1: === сказáнїе зá ст҃аго слáвнаго пр͒ро́ка данила [Title] Tale of the holy glorious Prophet Daniel
2: какво̀ пребивà ꙋ цр҃а дáрїю [Title] How he lived by King Darius
3: цр҃ь дáриꙗ̀ беше не́кое време There was once a king (called) Darius
4: та ꙋтькмѝ да ҆има ꙋ него́во то цр͒тво ·рк· господáре and he decided to have 120 magistrates in his empire
5: че мꙋ се чине́ше че е така добре да и́ма мло́го запчи́й под него́ва рꙋка for he found it good to have many tax collectors under his hand
6: и на ти́а запчи́й ҆ѡстáви тро҆ица лю́дие разꙋмнѝ смотри́телѐ and over these tax collectors he appointed three wise people (as) overseers
7: сїм ре́чь да ги сапикáсꙋвать he told to these to watch over them
8: ѿ тро҆ица та ҆един͛ пр͒ро́кь данїиль among these three (there was) a prophet, Daniel
9: ҆и ҆ѡнь бе́ше са͒ ꙋмь наи разꙋмень ѿ сви́ те and he was the most wise with his mind of all
10: защо̀ бе́ше дх҃ь .:. ст҃и ꙋ него́во срдце́ because there was the Holy Spirit in his heart
11: та бе́ше млого ҆избрáнь ҆и целомꙋдр͛ь so he was well chosen (?) and prudent
12: ҆и сам сѝ цр҃ь се чꙋде́ше за неговь разꙋмь and the king himself was amazed by his wits
13: ҆и затовá го ҆оставѝ цр҃ь да бꙋ́де прьви начелни́кь ҆и стро́йтель and for that reason king made him the chief officier and manager
14: ҆и що беха господáре подь него́во цр͒тво̀ ҆á ѡни видо́ха че е почетень ѿ цр҃а дáниль, and the lords under his power saw that Daniel is honored by the king
15: и завиде́ха мꙋ and they were envious of him
16: ҆и ѿ тоги́ва сáкаха да мꙋ найдать неко́҆ꙗ́ кри́вдина and from then on they wanted to find something against him
давно би́ха нашли́ какáвь годерь кабахáть та да го̀ затри́ють до коне́ць to find any fault to destroy him forever
17: ѝ не можехꙋ никáкво да го ҆ѡкри́ват and they could not find anything
18: защо бе́ше ве́рень ҆и скꙋсень, на цр͒ки́ работѝ because he was pious and experienced in royal stuff
19: ҆и рекоше ҆они́а господáре междꙋ себе си́ and those lords decided among themselves:
20: ми́е дани́лꙋ не мо́жеме да найдеме никáква, кривди́на ʺwe cannot find any fault against Danielʺ
21: ть́кмо на ве́ра та щеме мꙋ нáй кри́вдина ʺwe are going to find a fault only in his faithʺ
22: ҆и ѡтидо́ха при́ цр҃а and they went to the king
23: ҆и ре́коха мꙋ and they told him:
24: дáрие цр҃ꙋ жи́вь бꙋ̀ди ва ве́ки ʺO Darius the king, may you live for ages!ʺ
25: да ꙋчи́ниме ҆еди́нь зго́ворь ʺlet us make an agreement!ʺ
26: сви лю́диѐ ко҆ито ҆едꙋть твой хле́бь при тво́ѐ, цр͒тво що сꙋ воиво́ди ҆и наче́лници ʺto all the people, who eat the bread of your kingdom, who are generals and commandersʺ
да ҆о́ꙋчи́нишь повеле́нїе по тво́е цр͒тво дá не посáка ни́кой нїщо некомꙋ за ·м· дн͛и ʺmay you create a decree (for them) over all of your empire, that no one will ask for anything for 40 daysʺ
нѝ ѿ бг҃а ни́ ѿ чл҃века ʺneither from a god, nor from a humanʺ
27: ҆áко ли́ се некой на҆иде да не послꙋ́ша тво́е повеле́нїе да се тꙋ́ри ҆ꙋ трáпо при раслáне те да го̀ изе́дꙋть ʺif anyone will be found disobeying your order, may he be thrown into a pit with lions, to eat him (alive)ʺ
