3: | разꙋмейте брáтие хꙋбáво ҆и достохвáлно | Understand well and commendably, brothers |
4: | ҆и да бꙋ́дете, бл҃гослове́ни ѡ всех мл͒ти́ваг б҃а | and may you be blessed from the all merciful God |
5: | Имаше ҆едно вре́ме еди́нь чл҃векь бг҃атъ | There was once a rich man |
6: | та ҆ѡтиде на едно̀ ме́сто ꙋ еднà го́ра ♣ да трáжѝ ме́сто да грáди монастир | And he went to a place on a mountain to find a place to build a monastery |
7: | ҆и наи́де | and he found |
8: | ҆и харе́ѯа | and he liked (it) |
9: | та фáнꙋ да грáди манасти́ра | and he began to build a monastery |
10: | че видѐ че е чꙋ́дно скри́то место ҆и имени́то | and he saw that it is a miraculous, hidden, and glorified place |
11: | ҆и сази́да манасти́ра | and he founded a monastery |
12: | ҆и наре́че ҆име на монасти́ра дꙋхиꙗ́рь | And he gave the monastery the name Docheiarios |
13: | по́сле стáнꙋ ҆и ҆ѡнь галꙋ́герь | Afterwards he became a monk too |
14: | ҆и немꙋ тꙋри́ха име не҆ѡ́фить | And they gave him the name Neophyte |
15: | ҆и по това станꙋ ҆игꙋме́нъ | and afterwards he became abbot |
16: | доврьшѝ ҆о́н҆ꙗ́ ст҃и монасти́рь | he finished this holy monastery |
17: | свѐ- токо ҆о́станꙋ, да се подпи́ше сáсь ̉ѡбрáзи | only thing remained to decorate it with pictures |
18: | ҆и не сосá мꙋ ҆именїе | and his wealth was not enough |
19: | тоги́ва стáнꙋ гри́жень ҆о́нꙗ ҆игꙋмень не҆ѡфитъ:. | Then this abbot Neophyte became worried |
20: | ҆и мо́леше се бг҃ꙋ | And he prayed to God for a long time |
давно́ би мл͒тиви, бг҃ь ѿ не́где помо́гнꙋль | so that God might help somehow | |
да доврь́ши ст҃аго монасти́ра ҆и сась писмо́ то | to finish the holy monastery with pictures | |
21: | ҆и бг҃ь мꙋ послꙋ́ша моле́ние то | And God listened to his prayer |
22: | ҆и би́сть таково преслáвно, чꙋдо, | And so the glorious wonder came to be |
23: | спроти ст҃и гори ҆áньѳон͛ски́е дале́ко до ·ѯ· погле́де ҆имаше еди́нь ҆о́стро́вь | facing the Holy mountain Athos, 60 shots away, there was an island |
24: | ҆и ꙋ то҆ꙗ́ ҆о́стров ҆имаше еди́нь мето́вь манасти́рски | And on this island, there was a monastery ground (fief) |
25: | та се зове́ше ло́гь | And it was called Logos |
26: | та го ҆ѡбити́чаше водá та мо́ре то | and the water of the sea surrounded it |
27: | ҆и тамꙋ при ҆о́нꙗ метовь ҆имаше ҆еди́нь стльпь ѿ камик напрáвень ѿ прь́ви те вре́мена | And there, close to this monastery ground, there was one stone pillar made in the first times |
28: | ҆и на врьхь, стль́пꙋ бе́ше писáно таквáва дꙋма | And on the top of the pillar, such a word was written: |
29: | кой ме ꙋдáри ꙋ врь́хь, ҆ꙋ глáва та ♣ ҆о́нь ще да нáйде мло́го сре́бро ҆и злато | ʺHe, who will hit me at the top, at the head, will find a lot of silver and goldʺ |
30: | ҆и млого лю́дие фрьгáхꙋ кáта дн҃ь кáмене | And many people threw stones every day |
