꙋ логи́на and out of fear, they could not look at Longinus
68: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь логи́нꙋ and the king said to Longinus:
69: чл҃вече ти какьв сѝ ʺo man, what are you?ʺ
70: та зарадѝ те́бе ще́ме дá поги́неме ʺfor we are going to perish because of youʺ
71: ҆á логи́нь ре́че And Longinus said:
72: ѡ͒ гд͒ине знáй че заради ме́не не е тáꙗ̀ рабо́тà ʺO lord, know that this work is not because of meʺ
73: но е заради хр͒тà распе́таго бг҃а моего що го ҆ꙗ́ пробо́дохь на кр͒те ва ре́бра та ʺBut it is because of Christ, the saviour, my God, whom I pierced his ribs on the crossʺ
74: та йсте́че крь́вь ҆и водà ʺand blood and water came outʺ
75: ҆и сл҃нце то по́мрькнꙋ ʺand the sun darkenedʺ
76: ҆и каменїе рáспадá се ʺand stones fell apartʺ
77: ҆и цр҃ко́вна заве́са раздрá се ʺand the temple curtain toreʺ
78: ҆и ѕвездѝ те ѿ небо́ то попадáхꙋ ʺand the stars fell from the skyʺ
79: ҆и тꙋ́ка е то҆ꙗ́ чл҃век дето го̀ хр͒то́сь ѡ͒живѝ ʺand there is this man, who had been dead, whom Christ revivedʺ
80: мрьтвь̀ бе́ше, лáзарь ʺLazarus was deadʺ
81: па ҆ѡживе ʺand then he became aliveʺ
82: ҆и ѡщѐ мло́го лю́дие ҆ѡживеха ѿ мрьтвихь ʺand even more people were revived from the deadʺ
83: тоги́ва ре́че цр҃ь Then the king said:
84: вь ҆истинꙋ верꙋ́ваме ʺin truth, we believe (it)ʺ
85: но защо̀ мо́й до́мь зарадѝ те́бе се трꙋ́си ʺbut why did my home tremble because of youʺ
86: ҆и нїе сви́ се бойме ѿ то́҆ꙗ́ стрáшни трꙋсь ʺand we all got afraid of this awful earthquakeʺ
87: ҆и ре́че логи́нь and Longinus said:
88: легомà затовá е защо́ е ри́за та не́гова на ме́не, ʺthat is, because his shirt is on meʺ
89: ҆и ре́че мꙋ цр҃ь and the king told him:
90: ҆изле́зь нáдворь ʺget out ʺ
91: ҆и соблечѝ та҆ꙗ́ ри́за ѿ се́бе ʺand take off that shirtʺ
92: ҆и кога вле́знꙋ логи́нь после ꙋ полáти цр҃ви тоги́ва вечѐ не мà ни́ трꙋс ни́ страх and when Longinus went out, there were no quakes nor fright in the palace of the king
93: ҆и ꙋ товà вре́ме ҆имашѐ цр҃ь жи́вини́ца на но́сь зла And in that time, the king had scrofula on his nose
94: ҆и мло́го мꙋ пáкось чи́неше and it hurt him a lot
95: ҆и не може́хꙋ хекимџи́е да го̀ ҆исце́лать and the doctors could not heal him
96: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь and the king said:
97: да бе́ше то́ꙗ чл҃векь сегà тꙋ́ка та би́ ме ҆исце́лиль ѿ тáꙗ̀ болесть ʺif this man was here now, he would have healed meʺ
98: ҆и мáрта ре́че and Martha said:
99: гд͒и́не т҆о҆ꙗ́ чл҃ве́кь ҆и на небо́ то да е ʺLord, even when this man is in the heavenʺ
100: тѝ поменѝ него́во ҆име ʺYou, mention his nameʺ
101: ҆о́нь ще те́бе пáкь ҆исце́ли ʺHe will heal you anywayʺ
102: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь and the king said:
103: мáрто какво̀ да рече́мь ʺo Martha, what should I say?ʺ
104: на какво ҆име да го̀ пови́камь ʺBy which name should I call him?ʺ
105: ҆и мáрта ре́че and Martha said:
106: цр҃ꙋ пре́кр͒ти та҆ꙗ̀ бо́лесь трѝ пꙋ́ти ʺo king, make the cross on your illness three timesʺ