28: ҆и послꙋшá ги дáриа, цр҃ь and king Darius obeyed them
29: ҆и написа таквáва повеле́ниа and he issued such a decree
30: á пр͒ро́кь дани́ль ҆имаше зако́нь трѝ пꙋ́ти дне́ска да се поклáнꙗ̀ бг҃ꙋ but prophet Daniel had a custom to kneel before God thrice a day
31: ҆и като с҆и ҆имаше зако́нь пáде на коле́на ꙋ ҆он҆ꙗ́ де́нь and, having the custom, he fell to his knees on that day
32: ҆и поклони́ се бг҃ꙋ ви́шнемꙋ̀ and he bowed down to the Highest God
33: ҆и ҆онѝа зави́сни́ци пригледáхꙋ and those envious ones watched
34: ҆и видеха данїйла че се мо́ли, бг҃ꙋ, and they saw Daniel praying to God
35: тогива ҆о́ниà гп͒одáре ҆о́ти́доха прѝ цара then these lords went to the king
36: ҆и рекохá мꙋ and they told him:
37: нали́ си ти́ постáвиль цр҃ꙋ неко́е повеле́нїе да не сáка никой нищо зá ·м· дни́ ни ѿ бг҃а ни ѿ чв҃ека, ʺO king, did you not issue an order, that no one should ask anyone for 40 days, neither a god, nor a human?ʺ
38: приидѝ сега самь си ʺcome now by yourselfʺ
39: та ви́шь дани́ла какво́ се мо́ли бг҃ꙋ ҆и поклáнꙗ́ мꙋ се ʺand see Daniel, as he is praying and kneeling to Godʺ
40: ҆о́нь сáка не́що ѿ бг҃а ʺhe wants something from the God!ʺ
41: тоги́ва цр҃ь кáто чꙋ за дáнила такава дꙋма ҆ꙗ́ко се ҆ѡгрижѝ then, as he heard such a word about Daniel, the king was much worried
42: че го ҆ꙗ́кѡ̀ мло́го лю́беше because he loved him very much
43: ҆и милꙋ́ваше г and he liked him
44: че мꙋ бе́ше най ве́рень дани́ль because Daniel was the most loyal one to him
45: ҆и не ще́ше мꙋ се да го̀ тꙋри ꙋ ҆ѡнꙗ трáпь при раслане те and he did not like the idea of throwing him to that hole to the lions
46: ҆и ѡни́а войводи прии́доха and those dukes came
47: ҆и рекоха цр҃ꙋ and they said to the king:
48: не́ е прили́чно те́бе цр҃ꙋ дá си развáлиш повеле́ние то, що сѝ, повеле́ль it is not appropriate to you, o king, to break the decree, which you have issued (by yourself)
49: ҆и цр҃ь вечѐ не ма що́ да ꙋчи́ни and the king could not do anything else
50: ҆áми повелѐ да го дове́дꙋть thus he commanded that he (Daniel) be brought
51: ҆и доведоха, д҆ани́ла, and they brought Daniel
52: ҆и тꙋриха го ꙋ о̀н҆ꙗ́ трап при раслáне те and they threw him to that pit to the lions
53: ҆и доне́соха кáмикь гѡле́мь and they brought a big stone
54: та затво́рихꙋ ꙋске́ то н҆а ѡ́н҆ꙗ́ трáпь and thus they closed the entrance of the pit
55: ҆и запечати́хꙋ, сáсь печáть цр͒кѝ and they sealed it with the royal seal
56: ҆и ѡниа воиводи сви́ те тꙋрихꙋ свой прь́сти and all those dukes put their fingers (on it)
57: та добрѐ запечати́хꙋ да не дойде неко́й да ҆извади данила so they sealed it off well, so that nobody comes and removes Daniel
58: ҆и цр҃ь ѿ млого гри́жа не вече́ра and the king did not dine because of worries
59: ҆и заспá цр҃ь гри́жень зá дани́ла and the king went to sleep worrying about Daniel
60: коги́ би пре́зь ҆о́на҆ꙗ́ но́щь гд͒ь пꙋщи ҆áр͛хан͛гела м҆ихáила during the night, the Lord sent Archangel Michael
61: та зáтвори ꙋста та на раслáне те and thus He closed the mouths of the lions
62: ҆и пренощева дáниль ҆ꙋ ҆онай трáпь не поче́кнать ѿ они́а ѕверо́ве and Daniel spent the night in the pit untouched by those beasts