31: | та би́ехꙋ ви́сокь стльпь ꙋ глáвꙋ | and they were striking the high pillar at the top |
32: | и ꙋмервáха го | and they measured it |
33: | нищо ꙋ стль́пь не найдоха | They did not find anything on the pillar |
34: | но за таꙗ ре́чь бе́ше дрꙋга ми́сль, | but that word had another meaning |
35: | на врь́хь стль́пꙋ се́нкꙗ та гдѐ ҆о́ꙋпи́ра когѝ ҆исте́че слн҃це | where the shade of the top of the pillar falls at the dawn |
то тамо е би́ло ꙋ землꙗ́ та скрито | there it was hidden in the soil | |
36: | но бг҃ь ко́ги сака не́що да ҆ѡб҆ꙗ́ви | but when God wanted to announce something |
37: | ле́сно е би́ло да се нáмери ҆имáне | It was easy to find the wealth |
38: | и́маше на то́ꙗ метовь еди́нь млад мом͛кь | And in this convent, there was one young boy |
39: | та бе́ше пристáвинь | And he was a servant |
40: | да речеме че е млад | May I tell you that he is young |
41: | речѝ до ·к· го́динь | Say up to twenty years |
42: | ꙋце́нень да рáбо́ти на ҆о́нꙗ метовь | (he was) hired to work in this convent |
43: | ҆и ҆о́нь чт͒о ходе́ше при ҆онꙗ стль́пь | And he who walked close to this column |
44: | ҆и гле́даше. | And he looked |
45: | ҆и чꙋ́деше се | And he wondered |
46: | ҆и ва еди́нь де́нь ѿти́де тáмо | And one day he went there |
47: | и ѿкри́ мꙋ, бг҃ь, разꙋ́мь- | and God opened him the mind |
48: | ҆и ви́де гдѐ ꙋпи́ра стль́пꙋ врь́хь сенкꙗ т | And he saw where top of the shade of the column rested |
49: | ҆и по́че да ко́пае тáмо | and he started to dig there |
50: | ҆и найде, еди́нь:. мрамо́рь | And he found a marble |
51: | ҆и по́дь мрамо́ра ѕело голе́мь коте́ль пльнь сáсь жльти́ци | And under the marble (he found) a very big cauldron filled with coins |
52: | ҆и като виде то́ва ҆о́нꙗ момкь растрепе́ра се | And when he saw it, the boy trembled |
53: | ҆и покрѝ пáкь товà ме́сто | And he covered this place a bit |
54: | ҆и ҆ѡти́де н҆а монасти́рь, | And he went to the monastery |
55: | ҆и каза, ҆игꙋменꙋ не́҆ѡфи́тꙋ | and he told abbot Neophyte |
56: | ҆и ре́че | and said: |
57: | влдко ст҃и ҆име́ние мло́го найдохь на мето́ва нáшь при висо́киа стль́пь | ʺo holy lord, I found a lot of wealth on our fief next to the high pillarʺ |
58: | но дай ми ко́лко ще́шь брáтиа да ҆извади́ме ҆именїе то, да го донесе́ме ҆ꙋ монасти́рь | but give me as much as you want, brother, to take out the property to take it to the monastery |
59: | какво чꙋ то́ва ҆игꙋмень ҆á онь ҆избрà ·г· калꙋ́гере ве́рни | As the abbot heard this, he chose three faithful monks |
60: | ҆и пꙋщи ги сáсь геми́ꙗ монасти́рска, да донесáть ҆имáне то | and he sent them with a boat of the monastery to bring the property |
61: | ҆ѡтидоха | they went |
62: | ҆и извади́ха ҆имане то | and they took the property |
63: | ҆и тꙋри́ха го ꙋ геми́а та | and they took it to the boat |
64: | ҆и пли́вахꙋ по мо́ре то | and they swam to the sea |
