3:	Zlinjà ʾi nápastь što xódi po čl̃véci wt trì ráboti biva	Evil and scourge that plague the people come from three things
4:	ʾednò wt ʾispitiju bž̃iju	One of God's trials (is),
	kogì ʾispituva bg̃ь čl̃véka dali ljúbi bg̃a	when God tests man's love for Him,
	kogí mu dóĭde wt négde nekoja bedà	when calamity comes upon him from somewhere.
5:	vtóro bíva kogí se wtluči bg̃ь wt čl̃veka za nékoe sogrešénïe	The second one is when God separates Himself from man because of a sin
6:	ʾá tréto bíva náĭ zlo	And the third one is the worst -
7:	kogì sasvè ʾostávi bg̃ь čl̃veka	when God abandons man entirely
8:	wt ʾiskušenïe bž̃ie bíva ʾi zlo ʾi bedà ʾi napastь	From God's temptation comes evil and calamity and scourge
	kakvóto poteglì ʾi právednì ʾiʾovь	which the righteous Job suffered himself

12:	kamíli ʾimaše trì xiljadi	he had three thousand camels
13:	volóve ʾimaše dvé xíljadì	he had two thousand oxen
14:	ʾi krávi pétь stótinь	and five hundred cows
15:	ʾi konè xer͛gelíja sed͛mь stótinь	and a herd of seven hundred horses
16:	ʾi ratáe ʾimaše mlógo	he had many farmhands too
17:	ʾi rabota ʾi sluguváne bezьkráĭno.: mlógo	and work without end
18:	ʾá kolíko srébro ʾi zláto ʾimašè ʾiʾwvь ne ʾizьbróeno	and how much uncounted silver and gold Job had...
19:	no vь mal͛ko dnì své se dovrьšì	but in few days everything ended
20:	ʾi ništo mu ne ʾwstanu.	and he was left with nothing
21:	pósle ʾi decá ta mu ʾizmréxu	then his children died too
22:	tokò ʾwnь ʾwstánu ʾi žená ta mu	only him and his wife were left
23:	tákovo vréme dočekà	he suffered such times
24:	zaštó mu ʾi snagá ta ʾwživiníče	that his body got covered with scrofula
25:	ʾi ležéše katò níkoi na buníšte ʾisьfrь´lenь	and he lied there like nobody, thrown away at a dumping ground
26:	ʾi čírepь né maše da sì wstruže snagá ta	he did not either have a splitter to scrape his body
27:	ʾi xlébь né maše da edè ʾili krьčágь vódu da piè	nor did he have bread to eat or a jug to drink water
28:	ʾá ženà negova stanúla sírotíca	Meanwhile his wife became a pauper
29:	ʾi xódeše wt xížu do xížu ta próseše xlébь ta mu prínóseše	and she went from hut to hut to beg for bread and bring it to him
30:	ʾi métnuvaše mù wt dalékь	and she threw it to him from afar
31:	ʾi dúmaše mu	and she talked to him:
32:	dokogì da ležíšь tí tuka ʾwbídniče tol͛kova poxúlenь	ʺUntil when are you going to lie here, you wretch, ever so slandered?ʺ
33:	zaštò ne rečéšь nékoja xul͛na dúma na bóga	ʺWhy don't you say a slanderous word to God?ʺ
34:	davnó bi umrélь da počínišь da nè teglišь tol͛kova zlo	ʺSo that (you) die doing (at least) something to not suffer so much evilʺ
	ʾi moja dušà da ʾwdьxne wt tol͛kova smrádь što ʾizlázi wt ► snagá ta tvojà	ʺand so that my soul takes a rest from the whole stench that comes out of your body.ʺ
35:	Togíva se ʾwbrь´nu ʾiʾwvь	Then Job turned around
36:	tá ĭ réče	and said to her:
37:	nalí si ženà bezьʾumna	ʺAre you a reckless woman?ʺ
38:	kakvo dá poxúlimь na bg̃a kogí ni béše dálь bg̃ь tol͛kova dobrò	ʺWhy should I blaspheme God, when he gave us so much good?ʺ
39:	nalì znáešь kakvó se radváx͛mo ʾw bezúmnice	ʺYou know how happy we were, oh you reckless oneʺ
40:	ʾá sьgà kakvò da nè pretrьpímo tóva zlò;	ʺWhy should we now not bear through this evil?ʺ
41:	ʾi takò provodì ʾiʾwvь svòĭ dnì u bólestь	And so Job spent his days in illness
42:	zaštò béše právedenь čl̃vekь bž̃ïĭ	for he was a righteous man of God
43:	béše cr͂kóvnikь ʾi pósnikь ʾi bg̃u ugódenь	he was a man of the church, he was a faster and pious
44:	ta mù zavidè díjăvolь	so the Devil got envious of him
45:	ta sè ʾwbzalóži sásь drugago dĭavola	and laid a bet with another devil
46:	ta mu ʾizьmorì svá ta stóka što ĭmaše bogáti ʾiwvь	and killed all the stock that the wealthy Job had
47:	pósle mu ʾizmóri sñové te ʾi dьšterí te	then he killed his sons and daughters