107: ҆и речи ʺand say:ʺ
108: .:. во ҆име .:. ҆о́ц҃а .:. ҆и сн҃а .:. ҆и ст҃аго .:. дх҃а ʺin the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spiritʺ
109: ҆и ꙋчини цр҃ь тако́й какво́ мꙋ ре́че мáрта and the king did as Martha told him
110: ҆и тоги́ва ҆испáде ҆о́нáꙗ живини́ца пред цр҃а на трьпе́за and then that scrofula fell off the king and on the table
111: ҆и когѝ видѐ товà цр҃ь and as the king saw it
҆и разꙋмѐ защо̀ то҆ꙗ́ чл҃векь сь́вь ст҃ь дрьжѝ he understood that this man holds the whole world (in his power)
҆и щото́ е направи́ль нб҃о ҆и зе́млю (as he) created the heavens and the earth
112: ҆и зарадꙋ́ва се: срдце то него́во and his heart rejoiced
113: ҆и сась тре́перанїе припáде при лáзара ҆и при логи́на and trembling he fell towards Lazarus and Longinus
114: ҆и дꙋмаше ҆имь цр҃ь and the king told them:
115: кр͒те́те ме. во ҆име. хр͒тово ʺBaptize me in the name of Christ!ʺ
116: ҆и ѡни́ го кр͒ти́ха and they baptized him
117: ҆и сьбрá си свá та войска него́ва and he took his entire army
118: ҆и ҆ѡтидѐ на ҆ерꙋсали́мь and went against Jerusalem
119: ҆и сьбра сви́ те еврейски кни́жни́ци ҆и влдци ҆и дрꙋ́ги воево́ди ҆и болꙗ́ре and he gathered all the Hebrew law scholars, bishops, dukes, and boyars
120: ҆и повелѐ да ги посечꙋ́ть and ordered to behead them
121: ҆и секо́ха ги догдѐ пáднꙋ мрáкь ѿ небо́ то на ни́хь and they beheaded them so that darkness fell on them out of Heaven
122: ҆и секо́ха ймь жени те ҆и децá та ймь and they beheaded their wives and children
123: ҆и когѝ пáднꙋ: тмà ѿ небо́ то ть́мна като магла ҆и нѝщо се жи́во не ви́ди по то́ꙗ ст҃ь тоги́ва ре́че цр҃ь да престáнꙋть ѿсче́нїе and when this darkness fell from Heaven like fog and nobody alive is seen on this world, the king said to stop the retaliation
124: ҆и престáнꙋ се́чь and the massacre ended
125: ҆и ди́гнꙋ се тмá та ҆и маглá та ѿ ҆исеченї те лю́дие and the darkness and the fog raised from the beheaded people
126: ҆и преброй ги цр҃ь and the king counted them
127: ҆и найде ·вı· хи́лꙗди лю́дие ҆исе́чени and he found 12000 beheaded people
128: ҆á дето бе́ха ꙋтекли жи́ви ҆á цр҃ь ни́хь ҆ѡпро́сти but those that had run away were alive and the king forgave them
129: ҆и раздели́ ги на свáки грáдь по дво́йца and separated them by two per every city
130: а пилáта фанáхꙋ ҆и ѡковáха го ꙋ си́нџи́рь and they caught (Pontius) Pilate and put him in chains
131: ҆и тоги́ва моле́ше се пилáть And then Pilate prayed
132: ҆и дꙋмаше: and he said:
133: гд͒и́не не де́й да посече́шь мене ско́ро ʺLord, do not quickly behead meʺ
134: но дáй ми мꙋче́нїе лю́то дано̀ бꙋ́демь ҆и ꙗ причете́нь ва стáдо ҆избрáное ʺbut torture me fiercely as I am too added to the herd of the chosenʺ
135: тоги́ва ҆áвьгꙋсть цр҃ь мꙋчѝ пи́лата ѕлѐ Then Augustus fiercely tortured Pilate
136: ҆á пилáть гле́даше: го́ре на нб҃са and Pilate looked up to the sky
137: ҆и мо́леше се бг҃ꙋ and he prayed to God
