8: | i zova crъ davidъ pisatelja svoego ioava | And king David called his scribe Joab |
9: | i reče mu | and he told him: |
10: | ioave idi izbroi mi ljudie te ot versavei grad daže do dana | ʺo Joab, go and count me the people from the city Beersheba to ʺ(the tribe of) Danʺ |
11: | i zapiši gi | ʺand write them downʺ |
12: | i donesi mi pismo to da vidimъ kolko su ljudie po moe to crtvo | ʺand bring me the letter to see how many people there are in my kingdomʺ |
13: | i reče mu ioavъ | And Joab told him: |
14: | mlogo su cru | ʺthey are many, o kingʺ |
15: | i koja ti e nevolja da gi broišъ | ʺand what worry besets you, that you (have to) count them?ʺ |
16: | svi te su tvoi rabi | ʺall of them are your servantsʺ |
17: | makarъ mlogo ili malko | ʺbe they many or fewʺ |
i pakъ da ne bi bilo nešto źle predъ bga štoto šteme nie da napravime | ʺbut what if it would be something bad in front of God, what we are going to do?ʺ | |
18: | i crъ presili ioava da ide da gi prebroi | and the king forced Joab to go to count them |
19: | i otide | and he went |
20: | i prebroi gi što bexu evree | and he counted those (them) who were Hebrews |

23: | i ostanu ošte mlogo mesto sela i gradove ne broeni | and there remained much more places, villages and cities, uncounted |
24: | zašto tova povelenie źlo se javi pred bga napade morъ na broeni te ljudie | Because this command appeared bad to God, he let a plague fall on the counted people |
25: | i mlogo umiraxu | and many died |
26: | i gdъ reče gadu što beše sluga davidu cru | And the Lord told Gad who was king David's servant |
27: | idi reči gospodaru si | ʺGo and tell your masterʺ |
28: | ete taka reče gdъ | ʺthis is what Lord says:ʺ |
29: | šte da pušti tri zlini na tebe zaradi zlo to što si ti učinilъ | ʺI will cast (one of these) three evils on you because of the wrong you have committedʺ |
30: | izberi ot tija tri źlini | ʺChoose from those three evilsʺ |
31: | ili tri godinъ da bude gladъ po svu zemlju | ʺeither three years there shall be hunger in the entire countryʺ |
32: | ili *g* mci da begate ot ropstvo | ʺor you will run away from captivity for three monthsʺ |
33: | ili *g* dni da bude morъ na tija ljudie tъkmo što si gi broilъ | ʺor for three days there will be a plague on your people there that you have countedʺ |
34: | i otide gadъ | ʺand Gad went (to the king)ʺ |
35: | i kaza davidu | and he told king David |
36: | cru kakvo taka reče bgъ | ʺo king, thus God saysʺ |
37: | ami izberi cru ot tia tri te źlini koja ti e po ugadna da idemъ da kažemъ bgu | ʺNow choose, o king, from these three evils, which is more pleasing to you so that I go and tell Godʺ |
38: | togiva rče crъ dvid | Then king David said: |
39: | i tri te dumi mi su teški i usilni | ʺall the three sentences (ʺwordsʺ) are heavy and severe to meʺ |
40: | po bole mi e da pripadnemъ na mltъ bžia neželi da begamъ ot ruka človečeska | ʺIt is better to me to fall in divine mercy than to run away from the human handʺ |
41: | ami po dobre da bude morъ | ʺWell, better it shall be, if there would be a plagueʺ |
42: | tri dni togiva pušti gdъ arъxanъgela mixaila | Then three days God sent the Archangel Michael |
43: | za tri čave izmori *o* xiljade ljudie | in three hours, he killed 70 thousand people |
44: | tagava reče gdъ anъgelu | then God told the angel: |
45: | stani anъgele | ʺstand up, o angelʺ |
46: | dosta mori | ʺyou killed enoughʺ |
47: | i prestanu pomorъ | and the plague stopped |
48: | i pogleda david crъ | and king David looked |
49: | i vide anъgela če stoi i derъži mъčъ u ruku | And he saw the angel that was standing and held a sword in the hand |
50: | visina anъgelu beše ot zemlju do nebo | The height of the angel was from Earth to the heaven |
51: | desna ruka mu beše prostrena nad ierusalimъ | his right hand was streched over Jerusalem |
52: | i ot strax negov david crъ pade na lice svoe | and King David fell on his face out of fear of him |
53: | i moleše se | And he prayed |
54: | i reče | |
55: | gdi dosta e bilo srъdъba na mene | ʺo Lord, enough wrath fell on meʺ |
56: | nъ da doide mltъ tvoja na mene | ʺBut may your mercy come to meʺ |
57: | togiva reče arxanъgelъ mixailъ | Then the Archangel Michael said: |
58: | davide skoro oučini tuka na tova guvno mltvu da prestane srъdъba bžia na tebe | ʺDavid, do your prayer here soon on this ths threshing floor so that the divine torment on you stopsʺ |
59: | i učini dvid služba bgu | and (so) David did service to God |
60: | i poide david crъ pri onogova člveka deto mu beše guvno to | And King David went to his person who the threshing floor belonged to |
61: | zovexa go orna | They called him Araunah |
62: | ta mu reče david | And David told him: |
63: | orne brate prodai mi gumno to tvoe i pčenica ta štoto ja vrъšešъ i volove te tvoimi | ʺo Araunah, brother, sell me your threshing floor and your wheat, which you are threshing and your oxenʺ |
64: | prodai i ralo to i erema | ʺSell (me) the plow and yoke, tooʺ |
65: | i prodade gi orъna | And Araunah sold them |
66: | i saseče crъ ralo to i erema namesto drъva | and the king cut down cut down the plow and the yoke instead of trees |
67: | i volove te zakla | and he slaughtered the oxen |

73: | i tako se sotvori | And like this it was done |