48:	ʾi wbráxa mu srebró to ʾi zláto to	and they robbed him of his silver and gold
49:	nái pósle diăvolь ʾi négo poxràka	finally, the Devil spat on him too
50:	ta stánu svè rána snagá ta mu	and his body became full of wounds
51:	ʾi wživiníče	and it caught scrofula
52:	ta tečéše gnóĭ	so pus was running
53:	ʾi béše fanul črь´vja u snagá ta	and his body got infected with worms
54:	ʾi ne móžeše da se preʾwbrьne na drugá ta strána wt bolesti	and he could not turn on the other side because of sickness
55:	ta pà nikákvo né poxulì na bg̃a	but he did not defame God
56:	čúete li xr͒tiăni kolíko ljubov ʾimaše bogáti ʾiʾwvь za bg̃a	Do you, christians, hear how much love for God the wealthy Job had?
57:	ʾi sprosil͛ь beše diăvolь wt bg̃a da ʾwskrьbi ʾiwva	The Devil had asked God to offend Job
	da gò ʾispíta dali štè ljubì ʾiʾwvь bg̃a na skrь´bno vréme	in order to test him if he will love God in times of sorrow
58:	ʾá bg̃ь znaʾeše če ne štè ʾiwvь da poxúli na bg̃a	but God knew Job will not defame God
59:	tьkmo si štejà bg̃ь da go ʾwstavi da potégli zlò za uverénïe	yet God wanted him to suffer evil for the sake of belief
	da vérьvamo ʾi nïja na tíja zlòčésti dnì náši	so that we, too, have faith in these bad days
60:	ʾi dóĭde vréme ʾi dénь da sì služi ʾiwvь st̃ago ʾoc̃a nikoláju	and the time and day came for Job to make a service to the holy father (St.) Nicholas
61:	nitì ʾima parì da sì kupi vósokь	he did not have money to buy himself wax
62:	nitì ʾima da sì kupi ѳimjánь	nor did he have (money) to buy himself incense
	nitì drugo što	nor anything else
63:	tokò brь´knu u pázuxu	he just put his hand in his neckline
64:	ta izvadi wt snagá ta si trì črь´vja	and he took three worms out of his body
65:	ʾi reče na žena ta si	and he said to his wife:
66:	ná ti tíja trì črь´vove:	ʺHere, (take) these three worms,ʺ
67:	da ʾōtídešь na pazárь	ʺgo to the marketʺ
68:	da gì dadéšь:	ʺgive themʺ
69:	za edinь črь´vь da úzmešь žíto	ʺtake grain for one wormʺ
70:	ʾa za drugi vósokь	ʺand for another one waxʺ
71:	ʾá za trétija da zémešь ѳímianь	ʺand for the third one take incenseʺ
72:	ʾá wbídnica ženà réče	and the wretch of a woman said:
73:	čl̃veče bž̃ïi kóĭ xoče tébe da uzme črь´vja	ʺOh you, man of God, who would want to take worms from youʺ
	da tì dadè žíto ʾi vósokь ʾi ѳimjánь;	ʺto give you grain and wax and incense?ʺ
74:	[a iwvь reče]	And Job said:
75:	ti ʾidi sásь ʾime bž̃ie	ʺYou go with God's nameʺ
76:	ʾi pómolí se st̃omu nikoláju	ʺand pray to Saint Nicholasʺ
77:	uze štešь potrebíju	ʺyou will get what you needʺ
78:	ʾi ʾwna uze tíja tri črьvove	And she took these three worms
79:	ʾi vrьza gi u krьpu	and she tied them in a cloth
80:	ʾi zanése gi na pazárь	and she took them to the market
81:	ʾi reče	and she said
82:	dukjan͛џiw za ʾime bž̃ie ná ti tija trì črь´vove	ʺO merchant, in the name of God, here, (take) these three wormsʺ
83:	ta mì daĭ makarь trí zrь´na žíto ʾi málo vósokь ʾi ѳimjan	ʺand give me even if only three grains of wheat and a little wax and incenseʺ
	da sì wtslúžimo st̃ago ʾóc̃a níkoláju	ʺso that we serve the holy father Nicholasʺ
84:	ʾi ʾwnja dukjan͛џia uze krь´pa ta sásь črь´vove te	And that merchant took the cloth with the worms
85:	ʾi turi ju na lávicu	and he put it on the shelf
86:	ʾi dadè na žená ta žíto ʾi vósokь ʾi ѳimiănь	and gave the woman wheat and wax and incense
87:	ʾi ōtidé si žená ta	and the woman left
88:	ʾá dukjan͛џïa razьvrьzà krьpu da vídi kakví su tíja črь´vove	and the merchant untied the cloth to see what these worms were
89:	kogì pogledà u krьpa ta trì žlьtíci	when he looked, in the cloth (were) three gold coins
90:	ʾá wnь skóro trьčà po nejá da ju gi dadè	and he soon ran after her to give them back to her
91:	ʾi ne možè da jù naĭde	and he could not find her
92:	vídite li xr͒tiăne čudesà	Do you, christians, see the miracles?