63: коги́ би на зарáнь стáнꙋ цр҃ь заедно- сáсь ҆о́ни́а войводи at the dawn, the king woke up together with those dukes
64: та ҆ѡтидоха на ҆ѡн҆ꙗ́ трáпь гдето бе́ше фрьлень дани́ль при раслáне те and thus they went to that pit, where Daniel was thrown to the lions
65: ҆и повика цр҃ь ѿ далекь and the king called from afar:
66: жив͛ ли си дани́ле дрꙋже мо́й ʺo Daniel, my friend, are you alive?ʺ
67: ҆и даниль чꙋ ҆изнетре and Daniel heard from the inside
68: та ре́че and he said:
69: да си жи́вь цр҃ꙋ до века- ʺo king, may you live for ages!ʺ
70: гд͒ь пꙋщѝ ҆áн͛г҃ела свое́го ʺthe Lord sent His angelʺ
71: ҆и заградѝ ꙋстá та ль́вомь ʺand thus He closed the mouths of the lionsʺ
72: ҆и жи́вь смь до сь́га ʺand I am so far aliveʺ
73: ҆и зарадꙋвá се цр҃ь and the king rejoiced
74: тоги́ва ҆извади́ха дáн҆ила ѿ ҆о́нꙗ трáпь .:. then they removed Daniel from the pit
75: па тоги́ва ꙋ̀мрѐ цр҃ь дáриа then later king Darius died
76: та стáнꙋ па дрꙋ́ги́ цр҃ь кїро and then Cyrus became the new king
77: [тиа цр҃ове бехꙋ елине не кр҃шь неверници [sidenote] those kings were heathen, unbaptized unbelievers
78: ҆ѡни си сами правехꙋ бг҃а [sidenote] they made their own god
79: та мꙋ се покланꙗхꙋ] [sidenote] and then they prayed to him
80: цр҃ь ки́ро зá велика почт͒ь ҆имаше пр͒рока дани́ла king Cyrus had a great respect for prophet Daniel
81: без не́го хле́бь не еде́ше he did not eat (his) bread without him
82: ҆á вави́лон҆ꙗ́не ҆имахꙋ ҆едного ҆идолà голе́мого and the Babylonians had
83: тá мꙋ се поклáнꙗхꙋ като̀ бг҃ꙋ and they bowed to it as to a god
84: ҆и тꙋри́ха мꙋ ҆име ви́ль бг҃ь and they gave it name Bel the God
85: та мꙋ даваше цр҃ь ки́ро кáта де́нь по ·вı· кила жи́то ҆и по ·м· ҆овн͛и ҆и по ·ѕ· ме́ри ви́но and king Cyrus gave him every day 12 bushels of grain, 40 rams and 6 gallons of wine
86: товà мꙋ се гото́веше за вечерꙋ на трьпезꙋ̀ that was put on a table as for his dinner
87: то́ва ҆ꙗ́дене ҆и пикѐ тꙋри́ли вечер та на трьпеза they put that meal and drink in the evening on the table
88: ҆á на ютре не може́ха да нáйдать ни́що and in the morning they could not find anything
89: токо найдоха тро́хи ҆и ко́кале they just found crumbs and bones
90: ҆á ҆ѡни́а прельщени чл҃веци поми́сли́хꙋ че и́сти́на ҆е́де бг҃ь ви́ль това ҆ꙗ́сти́е and those misguided people thought, that god Bel really eats the meal
91: тоги́ва по҆иде́ цр҃ь ки́ро then king Cyrus came
92: та се покло́ни ви́лꙋ бг҃ꙋ and he bowed to the god Bel
93: ҆á дани́ль не́ ще҆ꙗ́ дá мꙋ се покло́ни but Daniel did not want to bow to him
94: пá мꙋ ре́че цр҃ь so the king told him:
95: дани́ле зáщо не ще́шь дá се покло́нишь ви́лꙋ б҃ꙋ ʺo Daniel, why do you not want to bow to god Bel?ʺ
96: ре́че дани́ль Daniel said:
97: ҆áзь цр҃ꙋ поклáн҆ꙗ́м͛ се жи́вомꙋ бг҃ꙋ ʺo king, I bow to the Living Godʺ
98: ҆á мер͛твомꙋ, б҃ꙋ не ще́мь дá се покло́нимь ʺso I do not want to bow to a dead godʺ
99: кои е бг҃ь создáль, не́бо ҆и землю ҆и мо́ре ҆и све що е жи́во на то́ꙗ ст҃ь ʺthe God, (who) created the heavens and the earth, and sea and all what lives in this worldʺ