65: | ҆и прельсти́хꙋ се ҆о́ни́ꙗ, калꙋгере | And those monks were seduced |
66: | ҆и договорѝхꙋ се да скри́ють, ҆имане́ то за се́бе си | And the agreed to hide the property for themselves |
67: | ҆и да го разде́лать тройца та калꙋ́герѐ | and to divide it, the three monks |
68: | ҆а ҆ѡно́гова мо́мкà фанáхꙋ ҆о́ни́ꙗ калꙋгере | And these monks caught that boy |
69: | та мꙋ̀ привезáхꙋ ками́кь на ши҆ꙗ́ та | And they bound a stone at his neck |
70: | ҆и метнꙋ́ха го ꙋ дно̀ ꙋ море́ то | And they threw him to the bottom of the sea |
71: | ҆и товá е би́ло ѿ вечерь коги ѿпели дꙋхѡ́вни́ци вечер͛нꙗ | And this was in the evening when the clergy sang for the dinner |
72: | ҆изле́зли ҆из манасти́рь | They went out of the monastery |
73: | ҆и затво́рили врáта | And they closed the door |
74: | та па си ѡтишли ꙋ кели́ю когѝ | And then they went to the cell |
҆о́нꙗ мо́м͛кь пáднꙋ ҆ꙋ дно̀ ꙋ море́ то | when this boy fell on the bottom of the sea | |
75: | па мꙋ доне́се гд͒ь на пáметь | and the Lord brought (an idea) to his mind |
76: | та ре́че | and he said: |
77: | ст҃и ҆áрх҃áнгеле бꙋди ми помощник | ʺo holy archangel, be my helperʺ |
78: | тоги́ва напрáсно станꙋ ҆áр҃хангель ми́хайль ҆и гаврїиль | |
79: | ҆ꙗ́ви́ха се пред͛ мом͛кá того като̀ двà ҆о́рла злáтокри́л͛ни | They appeared to this boy as two gold-winged eagles |
80: | ҆еди́нь чáсь го ҆извади́ха ҆из дно̀ ҆из море т | Once they took him out from the bottom of the sea |
81: | ҆и зане́соха го ꙋ монасти́ра | And carried him to the monastery |
82: | ҆и ѡстави́ха го ꙋ сре́дь монасти́ра | And left him in the middle of the monastery |
83: | ҆á ѡни҆ꙗ́ тройца калꙋге́ре товà чꙋдо не зна҆ꙗ́хꙋ | and these three monks did not know about this wonder |
84: | нело си раздели́хꙋ ҆о́но́ва ҆именїе на ·г· дело́ве | but divided that property in three parts |
85: | ҆и скри́ха го дале́кь ѿ монасти́ра | And hid it far away from the monastery |
86: | ҆и тáмо нощевáхꙋ на скеле́ то монасти́рско | And there they spent the night on the monastery scaffolding |
87: | ҆á он҆ꙗ́ мом͛кь като го ҆ѡстави́ли ҆ан͛г҃еле те н҆а сре́дь монасти́ра | and this boy as the angels left him in the middle of the monastery |
88: | ҆á ѡнь сиромах ѿ голем стрáхь заспáль на сре́дь монасти́ра | And the poor, he fell asleep in the middle of the monastery due to the big fear |
89: | ҆и на зарáнь стáнꙋ рáно кан͛дилáрь да запали кан͛дила ꙋ ст҃и монасти́рь | And when the lamplighter got up to enlighten the candles in the holy monastery |
90: | ҆á ѡнь ви́де че светѝ нещо на сре́дь монастир | And he saw that something was shining in the middle of the monastery |
91: | ҆и като видѐ ҆ꙋплáши се | And when he saw (it), he got scared |
92: | ҆и ре́че че́ е неко҆ꙗ́ саблáзнь | And he said that it was some evil apparition |
93: | ҆и врьнꙋ се назáть пак пойде втори пꙋть | And he came back a second time |