93:	posle ʾiʾwvina ženà svári ʾwnóva žíto	Then Job's wife cooked the wheat
94:	ʾi wtslužíxu si st̃ago níkoláju	and they served Saint Nicholas
95:	i osta ʾimь ʾédnà kriváčka váreno žíto	and they were left with a handful of cooked wheat
96:	ʾiʾwvь reče	Job said
97:	suprúžnicè mojà uzmi tovà žíto	ʺO my wife, take this wheatʺ
98:	ʾi vrьži go u krь´pu	ʺand tie it in a clothʺ
99:	ʾi dobré go skrì da nì búde gotóvo za na gódinь	ʺand hide it well so that it is ready for us in a yearʺ
100:	če né ma ʾi togíva za što da sì kúpimo	ʺbecause then there will be nothing to buy for, tooʺ
101:	ʾi wnà skrì žíto to	And she hid the wheat
102:	kogí bi do gódinu dóĭde dénь pakì da sì služutь st̃ágo nikoláju	When a year passed, the day for the service to St. Nicholas came again.
103:	uze žená ta iʾwvina krь´pa ta	The wife of Job took the cloth
	da vídi da ne búde ʾizьgnílo žíto to	to see if the wheat had rotted
104:	ʾi kogì pogledà žitó to sotvórilь bg̃ь na mar͛garitь	and when she looked, God had turned the wheat into pearls
105:	ʾi zanése žená ta trí zrь´na na pazarь páki na tógova dukjan͛џiju	and the woman took the three grains to the market, again to this merchant
	da sì ʾuzme potrebíju za službu	to get what she needed for the service
106:	ʾonь vidè zrь´na ta če è mar͛garítь	he saw that the grains were pearls
107:	uze gi	he took them
108:	ʾi dade ĭ žíto ʾi vosok ʾi ѳimʾjanь	and he gave her wheat and wax and incense
109:	ʾi ošte mlógo grošéve ĭ dade	he gave her many more coins too
110:	vídite li bráte kakvo bg̃ь ʾispít͛va čl̃véka	Do you, brothers, see how God tests man
	ʾi tvóri znaménïe ʾi čudesà	and creates omens and miracles?
111:	poslè ʾiwvь ozdráve	Then Job recovered
112:	ʾi dobi póveče stóku	and he got more stock
113:	ʾi dóbi poveče srébro ʾi zláto	and he got more silver and gold
114:	ʾi dóbi drugi sínove ʾi dь´šteri	and he got other sons and daughters
115:	razumex͛te li xrístijăne	Did you understand, Christians?
116:	tovà bg̃ь javi da vídimo níe i da vervamo gd͒a nášego ʾii͒sa xr͒ta ʾi da drь´žímo st̃i práznici	God showed this for us to see and believe our God Jesus Christ and to hold the holy holidays
117:	dosta su námь u nedélju tu šésь dnì da rábotimo	To work six days a week is pretty much for us
118:	sed͛mi dénь st̃uju nedélju da praznúvamo	let us celebrate the seventh day, the holy Sunday
119:	ta da nì bg̃ь pomiluva ʾi da ni pomognè vo slávu bž̃iju	so that God reprieves us and helps us in into God's glory
120:	tomu že iwvu sláva bg̃u že nášemu	Glory be to this Job and to our God