томꙋ́ва бг҃ь поклан҆ꙗ́ю се ҆áзь цр҃ꙋ ʺI bow to this God, o kingʺ
100: ҆и рече́ цр҃ь дани́лꙋ then the king said to Daniel:
101: нали́ ти се ви́ди дани́ле да есть жив ви́ль бг҃ь ʺdo you (not?) see that god Bel is alive?ʺ
102: та не ви́диш ли колико нá де́нь е́де ѝ пи́е ʺand do you not see, how much does he eat and drink each day?ʺ
103: ҆á даниль се засмеꙗ̀ but Daniel laughed
104: и́ ре́че and he said:
105: не прельщáй се цр҃ꙋ ʺdo not fool yourself, o kingʺ
106: то́ꙗ вáшь ви́ль бг҃ь ванꙋ́тре есть ѿ землю̀ ʺthat god Bel of yours is (made) of clay insideʺ
107: ҆á ѿ надво́рь е͒ть ѿ бакь́рь ҆и ѿ жльта ме́ть ʺand from the outside he is (made) of copper and yellow bronzeʺ
108: какво мо́же бездꙋ́шнь чл҃векь да еде то́лкова го́зба ʺhow can a soulless man eat so much food?ʺ
109: тоги́ва се ѕле расрь́ди цр҃ь ки́ро then the king Cyrus became very angry
110: та ре́че на слꙋги́ те си and he said to his servants:
111: скоро призове́те ми́, ҆идол͛ски попо́ве ʺsummon me the priests of the idol soon!ʺ
112: ҆и рече ҆имь цр҃ь and the king said to them:
113: прáво дá ми кáжете ʺtell me trulyʺ
114: коѝ ҆едѐ ти́҆ꙗ́ го́зби ʺwho eats that food?ʺ
115: ҆áко гѝ ҆едѐ ви́ль, бг҃ь да ꙋбиемо дани́ла ʺif god Bel eats them, let us slay Danielʺ
дá не хꙋлѝ на вели́каго бг҃а нáшего ви́ла ʺso that he does not blaspheme against our great god Belʺ
116: ко́га пр҆иидоха попове́ те при́ цр҃а ҆и ҆и рекоше мꙋ when the priests came to the king, they said to him:
117: чести́ти- цр҃ꙋ ми́е да не сме тáмо ʺo honorable king, may we be not thereʺ
118: ҆áмѝ сась- тво́и те слꙋ́ги занесѝ то́ва ҆ꙗ́сти́е ʺbut let your servants bring that foodʺ
119: [зри лжꙋ поповꙋ] [sidenote] observe the priest's lie
120: ҆и ҆ѡстави́ го пре ви́ла бг҃а ʺand leave it for god Belʺ
121: ҆и затво́рѝ врáта ʺand close the doorʺ
122: ҆и запечатѝ до́бре сась цр͒ки печáть ʺand seal it well with the royal sealʺ
123: ко́га бꙋде ютре ʺwhen the morning comesʺ
҆áко не бꙋ́де бг҃ь ви́ль ҆изель то́ва ҆ꙗ́сти́е ʺif god Bel will not have eaten that foodʺ
҆á ние сви́ ҆и женѝ ҆и децà да ҆ꙋмре́ме ʺthen may all of us die, women and children tooʺ
124: бехꙋ токо̀ попове ·о· без же́ни ҆и без децà there were 70 priests, without women and children
125: ҆á ҆они́ ҆имáли сокро́вище по́дь землю but they had a secret cellar beneath the earth
дето бе́ше трьпе́за та ви́лꙋ бг҃ꙋ (on the place) where stood the god Bel's table
126: ѝ подь трьпеза та ҆имаше дꙋпка and beneath the table was a hole
127: ҆и врьзь не҆ꙗ́ голе́ма плѡ́ча and on it (there was) a big slab
128: та прѝходеха попо́ве те но́щемь thus the priests were coming during the night
҆и жени те́ имь ҆и деца тá ймь and their women and children too
129: та еде́ха ҆о́на҆ꙗ́ гозба and thus they ate that food
130: ҆и пие́ха ҆о́но́ва ви́но and they drank that wine
131: когѝ да си пойдать на зарáнь ҆изь ѡно́ва капи́ще when they wanted to go from the temple in the morning
҆á ѡнѝ покри́ать ҆о́на҆ꙗ́ дꙋпка са͒ плѡ́ча та they (would) cover the hole with the slab
132: [капище се зове елин͛ска цр҃ква] [sidenote] a pagan temple is called ʺkapišteʺ