138: ҆и дꙋ́маше and he said:
139: поми́лꙋй ме бж҃е ʺo God, have mercy on meʺ
140: ҆и прїйми́ ме ва цр͒тво̀ твоѐ ʺAnd receive me in your kingdomʺ
141: ҆и чꙋ́ се глáсь пилáтовь на нб҃са and Pilateʹs voice was heard in Heaven
142: ҆и дꙋмаше гд͒ь and the Lord said:
143: радꙋй се возлюбле́ни́ мо́й ʺRejoice my belovedʺ
144: пре́дь престо́ль: ҆оц҃а мое́го ще да сто́й тво҆ꙗ́ та глáва пи́лáте до фто́ро прише́ствїе. ʺIn front of my Fatherʹs throne, your head will stand, Pilate, until the Second Comingʺ
145: ҆и ѿсе́че мꙋ главá та слꙋгà цр҃ева and a servant of the king chopped off his head
146: ҆и ꙋзе ҆ꙗ́ ҆áг҃гель гд͒нь and an angel of God took it
147: ҆и зане́се ꙗ нá нб҃са and carried it to Heaven
148: ҆и тоги́ва каиафь побегнꙋ ва пꙋ́стиню and then Caiaphas fled into the desert
149: ҆и скри́ се ҆ꙗ́ко на скри́то ме́сто and he hid himself in a hidden place
150: ҆и когѝ бѝ ·и· де́нь по самрь́ть пилато́ва ҆изле́зе цр҃ь ҆áвгꙋсть на лло́вь And 20 days after Pilateʹs death, king Augustus left for a hunt
151: и испꙋ́ди рогáче сась хрьти те сво́й and he chased deers with his greyhounds
152: ҆и тамо ҆имаше пе́щера and there was a cave
153: ҆и станꙋ рогáчь пре́дь пеще́ра тà дето се бе́ше скри́ль кайꙗфь and a deer was in front of the cave where Caiaphas had hidden himself
154: ҆и цр҃ь пꙋщѝ стре́лꙋ на рогáча and the king shot an arrow on the deer
155: ҆и стрелá та като ле́ти та зами́нꙋ рꙋгáча and the arrow, as it flew, it missed the deer
156: та ꙋдáри кайафа ꙋ срдце то and it hit Caiaphas in the heart
157: ҆и ҆ѡтидѐ момь́кь цр҃евь да зе́ме стрела та and a boy of the king went to get the arrow
158: ҆и найде кáйафа ꙋстре́лень лежѝ ҆и сте́нꙗ and he found Caiaphas being shot and moaning
159: ҆á цр҃ь ꙋти́де and the king went
160: ҆и виде and saw (him)
161: ҆и почꙋ́ди се каквà би таꙗ рáбота and he wondered what it might be
162: ҆ꙗ́ стрелнáхь на рогáча ʺI shot at a deerʺ
163: а ҆ꙗ́ ꙋстрели́хь кайафꙋ ʺand I hit Caiaphas!ʺ
164: ҆и цр҃ь ще́ше не́що да попи́та кайафꙋ and the king wanted to ask Caiaphas something
165: догдѐ цр҃ь да ѡти́де при не́го ҆á ҆онь ҆изьдь́хна but before (the king) came to (Caiaphas), he died
166: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь and the king said:
167: слава те́бе хр͒тѐ бж҃е нáшь ʺGlory to you, o Christ, our Godʺ
168: защо́ е вели́ка ҆и стрáшна тво҆ꙗ́ та рáбота ʺbecause your work is great and frightfulʺ
169: ҆и ко́йто не е ви́дель тá҆ꙗ чꙋде́са ҆á ҆ѡнь по добрѐ да верꙋва ва еди́наго си́на бж҃иа and who has not seen these wonders, he might better believe in the one divine son
170: прїйми моли́тви мо҃ле́нїꙗ мое́го .:. accept my prayers of supplication
во ҆име ҆оц҃а, ҆и сн҃а ҆и ст҃аго дх҃а in the name of Father and Son and the Holy Spirit
нынѣ̀ ҆и при́сно ҆и во ве́ки веко́вь .:. now and ever and forever
171: ами́нь .:. amen
172: рече .:. гд͒ь .:. верꙋвáй .:. ваме say: o Lord, we believe
173: бꙋ́деть .:. блáгословень .:. до́ века .:. ва сегда may (?) be blessed forever