94: | ҆и пакь виде тов па се врьнꙋ назáть | And he saw it again, so he came back |
95: | ҆и не сме҆ꙗ́ да ꙋле́зне да запáли кан͛ди́ла та | And he did not dare to enter to enlighten the candles |
96: | нело ѿтидѐ | but went away |
97: | та казà на йгꙋмена | And he tells the abbot |
98: | ҆и рече кандилáрь | And the lamplighter said: |
99: | влдко при́вель неко́й еднà саблазна бесо́в͛ска на сре́дь монастир | ʺo lord, somebody has brought a devilish apparition into the middle of the monasteryʺ |
100: | ҆и ст҃и като̀ ѕвездà | ʺand it shines like a starʺ |
101: | ҆и не смеꙗх да вле́зне́мь | ʺand I did not dare to enterʺ |
102: | ҆и рече мꙋ ҆игꙋмень | And the abbot told him: |
103: | що́ се бойшь о͒ че́до | ʺWhat are you afraid of, o child?ʺ |
104: | сторѝ кр͒ть, на се́бе | ʺcross yourselfʺ |
105: | ҆и влезни, безь стрáхь | ʺand enter without fearʺ |
106: | ҆и па ре́че кан͛дилáрь | And then the lamplighter said: |
107: | не смею ҆о́ч҃е да вле́знемь | ʺI do not dare to enter, o fatherʺ |
108: | като чꙋ ҆игꙋмень .:. тре́ти пꙋть ҆á онь пойде | As the abbot heard (it) the third time, he went |
109: | ҆и канди́ларо по не́го | And the lamplighter (went) with him |
110: | та влезнахꙋ ꙋ манасти́рѡ | and they entered the monastery |
111: | тоги́ва видѐ ҆и самь ҆игꙋмень че йсти́на лежѝ ҆о́нꙗ мом͛кь на сред монастира | Then even the abbot saw that the boy was really lying in the middle of the monastery |
҆и ками́кь мꙋ приве́зань, на ши́а та | and (that) a stone was tied to his neck | |
112: | ҆и почꙋди́ се ҆игꙋмень | And the abbot wondered |
113: | па го ꙋдáри по лек сáсь пате́рицꙋ | And he gently hit him with a crutch |
114: | ҆и разбꙋди́ го | and he woke him up |
115: | тоги́ва продꙋмà ҆о́нꙗ момкь | Then this boy began to speak |
116: | ҆и рече | and he said: |
117: | каже́те ми брáтиꙗ | ʺTell me, brothersʺ |
118: | где́ смь сега ҆áзь | ʺwhere am I now?ʺ |
119: | чини ми се че смь̀ на дно ꙋ море́ то дето ме метнáхꙋ три́ те калꙋгере | ʺIt seems to me that I am at the bottom of the sea where the three monks threw meʺ |
120: | ҆и рече́ мꙋ ҆игꙋ́мень | And the abbot told him: |
121: | не знае́ш ли ҆ѡ че́до каде́ си | ʺo child, don't you know where you are?ʺ |
122: | тꙋкá си ꙋ манасти́рь дꙋхар͛ски дето́ смь ҆ꙗ́ ҆игꙋмень неофи́ть | ʺYou are here at the Douxarion monastery where I, Neophyte, am the abbotʺ |
123: | ҆áми ти що ще́шь тꙋ́ка | ʺBut what do you want here?ʺ |
124: | кажи́ ми че́до що си пати́ль | ʺTell me, child, what did you suffer?ʺ |
125: | тогива рече ҆о́нꙗ̀ мо́мкь | Then this child said: |
126: | ҆ѡставе́те ме мáл͛ко да се посве́стимь | ʺLeave me for a moment, so that I come to my senses a bitʺ |
127: | та па щемь сви́чко то чꙋдо кáза що смь̀ пати́ль по редꙋ ѿ ҆о́ниа трѝ калꙋ́гере | ʺAnd I will tell you about the wonder that I have suffered in the course from these three monksʺ |