133: ѝ ҆ѡтидѡ́хá си све́ки на сво́й до́мь and everyone went to his home
134: та ги ни́кои не ви́де and thus nobody saw them
135: ҆á цр҃ь стáнꙋ зар͛ан та and the king woke up in the morning
136: ҆и поведе пр͒ро́ка дани́ла and he took prophet Daniel
137: та ꙋлезнáха ҆о́ꙋ капище and they went into the temple
138: ҆и тамь на҆идоха млого люди́е безако́ни and they found there many lawless (?) people
139: ҆и цр҃ь се по́чꙋди and the king wondered
140: па фáнꙋ да ҆излáзи нáдворь ҆из капи́ще то thus he began to exit the temple
141: ҆á данил͛ мꙋ ре́че and Daniel said to him:
142: повели́ цр҃ꙋ да ҆излезнꙋ т҆иꙗ лю́дие нáдворь да ҆останеме ни́е двама ꙋ капи́ще ҆и да види́шь що ще́мь ҆áзь да сотво́римь ʺo king, command those people to go out, so that only the two of us will stay in the temple, and so that you can see what I'll doʺ
143: тоги́ва ꙋзе дани́ль ре́шето then Daniel took a sieve
144: ҆и наси́па го са͒ пе́пель та and he filled it with ash
145: посеа ꙋ кáпище́ то така and thus he strew it in the temple
146: като сееше пе́пело̀ ҆á ҆ѡнь ходе́ше на назáть да не прáви ди́ра and as he strew the ash, he went backwards, so that he would not leave any trace
147: ҆излезе цр҃ь ҆и пр͒рокь дани́ль по не́го the king went out and the prophet Daniel after him
148: ҆и цр҃ь тꙋри́ печáть на врáта тà and the king put his seal on the gate
149: ҆á они́а попо́ве не зна҆ꙗ́хꙋ що нáправи дáни́ль but those priests did not know about what did Daniel
150: нело̀ ҆отидохꙋ през нош та сас жени сас де́ца as they went (there) in the night with their women (and) children
151: та изедоха све що бе́ше прине́сено вилꙋ бг҃ꙋ and thus they ate everything brought to the god Bel
152: ҆и пакь си рáно ҆отидо́ха да гѝ никой не ви́де and they went away again in the morning, so that no one sees them
153: ҆и за ꙋ́тра рáно стáнꙋ цр҃ь and the king woke up early in the morning
154: ҆и пове́де дани́ла при́ бг҃а ви́ла да ви́ди що сѐ сотвори но́щеска and he led Daniel to god Bel, to see what happened in the night
155: коги ви́де цр҃ь че сꙋ здрáви печáте те ҆á ҆о́нь ре́че дани́лꙋ when the king saw the seals are whole, he told (about it) Daniel
156: ҆и дани́ль кáже and Daniel said:
157: здрави́ сꙋ печáти цр҃ꙋ ʺo king, the seals are wholeʺ
158: тоги́ва ви́кнꙋ цр҃ь сась голе́мь глáсь then the king cried with a powerful voice:
159: [зри прельщенїе цр҃ово] [sidenote] observe the deception of the king
160: вели́кь бг҃ь ҆есѝ тѝ ви́ле ʺo Bel, you are a great godʺ
161: ҆и не ма ль́жа на те́бе никáквà ʺand there is no falsity on youʺ
162: тоги́ва се пакь засме҆ꙗ́ дани́ль then Daniel laughed again
163: ҆и рече and he said:
164: цр҃ꙋ сто́й на едно́ ме́сто ʺo king, stay on one placeʺ
165: не иди напре́дь ʺdo not go forwardʺ
166: погледáй цр҃ꙋ по земю ʺlook on the ground, o kingʺ
167: ҆и познай чи́й стꙋпни ҆има ꙋ капи́ще ʺand find out, whose steps are there in the templeʺ
168: тогива ре́че цр҃ь then the king said:
169: тиà стꙋпни сꙋ мꙋжески ҆и жен͛ски ҆и дети́н͛ски ʺthese steps are of men, women and childrenʺ
170: тогив се ҆ꙗ́ко рáсрьдѝ цр҃ь н҆а попо́ве тѐ ҆евре́йски then the king became very angry against Hebrew (heathen?) priests
