8: ʾi zova cr̃ь davídь pʾisatelʾjá svóego ïʾwava And king David called his scribe Joab
9: ʾi reče mu and he told him:
10: ïʾwave ʾidì ʾizbrói mi ljúdie te. wt versavéi grad daže do dána ʺo Joab, go and count me the people from the city Beersheba to ʺ(the tribe of) Danʺ
11: ʾi zapiší gi ʺand write them downʺ
12: ʾi donesi mi pismó to da vídimь kolko su ljúdie po moé to cr͒tvo ʺand bring me the letter to see how many people there are in my kingdomʺ
13: í reče mu ïʾwávь And Joab told him:
14: mlógo su cr̃u ʺthey are many, o kingʺ
15: ʾi koʾjá tí e nevólja dá gi broĭšь ʺand what worry besets you, that you (have to) count them?ʺ
16: sví te su tvóĭ rabi ʺall of them are your servantsʺ
17: makárь mlógo ʾili málko ʺbe they many or fewʺ
ʾi pákь da né bi bilò néšto źle prédь bg̃a štoto štéme níe da naprávime ʺbut what if it would be something bad in front of God, what we are going to do?ʺ
18: ʾi cr̃ь présili ʾiwʾava da ĭde da gì prebróĭ and the king forced Joab to go to count them

23: ʾi wstanu ʾwšte mlògo mésto séla ʾi grádove ne bróʾeni and there remained much more places, villages and cities, uncounted
24: zaštò tòva povelénïe źlo se ʾjávi pred bg̃a napáde mórь na bróeni te ljúdiè Because this command appeared bad to God, he let a plague fall on the counted people
25: ʾi mlogo ʾumíraxu and many died
26: ʾi gd͒ь réče gádu što béše slugà davídu cr̃u And the Lord told Gad who was king David's servant
27: ʾidi réči gospodáru si ʺGo and tell your masterʺ
28: ʾéte táka reče gd͒ь ʺthis is what Lord says:ʺ
29: šte da púšti trí zlíni na tébe zaradì zló to što si tì učinílь ʺI will cast (one of these) three evils on you because of the wrong you have committedʺ
30: ʾizberì wt tíja trí źlíni ʺChoose from those three evilsʺ
31: ʾili trí godínь da búde gládь po svu zémlju ʺeither three years there shall be hunger in the entire countryʺ
32: ʾili *g* mc͒i da bégate wt ropstvò ʺor you will run away from captivity for three monthsʺ
33: ʾili *g* dni da bude mórь na tíja ljudíe tьkmo što sí gi broĭlь ʺor for three days there will be a plague on your people there that you have countedʺ
34: ʾi otide gádь ʺand Gad went (to the king)ʺ
35: ʾi kaza davídu. and he told king David
36: cr̃u kakvò takà reče bg̃ь ʺo king, thus God saysʺ
37: ʾámʾi ʾizberi cr̃u wt tíà trí te źlíni koʾjá ti e po ugadna da ʾidemь da kažemь bg̃u ʺNow choose, o king, from these three evils, which is more pleasing to you so that I go and tell Godʺ
38: togiva rče cr̃ь dvid Then king David said:
39: ʾi tri te dumí mi su teški i usílni ʺall the three sentences (ʺwordsʺ) are heavy and severe to meʺ
40: po bóle mi e da pripádnemь na ml͒tь bž̃ia néželi da begamь wt ruka člóvečeska ʺIt is better to me to fall in divine mercy than to run away from the human handʺ
41: ʾami pó dobre da bude mórь ʺWell, better it shall be, if there would be a plagueʺ
42: tri dni togíva puštì gd͒ь ʾár͛x̃an͛gela míxaíla Then three days God sent the Archangel Michael
43: za trì ča͒ve ʾizmori *o* xíljade ljudie in three hours, he killed 70 thousand people
44: tagáva réče gd͒ь ʾán͛g̃elu then God told the angel:
45: staní an͛g̃ele ʺstand up, o angelʺ
46: dósta mori ʺyou killed enoughʺ
47: ʾi prestanu pómorь and the plague stopped
48: ʾi pogléda david cr̃ь and king David looked
49: ʾi vidè ʾán͛g̃éla če stoĭ ʾi der͛ži mьčь ʾu ruku And he saw the angel that was standing and held a sword in the hand
50: visinà an͛gelu béše wt zemlju do nébo The height of the angel was from Earth to the heaven
51: désna ruka mu beše prostréna nad ïʾerusálimь his right hand was streched over Jerusalem
52: ʾi wt strax negov david cr̃ь pade na licè svóe and King David fell on his face out of fear of him
53: ʾi moléše se And he prayed
54: ʾi reče
55: gd͒i dósta e bʾilo srьdьba na méne ʺo Lord, enough wrath fell on meʺ
56: nь da doĭde ml͒tь tvóʾjá na méne ʺBut may your mercy come to meʺ
57: togíva réče ʾárx̃an͛gelь míxaʾilь Then the Archangel Michael said:
58: davíde skóro ʾóučini tuka na tóva gúvno ml̃tvu da prestáne srьdьba bž̃ia na tébe ʺDavid, do your prayer here soon on this ths threshing floor so that the divine torment on you stopsʺ
59: ʾi ʾučíni dvid slúžba bg̃u and (so) David did service to God
60: ʾi poide david cr̃ь prí wnogova čl̃veka deto mu beše gúvno to And King David went to his person who the threshing floor belonged to
61: zovéxa go ʾorna They called him Araunah
62: ta mu réče david And David told him:
63: ʾórne- bráte prodaĭ mi gumno to tvoe ʾi pčeníca ta štotó ja vrьšéšь ʾi volove te tvoimi ʺo Araunah, brother, sell me your threshing floor and your wheat, which you are threshing and your oxenʺ
64: prodáĭ ʾi ralo to ʾi erema ʺSell (me) the plow and yoke, tooʺ
65: ʾi prodáde gi, ʾór͛na, And Araunah sold them
66: ʾi saséče cr̃ь raló to ı ʾerèma namésto, drь´va and the king cut down cut down the plow and the yoke instead of trees