128: | тоги́ва мꙋ рече ҆игꙋмень | Then the abbot told him: |
129: | ти се́ди тꙋ́ка догде́ се сьмне | ʺSit down here until the dawnʺ |
130: | ҆á ни҆ꙗ́ да саврь́шиме ꙋтре́нꙗ ѿ нáдворь монасти́ра | ʺAnd we should finish the matins outside the monasteryʺ |
догдѐ доидат ѿ ске́ле то ҆они́а тройца калꙋ́гере | ʺuntil these three monks come out of the scaffoldsʺ | |
да ви́дать ҆и сáми то́ва преслáвное чꙋдо | ʺto see the glorious wonder themselvesʺ | |
131: | ҆и на ю́тре пꙋщѝ ҆игꙋмень на скеле́ то за ҆о́ниа калꙋ́гере | In the morning, the abbot sent (someone) for these monks to the scaffold |
132: | та дойдоха ҆и тройца та | and the three came |
133: | ҆и рече ймь ҆игꙋмень | And the abbot told them: |
134: | що́ стори́хте ҆о́ц҃и за ѡно́ва ҆имение | ʺwhat did you do, o fathers, with that wealth?ʺ |
135: | ҆и они ре́коха ҆игꙋменꙋ | And they said to the abbot: |
136: | льжá е би́ло влдко за то́ва | ʺIt was a lie, o lordʺ |
137: | тькмо ни́ се присмеꙗ момько | ʺThe boy just laughed at usʺ |
138: | а нїе го, приѱꙋвáхме ҆и приплáши́хме | ʺAnd so we cursed and scared him a bitʺ |
139: | ҆á о́нь побе́гна ѿ нáсь | ʺAnd he ran away from usʺ |
140: | ҆и ре́че ҆имь ҆игꙋме́нь | and the abbot said to them: |
141: | слава тебе хр͒те бж҃е | ʺGlory be to you, o Christ the God!ʺ |
142: | при́йдете брáтиꙗ:. | ʺCome, brothers!ʺ |
143: | да вле́знеме ꙋ манасти́рь да бл҃годáриме бг҃а | ʺmay us enter the monastery to thank Godʺ |
144: | ҆и влезоха ꙋ монастирь | and they entered the monastery |
145: | ҆и видоха ҆о́ногов момка че лежѝ на сре́дь монасти́ра ҆и ками́кь мꙋ приве́зань на ши́а та | And they saw that boy that was laying in the middle of the monastery with the stone tied to its neck |
146: | ҆и като видеха момка того ҆о́ниа ·г· калꙋге́ре ҆и ѿ стрáхь би́ха ҆ꙗ́кѡ безглáсни | And when they saw that boy, these three monks were voiceless out of fear |
147: | тоги́ва ймь ре́че ҆игꙋмень | then the abbot said to them: |
148: | ѕле вáмь | ʺwoe to youʺ |
149: | ҆и го́рко пре́льсти вѝ д҆иаволь да ѿпаднете, ѿ слáвꙋ бж҃ию | ʺthe Devil has seduced you bitterly to fall off the divine gloryʺ |
150: | ҆и ꙋплаши́ха се ѕлѐ ҆о́ниꙗ калꙋгерѐ | And these monks got scared |
151: | ҆и донесоха сви́чко то ҆име́ние ꙋ манасти́рь | And they brought all the wealth to the monastery |
152: | тоги́ва ги ҆игꙋмень пропꙋди ҆из монасти́рь | And then the abbot expelled them from the monastery |
153: | ҆и побегнꙋха ꙋ не знáни страни | And they ran away to unknown countries |
154: | ҆á ѡнꙗ мом͛кь станꙋ калꙋгерь на ҆о́нова ме́сто | And that boy became a monk in this place |
155: | ҆и мло́го слáвꙋ возь҆исила бг҃ꙋ | and he gave much glory to God |
҆и оц҃ꙋ ҆и сн҃ꙋ ҆и ст҃омꙋ дх҃ꙋ | to Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit | |
н҆инꙗ̀ ҆и при́сно ҆и во ве́ки веко́вь | now and ever, and forever | |