171: ҆и тꙋри́ ги на мꙋче́нїе and he put them to torture
дá ги мꙋ́чи да кáжꙋть прáво torturing them to tell him the truth
далѝ ҆о́ни ҆едꙋть тѝ҆ꙗ́ ҆ꙗ́стѝꙗ ҆и пи́тїꙗ whether they consume that food and drinks
172: ҆á они прáвѡ казáхꙋ and they told the truth
173: в҆á ҆исти́нꙋ цр҃ꙋ когá ни питаш прáво дá тѝ кáжеме ʺtruly, o king, if you ask us, may we tell you the truthʺ
174: ни́а ҆еде́ме тиа ҆ꙗ́сти́а ҆и пи́ти́ꙗ ʺwe consume that food and drinksʺ
175: тогѝва повелѐ цр҃ь then the king commanded
176: та гѝ ҆исьсеко́ша and thus they were slain
сви́ те попове ҆еврейскѝ ҆и жени́ те ҆имь ҆и децá та ймь all the Hebrew (heathen?) priests and their women and children
177: ҆á ҆идолá того предáде цр҃ь .:. пр͒ро́кꙋ дани́лꙋ на рꙋкꙋ and the king gave the idol to the hands of prophet Daniel
178: тоги́ва ре́че дани́ль then Daniel said:
179: дай мѝ волю цр҃ꙋ твое́го бг҃а без н͛и́какво ҆о́рꙋжи́е д҆а гѡ̀ ꙋ́би́емь ʺo king, give me permission to slay your god without any weaponʺ
180: ҆и ре́че цр҃ь дани́лꙋ and the king said to Daniel:
181: какво́ ти е во́лꙗ дани́ле такá го сокрꙋ́ши ʺas it is your will, o Daniel, thus destroy himʺ
182: тоги́ва дáни́ль ꙋзе́ смолà ҆и ло̀й ҆и кози́на then Daniel took tar and fat and fur
183: та ги́ ҆измешà and he mixed them together
184: ҆и ҆ѡмеси смолá та ҆и ло҆и та ҆и кози́на та кáто хле́бове and he knead the tar, fat and fur as (into?) loaves
185: тá па прїиде при ѡно́гова зве́ра дето̀ го нàри́чахꙋ че́ е бг҃ь and then he went to that beast, which was thought to be a god
186: ҆и рече́ дани́ль н҆а ҆ѡновога зве́ра and Daniel said to the beast:
187: на ти́ бж҃е хле́бь ʺhere, o you god, your bread!ʺ
188: ҆á ҆ѡ́ни҆ꙗ́ зве́рь когà ви́де дани́ла and the beast, seeing Daniel
҆á ҆ѡнь зи́нꙋ коли́ко мо́же it yawned (roared?) as much as it could
189: ҆и онь мꙋ ме́тнꙋ ҆о́ни́ꙗ хле́бов ҆о́ꙋ ꙋстá та and he (Daniel) threw the loaves into its mouth
190: ҆и ми́нꙋ неко́й чáсь and some time passed
191: ҆и и́зьдь́хнꙋ ҆ѡн҆ꙗ́ зве́рь and the beast died
192: тоги́ва се зáсмеꙗ̀ дани́ль then Daniel laughed
193: ҆и ре́че and he said:
194: ҆ꙗ́ ви́ще вáшего бг҃а ʺhey, have a look on your godʺ
195: нещо мꙋ е злѐ ʺhe is ill somehowʺ
196: та спáва ʺso he stumblesʺ
197: тоги́ва ҆о́н͛и́ꙗ пре́льще́ни лю́дие какво́ ви́доха ҆о́но́гова бе́са че е ҆ꙋмре́ль then those misguided people (ʺasʺ) saw that devil, that it died
198: тá се сь́бра наро́дь коли́ко не мо́же чл҃векь да ти изгле́да so people assembled, so much as a man cannot see
199: тá ҆ѡтѝдоха пр҆и цáра and they went to the king
200: ҆и реко́ха мꙋ and they said to him
201: ҆и ви́кнáхꙋ вели́кимь глáсомь and cried with a great voice:
202: тѝ цр҃ꙋ не сѝ наш брáть ҆и дрꙋгарь ʺyou, o king, are not our brother and friendʺ
203: по́что рáди ꙋб҆иль- ҆еси бг҃а нáшего, ви́ла ʺwhy did you kill our god Bel?ʺ
204: ҆и ись ко́рень сѝ го расипáль ʺand you have uprooted himʺ
205: ҆и попо́ве нáши си ҆иськлаль ʺand you slew our priestsʺ
206: ҆и ви́ла бг҃а си́ ꙋби́ль ʺand you killed our god Belʺ
207: ҆ил҆и дáи нам дани́ла ҆ꙋ рꙋке ʺeither give us Daniel to our handsʺ
208: ҆или ще́ме да тꙋри́ме ҆о́гнь ꙋ тво́й те дворо́ве ʺor we will throw fire into your courtsʺ
209: ҆или те́бе жи́вого на огнь̀ ҆изгáраме ʺor we will burn you aliveʺ
210: ҆и ꙋбо҆ꙗ́ се цр҃ь ѿ злáго нáрода and the king became afraid of the angry people
211: ҆и предáде м ги дани́ла ҆о́ꙋ ни́хни рꙋке and he gave them Daniel to their hands
212: ҆и ѡни́ го ҆ꙋфáтихꙋ and they seized him
213: ҆и фрьли́ха го при лю́ти ҆и стрáшни ·з· львове ꙋ ҆ꙗ́мꙋ and they threw him to a pit with six fierce and terrible lions
дано́ би го ҆изе́ли львове́ те so that the lions eat him
214: а пре́мл͒твѝ б҃ь не ҆остáви рáба сво́его да поги́бне but the most merciful God did not let His servant die
215: че затвори́ бг҃ь на льво́ве те ꙋстá та so God closed the mouths of the lions
216: ҆и не може́хꙋ да и́зедꙋть данила and they could not eat Daniel
217: та седѐ дани́ль ꙋ ҆ꙗ́ма та при ль́вове тѐ ·ѕ· дн҃и ѝ ·ѕ· но́щи and Daniel sat in the pit with lions for 6 days and 6 nights
218: ѝ львове те ҆о́кѡле не́го and lions (were) around him
219: ҆и дани́ль глáдень and Daniel (was) hungry
220: ҆и льво́ве те глáдни and lions (were) hungry (too)
221: защо̀ сто́еше ꙋ ҆ꙗ́ма та ҆áн҃гел гд͒нь при дани́ла because an angel of God stood with Daniel in the pit
222: тá го чꙋ́ваше and thus he protected him
223: ҆и вà ҆о́но́ва вре́ме ҆имáше ҆еди́нь чл҃векь and in that time there was one man
224: ѝме мꙋ бе́ше ҆áвакꙋ́мь his name was Habakkuk
225: та бе́ше вариль ле́ща да но́си на жьтвáре хле́бь ҆и вáриво he had cooked lentils, to bring reapers bread and porridge
226: па ҆излезе ҆о́ домá си thus he went out of his home
227: та йде по пꙋть and then he went on the road
228: та си ҆о́тво́ди на ни́вꙋ then he turned to the fields
229: па го̀ срешнꙋ ед҃инь ҆áнг҃ель гд͒нь then an angel of God met him
230: па мꙋ̀ ре́че and then he said to him:
231: ҆áвáкꙋ́ме ско́ро зане́си тоꙗ хле́бь ҆и то́ва вари́во пр͒ро́ккꙋ .:. дани́лꙋ .:. ꙋ вави́ло́нь град ʺo Habakkuk, quickly bring this bread and porridge to prophet Daniel in the city of Babylonʺ
де́то е затво́рень при́ львове́ те цр҃ви ꙋ ҆ꙗ́ма тà ʺwho is imprisoned with king's lions in a pitʺ
232: че е ҆ꙗ́ко ҆о́гладне́ль дани́ль ʺbecause Daniel became very hungryʺ
233: ҆áвакꙋ́мь кáже ҆áнг҃гелꙋ Habakkuk said to the angel:
234: гд͒ине мо́й ҆áзь нѝ вавило́нь град знáемь ʺmy lord, a neither know (about) the city of Babylonʺ
235: ни цр҃ви льво́ве ꙋ ҆ꙗ́мꙋ знáемь ʺnor I know (about) king's lions in a pitʺ
236: тоги́ва го стрáшно ꙋфáти ҆áнг҃ель за врь́хь зá главнѝ ко́си then the angel terribly seized him by the top of his hair
237: ҆и зане́се го ҆ꙋ мигновенїе ҆о́ко̀ при дани́ла ꙋ ҆ꙗ́ма тà при́ львове́ те and he brought him in a blink of an eye to Daniel, into the pit, next to the lions
238: хо́чать некой чл҃веци да ре́кꙋть че е до вавило́нь град ·кд· днѝ хо́да some people would say that it is 24 days of walk to the city of Babylon
239: и дрꙋ́ги хочáть да речáть не мо́же то́й би́ти дале́кое and others would say (that) it cannot be far away
240: ҆á що ре́кохꙋ- дрꙋ́ги чл҃ве́ци but what (ever) other people say
241: ва ҆истинꙋ да верꙋвате may you believe in truth!
242: защо́ сꙋ по брь́зи ҆áнг҃ели бж҃и ѿ по́мисль чл҃веческѝ for the angels of God are faster than the thought of man
243: ҆и зане́се ҆áньг҃ель ҆áвакꙋма прѝ ҆ꙗ́ма тà and the angel carried Habakkuk to the pit
244: ҆и рече ҆áвакꙋм and Habakkuk said:
245: стáни дани́ле ʺstand up, Daniel!ʺ
246: та ꙋзмѝ хле́бь ҆и вáриво ʺand take the bread and porridgeʺ
247: та ҆ꙗ́шь ʺand eatʺ
248: ҆и насити́ се ʺand satiate yourselfʺ
249: че тѝ до́прати премл͒твѝ гд͒ь ʺfor the most merciful God sent it to youʺ
250: ѝ ꙋзе дани́ль and Daniel took (the food)
251: ҆и ҆ꙗ́де and he ate
252: ҆и рече and he said:
253: бл҃годáри́м те ʺI thank youʺ
254: на те́бе се нáде́ють вáси рáби тво́й ʺall your servants put their hope on youʺ
255: нáсити сѐ дани́ль Daniel satiated himself
256: ҆и ҆ѡстанꙋ мло́го ҆ѡще хле́бь ҆и вари́во ҆áвакꙋ́мꙋ and still a lot of bread and porridge remained to Habakkuk
257: ҆и пá го зане́се ҆áнг҃ель еди́нь час прѝ жетвáре те and then the angel brought him in an instant to the reapers
258: ҆и вари́во то ҆ѡ́ще бе́ше же́шко and the porridge was still hot
259: не бе́ше ҆исти́нꙋло it had not became cold
260: по брьзи́ сꙋ ҆áнг҃ели бж҃и ѿ ҆о́ко чл҃вчко ҆и ѿ помисль чл҃вече́ска the angels of God are faster than human eye and human mind
261: па тоги́ва:- прїиде цр҃ь ки́ро при́ ҆ꙗ́мá та да види що се напрáви and then king Cyrus came to the pit, to see what happened
262: даниль при́ львове те Daniel (was) next to the lions
263: ҆á дани́ль седѝ жи́вь ҆и здравь but Daniel sits alive and healthy
264: ҆и львове те лежáть ҆о́коле него глáдни and the lions lay around him hungry
265: почꙋ́ди се цр҃ь the king wondered
266: ҆и рече and he said:
267: вели́комꙋ бг҃ꙋ поклан҆ꙗ́ет се дани́ль ʺDaniel bows to a great godʺ
268: ҆и не ҆има по́ вели́ки бг҃ь ѿ него ʺand there is no greater god than himʺ
269: тоги́ва повеле цр҃ь на ѡни́ꙗ зави́стницѝ then king gave an order to those jealous men
270: та ҆извадиха дани́ла ҆изь ҆ꙗ́ма та ♣ and they took our Daniel out of the pit
271: и́ тꙋ сказáхме до зде [afterword] and so much we tell
272: и ѡще мал͛ко и́ма да скáжеме хр͒тане and we have to tell you a little bit more
273: добро́ би било̀ да знáете ҆и ви́е че се́ е роди́ль пр͒ро́кь дани́ль пре́дь хр͒тà бг҃а ·ѵѯ· го́динь it would be good for you to know, that prophet Daniel was born 460 years before Christ the God
274: ҆и пожи́ве ·р· го́динь and he lived for 100 years
275: па тоги́ва ꙋмрѐ ва тре́то ле́то ꙋ цр͒тво ки́рово .:.. and then he died in the third year of Cyrus' reign
276: то́мꙋ же слáва и чт͒ь и поклоне́ние ҆о́ц҃ꙋ ҆и сн҃ꙋ ҆и ст҃омꙋ дх҃ꙋ glory, honor and respect to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
н҆и́нꙗ ҆и при́сно ҆и во вѣки, веко́вь, now and ever and forever
277: ҆áми́нь .:.. amen
